Neil deGrasse Tyson is joined by comic co-host Chuck Nice and MatPat of The Film Theorists to dive into some iconic science portrayed on one of the most popular animated shows in recent years.
Discover more about dark matter. Rick uses dark matter to power his spaceship but MatPat wants to know if that’s actually scientifically possible. Neil tells us why the show might say dark matter but actually mean dark energy. You’ll learn more about the differences between the two and why dark energy would be more capable of being used over dark matter.
We also dive into antimatter. On Season 2, Episode 2, Rick and Morty of have to destroy a gaseous being named Fart and they do so by using an antimatter gun. So, what exactly is antimatter? Unfortunately Neil doesn't understand Dark matter... Light has mass! everything in the observable universe is composed of strings! Science is being fooled it's an illusion of expansion. I came from the future to tell you that science is wrong. Light can't escape a black hole because it's made of strings therefore it is mass!!!!! I still can’t believe Matpat was a theater kid
One of the best fictional books I've read involving dark matter was about someone mistakenly creating a dark matter drive while trying to create a superconductor. Basically what was intended to become a superconductor was creating some sort of field similar to electromagnetism that propelled dark matter through it like a jet engine propels air/gas. They basically create a reactionless drive that, because it uses dark matter doesn't have any effect on the surrounding environment. In an attempt at humor, they also made it so that it was most efficient running through a circular drive causing the eventual ship they made to look like a flying saucer.

Rapidphantom Vr negative matter and negative energy just eliminates normal matter (dark matter, dark energy, anti matter, other exotic matters and regular matter). It completely eliminates any and all normal matter. no energy or matter comes out of the combination of negative matter and normal matter just nothing.

I have a question, when Rick froze time wouldn’t that cause light to stop as well? And if so would their shadow stay in place and wherever they walk would it turn black because they pushed the light particles out of place? Would it be possible to freeze time without this happening
Freezing time necessitates more suspension of disbelief than most science fiction concepts. As you said, light would no longer move, so all shadows would stay in place. Also, a person moving in frozen time would displace the air around them, and upon the resumption of time, that would create an infinitely large shockwave. As the air moved a certain distance in zero seconds, they experienced infinite kinetic energy.
They could just be moving really fast too. Like too the point where there not faster then light but there fast enough to "stop time" if you will. Idk if either of those are possible but it could be an option

@@simondowns2683 the interaction between "frozen" and "unfrozen" matter is dependent upon time. If you move a "frozen" particle, it is no longer frozen in time. It takes time to move it. The idea of freezing time is absurd. But in a classical sci-fi sense, it's more often then not that they are just freezing "space." If "time" were truly frozen it would stop the processes necessary to facilitate interactions with other particles.

@@cowch3916 Whenever experiments have been tried on the surface of standing water, this surface has always been found to be level. If the Earth were a globe, the surface of all standing water would be convex. This is an experimental proof that Earth is not a globe.

It is only when some one faculty or other is neglected or abused that he is deluded. Every man in full command of his senses knows that a level surface is a flat and horizontal one ; but astronomers tell us that the true level is the curved surface of a globe ! They know that man requires a level surface on which to live, so they give him one in name which is not one in fact ! Since this is the best that astronomers, with their theoretical science, can do for their fellow creatures - deceive them (unless theoretical astronomers are all out of their senses together) - it is clear that things are not as they say they are; and, in short, it is proof that Earth is not a globe.
