Like us on Facebook @ / 2redline Honda says this vehicle is "something new to crave" were not so sure about that, but the CR-V sure fits on the short list for many buyers looking for room to haul their families while still attaining good fuel efficiency. Aside from the modest power, the driving position, good value, excellent reliability, and strong resale value will have loyal buyers coming back for years.

This video is ten years old now, but everything said still remains true. I recently bought a 2010 CR-V from the original owner and so far, it's a wonderful old car that runs and looks great. The fact that I still see so many 3rd generation CR-Vs on the road in 2023, is testament to how good the design was.
"CR-V stands for Comfortable Runabout Vehicle". Actually, CR-V stands for Crazy Resale Value ;)
InstaBlaster...
Considering they’re crazy cheap and are all going for 6-8k I’d say no lol
No joke. I just got my grandmothers 2011 CR-V lx 4WD valued at $19k.. it is absolutely mint and only has 17k miles on it.
I lost my CRV of 13 years. Yes, I do crave it. I miss it after it was totaled. It's a great car.
LOVE this vehicle!!! I'm a huge fan of the 3rd generation (2007 - 2011) model; I think they're more attractive than all the CR-Vs out there. I can't wait to pick-up mine (Borrego Beige Metallic)!!!
All about the Honda that the guy didn't say
1: 180HP
2: map that u can play
3: 6 batterie cable front/back
4: they have blue tooth to call
5: if you go inside and look at the top of the roof, two sun roofs
And 6 my dad has that
very true, the 2012 looks ugly
I have 2010 model and i love it very much
totally agree
Definitely more attractive than the latest versions. Smooth curves and amazing handling.
Good review, I have a 2012 CR-V which as you probably know was the first year of the 4th generation. I have to say, I like it much better than I thought I would. I bought it used in November 2018 with 94k miles on it and I already have almost 125k miles on it. It's been a great car. The dealer I bought it from also had a 2010 in this exact blue color so I test drove it. I liked mine a lot better and thought there was a noticeable difference in power. The 2010 felt kind of slow but mine actually has great low end pep for around town driving. Yeah it's slow on the highway but I will say the engine is buttery smooth and very quiet, definitely the nicest 4 cylinder I've ever driven. My grandfather also has a 2010 and he even asked me if they improved the power for my gen haha. Mine is an EX-L so it's got leather and is nicely loaded.
I think you gave this a very fair review. It isn't the nicest vehicle inside but it's simple, practical, and reasonably comfortable. Most importantly, it's so easy to drive for anybody and I think that goes a long way if you're shopping for a vehicle in this class. That combined with Honda reliability. Now I will say to anyone looking at a CR-V that the 4th gen would be a worthy upgrade over the 3rd gen. Nothing wrong with this gen, they're just not as nice overall IMO. Plus a 4th gen would be newer and more likely to have fewer miles and be in nicer shape.
Yes, we plan on doing a 2013 CR-V sometime this month.
you guys make the best reviews on youtube
I think we are gonna buy this car next week.I love this car.
Such a good review! thanks for the info!
Agreed 100%. what makes the cr-v a cr-v is its ruggedness with modern city refinements throughout. LOADS of owners on forums use these in snow, towing, offroading, hell even as military CUV'S for transport actually. not to mention in urban city areas potholes will really bend a rim if the tire is thin enough.
Love the look of these CRV'S
i really like this gen of CR-V. my mom had an 08. while underpowered we really really like the overall package of it.
I have a 2012 and love it so much. ❤
To this day, 11 years after this video was posted, the 2010 Honda CR-V is still the greatest automobile ever made.
just got that same color honda crv yesterday n I love it!!!!!
How’s it been?
Honda's legendary 2.4L K-series 4 cylinder is one of the best 4 cylinders ever made. I've always loved its sound, its smoothness, and just the reliability that is has.
I still love the 2nd gen CR-V my dad has, the tire in the back is pretty appealing
Great review!👍
great review. like!
Oh dear God, that redline revving from cold start *cringe*
you have no way to know if the engine was already ran and warmed up
That's a really good and concise review. I was worried you were going to get a speeding ticket during the test drive!
Honda engines are great because they lack the torque of other engines so you can floor it a bit harder and still be below the speed limit ☺️☺️
Great Review Of 2010 Honda CR-V. 😀
Nice video, merci.
It is something new to crave judging by its sales. we wanted our 2006 and its simple you want to pass someone you put your foot in it.my mom likes the way it sounds because she drove around in a CRX 5 speed manual for 10 years.we have 2 of this gen CR-V in my family and one 2nd gen in our driveway.its marketed as a car that will get you where you need to be no matter WHAT condition.and carry your stuff. change rim size were affecting pothole bending/light offroading/tow loads. which is important
Call me crazy, but I love CR-V's. All of them, every year.
Me to! I had one but my mom got rid of this car!
Great review!
For the current generation, I think they need to bring back the 240-hp J30 V6 as an option on the EX and EX-L. i also think they need a CR-V Touring with LaneWatch, push-buttion start, power tailgate, memory drivers seat, and maybe some other premium features.
The 2004-2007 Saturn Vue V6 was kinda what you wanted. It had a Honda j35 and Honda 5 speed auto. That's about the only thing shared though.
"realtime 4wd which is technically awd" thank you for being competent
Does the 4wd differ from the AWD?
@@jzdst773 there is only real time awd
I would love to own one of these, can't wait to afford to be able to get a CRV. Hopefully soon, because my aging 1998 Civic DX with 207,000 miles isn't gonna last forever. Well it might, it's still a Honda after all.
They're so easy to steal... I had a 1997 Civic LX once. Third time was the charm.
I like how when Toyota started the segment both toyota and Honda had the side hinged doors. Then years later they switched to the top hinged doors like the traditional SUV.
My neighbors drive this car. It's very nice to cruise in. Very comfortable. Rode in it once on the way to Mammoth to go snowboarding a couple years ago.
Are they still your neighbours?
This will be my first car next week!!!!
Kavv how did it go??
Another good example is my friend's 96 BMW 328i. 235k on it and minimal repairs in the time he has had it and he does have the service records from the previous 2 owners. Overall it was only marginally more expensive to maintain than a G35 would cost.
My 3rd generation CR-V is from Japan right hand drive I imported this CR-V in Canada from Japan it's fully loaded with navigation, side beading, fog lights, nice body lips, this 3rd generation CR-V looks much better.
Wow that engine sounds good
I have a 2010 CRV in gray! I absolutely love it, especially how fun to drive it is for it’s size, it’s power, and how much space it has! The only two things I don’t like, are that it is surprisingly an absolute pig on gas(only 18 miles per gallon) and it has a SERIOUS blind spot.
I regularly redline my 2010 crv and still get 21mpg
I get 20+ in mine in the city .
You might need a tuneup if it’s burning that much gas
One routine maintenance item on the crv k2 engine is the valve adjustment that is required. Not many owners have it done. Maybe this is the reason your mpg's are like a pig.
We used to have a 2004 Odyssey and the transmission failed at 108,000 miles, so I am very aware of the transmission problems :p
Early 2000 Honda products were plagued with transmission problems, but Honda/Acura has mostly rectified those issues. Yes, I'm well aware that some people have had issues with transmissions since then, but it's a VERY small amount. I am not afraid to admit Honda has issues, no car manufacture is perfect. Honda's are generally reliable cars and you know it.
My grandma has a crv, black with leather. Its pretty nice and simple. Interior looks great although the hard touch is semi disappointing. Great mpg. Good upgrade from her old tahoe getting 12mpg.
The steel wheels on the LX are 17 inch as well
Look at me i want one in 2022 i think it age really well that design
as an owner of two honda 5AT transmisisons, they have been more reliable then anything german ever could be. i am sorry but its damn true and everyone knows it. the vibration ECU thing was only in V6 engines due to gearing for the LOWEST RPM the car can run in and downshifts held it creating a vibration. owned an 03 odyssey for 175,000 miles, HAVE a 12 pilot with 11K AND an 06 cr-v SE with 75K miles and NEITHER of them needed a single repair.
Cool all CRVs
You see plenty of these all over. Practically one of the best CRV s because of the cargo shelf.
Cool video …
Well an Infiniti G37 or Acura TL SH AWD isn't really cheap to maintain either. They have complicated suspension parts (multi link) and brakes/tires are eaten up quite often. They will be cheaper overall and the visits to the shop will be less than their German rivals but I have a few German cars in the family and they've been relatively problem free. Uncle's 2005 E320 Benz with 175k on it has been great, only wear and tear parts were changed out.
Actually the trans problems still continue. The TLs are having a TC issue that causes a vibration felt through the pedal and the ECU was reprogrammed in order to alleviate that problem but for most owners the problems still continue. IMHO Japanese cars nowadays aren't as reliable as people claim and German cars aren't as unreliable as people claim. In general they're still reliable but overall the Japanese companies are relying on customer loyalism vs. actual quality.
Well I've driven a Lexus ES350 and one thing it lacked was that solid and stable feeling. It just didn't have that heavy weighted feeling a German car provides when going down the road. Doors didn't "thunk" and it felt more upscale Toyota rather than something of distinction and on it's own. Engine/Trans was silky smooth so I can't fault that but the "feel" just wasn't there. It's ever present in the Benz though.
Love mine
hello... have you done the 2013 yet? or are you still planning a 2013 CR-V review?... i already bought a 2013 EX...lol..i still would like to see your review on that or my car.... luv my 2013 CR-V... even though most reviewers mention that this car isn't eye candy. an the transmission an engine are outdated the car does what Honda designed it to do... performs... i really enjoy your reviews... thank you...
I still prefer the asian Honda CR-V compared to the US one. My family has one here in the Philippines and it's a great car! :)
Watch his review of the 2010 RAV4 Limited.
I'll take the RAV4 with it's V6, 5sp auto, 4wd button and still 26 mpg highway.
I think the RAV has better looks and the rear side window doesn't have that ugly and visibility reducing slop.
The back side door could be annoying though.
3500 towing with tow package so, it's perfect for us.
Cheers
The German ZF 6 speed auto is a reliable and silky smooth shifting transmission. The same can't be said for a Honda/Acura AT, heck Toyota uses a smoother transmission so it's possible for a transmission that's seamless running through the gears. I won't doubt that all around the Japanese brands are still reliable but the older examples were better which sort of makes me wonder what the future models will be like.
I just brought one
This vtec engine sounds great. I recently replaced my 2011 cr-v lx with a 2018 Accord 2.0T Sport MT, and while I love my Accord I still think about that 2.4...
What is the milage per ltr
@@skadhesiveproducts7337 about 8kmpl city
10 highway
The steering wheel reminds me of a Mazda 6... I like this crv
@ 2theRedline: Thanks for your in depth review. I love this car. How can I get one at an affordable cost. I stay in Africa.
best of luck man. hope you get your cr-v
Have you done a video on the Chevrolet equinox?
Lol luck may be a factor but that car is a wonderful driving experience and the fact that it was quite reliable makes the whole thing even sweeter. I'm not a fan of how the Honda/Acura 5AT shifts, they're quick shifting but you feel the transitions between gears which is a bit annoying in city driving.
Nice
It's for ppl who don't like push buttons start and cvts but want nav like my grandma she might get one ivhope
Am planning to buy one of these CR-V 2010 on Dealshaker with Onecoin as payment.. December 2021..
whats the diffrence in the engine of the 166hp and the 180hp
my crv has 166 but i will 180...?
how can i make this?
thanks
Nice honda Crv
I completely AGREE with you. I am no honda loyalist, and realize no car is perfect, some are more prone to problems than others.
This individual believes German cars are reliable is simply not true. My aunt bought a used 2001 MB SLK and that thing has given her costly problems. But she wanted the car since she hasnt treated herself to a nice sports car and since she was getting a good deal from her friend, she will deal with it.
I told her why deal with the pain of sending it in all the time
Used to have this car but it got totaled in February 2020
It would be nice if Honda would finally put an engine with a bit more power into the CRV.
can you guys also do the 2014 mazda 6
my aunt has had two early 2000's jettas. in the early 2000's german transmisisons were not reliable either. im not arguing with you japan has the relibility edge and still has. i have one 2009 toyota with 111K miles and two newer hondas both with zero problems. you cant knock a brand like honda for reliability its just not happening. they won countless awards including one this year for the best mainstream brand for resale and longevity behind them,
please do a 4th gen(2003-2009) Toyota 4Runner!!
IMO, he got lucky. Look, the point is, Japanese cars have a reputation for being reliable and less costly to maintain. Older MB's and BMW's were pretty solid. They started to decline in the early 2000's.
I have an uncle with a 2009 FX and the tires and brakes are like new at 31,000 miles. My cousin has a 2004 TL with 50,000 miles and it still runs, looks, and drives like it's new. He get's it maintained at a Honda dealer :p
Try to find a Saturn Ion plz I have driven one I want to know what you think of the ride
The 4th generation should be getting Honda's new DI motor & CVT within the next year or two.
Would you try to work in the white nissan murano I would like to know your opinion on it thinking about buying one please. Thanks
When are we going to see the 2013 Avalon and Lexus GS?
Do you know if you will do a 2012 CR-V soon?
@blacuraRL I love me '04 Pathfinder. The new ones can't beat mine
what about sound system...
My parents have this (same trim and color), and I drive it time to time. Two things I really liked! First, if your windshield wipers are on and you put it into reverse.. the back wiper turns on to give you a clear view behind you. Second, the cargo cover in the back is hard. It can hold about 20 pounds on top of it. But you can remove it from the "shelf" and it can be placed flat on the floor of the trunk space. Overall a great looking vehicle, and it's aged very well.
The USB port is on the middle console. My mom has a 2008.
agreed
agreed. im pretty tired of hearing that argument. japan will ALWAYS have the reliability edge going for it. look at ford and their tech and BMW and their high price tags for the tech and then look how long the tech even lasts compared to honda/acuras nav system, toyotas link system and hybrid powertrains and nissans CVT's. they do the best real world fuel economy numbers and resale as well. and that's why i prefer them
3:00 nostalgic
I always wonder why do people rev the engine like that during a video is that?
should i get the 13 crv or 13 cx5???
S2000 ap2 should be next to be reviewed
Great reviews. How do you compare 2010 model to 2009 model with respect to 180hp as against 166hp?
Still slow. Doesn’t feel like it has 180.
my parents bought the redesigned 2012 model in July and we just love it. Sleek styling, quieter than this model and it looks gorgeous in burgundy :D
Can I request a 2003- 2008 Honda Pilot? Nobody does those.
Man, I'd put rdx 2.3 turbo engine in there!!!
what's the gas mileage on that beati
Yeah rev that cold engine man...
I think it's compact recreational vehicle
Nice review that for god's sake keep your hands on the steering wheel at least one of them 🤭
Acura's, Lexus's and Infiniti's are not known for electrical problems, something BMW's, Audi's and Mercedes are. I could go on, we can go on, but it sames as though you think the added refinement a German car gives (Though Japanese cars have caught up/surpassed) justifies the crappy reliability. Am I wrong?
I realize no car manufacture is perfect, and all manufactures have improved reliability, but until I see most German cars being able to do 100K easily with minimal issues, I'll avoid them.
CRV stands for Compact Recreational Vehicle..
What year TLs are you referring too? And German cars are still unreliable just from what my family have encountered over their many German cars they had
They have improved with their current generations but older models still suffer costly repairs for small parts failing. My cousins 04 330i has many knocking sounds, squeaks, electrical problems with gauge cluster and faulty sensors, she bought it new.
Same goes for MB c320 that my cousins GF has, only reason for keeping it is her dealership
КЛАССНАЯ МАШИНА🤑😎👮❤
Hello I was wondering if anyone could answer my question I'm 4'10 1/2 and 110 pounds does any other short person drive this or have problem driving it
Kind of late, my mom drives it and she’s 5’0. She has no problems.
compact recreational vehicle, just a small detail
show us how much seat can fold
Didn't this start off as Honda Crave? Then they dropped some letters?
