Great comparison, very helpful for identifying the strength and weaknesses that each set has.
What a great video. You can tell he carefully considered what we want to know as filmmakers. Amazing job dude
The BEST review comparing those three sets of wireless mic system, big shout for that! Excellent job and subscribed
Good review thanks. I think DJI is still the best option,n. I like the fact that you have full control on the device itself... I think the connection with the computer is the simplest one, no need for an application, those two factors are key for me.
For transmitters without a lock for the lavalier cable, just use a small piece of tape to secure the cable. I have used this for years, and never had the lav mic napped out from the transmitter.
You sold me on the DJI Mic awhile back, still satisfied with that
Thank you for making this! I’ve been comparing the Rode and DJI mics for a couple months now and couldn’t decide. Your videos are always so helpful.
So which did you decide to get?
@@GeelongCableLocations yes.same question
It’s been two months.
Tell us
@@GeelongCableLocationsRode due to higher backup quality and ability to plug in a lav. I don’t like the size of the Rode and would prefer the ability to adjust settings on the unit, but losing audio is too much of a risk when traveling for shoots.
Yeah, okay, sticking with the DJI I already have, thanks to the User Guide you created for it. I have to review it before every use since I don't film daily. There is just too much to remember across all my devices. Appreciate the comparisons in this video❗
Thank you Jeven really appreciate you doing this comparison as I wasn't sure which one I wanted to buy till your review
Jeven, thank you for this wireless mice comparison video. Your production was outstanding and I felt with bias. Well Done, Sir 👏👏
I've always loved wireless mice because they're furrier than the wired type. Plus they love you when you give them cheese, whereas the wired mice kind of ignore you. Definitely wireless mice!
He visto un montón de vídeos de micros, este es sin duda alguna el mejor
Muchas gracias !!!
Thank you, Jeven. Very well done and informative. Have a great day! 😀
This is a great video. Very well explained and Comparison of each one.
Excellent review with a detailed comparison. Well done !
Fantastic video man! Very easy to follow. Greetings from Spain.
Always great to watch your videos 😃👍
Nice video Jeven! I don't have any of them but if I could pick I think I would go with the DJI mic system. It seems like it has a lot of good features and is easy to use!
Got the dji absolutely love it! Plug on my phone and job done is brilliant. Looking at getting the rode too😅
The DJI also gives you noise canceling and bluetooth, neither of which are available on the Rode. The ability to easily pair with your phone for vlogging could be a game changer for some.
Needed this video, thanks
There’s quite a few around now, very good, also without the backup, for at least half price.
Brilliant video bro thanks for this!
Superb comparison….well done ❤
GREAT review! well done, thank you!
Great video that! Really useful! Off to DJI I go 👏🏼👏🏼
you can use a usb battery for the rode (and probably the others) in your pocket to get longer battery times. Makes sense with an additional lav mic, might be a bit clunky with using the just the transmitters.
Thought I'd be your millionth sub- not quite but it'll be well deserved when you get it
Been using the DJI for the past year and a half. Very satisfied. Will not upgrade till something pathbreaking comes along.
do you prefer it over the other mentioned in the video?
@@onespeed16 I have only used the Rode. It is not hugely different. But I prefer the convenience of the DJI.
Can you connect the DJI mic to a DJI drone? That would blow my mind if I could use it with my Mavic 3 Classic.@@KrishnenduKes
Great video, thank you 🙌🏾
Do you have a backpack that you can recommend for electronics? Im rocking the Mini 4 Pro, The X360, a Sony DSLR with 2 lense, a Gopro, and a phone!!! I dont like taking my mega backpack looking for something compact with some protection and utility.
Thank you for this video! Rode is the one for me🎯💯
Great interpretation. Thank you.
Great review! Ty
Thank you for your kind info❤
Thank you for the video. I'm not sure my pending decision has been swayed by all the great info you've put here. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent review.
Is this good for run and gun shoots? Does it automatically turn on the microphone when you turn on the Sony camera? Or do you have to wait and pair it all the time? I want to get this one but I’m afraid to miss Vlog shots if I need to wait for it to pair compared to a normal shotgun mic. Would love an answer since I can’t find it anywhere. Thanks mate.
have you experienced less interference issues with the Pro in comparison to the GO ii?
I get a lot of interference on my GO ii from the transmitters in conjunction with the Sennheiser MKE2 lav mics.
To get a proper recording, I actually have to turn the receiver off and just hope everything goes well, since I cannot monitor the recording.
Are all of these line of sight connected? Will any of them still record if you face away from the camera? What would be some good options for that?
Thank you sir. Also please guide me .Can I use these mics replacing a hands free wireless lavalier mic which has transmitter, and a receiver .That way to address from a stage, like a pastor teaching his congregation during church meetings . ? Please confirm.
The two RØDE Lavaliere II mics included with the RØDE system sell for $99 each if bought separately. That's a data point worth considering,...
Great comparison thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Absolutely fantastic comparison.
Thank you!
Thanks for this Jeven. Ive had so many issues with my Rode wireless go II (constantly turning mics off etc) that I was seriously considering the DJI. The Rode wireless I was great though (apart from the wind cover falling off and only having one mic) and is till going strong after a lot of use. Decisions decisions..... do I risk the next Rode or switch manufacturer?
Can I plug any of these into my DJI Mavic 3 Pro's controller and record to it or will only the DJI work?
Jeven, very informative comparison. Sony has proprietary on camera feature when used with Sony cameras. Rode has advantage of 32 bit but is so much chunkier than DJI. I’ll continue with DJI and look forward to the next DJI refresh.
Same here
Same
Same
Next Test: a vlogging camera that don't overheat. 🥵
The rode looks nice. Has the receiver the same size as the other versions? I like to attach the wireless go in the invisible spot of the Insta360 X2 with the ulanzi pt20. I'm thinking about getting a two microphones-solution for this setup.
Thank you sir.
But let me ask you a doubt. I want to use it as a wireless hands free mic. Therefore as it is not UHF system ,will not the signals from mobiles etc. systems in the vicinity ,interfere when I use it as a public address system ( not for camera recording) .
I like that you can hear the quality shoot up on the rode whenever you change to it
grats on 1m subs bro
Great comparison! Your review has sealed my deal. My Rode is being delivered today, I ordered it 2 days ago.
If you don't mind me asking, which camera did you use for this review?
Great image quality.
I bought the rode pro. Just fyi you can put on the windscreen and the 3.5 cable in the case aswell.
New to video production, nicely done video. You mentioned time code with the Rode. Is that necessary to synch audio and video together later in editing? Or is that something else and separate audio could be synched later with the DJI as well? Thanks.
If you're feeding it in to a camera with a receiver, then the audio will be there already. If you're using two cameras, you'll have to sync the cameras with the timecode or the waveform. If you're just recording internally then overlaying on the video, you can sync with the timecode or waveform.
Great video thanks :)
I just started using the Rode and DJI. Does the Rode automatically do the back up audio track or do I have to turn it on?
Who ever thought that Sony's system doesn't need backup recording should be fired.
It’s a sales tactic. They’re gonna announce that for the 2nd Gen when it comes out, guaranteed.
@@motorsportvalley By then Godox has already made an Mi Shoe system and would have a much improved iteration, and expect more to come. They really dropped the ball. I have DJI Mic and would've considered this one myself.
True, for the price especially compared with the others, major lacking feature!
One of the good things in life is that people have different opinions. I think, for example, that people who shoot video without headphones to monitor the audio shoot be fired. I never used back up recording and never came back from a shooting without audio. Back up recording to cards didn't exist until recently if I am not mistaken and the world of cinema and TV broadcast did very well without it.
@@umbertoaguiar That's legit as well, but when you're costing the same while not offering internal 24-bit or even 24-bit directly to the video file then why cost the same? And yes sometimes you film someone that you can't just do again, but of course monitoring when you have a crew is essential that's why I always have a pair of headphones in my backpack.
I can't find the single DJI mic option on Amazon here in the UK
Hi Jeven , very interesting video ... for me the Rode iOS really a game changer but just one question . Could I use with the rode juste one transmitter without the transmitter to do a standalone Mic ?
Yep you can, I sometimes just take one mic and leave the other mic and the receiver behind
Thanks much!
What's the best wireless microphone for indoors? I'll just be sitting inside in my armchair, but I want it wireless so that I can keep my hands free and not worry about holding anything or having a mic on a desk. Would the DJI be good for this purpose?
I'm also hoping it won't pick up on too many background noises!
Good review. Wasn't really looking at the Sony. But needing a wireless mic and going back and forth between the DJI and Rode. Not sure either would be horrible.
Hey Jeven, hope you see this. Quick question - I heard you say it, but I just wanted to confirm because I'm still fairly new in my audio journey so I am seeking simplicity, but my question is...does the Sony ECM-W3 have a 3.5mm jack for a lav mic to be attached? I want to do some interviews, but I don't want the transmitter to be visible, so with the lav I can hide it, but I heard in another video that it did not have that option and then you said all three did have that option. So I just want to confirm before dropping $400+
Does the Sony have RCVR mode where the receiver can be used alone as a microphone? The ECM-W2bt had a switch for this mode but I don't see one on the W3. Besides being wireless, this was really the only reason I loved the Sony wireless mics. So useful.
Bro... At 11:22 When the ZVE1 overheated... My guy just Did review points for not only 3 mic systems, but also a camera system without even trying... 😂 Thanks for keeping that in there. That shows the genuineness of yourself and your channel... That being said... All 3 system's are amazing...
The Sony seemed alot more loud in my opinion... But I also heard clipping in a couple parts of the video... Plus I Use Sony Cameras and that Hotshoe would come in Clutch.
The DJI is also amazing and I love the touch screen feature, but Not having all the accessories is a bummer.
The Rode seems to have almost everything and that 32-bit... OMG Yess.. except, No Sony camera compatibility, and no Touchscreen, (idk about this feature yet) plus its HUGE compared to the Sony/DJI. (And I h8 the size its distracting, especially in a interview or short film setting, if you arent using a boom stand etc.) Overall a really difficult decision... Ughhhh
This is the review that I’m waiting for😂
Outstanding review
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you 😊
why do I need backup recording for audio, when I am backup recording video & audio inside the camera?
Can you please review some lowest wireless microphone which is cheaper than Rode & dji
Like Ulanzi
For the Sony, is the connection magnetic?
How does it compare to the Sony Dual Channel UWP-D27 Kit / K21 Pro?
Fantastic video❤🎉❤
So, any of this can be used with phone or only with cam?
the frequency of one's voice can also play into how one sounds in the mics. your voice sounded best with sony and had pleasing low ends while it sounded most abrasive in the rode mic. i think the best compromise which wasn't discussed is a godox mic which also can fit in the hotshoe of sony cameras, has onboard memory card recording, and a battery life of over 12 hours, can you do a comparison with these mics please?
It's funny how we hear things differently. I highly preferred the sound of the RODE over the Sony. Could be my headphones, or just personal preferences I suppose.
Does one transmitter allow to output one big stereo mic like Azden smx-30 or a big rode to record wirelessly to the receiver on the camera in stereo from this single transmitter?
Where is this location at 00:21? White sand dunes with mountains behind you! I want to go there!
Thank you so much for your detailed videos!! Question, I’ve only experimented with the DJI, i’ve returned it twice because of the static noise i get from the connection from receiver and transmitter. when i use the internal backup recording it’s perfectly fine. no static and its clean. Ive tried adjusting the settings a couple of times and used your specific settings in one of your videos, but still get that noise. I want to stick with the DJI but i cant fix the static
Any recommendations for fixing this?
I already have the DJI, this video sold me on the Sony, simply for ease of use, no faffing with the touch screen or cables!
999K been here since the beginning :) C'mon 1M!
I have the single DJI kit which costs $219. I don't mind not having the charging case since USB-C charging is very fast. The audio is pretty good, although clipping is possible using auto settings.
First of all, I want to congratulate you on your excellent microphone review video. Your insights are always valuable, and I appreciate the effort you put into your content.
I was particularly interested in your thoughts on wireless microphone systems, and I was wondering if you had the opportunity to test the 7RYMS DW30. What are your impressions of this wireless microphone system if you've had a chance to try it out?
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
Nice comparison. I'm also looking at the Picomic 2 as an option as it's so compact.
Which one u decided on
@@highwayoflife3987 I've realised that with the magnet on the outside of clothing, the DJI is actually a smaller for factor visually, but with backup recording so it's my number 1 choice. But the rumours of a version 2 with 32 bit float is also very appealing...
ZVE1 😂 mine does the same thing. Gets to hot to easy in 4k 30. Back on topic…. I have Rode and Love it.
Just picked up the DJI system for $259 refurbished from DJI. Feel like that price can't be beat. The Rode Pro is nice but not in my price range.
They just dropped price, you can get a brand new one for the same price!
Does the W3 power on and be ready to use fast? Or do you have to wait for the wireless system to connect?
yes the W3 is very fast and works almost immediately
Great video! The DJI Mic 2 will be 32 bit.
Nicely done, Jeven. The Sony gives the least for the most, and the sound quality isn't very smooth (sounds like heavy compression is applied). Rode sounds nicest on the voice, but I hate that shiny ugly plastic disc with prominent branding. The 32 bit float is clutch though. DJI is the system I own, and other than a few quibbles, it's worked very well, especially with the Shure MV-L lav. As for power issues with the DJI, you can use a USB-C power pack to keep the receiver charged for super-long shoots if you're swapping transmitters long enough to keep them charged. I'm going to bet that DJI will be releasing a v2 of their mic addressing the 32 bit float and locking connector issues, as well as the craptastic cold shoe mount they currently use. Speaking of mounting, another dig against the Sony is that I wouldn't be able to use it with the FX3 or FX30 if I'm also using the top handle for audio (at least not powered by the camera). Sony loves screwing with it's consumers, and it seems like they don't test-run their products through working professionals before releasing them.
Please advice on shorts, i miss your advices from good old days. God bless you a lot 🇺🇲😎
I bought the DJI and loved them but the Rode offers more! I am wondering if you think dji will release an update? I am SO confident that if dji offered a 32 bit float version, I would prefer the usability of the DJI (no necessary apps, smaller tx, slimmer case, etc.) If I buy the rode and then DJI releases an update...I'll be so pissed. Lol would love your thoughts.
I think the 32 bit recording is hardware thing and not software.
DJI is releasing an updated Mic
The Rohde & Sony sound too artificial to me. Dji sounds more home body. I just bought for $279. Waiting to try
@@ronarmour8909 I'll buy immediately lol
I sold my 3 DJIs and bought 2 Rodes. The locking mechanism on the mics, and the 32 bit float recording are enough to justify letting go of the smaller form factor and the better user interface. I had a couple of shoots where the mic slightly pulled out of the DJI transmitter so from time to time, the sound would just have these hard scratch noises that could not be cleaned up. (these were both in the camera audio and the internal recording, so no way to fix it) And I've also had projects where the sound clipped on the DJI. With the Rode, I have not experienced either of these issues. It's bulkier, but still way smaller than my Sennheiser G3 systems. Also, the Rode had 40hrs of internal recording to the DJIs 15hrs. This means, when I have a 4 day shoot, I don't even have to delete the internal audio from the Rode systems. Of course I copy them at night, but the internal recording serves as yet another backup.
Only thing that can be improved on the Rode is the timecode implementation, from being able to jam sync to an external device or to multiple rode systems, so how the timecode cannot be exported only via USB while L/R 1/8" jack output Trans1 and Trans2. Other than that, perhaps making them slightly smaller and getting rid of that horrible glossy finish which doesn't allow you to stick anything to it and it reflects light. And these things could be perfect.
My respects!
Sony needs to add a Mi shoe on top of the FX3 XLR handle. And well; the lack of back up internal recording is a deal breaker
Will the RODE take a non-locking lavalier? My lav has no threads and isn't compatible with come threaded lavalier inputs.
Yes
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
I bought the Sony and I was telling myself “I don’t think I will record 150 meters away from my camera so why I do need backup audio? However, I’m still thinking should I change it with the DJI and Rode because my Sony doesn’t have backup audio?
Can’t wait for the DJI MIC 2 (V2 version with 32 bit audio).
I bought the DJI at a discount and is amazing. Very versatile. Very useful system, but pricey at full price.
How did you get discount ? 😊
Do we know the new DJI mic 2?❤❤❤
I really like DJI stuff, but listening without looking and then going back...
Sony sounds a little tinny and (s-sounds are popping)-
DJI was a little hollow.
Rode sounds excellent almost like a studio mic. I'm blown away.
The DJI mics and receiver can be powered by external power. So you can still use the camera as a power source. I'm pretty sure Rodes system is the same.
I think I’m gonna buy the Sony since I use fx30 as my main camera it does have multi function so it make sense to not use any coiled cables with 3.5mm jack
Any one know of any 3 person Mics ???
