    Rapid Recovery from Health Anxiety: A Step-by-Step Guide to Stop Worrying and Reclaim Your Life
    www.paigepradko.com/healthanx...
    Health Anxiety like other anxiety disorders and OCD can come and go throughout your life. It seems to be sparked during times of high stress or major changes in your life.
    Reducing your health anxiety symptoms, making progress and maintaining your gains are more likely if you are able to make it part of your daily routine and overall lifestyle.
    Since health anxiety is maintained and fed by avoidance and safety behaviors, you will have to commit to not falling back into the habits of your old behaviors. Your lifestyle choices will need to include stretching and challenging your boundaries of where you go and what you do, and not allow yourself to shrink back to old avoidance and safety behaviors. Your confidence is built over time and experience, yet it can crumble if you are not continuing to challenge yourself.
    Other habits like exercise, meditation, yoga, diaphragmatic breathing, and good nutrition are all part of your health lifestyle too, but are not to be practiced in RESPONSE to your anxiety. They are to be practiced at a regular schedule whether you have anxiety or not. You do not want your brain interpreting anxious feelings as “bad” or “dangerous”, as those messages to the brain will only heighten the fight or flight response.
    Instead, you want to practice accepting and allowing anxiety to come and go at will, without reactions or concern. This approach will calm the brain and body, lowering your body vigilance.
    The most critical aspect and most important tip to overcoming any anxiety disorder including Health Anxiety is your ability and willingness to embrace anxious feelings and sensations and become less fearful of them.
    If you need help recovering from health anxiety, I will walk you through Step-by-Step what to do to have more peace of mind and get back to feeling like your old-self again. You may register for my online course here:

    Oh wow, yes, You were absolutely correct I love this video and can relate to it 100% - this, exactly this is what helped me the most - only ... when I struggled I had to come to this understanding via multiple and scattered sources (most of it Your videos), with a therapist, etc., but now it's all perfectly laid out in a single 3-part video series.
    I'm really happy and will recommend this series to anyone I know suffering from health anxiety. I would also HIGHLY recommend 2 of Your videos called "5 action steps for health anxiety part 2" and "Stop intrusive thoughts: pure O OCD" - most specifically the "I AM" method - they were 2 of my main source of recovery back in the days.
    So yes, to anyone that also suffers from health anxiety: Acceptance, true acceptance (of not 100% overcoming anxiety as well!) is the best way, at least for me, to manage, what was at one point, very crippling and serious health anxiety. It might happen again anytime - while washing hair and feeling irregular bump on the skull (that's actually just normal skull shape) or having some stomach pains ... whatever's the trigger ... just break the cycle - at any point is good before you resort to protective behaviours (but even if you don't, stay kind, it is FINE, you'll break it next time! ^^ no pressure ^^ ) -> Identify the feeling, with time it'll get easier ->Accept it, DO NOT resist -> and try to stay in the moment (I AM ^^) ... continue washing the hair, go outside ... or ... or just sit ... if it's too much to continue, you can sit and say out loud, "oh hello anxiety, you're back ... and that is fine, I'll sit here with you until you're no longer afraid (you can also visualise yourself as a small child as a physical representation of anxiety which needs your compassion and not forbiddance or fear, as a child would need - at least I did it like that and it seemed to helped when it got really bad).
    If you have the opportunity and finances I think a licenced therapist is the most efficient and helpful way to manage health anxiety, but of course, for people that potentially cannot afford it and the country itself does not have a good healthcare system - I truly believe Paige Pradko's video offer wonderful insight in how to manage this - speaking as someone who also had (and still has, but managed much better) many difficulties in finding a way to live with it. ^^

    It’s so frustrating when a new symptom comes along, I’ve been through multiple. Each as scary as the last. And for the most part they are constant! I’ve just done a year of headaches, I gave in to the fact that I cannot be certain about my health and the headaches disappeared, only for my body to start tingling and becoming numb in scary places (tingling and numbness is a new one for me) so now I’m back in the anxiety hole. My rational brain is telling me this is my anxiety disorder I quite clearly have… my anxious brain tells me Something is terribly wrong. I get pulled in every time, I would love to break this cycle

    "Those things (healthy practices) cannot be practiced in RESPONSE to your symptoms."
    Soooooo vital and easy to forget, as the day to day grind of the battle goes on. It's a roller coaster unless we take control and commit to those practices as a routine. A lesson I have to keep learning, apparently. 🤦‍♂️

    It’s a little silly, but I believe mine started in maybe grade 3 or 4, when a girl in my class threw up on her desk. I didn’t even see it, but the idea that you could get sick in class freaked me out. What would I do if I felt sick? What if I was too socially anxious to get up to leave if I felt sick? Would I know it was coming? What if everyone saw, and I was the embarrassed? It was just a little seed of worry but it’s since grown into full blown health anxiety. Avoiding sick friends and family (in an inappropriately disproportionate way), cleaning too much, locking myself away in my room over simple colds. Panicking over stomach bugs. Avoiding foods, places, then anything fragrant like lotions or sprays or even trees outside made me freak out at getting a “bad reaction” (I do not have allergies… but yet I still worry).
    I appreciate the video series, and have become a subscriber! :) This feels somewhat of a niche form of anxiety (even though I know thousands of people suffer from it, it’s not as common to talk about) so I’m glad it’s being talked about like this. Thanks!

      Hi Di. I understand. As much as we wish we could protect those that we love, especially children, we simply cannot protect them in every way including protecting them from illness. And being overprotective can cause unnecessary fear and anxiety in you and in them. Somehow we have to find a way to tolerate the uncertainty in health and protection for not only ourselves but our loved ones. Do your best to not engage with those worries as rumination will only cause further suffering. 😢❤️

    Currently struggling with this right now. Badly. Started in late July 2022 when my unborn son had skipped heartbeat and my wife and I had a specialist ultrasound. Doctor said everything was okay. But now I'm fixated on my health. My body breaks out into rashes and twitches all over my body in my Arms legs. Back. Hands. Fingers. Toes. Had this twitching struggle off and on for 6 years since my mom died unexpectedly from a heart issue. Back in 2016 I was sure that I was having a serious neurological disorder or an autoimmune disorder. My brain was convinced I was a gonner. Doctor said no. But I wasn't convinced. And saw more doctors who told me the same thing.
    My mind is currently back in that state of being. My wife and My father think it's all mental and are worried about me and looking to get me help. My wife found your videos and showed it to me. They have helped. God bless you for these videos.

In middle school I would throw up in the morning if I ate cause I was really anxious .Now I have social anxiety as adult. I have ibs that I can’t control.the red tomato now has cause me to have a tremor in my smile where I can’t even smile in picture if they told me two cause I can’t control it . Or when I’m just out of my comfort zone . I’m starting to develop sweats an shaking now as I notice when i get put in the spot . Is there any advice would you recommend or one of your videos ? I just found your channel

      Hi Daniel.
      I understand what you are experiencing because I also have social anxiety. I do still encounter times when I might develop shaking/trembling when I am really put on the spot, but I no longer let it stop me from doing the things I want to do. My health anxiety is triggered by 23 years of chronic illness -fibromylagia, endometriosis, undiagnosed neurological disease like MS (optic nerve damage etc triggered by stress, pharma, surgery, and now the vaccine. Now I'm having GERD with lung irritation and aspirating food into my lungs and total insomnia from the anxiety. So much trauma from so many years of chronic and disabling illness despite all my lifestyle efforts with food, exercise, meditation , energy work etc ec etc What do you do if symptoms are disabling and dangerous/don't feel safe in body?

    I can’t tell the difference between my delusions (about being sick) and reality. Even when doctors tell me I’m fine.

    • @PaigePradkoTherapy
      @PaigePradkoTherapy  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. I am so glad you stated that. This is what most everyone with health anxiety experiences. In your brain’s attempt to keep you safe, every symptom becomes a health crisis. This has to all be sorted out. What is a legitimate health issue that needs to be monitored and what is caused from your anxiety response. Since your doctors tell you that you are fine….the next step is not responding to your anxiety.

    My health anxiety was triggered by an ER visit and a diagnosis. How do you break the cycle when you actually have a condition?

    • @PaigePradkoTherapy
      @PaigePradkoTherapy  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi Suzette. People with Health Anxiety can have an actual real medical condition and diagnosis or not. The problem is the obsessive worry, safety behaviors, compulsions and reassurance seeking. Those things cause much more suffering than the actual condition. You break the cycle by practicing ERP. If you are interested in more help, I am offering a course on Health Anxiety that addresses what to do if you do have an actual medical condition and diagnosis and Health Anxiety.
