While we may not have new episodes of Futurama to rely on any more, you better believe we will never stop rewatching our old favourite show. The adventures of the Planet Express crew will never get old, and we can’t imagine a world or a universe in which we’d ever get tired of them. As smart and touching as it was hilarious, Futurama really was one of a kind. And these crazy behind the scenes facts make us love it even more! Like the fact that Billy West voiced not only Fry but pretty much every other beloved cartoon character, or that Farnsworth was named after the guy who invented the TV! How about how all the episodes aired out of order, or how they once got fined for including too many characters in one shot? There’s a real mathematical equation behind the episode The Prisoner of Brenda, Fry is wearing the same outfit as James Dean, Bender can do almost anything AND is named after John Bender from The Breakfast Club. Philip K Fry is named after the amazing voice actor Phil Hartman, the writers have created two alien languages, the binary code seen throughout the show is actually telling us something, there are history jokes everywhere, famous sci-fi sound effects, a whole new direction for Hermes, and a bunch of owls that have taken over New New York! All this and more make up 25 amazing things we never knew about Futurama.

Dave Smith The future setting gave it a timeless feel, the politics and technology didn’t need to match when the episodes were written. The episodes written to cash in on a superficial trend wound up dating more than the first four seasons. Lolcats, the 2012 prophecy, Susan Boyle, the birther movement, all those episodes and the jokes around them show their age much more.

@@AzguardMike 2D animation though in particular (that isn't heavily computer-assisted) requires an incredible amount of work and takes a very long time. I can assure you animators aren't being lazy if they say you're making their job harder, though I wonder why such a short scene (time-wise) resulted in so much consternation.

One of the better "facts you didn't know about " I've seen. This was a good one. I really miss that show. I was just as excited about this show's debut as I was for the Legend of Zelda: OoT release a few years before, why for? For no raisin, hahaha!

Greatest ending of all time because it just restarts the series all over again. GENIUS. Futurama can never die

Jurassic Bark was actually going to have the plot be centered around Fry's mother having been preserved in dolomite, but was changed because they felt it was too sad.

I knew most of them, but not all. Thanks for the look back at a great show! I need to go back and revisit those last episodes. I seem to catch only the ones I've seen before on broadcast/cable TV.

I remember the whole alien language thing being real and my roommate at the time deciphering the opening message. He was just as dissappinted by the end as Ralph was in A Christmas Story after deciphering "Drink Ovaltine"

Could have been worse, the child characters could have been in that shot. At the time it was the final instalment of Futurama, so no surprise the creators wanted to do something for the fanbase.

I've seen every episode over a dozen times and I still notice new things on each re-watch. It's unfortunate the network never recognized the potential. I had hoped the baseless cancellation of good shows like Futurama/Firefly would have stopped with Hulu/Netflix, but they're just as bad with the cancel culture.
