Far beneath the majesty and splendour of the Paris Opera House, hides the Phantom in a shadowy existence. Shamed by his physical appearance and feared by all, the love he holds for his beautiful protégée Christine Daaé is so strong that even her heart cannot resist.
The musical opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in the leading roles, and there have been dozens of productions worldwide since then. Now in its 30th record-breaking year, The Phantom of the Opera continues to captivate audiences at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London’s West End, after more than 11,000 performances.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerizing score along with jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking special effects, magically combine to bring this tragic love story to life each night. - Hudba
"I'm a really terrible pianist" he says. 🙄
Right?? If I could only play like he can, dang.
If only I can play piano at all.. even just half as his talent with music and piano skills.. I will be happy ;)
I used to play piano but I did not find it fun so I stopped but if I loved this musical while I was still playing Id try to learn these songs and play them. Although playing piano has really helped me with reading notes and Im really good at sight reading because of it.
He's comparing himself to other musicians.
LOL right......he had it all memorized and then he winged it as he went along...............
2020 beating the hell out of me but phantom cleaning me up hugging me n giving me water
BIG MOOD
Glad to help.
You're in danger, he's a highly unstable individual
@@madkappa4428 ?
I could get behind this. Also would love to be taught how to throw a lasso.
I’M GONNA CRY I ADORE THIS MUSICAL MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF AND I’M SO HAPPY THAT IT’S COME SO FAR
SAME OMG
I know what you mean Mikey. We saw it in the West End many years ago, and it still hypnotises me. I love singing the amazing songs from this still amazing show. Bless Andrew for keeping its "spirit" alive.
Unsure about more then life but certainly a brilliant master piece phantom of the opera l love masquerade favorite song among the others as for life is the most precious time gift to mankind to be alive on this planet nothing can dominate that, not even music.
@@Angel-lj2kw Yes, Masquerade is a great song! All the songs in Phantom are wonderful though, but then I am first and foremost a musical theatre and show song singer, opera being my second genre.
Mikey M :D I have seen the Broadway NY version 14 times, I utterly agree!
I have vowed to watch everything I can find for Phantom of the Opera, so having this show up on my recommended was a real treat.
Just a music and time stamp reference for everyone:
0:59- Angel of Music (or Wandering Child, take your pick)
1:54- Music of the Night
2:25- Masquerade
2:47- Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again
3:19- All I Ask of You
3:53- Phantom of the Opera
@Javyn Eidelbes, of course! It's my pleasure.
It's a good lead-in to the stream, too. T-minus 3minutes, for me.
thank you!
Biggest fake news of 2020 is Andrew Lloyd Webber saying he's a terrible pianist when he knows just slayed my life
In the world of piano, this was pretty simple and his skills/chops are basic. He knows this because he works with actual pianists, like ... monsters on the keyboard. Plenty of composers aren't fantastic instrumentalists, he's just one of them.
OMGG, I CRIED SO BAD I REALLY WANT TO WATCH IT ON BROADWAYYYYY😭😭😭😭😭 MISS THEM SINGING SO BAD
Well you can watch the 25th anniversary on CZcams right now. I know it different being there but it is still epic.
You still can! 😉
He’s one of these people who I could listen all the time when they talk. What a charisma. I study musical theatre now, I wish I could meet him in person someday.
That would be way cool! Add that to the bucket list...
😊
Me too Magda. I sing musical theatre and opera, but MT is probably my top genre, and I especially love singing the Phantom songs.
Aw how i wish i have the braveness of doing something that loud. 😢
@@dianeshepherdlyricsoprano1394 I learn opera now too! my bf is an opera soloist and classical singing teacher.
He is a genius.
the doggo though 🤣
Pupper of the Opera 😃
" bear with me.
Oh goodness be
We got a dog you see "
🥰😄🥰
This man is so sweet 🌷
Ooh Sarah cameo you say? I love her! I've been a fan of her Peterson-produced albums even longer than I've been a fan of Phantom!
Look at him, look at his set up he's turning into Erik in isolation
😂 I noticed that too!
“Oh goodness me, we’ve got a dog, you see!” Probably the most *English* phrase I’ve ever heard spoken...love it! 😄 Love the medley and arrangement as well. And if Andrew really thinks he’s a terrible pianist, then I need give up right now and tell my students to find another teacher, as I wish I could play that well! 😁 🎹
Anyone else singing along in their head? The changes between the songs were so natural, they flowed into each other, one of the many things that make this show so special
I want to see phantom of the opera live xx
It’s amazing
Me too! So hoping the tour comes back to Seattle when covid is over!
TimeandMonotony yes
take notes, if my future man doesnt sing all i ask of u as an engagement, i dont want him
I guess you want a raoul then. Meanwhile I’d love someone to sing music of the night
@@Emoxsal honestly why not both
I thought the "theater" was just a backdrop on a greenscreen... but now I'm thinking it just has to do with some unfortunate lighting. I think he's really there!
It's on his property...it was common for English aristocracy to want a private church
My childhood and youth, I played a role as Christine in a singing club- 10 years later, I am 26, yet I still hear my angle of music singing in my head sometimes. My dream is that my partner in the future also loves the songs from the musical so I can maybe sing together?🙊
Anyways.
Love the musical, love the music!
Long live the Phantom of the Opera!
Absolutely ‘The Dream’.
Okay, so I have like 3 weeks to learn this before Halloween, when I play the pipe organ at a local church. Can I do it? Let's hope so! It would be so much fun!
If you need sheet music, check out Musescore; it's free so no worries about paying. If you want to arrange your own stuff Flat.io (free but needs an account) is good for starting out, but if you want really polished-looking music try Noteflight (also free and also needs an account). Flat is a little easier to work with so I'd recommend it if you've never worked with music notation software before, but Noteflight has a better end product. I usually find music on Musescore, then copy/transpose it for another instrument on Noteflight.
It's possible for sure! I taught myself some Phantom songs a few weeks ago as well, and with the right amount of dedication and motivation it's absolutely doable.
Can we please get Sierra, Ramin and Hadley to step back into their roles from the 25th anniversary show next year for a filmed version of Love Never Dies??
Yeeeees please 🤩
Yesss!!
Omg yes please 😍😍
please!!!
I saw that in San Francisco with ex wife. Love it and wish could see it again with my partner now
Him: "I'm a terrible pianist" Me (A composer, but the worst musician in the world!): Oh, maybe I do still have hope! ...You are literally amazing sir!
in the world of piano ... it really was nothing to write home about. lovely melodies ... nothing impressive in technical terms of piano chops.
@@cloudambient Let people live and compliment him goddamn
@@Confractus_ They're allowed to say and do what they want. I am too. Relax.
If it weren't for my parents I would never had even heard of the phantom of the opera.
When Andrew Lloyd Weber was playing "Wishing you were somehow here again" it allways makes me tearup.
What’s most amazing is he can’t play many of the songs in their original keys because of his arthritis so he just transposes them on the spot. Incredible.
I was twelve when I first saw the movie in theater, I then saw it again by myself a week later. First time I cried during a movie. I saw the play when they came to town on my 18th birthday and the day I graduated highschool. I still listen to the music on the way to work.
This is "phan"tastic, ALW!! I love your music!! My dream is to meet you and sing for you in person. I have been anxious to meet you for years.
Write a letter to him l'm sure he is at home alot in his office.
I saw the show for the first time in Toronto in the glory days of Livent! It was my first theatrical love and you never forget your first true love. I’ve seen the show almost twenty times and every time I leave the theater with the same thought - it is the perfect theatrical evening!
Paul Stanley of Kiss he was the Phantom in the Toronto production of Phantom as well as Colm Wilkerson.
I missed this musical so much 😭😭💓
Phantom is my favorite play of any I have ever seen in my adult lifetime.
It's s big dream of mine to watch the biggest production Phantom possible, having never watched it live. I hope I'll be able to before I die.
This is marvelous. There IS still some beauty in this lousy, angry, ugly world.
Whats the name of that theatre?
I think it is Her Majesty's Theatre.
Sydmonton it's the theatre in the grounds of his house where phantom premiered
Sydmonton, where the first act stage show was premiered
Stud Theater along Santa Monica Blvd
The power of music is awsome. I can vividly feel the impression and emotion of past time. Thank you Andrew
I Saw PHANTOM OF THE OPERA 7 Times Live On Stage
It's amazing how after all these years... he just happens to have all this music inside his head, and can just recall it so easily! Such a great mind!
I wish it come to sacramento ca I've only seen the 2004 movie
Tonight! Andrews channel, the shows must go on, is showing it tonight, and it’ll be up for 48 hours
Oh... I really love this musical and seeing ALW and hearing him play really gives me goosebumps... However.. I still haven't watched it live on a theatre... I really wish I could...
Sou brasileiro. Amo o Fantasma da Ópera e gostaria de agradecer porque é um grande musical que me inspira a querer contar histórias e um dia quem sabe fazer um musical também. Forever Phantom of the Opera!🌹
Never been here so early lol
I adore The phantom of the Opera, in my opinion it's a better soundtrack in the story of musical. ❤️ I adore all leitmotive played in this video, but my favorite is "All I ask of you" singed also by Barbra Streisand and "The phantom is there". There is another beautiful soundtrack in this piece "No one would listen" is amazing ❤️. I'm 🇮🇪 Italian
This is amazing! I love Phantom of The Opera!!💖💖💖
Absolutely adore this musical, everything about it gives me chills and i love the music. Seeing this was amazing and has made my day. Also a huge fan of andrew lloyd webber ❤
!!!Muchas felicidades!!! Lo maximo..
I saw Phantom when I was twelve in 1989 (or something) and it never left me. It inspired me to write musicals and orchestral music, and now I do, though not professionally, sadly.
I wish to be such a terrible pianist 😂
I’m six days late, but I watched the 2004 movie and listened to the Phantom soundtrack, let’s just say I have a new comfort musical even though it ripped out my heart and stomped on it
Best musical ever!!! 😷
The best musical ever! I mean it. In fact, you've created a new genre: a perfect mixture of a real opera and a real musical as well. You don't have to be a perfect pianist but you are a perfect composer for sure! This creation of yours had the strongest impact on my life and the life of my daughter. It did changed their normal course. I've always wandered why the repetition (twice) in the middle of the rising melodic pattern towards the end of the main theme song, and she said: "of-course, she is in the middle of a vocal lesson by her teacher and he instructs her to do it again, better this time...". The real essence of the Phantom is not love (although there is also love, besides passion, envy, hate, greed, humor, etc., in this musical work) but his art and his desire to transfer it to the world, using Christin's voice. In fact. love prevented him from fulfilling his ambition. Thank you Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber for enriching our lives with your music, and for this uploading.
He will be remembered as a modern day ‘Puccini’.
Thank you Baron Lloyd Webber for the encore!I felt bad for Eric again!😭Happy 34 th anniversary POTO!
I cannot wait until Phantom streams again in 45 minutes! I love Phantom so much! This sounded amazing!
I love The Phantom of the Opera! In 2006 I arrived to NYC for the first time, I stayed a few days for a training and had the opportunity to go to Broadway to see the musical. I immediately fell in love with the musical, the characters and story, and I have been a big fan since then! I bought the movie, I have watched it many times, and I would never get bored of watching it. On my bday I had an awesome surprise gift from my "host family" from the cultural exchange program I was, it was a big framed poster of the Phantom. Unfortunately, I don't have it here with me now but I have amazing memories of those years and the Phantom of the Opera was a very special part of my life. I would've never imagined that years later in a different stage of my life, The Phantom of the Opera was gonna be a part of life again but in a different way. During the pandemic, it was amazing to be able to watch the musical online. I have watched many actors played the Phantom and Christine but I discovered Sierra and Ramin to be my favorite Phantom of the Opera and Christine, or the best.
I will always remember how special it was for me during the pandemic, and I am so grateful for you for sharing the musical all over the world during such a hard time for everyone.
Thank you so much with all my heart! ❤🙌🙏✨
Your music makes the world a better place!
Phantom of the Opera will always have a special place in my heart. My 1st love. Listening to it's beautiful masterpieces always bring me an enchanting feeling and memories.

This music has been a part of my life for 32 years now - time really flies! I still remember a very handsome young man with his beautiful girlfriend at the Aspects of Love show, how beautiful life must be for them at that time! I am sure they would remember that for a lifetime!
Is so beatiful :"3 i love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love everything Phantom-related! Happy Anniversary! and I love the dog. Dogs make everything better.
He creates such magic with his music. I’m always amazed how it moves me each time like it was the first time I ever heard it being played.
Absolute bangers
Watching these you tubes and 'getting to know' ALW and hear all the music has been my saving my heart and soul during this terrible time. Many thanks to you Sir.
I has one of been my favorites since I was a child, until now. I was 5 when I first watched the play, 11 yrs later and this is still my favorite of all. Might as well made me who I am today, I'm in a choir because I was inspired to sing atleast Think of Me. This would be forever in our hearts and I would deeply share this to the next generations.
What a gentleman. Thank you from my heart for bringing me and the world your amazing talent x
Seen it twice, once in London and once at the Alhambra theatre in Bradford. Both amazing experiences.
the dogggg lmaooooo
Absolutely wonderful. Everything about the story and music is nothing short of genius. Played excellently despite your modesty sir
What a fitting tribute! I saw Phantom in Toronto every chance I could, during the 10 year run, a touring company and the 25th anniversary tour.
My favorite musical of all time! ! !
Wishing you were somehow here again is one of my very faves! 🎵❣️🌟🎵❣️
"I'm a really terrible pianist" he said
Lovely!❤Sir Webber we want the "Phantom" in Rome ,please!!!👻👹
Thank you for giving Phantom to the world, Sir. I hope everything goes back to normal soon and it reclaims its place in the theatre.

I love the Phantom of the Opera. The story, the music, everything! Andrew Webber, you made something amazing!
I am so fortunate to have been able to see it twice earlier this year in Toronto. It was excellent! I cannot wait for live theatre to come back!
What a gift he’s given so many people. The talent boggles the mind......
I love him so much and he is the person that introduced me to music so thank you sir for all of this and happy late birthday to the phantom
My all time favorite musical so far❤️ I was astounded when I found out that there is really a lake under the opera house in Paris. 4:11, Excuse me, Lord Lloyd-Webber, I cannot agree with you on that. All you need is your own music score😅 And your dog may want a role in the show too🤣
Happiest Belated Birthday, loved the presentation, Thank You Andrew Lloyd Weber
Genius confirmed
I love this musical more than life itself 🥺 my all time favourite
I'm reading the comments and WHERE ARE YOU PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE I'm 14 and know absolutely no one other than my mom that appreciates the musical. Whenever I try to talk about it to my sister she just walks away, but so many people online love it??? I need for POTO fans in my life
I'm in love with these melodies....
Thank you mister Andrew!
can we please get a 35th anniversary with Sierra, Ramin and Hadley when quarantine is over? it would be amazing, to see them reprising their roles ten years later

Loved this ! Happy birthday Phantom. Hopefully we celebrate together next year...
OMG! That's awesome! Thank you!
I could listen to ALW on piano all day. Desperate to hear that blasting number from Cinderella in full.
My goodness! What beautiful music comes out of your head! I love to hear you play the piano.
