So helpful! It's very discouraging when your acne finally fades and you're left with a tonne of PIE which makes you look like you still have acne.
what is PIE?
Post inflammatory erythema meaning red spot â@@ionatana59
PIE is post inflammatory erythema, itâs similar to hyperpigmentation but it requires different treatment ingredients
I know the feeling currently dealing with PIE due to cystic acne no active acne but tons of redness from the aftermath
â@@davidaguirre2255did it get any better?
Hi Dr. Shreene. Please donât pay attention to negative comments. Your intro and calling out the skin nerds is wonderful if someone thinks the intro is to long, they should learn how to fast forward. You are awesome, appreciated and have the best advice. Thank you for taking your time to give us excellent advice. â¤ď¸Michele Fitzpatrick
Amen
Yes!!!
Well said! I love the little skin nerd intro. It's so sweet. đĽş
same!! i don't mind the intro.
I agree!!!!! I love her personality, sense of humour and light! Please donât let the minority take that away from us!
Skin saver ! Being extremely prone to hyperpigmentation and/or redness and dealing with acne for few years that is exactly what I needed !
She recommended like 10 things, which one dis u pick for hyperpigmentation?
Please keep your intros however you want! I love these videos!
â@@vanessaibarra185i use alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, glycolid acid and retionol, vit C. Combining it for 8 weeks now. It's better but not gone yet.
Your intros are NOT too long....most peopleâs attention spanâs are too short. You be you!
Your introductions are NEVER too long!! Keep up the good work. Another fascinating video!! đđťđđťđđť
Yes, I needed this! Please do a video about textured acne scars. I'm fighting both at the moment. Thank you!!!!
Please do! Iâd like to know about that too.
my indented scars make me feel so bad!
Yes, please. I have been recommended fraxel laser. I would appreciate hearing your recommendations and insights. We are very fortunate to have your generous sharing of information. Thank you, Dr. Shereene Idriss! Sending you much love and gratitude.
Also would like to know how to tackle it for those with darker skin tones, Iâve heard that lasers could worsen (the pigmentation) it. But then Iâve heard that itâs effective as well.
I would love to hear about textured acne scars too! (at home treatments & clinic treatment suggestions would be much appreciated!)
This video was an absolute informative and much needed skin problem and care. Thank you so much!
Right when I started breaking out & ended up with red acne scars. Now you post this!!!! Thank you I literally love you queen
I am always looking forward to your videos every single week and there is nothing wrong with your intros. Please donât change. You are the best â¤ď¸
the fact that i was looking for videos about post inflammatory erythema just a few hours ago and you, my main source of skin care advice on youtube, posted a video about it an hour ago is wild to me! thank you so much dr. shreene :)
To put it simple and straight, you woke me from a long slumber. Now I feel the need to change and that's what I have started to do, mainly thanks to your powerful influencing videos. I remain thankful beyond words. Now whenever the class will be in session and you're in charge, I'll be there to pick the wisdom you gift away. I remain sincerely thankful. Stay Blessed.
Please do a video about textural acne scars and most importantly how to treat them! Thank you so much for your great videos!
Hi Dr. Shreene .
This video was on fire with information, recommendations, examples and careful advice. Plus the humor that makes watching this video a joy to watch. Skin issues can be heavy on a person. Trying to approach it with a passionate but light attitude is relatable.
We are here in the Skin Nerds Club to learn and to take action. To not lose hope and keep trying.
Thank you for your time, attention to detail and personality to make this interaction between you and little skin nerds club happen every Saturday.
I love how detailed your videos are! And love the longer videos too đ would love a video on textured scarring and in office procedures for PIH and scarring
I totally agree. I go to a dermatologist and I learn SO much more about my skin from watching these videos.
Love love how she breaks this down I HAVE NEVER seen such a well detailed explanation and solutions for skin concerns ⤠simply amazing and very much appreciated đ¤đ¤â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
your voice is so soothing I could listen to you talk all day
I personally watch you because you are relatable⌠pay no attention to critics⌠love your direct and funny content. Top notch info, low tech is best. We arenât the doctor, you are. Lol
You are an absolute godsend Shereene. I've had no idea where to begin with my acne scars and did not want to waste my money on products that might not work but now I know what could help. Thank you!
I dont think you intro is too long at all, personally I love it. I look forward to your videos every week and personally my biggest skin concern is PIE, has seen such huge improvement in my skin since following your channel and I started using la roche posay cicplast baume balm a few months ago when I saw you recommending it, it has been a game changer. Thank you
Yes please, teach us about textural scars. I have a whole assortment of scars from my acne and I need all the help I can get. Thank you sooooo much! You are the best!
Thank you for the Walgreens hypochlorous acid advice. My teens hate me for chasing them down for a face spritz - but they thank me in a couple of years!
I love your intros and being called skincare nerds. Your intros help us to get to know you and enjoy your personality. đ
We get your wisdom once a week and enjoy all the time we get. đ

Another great and informative video! Thank you!!! And yes please can you do a video on textured acne scars? I am definitely blessed to have post acne hyperpigmentation scars that fade fairly easilyâŚthe textured scarring on the other hand can be devastating at times 𼺠Thank you again and I canât wait for your next video! đ
Thank you & please do not take each comment seriously. I love you're being yourself, very enthusiastic, digressing and doing introductions as long as you wish to. I like you make your videos fun! :) Without this component I would get bored because of all the seriousness of the topics and in consequence I would just learn less.
FINALLY! Someone is talking about post inflammatory erythema! I'm Fitzpatrick phototype 1 and PIE is what I've battled! Thank you for covering this!
You're the most informative channel on the toic of skin care and deserve more likes on this video. Thanks for being super thorough. And super thanks from someone who is in a tight spot and can't afford to go to a dermatologist right now. â¤ď¸
Oh yes, my whole life story. My scaring is not as rough in sense of surface but the discoloration is there and it's brown ish and goes worse with sunlight. So what I do is eucerin and AHA. And azaelic acid. Love your bracelets. Thank you for your advices.
Yes please do a video on textural scarring and treatment options! Your videos are so helpful!

Your skin is gorgeous! I love the advice that overall skin tone consistency goes a long way. Thank u for your channel.
Would love to hear more about dealing with textured scars!
Much needed video!! Your videos always brighten my Saturdays! â¤ď¸đĽł
Your intros are great, you are a charmer, can't have too much of that!
I personally love your intros!! Definitely not too long!
A video on how to treat dark stained armpit will totally help. I also just want to say that your knowledge and recommendations has transformed my cystic acne to beautiful clear skin. I also want to thank you for taking your time to create all of these videos. Sincerely thank you sooo much, since having no insurance or money to go to a dermatologist your videos helps a lot of people like myself.
. I mixed tumeric powder from a capsule with lemon juice from a lemon and sugar to make a scrub. I used this like 4 times a week and it cleared my pits
donât worry about the introduction. i love it and iâm sure that almost everyone else does too :) iâd like to hear your skin and hair tips for swimmers if you get the chance
Love đ your advices as much as your intro!!! Keep us informed and educated!
Your skin nerd army loves you and think your intro is perfect! You teach us so much! Donât change a thing âĽď¸âĽď¸
I needed this so badly. I get one acne every month and the scar lasts forever
Youâre awesome! Please donât worry about your intro. I appreciate your wise and scientific advice
Your channel is one of the best things I've found recently. Thank you!
Yes please! Need a video on textural scars too!! â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸
Yes please do a video on textural scars! I've had 2 RF microneedling treatments but sadly without great results. And I have darker skin, fitzpatrick 4-5, so I'm not sure about lasers. Hearing what you have to say would be wonderful!
Hi Dr Shreene, don't worry about your videos being long they are very informative. I'd love to hear about textured acne scars and about stretching marks. Thank you for your videos!

Iâm definitely hyped for a video on scars and texture! :)
I really like how you include pieces of information from the medical side of the topic. I actually really AM a science nerd so I love doctors who don't speak to their audience like we are all unable to comprehend anything past the 5th grade level, lol. So, thank you for that!
Hey doc! Honestly this came at a good time! I suffered from a big breakout due to the mask on my chin and it left a lot of hyperpigmentation. I will take note of all this!
Dr. I love your intros!!! And all the content, could you please talk about peptides and grow factors?
My fav doctor in youtube, always have the video that I wanted to watch!
Love your videos! This one is so very helpful. I'm looking forward to watching one on texture scars.
Yes! Please do a video on textured acne scars! Also, does EGF serum help with textured scars?
P.s enjoyed the video â¤ď¸
Clicked faster than a mofo x We love you you beautiful human being! You are a gift to us skin nerds. You are not just helping our skin, you are helping a combination-supersensitive soul like me living in a humid tropical country of the PH --- with my mental health by understanding the complexity of skin and the things than can and can't help em âĽď¸đđź
I love your videos, super helpful. I've suffered from acne for 9 years, used a ton of products, and visited dermatologists. Your videos have helped me understand my skin more â¤
This video was so so so helpful! Thank you! I would love to see a video on texture scars, there's not too many well informed, and reliable videos out there for what to do about them. Thank you for a great video!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience in a fun way. Love your videos
Thanks for the video, as always informative! The ordinary also has a nice alpha arbutin. Tropicals/Faded has a cocktail serum/cream that is very good for PIH, itâs also hydrating. âşď¸
đđđ thank you for this! Literally the first time I have had different types of scaring explained this way. I now know I have post inflamatory erythema that I have been trying to treat with PIH products.
Would love a video on textural acne scars as that's what I struggle with most!
This is very helpful! Currently struggling with PIE on my temples, and some of the ingredients youâve mentioned were things I never knew would work. Currently using niacinamide. Would try some of the things you mentioned! Thank u for this!
Hi Shereene, thanks again for a lovely video! I was wondering whether some of the products you mentioned for post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation would also work on other parts of the body.
Last summer, I accidentally poured some boiling water on myself and got a second-degree burn on my thigh. It cured nicely but I now have a 20x5cm darker spot on my thigh. Iâm guessing it, too, is due to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation?
After getting the burn I took a lot of care not to expose it to the sun at all and then, luckily, we went into winter! But the spot is still there despite it being months since the accident happened.
Any help is appreciated â¤ď¸
PS: I love that you actually explain to us the pathophysiology of different conditions and then explain how the various cosmetic/chemical compounds work to tackle the issues đđź
You're amazing! This video could not come at a better time! Thank you for sharing!
Dr. Idriss, you are by far the most amazing derm on the you tube. please keep what you are doing. Love your work and cant wait to see meet you in person.
Hi Dr. Shereene, I am a final year medical student and I have always been interested in dermatology but watching your videos has made me very determined to pursue dermatology as my speciality after medical school. Thank you for making such amazing and informative videos based on facts and verified data. How can I do my elective under your supervision? Where do I apply? It would be a dream come true! :)
Thank you again for another informative video, love slowly being educated while hungover in bed : )
Would love to know more about long-term textured scars, as i've had an acne scar on my nose since I was about 15 that's slightly raised and often becomes more red : (
I'm late to this channel but I'm so happy I found your account! I've never had such bad skin until now, and I recently discovered it was caused by diet, specifically chicken (bc hormones). Your account has one of the most, if not the most informative videos and I'm so grateful for your tips and advice. Thank you!
You have an absolutely gorgeous voice! Very unique and soothing yet intrigued! Iâve a lot of acne scars so this was quite helpful, thank you!

Dr. Idriss, thank you so much for all of your skincare guidance! I don't know what my skin would have done without you... love from Hong Kong!!
I'm so so grateful for all your videos! I've been binge-watching them for the last fortnight and I've learned SO much! I completely overhauled my skincare routine based on your recommendations and advice, and someone already (unprompted) said my skin is looking good. I'd LOVE a video on hollowing under the eyes. I feel like as I'm ageing, my tear troughs are losing volume and it's the main thing that's bothering me. I was wondering if there are any products that can improve it. A lot of the ones I've seen are hyaluronic acid-based, which I now know is not a great ingredient.
Hi gorgeous, do not let anyone bully you. You are an absolute gem and we enjoy every single second of your vlogs! You are beautiful, brilliant, and full of so much personality!! You have so much valuable information to share with us! We appreciate you!! Do not change a thing!!

Please make a video about textured scars ... especially in places where its hard to treat like the nose!
Hypochlorus acid is so underrated! After learning about it through you and trying it (especially spraying my mask I wear 9-10 hours a day), I got everyone at my job using it because of how great it is haha.
Thoclor gf2 changed my life. Itâs the only non-diluted one btw. Grab it
@@bf9323 thank you! Iâll check that out!
Hey!! no matter what people say, you keep doing you!! A lot of people like to comment negatively to get attention. Your intros were just great don't listen to the people telling you what to do. That's the mistake many influencers make
Hi Dr. Shereene! I agree please disregard the negative comments about your intro! Thank you again for another amazing video of you sharing your skin care knowledge! Please I would love to hear another video about texture! I am 33 and about to start rotations! I need all the help I can get! thank you again!
I was waiting for you to cover this topic! Thank you so much!!
I was wondering when in your routine you would incorporate hypochlorous acid? Before: instead of toner? Can you also spray it on throughout the day on top of your sunscreen? Thanks so much in advance!
More about hypertrophic scars please! Iâve had many excisions of abnormal moles and the stitches left me with raised scar bumps worse than the incisions themselves. âšď¸
Try scaraway silicone gel! It helps to flatten hypertrophic scars. If that doesnât work try co2 lasers

Oh I love your introductions! So warm and inviting âşď¸
After watching a previous video of yours I realized that the dryness and dehydration in my skin was being caused by hyaluronic acid so Iâm cutting it from my routine. My skin is naturally slightly oily so I usually go for gels, gel creams, or water creams because it doesnât feel as heavy but I canât find any really good ones that actually keep my skin moisturized at a *decent* price. Could you do a video on good moisturizer for different skin types?
Hi Dr. Idriss 3 questions. When to start botox, if ever? Do you recommend facials, and if so, what kind? What laser treatments do you recommend to keep skin youthful?
I would love a video on facials. Especially at home vs at a spa or drâs office.
She has videos of for these questions. I've seen them all.
@@rl6834 thanks I'll go look
Another dr from Taiwan recommends to start Botox treatment at your late 20s or early 30s when you first started to see wrinkles or sagging problems. I personally suggest dual yellow laser, any pico laser for basic treatment, if you need something stronger, you may consider Thermage FLX
This was amazing! Thank you so much for such an informative video. I've struggled with PIE for years, and this was exactly what I needed. Wish you were my dermatologist!
Shereene , you inspire me to work hard by showcasing your amazing knowledge and doing it in a way that is helpful. Also, I hope you would do more video on hormonal acne breakouts and how to treat it. Lots of love...
For the past few years I've had pretty bad acne on the tops of my arms and my shoulders. My scarring can be pigmented red in some places and brown in others. Is it ok to mix the treatments for each or would that cause more problems? Thanks!
P.s. this video was super helpful!
Hey late response but did you ens of getting rid of the marks?
But who are you Dr. Shereene Idriss? Are you a licensed cosmetic dermatologist based in NYC? I wouldnât know since you didnât mention it in your into đ
Iâll give that comment the benefit of the doubt that they were trying to be constructive and not hurtful⌠but I love your intros and never once thought they were too long (for what my opinion is worth)
It's like she's reading my skin's needs. Incredible
I love your intros! :) Keep your own essence!
I knew a woman many MANY years ago đ who suffered with deep, acne scarring (my husband has a few but he can hide behind a beard đ) and she had a procedure done that was like sanding the face. I don't recall what it was called and the healing the process was a while. It looked scary, I won't deny but then it healed and WOW it was amazing how much better she looked. It had taken up so much visual space in her appearance I honestly didn't know what she really looked like! What a difference this made to her confidence which was the best benefit of the whole procedure. She threw an abusive husband to the curb, landed a great job and went on to enjoy a so much better life. It was astounding what a difference this procedure made in her life. I would even go so far as to say it was the best investment she ever made. I do think creams can help but if the scarring is severe I do think it's worth investing in the procedure in a derms office if it's affordable.
Hey Kathleen, thank you for sharing. Do you know the name of the treatment?
@@MsLovication Hi Green Gold! Sorry but it was decades ago and I honestly can't recall - I want to say "dermabrasion" but I can't be 100% sure.
Hi! Iâm always wondering which products to apply (and not) to eye area. It seems like you donât apply sunscreen or vitamin c, retinol but those are the places I feel I need those most. đâ¤ď¸
you can put vitamin c around the eye area and you definitely should put sunscreen around your eyes! as for retinol, iâve watched dr. shereeneâs video (i forgot which one) but basically you can dilute the retinol with your moisturizer to make it less strong for the eye area
Hi!!! Youâre amazing and I want to thank you so much for sharing all of your tips, trick, and knowledge with us. So much information that is available to the consumers is either false or way too confusing. You simplify it in the most amazing way. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I would like to suggest two topics for future videos. Two issues that my husband deals with are bumps from shaving, now that he is going back to the office more often, and can no long wear his beloved beard. The second is a long time struggle with folliculitis on his head. Before we met he thought it was psoriasis, but itâs clearly not, which is why the over the counter treatments for psoriasis were not working.
Any suggestions would be amazing!
Again love, love, love your videos and you because youâre so genuine and happy. Your videos make me smile and keep me motivated/entertained while doing my skin care routine.

Your videos are extremely helpful! I got a prescription strength azeliac acid after watching your video on the topic. what brands do you use ? for vitamin c, niacinamide
Vitamin C from Skinceuticals and niacinamide from Glossier

Hi Shereene! I was wondering, does hydroquinone (like in Ambi cream) fade red post-acne marks? I know it's advertised to fade brown spots but does it work on red spots too or is another ingredient better for that? Thank you!
You should check with the glass test that dr Idriss showed us if your redness is made up of pigment or bloodvessels. If the red marks are make up of pigment hydroquinone will probably work because its a tyrosinase inhobitor so it stops the production of melanin. :)
I really appreciate you sharing that information about your dear husband. It's very comforting to know that even being married to one of the top dermatologists it's okay to not always have perfect skin. But he is so fortunate to have you!
I literally wrote over 3 pages of notes. Thank you so much Dr.Idriss!!
I suffer from acne scars, mostly icepicks, and I'm not sure what types of laser treatments would help me approve the appearance of my skin. What would you recommend? Many thanks for considering my request. Take care.
