Yep, a very beautiful pen. I bought one myself last year but I chose the Positano Blue finish which resembles marble. I already had a lot of pens with some chatoyancy so I wanted something different. The swirls of white and different blues are gorgeous! The pen shape borrows a lot from the Art Deco period which I like very much. I have a version whith a Bock nib (they switched to JoWo nibs some months ago) and it writes absolutely perfect. Some reviewers complain about the Leonardo nibs (Bock and JoWo). I guess I was just lucky at the Italian Roulette (that's how Stephen Brown calls it). At first I saw the Moonman M800 and grabbed that immediately and then I found out about the Leonardo Momento Zero which I also had to buy. The Moonman M800 is a simplified inexpensive version of the LMZ (no blindcap, less decoration and some nice semi-transparent acrylics instead of that stunning Leonardo material). If you replace the Moonman nib with a Bock 250 (or if you directly buy the Bock version) you get a nice solid writer too but with regard to its appearance it's just a shadow of the original. BTW the pen designer at Leonardo worked at Delta before so this might explain the re-appearance of that nice wheel-clip.
This was my first Leonardo as well; I purchased mine last July, with a fine nib, the only size available at the time. Just today a broad nib arrived in the mail and I like it even more. Beautiful pens.
Thanks for a nice review. The Momento Zero pens are wonderful and a fitting "descendant" of the Delta pens- (in fact made by the same family team in Naples in both cases). Having 3 of them, my only caveat is that the nibs can be rather dry. I experimented with F, M, Stub 1.1 and Broad nibs- buying spare nibs is cheap and swapping them just a matter of untwisting the existing nib unit and fitting in a new one (in the same way as Pelikans). In the end, I've found that broad nibs provide a good line, quite wet in ink flow, but not too large a line on the page, so have fitted broad nibs in each of my 3 Momento Zero pens. Others may have different experiences and tastes. What is also great is Leonardo Officina's colour schemes: I have the Blue Abyss, the Hawaii and Pietra Marina and could buy a few more gorgeous examples, but after 3 pens sanity and thrift must prevail...
Seems like the descendants of Delta and OMAS haven't given up. Delta to Leonardo, and there is one other Italian pen company that escapes me, and OMAS to Scribo. I have the Blue Hawaii in a broad nib, and you're right, it writes very wet, smooth, and a joy to write with. I keep the Pietra Marine strictly for eye candy. :) If I can get my hands on the Pelikan M800 Stone Garden, that would be a user pen.
@@covfefe8971 The other Italian makers I can think of is Aurora. They make great pens, especially their Optima range and are an impressively long-lived pen company, celebrating their 100th anniversary in 2019! I have Pelikan Stone Garden and, like the Pietra Marina, it is a gorgeous pen and (IMHO) a more subtle design than the Pietra Marina and, being an 18 carat piston filler, a superlative pen. I had a M800 broad nib turned into an medium italic by a nibsmith- quite wonderful to use! There a couple of Stone Gardens on offer on Ebay... Highly recommended.
@@freespirit995 No there's another Italian pen maker with Delta people. Nettuno?? they're from Naples as well, and have some Delta trademarks. Yes Aurora's are good. I have a couple Centos. In fact, I just inked up the Hastil Cento about 30 minutes ago. I wish Leonardo made the Pietra Marine in a Grande, but I might buy a 14k nib for it. Oooh, let me check Ebay. Thanks, Ebay never crosses my mind. Yes, I think that the blue cap and end final does tone it down compared to the Pietra Marine. I find the contrast of blue and red work well together.
@@covfefe8971 Hope you find your Pelikan Stone Garden. I've just inked mine up with Black Cherry, an ink I bought on a business trip to Washington DC at Fahrney's pen store. Very nice match to the body of the pen. One thing I love about these pen videos is "meeting" other pen enthusiasts and swapping impressions about pens. Enjoy your Ebay shopping!
Nice review! The pronunciation is more like Lay-oh-nar-do Oh-fee-cheen-ah Ee-Tah-lee-ah-na Mo-ment-o Zay-ro. Not trying to be "that guy", but I live down the street from Casa della Stilografica in Firenze, and heard them say it. I'm about to go buy mine. :)
Beautiful colours but putting an inscription on the barrel ruins it for me. The screw-blind cap wasn’t necessary because it prevents the user from seeing if you are getting a full fill. A shorter converter stem would probably allow a longer ink window and increase the amount of ink storage. With the elimination of the blind cap they wouldn’t require a screw-in converter. All this extra tooling or machining is added to the cost of the pen. Put the savings into a gold nib.
Oh my wow. That pen is gorgeous. As always I love the details in your reviews. Same on the cap alignment and good to know on the broader side of medium which is what I like. Looking forward to the next reviews. Thanks.
I am so happy I splurged on this beautiful pen fornChristmas, I choose the gold trimmings and they look very nice. I am pleased with all my Leonardos except for the stub nib that often refuse to write, but all the smaller nibs have just been perfect! And they are all so beautiful!
I have been very pleased with all my Leonardo fountain pens. This looks like a good one to add to my collection since you have my primary manipulation 4. 😁
almost every Leonardo Officina pen causes me sensory overload. There are very few that I wish not to purchase. Having the Blue Hawaii, and Pietra Marina, I could just stare at them all day.
This pen is beautiful to look at very comfortable to write with and writes really well. All that you want and expect from a fountain pen.
I got my first Leonardo a couple of days ago. I must say I'm quite impressed! (Mine is a MZ Grande "Girasole")

I just ordered this exact pen with a fine nib from Wonder Pens in Toronto. Looking forward to sharing your excitement. Greetings from Halifax

I just bought my first MZ online. It's the green blue one with an F nib. I'm excited.

You pronounced Leonardo Oficina Italiana correctly. I have a few Leonardo Momemto pens to include the Momento Zero but not the Furore. Great review!
A beautiful pen, thanks for sharing. Should I ever get to a one pen a year "habit," I like the way
Leonardo prices for what they're offering.
Gorgeous pen.. those Italians know design. Wowzer.
It is really nice, I have it and the Sorrento, both are beautiful!

Great writing pens - thanks for the review
Tired but happy. And rightly so - that looks like a great pen.
BEAUTIFUL!😍
I love my Momento Zero.
Gorgeous! 😍😍😍
First viewer!
M nib?
Medium nib, yes
