    Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.
    He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who revelled in his own contradictions.
    All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. All formats released September 2nd 2016.

      Interesting perspective, I suppose. But 110% inaccurate. The Arts are limited only by the human imagination, which should be limitless. By projecting your own shortcomings in terms of this non-challenging challenge, you’ve closed your mind to possibility. Part of what makes this unique is its incredible unlikelihood. It’s never “a thing” until it’s a thing. Just because you can’t imagine it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Pavarotti often did mashups for a charity he supported. Sting. Whitney Houston. And yes… Miss Grace Jones.

    • @Ozymandi_as
      @Ozymandi_as Před 2 lety +10

      It's fun, it's well done, and the relationship between the singers is interesting and touching. But it's also a bit kitsch! For collaborations that may in fact have matched or exceeded it, one only has to think of Freddie's duet with David Bowie, Under Pressure. Or what about George Michael and Aretha Franklin. Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. Stevie Wonder and Syreeta, I mean they're not hard to come up with.
      Freddie ranged over many styles, and brilliantly. Montserrat Cabailles sang in a more restricted field, but it's difficult to overstate how good she was at something that is incredibly difficult to do. Those floated high notes that were one of her calling cards, would achieve miraculous smallness, without falling apart, an effect that in many operas she was able to deploy to sublime effect. Freddie was a natural singing talent, and he worked his voice. But he could not have sung opera without training, and nor did she. She really worked hard to achieve the sound that made her career. It's really hard. So, this was a duet, by two legendary singers who allowed themselve this opportunity to explore one another's art, and meld the two together. Montserrat was not Freddie's backing singer.

    Это настоящий шедевр, над которым не властно время! Никто и никогда так не споёт. Можно слушать бесконечное число раз и каждый раз восхищаться непревзойденным исполнением. Завидую тем, кто это видел вживую.

    *_Beautiful video and song. Singing with Montserrat Caballe was one of Freddie's dreams that came true. They both look so happy and excited--it makes me smile every time I watch them interact._*

      Yes, because Montserrat Caballé's voice was Freddie's favourite female voice ever. He longed for singing with her, so she did it on the condition that he wrote a song from the city where she was born and had lived all her life

      I can listen almost every kind of music.
      From the classical music, opera, through things like Carlos Santana, rock, pop, metal,...
      Pavarotti and The Iron Maiden, Queen and Mozart, Elvis Presley and The Beatles,...
      But Freddie Mercury was a really amazing artist, a great entertainer, superb singer and probably the best one ever.

    Estaba contenido en gran Freddie... 3:43 Le dio la mano... le dio un beso y se despidio como diciendo : "perdon Montserrat si queres que esto salga bien DEJAME SER YO" .... ¡¡Que enorme y magistral cantante fue el GRAN FREDDIE MERCURY !! Lejos el mejor de todos los tiempos. ❤
