Holy shit! I know Raglan James! I completely forgot his name and backstory but I looked him up and now I remember the character! His appearance here is way more interesting now and I am very curious.

Your guys's assessment of Armand is pretty fucking spot on! I have not read the books but I have talked with people who have read the books and y'alls assessments about the character match up. Armand is deeply deeply insecure. And craves control. And I absolutely LOVE how you are feral for the Daniel/Armand ship. It's a pretty popular ship in the fandom(it's one of my personal faves... but I am also a multi shipper). I love how you are catching all the little glances and facial expressions that Armand is having towards Daniel. They are intentional. At this point in the show, we KNOW that Daniel has had some memories altered and things he previously couldn't remember about Armand. Indicating that they have a deeper relationship than the acquaintances that Daniel previously thought they were.
They have a very very interesting dynamic that you also kind of got really close to. The super dramatic Armand and the eyeroll grumpy Daniel It's pretty much what you were saying... With additional BDSM dynamics sprinkled in.... I'm not exactly sure how brave the show is going to be... Next episode will determine that, I suppose from what I've seen of the sneak peeks of it... I'm personally hoping that they'll be pretty brave about it, from what little the writers have shared in interviews.
But yeah Daniel and Armand are very very toxic because no ship in this universe can ever be a wholy healthy one 🤣...but a very very good match for each other. From what I've seen in fanfic and little snippet paragraphs from Armands book, they balance each other's energies and needs surprisingly well but of course it's a vampire romance so like some super toxic horrible shit ALSO happens.... I wouldn't suggest that these two people be in a relationship in real life ...but in a fiction story... They're pretty perfect for each other. And so I absolutely love that you two caught on to the vibe the show is putting down IMMEDIATELY. Most people watching this show on YT aren't that observant... They just see Armand making a strange expression in Daniel's direction and are not picking up on the crumbs that are being sprinkled! The show is NOT going to queerbait us... the crumbs that are being sprinkled are intentional and will have pay off...if they get the seasons obviously... It's honestly so refreshing to say that about a TV show. To have FULL confidence that we will not be queerbaited. I can count on my hand how many TV shows I've been able to do that for. 😬

honestly, I am more afraid of Louis than Armand. Louis is my favorite character but he is unhinged and an emotional rollercoaster. He's hard to predict . we've seen what he looks like when he loses it in seasons 1 and 2. Also I believe he has more power over Armand than people give him credit. Most people I have seen react to Armand as moustache twirly but I honestly can't tell who is the viper between them two. I guess the answer is both because I know for sure Armand lies but why and for who? I don't think it is solely for self. I think we get a clearer understanding of their dynamic in episode 4.

I've come to the same conclusion about Louis. He's more humane than other vampires, but when he loses it...well, it's scary (and usualy comes with some serious consequences).

Yeah, I've seen a COUPLE of people be like "wtf, Louis"... But they clearly forgot that Louis is a pimp in this version... He doesn't take any shit. "You can't look weak on Liberty Street." as he said in season 1. It was completely in character for the TV show version of the character! Lol

I get ppl love Lestat. BUT he did beat the holy hell out Louis and Terrorized Claudia her qhole existence and forced her to stay with Louis. Ill will never understand how we move past that. Man was a bastard.

exactly! i feel the same way, especially with the entire dynamic of how uncomfortable it was seeing a white man literally almost murder a black man and assaulted a black woman. like personally, it's a little too real... it's also kind of annoying to see so many people praise lestat (the white man in the situation) while consistently demonizing armand (the person of color etc.), it really feels like a bias in the fandom.

None of these characters are "good" people. How can you get past Lestats controlling and abusive behavior towards Louis and Claudia? How do you get passed Claudias sadistic and manipulative behavior, even as far as vampires go? She was a prolific murderer, who kept trophies of her victims, recorded their last words for her amusement, and kept half dead people in her closet. She is no better than Lestat or Louis. She's just as much a monster in her own way. They're all monsters. And at least Lestat truly loves Louis. Claudia has shown that she doesn't love Louis, she just tolerates him most of the time.

@@cullenarthur8879 no one said any other characters were *better* than Lestat. it's just that he, one of the only white main characters, receives consistent praise and adoration after being seen beating two black people, while all the other characters rightfully get called out. for many black people (and also some other people of color), it was an unsettling sight considering what we personally deal with every day. also, personally, i believe that Lestat's "love" for Louis is a subjective thing. others are allowed to believe that he truly loves him, but i personally don't believe that abusing a person is love because you wouldn't put your hands on them like that if you loved them etc. people who *do* think that type of thing is love often have been in abusive relationships themselves and have a warped sense of how a relationship is meant to look. but again, that's why it's subjective rather than objective because people are allowed to think differently.

@@kairosvt3000 it's just strange to me how people overlook characters murdering people on a nightly basis, keeping trophies, keeping half dead people in their closet, but physically abusing their partner one time after years of frustration and resentment is a step too far. Someone can truly love someone and lose their temper one time and turn physically abusive. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. People are not perfect, and vampires are definitely not perfect. Just because Lestat beat Louis one time does not mean he doesn't truly love him. Lestat is the main character of the Vampires Chronicles. The love between Lestat and Louis is the foundation of the whole series. All of these characters are seriously flawed. It's just strange what some people find unacceptable from them and why.
I'm not sure if you have seen the latest episode, so I won't spoil it just in case, but it might give a different perspective of Lestat, and the relationship between Louis and Armand.
