We love Futurama, and like too many space travelling sci fi adventure shows (looking at you, Firefly), we will always feel like it never got the respect it really deserved. Bender, Fry, Leela, and the rest of the Planet Express crew will always have a place in our hearts, and as long as we can keep rewatching the old seasons over and over and over again, we won’t be forgetting them any time soon. And neither will their legions of devoted fans, apparently! So much so that every day, fans are creating new and amazing theories about the show in order to explain every possible moment. Some are lighthearted and some are seriously dark, but all might just make you think a little differently about everyone in the year 3000. Like the idea that it was a case of worms that finally made Fry become a better man in order to win Leela. Or how about the theory that The Simpsons and Futurama might share a timeline? There’s one that says that Bender wasn’t a criminal until Fry got a hold of him, and another that believes that Hypnotoad might be a descendant of the toad Bart released in Australia! There are theories that say that Zapp was actually a good leader but was traumatized by battle, and that the Planet Express crew don’t seem to age because of radiation! There are also theories about Herme’s real identity, Kif and Zapp’s relationship, the What If Machine, and the possible involvement of the dreaded Illuminati!

"Whose number one passtime is getting high and chillaxing..." This is Hermes we're talking about. Have you actually watched Futurama?
Chris P : I was thinking that too. The joke of Hermes is that he’s an uptight, bureaucratic, control freak Jamaican.
Tracy Taylor he still loves weed
Yeah I had to stop the video and shake my head
Hermes is ALWAYS portrayed as getting high and loafing around OFF CAMERA. Watch the series again!
"the crew does not age!"
*proceeds to show old hermes and leela*
hmmm
You can't trust screen rant to do research
Also the episode the professor had button that sent them back in time like 10 15 seconds. Fry and leela freeze time when the botton broke and grow old together.
they had to get over 10 minutes for that ad revenue somehow :P
The theory goes that the radiation from the ship counteracts the aging process. Hermes & Leela begin to age because at some point in their lives Planet Express, the business, took off. They hired more employees, a new crew, and subsequently didn't fly in the ship as much anymore. This allowed the normal aging process to take hold. Same when Fly & Leela get stuck in the time rift. Not flying the ship anymore = no more fountain of youth.
If you think about it the professor is what 150-170 so fry looking the same as his 20 year old self would make sense than
Futurama was possibly the best show ever made.
I'd agree with you but then Disenchanted came along.

A man can dream
Bender has always been a criminal... He was trying to rip off the booth with his coin on a sting... Theory denied....
Well maybe he was cheap, but that’s not the same as being a criminal
That was just a gag, and a quarter isn't quiiiite a heist xD What's he even gonna do with the quarter when the suicide booth is done with him??
@@techne360 The point is that the cunt is a thief from the beginning.
@@adamlennon750 Well, he was trying to kill himself because he had learned that he had been used to build suicide booths. What if he wanted to prevent the company or organization that managed the suicide booths from getting his money as a last "Screw You!" to them? Especially if he could make it a two-for-one, since he opted to "pay" for Fry's suicide as well? Stealing two quarters from the company that you want to kill you because they used to you to build the machines that people can use to kill themselves seems less like criminal behavior, and more like pettiness and personal hatred for that company.
Bender was always a criminal, but his programming kept some of that in check prior to the electrocution, which allowed him to do as he pleases. That's just the surface level gag of the electrocution, there's no subtle observation here. After the shock, he immediately flips him from loyal to his programming and unable to bend for destructive purposes to "You make a persuasive argument, Fry."
How could you put hypnotoad in here without his noise

Lololol
Technically, a Bart doll indicates they're NOT from the same reality. It just shows Futurama has a Simpson's TV shows.
Your right there cause lets face it i had a bart doll when i was younger and i swear it was about 1006 or 1997 that we bought it, therefore it just shows that when fry left old new york in the year 1999 they had The Simpsons on airing on there TV just like us.

@@catrowe595 but if they are connected and they're all in the same universe as family guy and American dad then that means that Futurama and American dad are in the same universe

Daddy Cool : True. They show the “toad” swimming across a pool, and he was very green. Toads are more brown and not amphibious.
A few of these theories are disproven in the show itself
Bender not being a criminal until his reset.
In the episode where he gets reset and acts like a penguin, at the end he gets reset again and he is not surrounded by criminals and still is 1.
Zapp madness theory
The theory says he wants to get fired because of what happens with the killbots
And yet in 1 episode he did get fired and was a total mess because of it, it wasnt until getting rehired that he was happy again.
RE: Bender theory.
When he resets post-penguin, he's surrounded by...Planet Express employees.
Planet Express regularly deals in immoral if not illegal activities at the whim of the mad scientist running the company.
Surrounded by criminals.
Pretty much all these "fan theories" are disproven by close attention to the show. The theorists are not very good fans at all.
@@suckypuckle9292 Or just because he gets back all the same memories and programming as before he was a penguin.
Not to mention Bender has been a criminal since the first season! Hell, in the first episode at the end he took Leela's wallet. Don't trust Screen Rant, it seems they've never even watched the show.
@@JymDyer Yeah I've never seen a Futurama fan theory with any substance. Here is SR re-hashing nonsense.
We are waiting for another season
It doesn’t matter how long it takes
I have always loved Futurama and I cant wait for another season.
Why? I liked the ending.
@@GlobalGaming101 why would you like a good show to end while all these bad shows are still on?
Epic Public Freakout Videos that's why it ended if the show continued it would get progressively worser and worser like the Simpsons so yeah I does suck it ended but it had an amazing run and after the 2nd cancelation the show got slightly worser so yeah if it did continue then it would get worser
"If it takes forever, I will wait for you"
Then for the Brannigan theory, when stripped of his rank by the doop he becomes extremely depressed and at the end begs for his old job back; a cool theory but seems implausible nonetheless
I'm surprised they didn't bring up the theory about scruffy being the professor's brother or scruffy being a failed clone of Professor
Or his long lost son he has no clue about.

What
The Simpsons is a T.V show in the Futurama universe, it's been confirmed by the creators. Also, how is that clown a Simpsons reference? It looks nothing like Krusty lol. It's just a clown.
it actually looks just like krusty and is wearing one of the outfits from the drafts of krusty.
@@kissynuggett3727 He looks like Krusty as much as Patchcord Adams from futurama does. So Patchcord Adams is a reference to Krusty and not Patch Adams right?
They cross over you know
i think the characters do age, just incredibly slow due to future technologies/treatments. all the characters on the show don't really seem to age much. the professor is 178 and is relatively functional.
Matt being a time traveler would explain the simpsons predicting the future.
"This thing's a frog, and....that thing's a frog. They must be the same frog! Surely there can't be more than one frog, right?"
ITS A TOAD!!!
Disenchantment castle getting obliterated it looks like that takes place after The Simpson's, but before Futurama.
There IS a Steampunk town with flying machines in the series that's trying to destroy Dreamland. It'd make sense that after destroying Dreamland, Steamland evolves from Steampunk into the Futurama setting
actually, Disenchantment is one of the futures Fry, the Professor and Bender pass through, you can spot them when Lucy uses the glass ball
I think that Hypnotoad was more likely to mutate from the power plant (as there is a 3 eyed fish) than evolve to be that way. Easier solution than what was purposed?
That theory about bender not really being who he truly was or became when we first met him sounds good until you remember that he recalled his coin and laughed in a cheeky way. Which demonstrated to me that was the same bender
these werent really the scary horrifying theories i was expecting.
Yeah, pretty sure the only thing worth watching on this channel are the pitch meetings by Ryan George.
You mention them not aging then show the episode "The Late Philip J. Fry" where Fry, Bender and the Professor are traveling forward in time. The rest of the cast are aging normally despite being surrounded by multiple Planet Express ships.
He also mentions Farnsworth and Mom but both are young in flashbacks.
All that says is that professor Farnsworth didn't provide sufficient enough insulation for the dark matter. When Leela took over the company she must have put in some OSHA regulations that prevented exposure. And nobody said that it froze time for you but that it slowed your aging. And we all know that the professor is 160 years old. For a 160 year old he looks about 90.
@@TheDanm22 I believe the lawyer's response would be that you are "assuming facts not in evidence." The claim was that the cast did not age. The evidence is that they did. If you wish to make the argument that the cast DID age but slower than expected then o.k. But that argument does not support the original claim. This is what in rhetoric we call "moving the goal posts."
that is the dumbest response. what a smug smegma of person you must be irl. @@robertanderson6929
What about the episode where all the cast were made younger...only to return to their rightful age at the end thanks to the fountain of aging. Except Leela states that she might be a few years younger from that experience. Maybe that was everyone and their ages reset back to the beginning of the series.
the first theory is actually confirmed, in The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings when Bender confronts him about why he is learning the holophoner he admits that it's because when he had the worms he managed to get Lela to love him, and he is trying to learn how to make her fall in love with him again.
Zapp was a good captain until the killbots... Having to send wave after wave of men at them was so horrific he became what he is today
If only there were another way to deactivate or otherwise destroy an army of robots without sacrificing/genociding your own soldiers...

Zapp was based on captain kirk. The evidence is everywhere.
More specifically, Zapp was based on Captain Kirk mixed with William Shatner's personality.
You need to watch the videos (theres at least 3 of them) of Donald trump quotes read in the voice of Zap Brannigan.
Wasn’t the episode where it’s Moms birthday show a item labeled as “see through the eyes of a vending unit” and when you look through the eyes it shows possible robbery suspects? So I’m going to assume most, if not all Bending units are criminals.
Also throughout the series we have seen Bender become depressed more than once, to the point of wanting to off himself.

I love Futurama! I have watched it since it first premiered the very first episode on Fox, and continue to watch it to this day on Sci Fi!
I need it on DVD so I don't have to keep watching TV, I have seen every episode at least once, and season 6 was my favorite.
same too, i was 11 in 1999 and it felt so grown up i loved it
the theory about Bender being electrocuted is pretty interesting.
yeh. i've never thought about that.
there's some more evidence to this theory in the episode 'The Birdbot of Ice-Catraz' bender when rebooted goes to like a 'blend in' mode and acts like the penguins around him
No, it’s scruffy as the agent. He “cleans” everything. Snapping pics and such. Could be like the EYEphone or in his mustache. Hermes could get papers or finances, but Scruffy cleans everywhere.
Dust falls all over. He’s rarely seen actually cleaning, even though it’s him for a building. He cleans near inventions, snapping mustache pics and footage. Mom made the EYEphone, surely a government could do that and more.
Speaks softly and usually just is in a scene silently
My kiff zap theory is that kef is actually assigned by the doop to keep an eye on zap
I thought it was because he needed Zapp's permission to leave.
Or he literally can't leave because literally nobody would want his job.
Yeah we should start a petition to get this masterpiece rebooted in 2020 guys there’s no other animated show I’ve dived deeper in and felt an emotional connection to the characters the “final” episode with leela and fry indefinitely spend the day together makes my heart hurt
We're getting another season on Hulu this year!
The age thing doesn't work considering there's episodes that jump to the future and show the futurama team aged/older...people just looking into it too much 😂
Matt Tuffy they have the clip at the end of the Hermes theory
MY ANTI-AGING THEORY
I don't think the planet express ship admits radiation(thats far fetched) but simply the future has life sustaining medicine. Medicine professor Farnsworth takes, mom takes , and Farnsworth's rival wernstrom takes. They are like 2 hundred(maybe more) years old.
I think Farnswoth is 160, or around there, his parents are still alive as well, they had an episode on it, when you pass a certain age (sometime after 120 I think) some group comes to take you somewhere, I haven't seen that episode in a few months so I don't remember everything.
@@EchthelionII your right about that his parents are alive in suspended animation keeping them alive backing this up ( i don't know where people got ship radiation from)
@@stealthboy316 Thin air, their butts, your guess is as good as mine.
Anybody else ever think about how Fry could have totally survived his fall off the vampire state building without breaking the reset remote? Instead of immediately hitting the button after ten seconds Leela just had to wait afew seconds after the mandatory ten were up so that fry was closer to the ground and rinse and repeat until he landed softly.
Why would her hitting it at ANY time change his trajectory? He would still have been falling at the same speed regardless of what time she decided to "pop in" at.
We will make Futurama return. There will be another season.
Don't support tv shows made by ignorant morons.

The theory about being bender rebooting is impossible because in "Hell is other Robots" bender is addicted to electricity and plugs in to the temple of robotolgy sign and did not rebot. He also is electrocted by an electrical disturbance and did not reboot.
The Fry's worms theory is the most beveled of all the theories to me
Ooh, I got one! Through the seasons fry developed a cyclops f e t i s h. Why do I think this? At the pilot, fry hates her eye, but in that episode where Leela get eye surgery he wants her eye back.
Maybe she looks weird having 2 eyes because her eyes aren't the same round shape as everyone else. Maybe he just got used to seeing her with 1 eye.
Maybe he associates that face with the girl he thinks he loves, and doesn't want it to change at all
I don't recall him ever hating her eye, just being startled at seeing her the first time. Which was rather understandable.
Not surprised that Zapp was supposed to be voiced by Hartman. He even sounds like the late actor.
There should be a spinoff with Scruffy the janitor. Who knows what secrets that dude has?
I think that Kiff stays with Zapp because of some debt. We can assume that he was working with Zapp when the killbot incident occurred, and so it is a bit weird that he remains alive. We never encounter anyone other than Zapp who claims to have been there when he won over the killbots, even though it must have been a massive undertaking. There must have been other officers there, even higher up than Kiff, as he would have been lower ranked before the killbot incident as we can assume that being involved in that battle must have lead to a promotion. So why would a low ranking soldier be the only person other than Zapp who we know survived? I think that Zapp spared Kiff, for some reason, and so now Kiff feels indebted to him, and that is why he sticks around even after Zapp nearly kills him on multiple occasions.
“Grenning”?
Groening
“Rhymes with ‘complaining’” he says.
I thought it rhymed with "groaning"
“It’s not an ideal world”
lol we’re not one either
With the theory of general relativity the faster you move to the speed of light the less you age. That could be the reason they don’t age
I haven’t seen it in years but omg to the unforgettable Hypnotoad

All Glory To the Hypnotoad😵😵😵
You do realize that in the VERY FIRST episode, we see him become a criminal.
I don’t know why but the Zapp and Kif are drinking buddies makes me smile.
Not a theory, but a question:
Do you think Rick Sanchez and Hubert Farnsworth would make great college roommates?
1:28 That time that Fry created himself.
If Matt Groening was a time traveller then he basically eradicated his own existence by Interfering with the past changing decisions and choices.
Not if he used a paradox correcting time code!
The crew does get older there was an episode where it’s Hubert’s birthday and gets so old they try to put him in a vr world like his parents and also on the last episode Fry and Lela grow old together
Scruffys work here is done
Scruffy would be the optimal double agent, every time they are sitting around discussing things, there he is just listening in, not often do you seem him actually working but he's always nearby lounging, and think about it, Janitors have access to just about everything because cleaning detail isn't just restricted to 1 or 2 main rooms
I like how there’s an anti aging theory but several episodes show them aging lol
Why this show was canceled but the Simpsons wasnt is beyond me.
Futurama was always better in my opinion. Old Simpsons seasons were of higher quality compared to modern ones, but futurama was consistently good. I'd LOVE to see the show return.
Especially with all of the world events they could make fun of.
OMG yes, but OMG NO! Kif sticks around because he knows that he has to save the day from Zaps incompetence, not because he is Zaps drinking buddy, he only put his arms around him in that drunken scene to show how he would have had to be drunk to act like that.
I always suspected zapp was modeled after the captain from the movie heavy metal. The similarities are too strong to dismiss as a coiencedence.
11:00 Douglas Reynholm is it you?
At least your impression on him is spot on.
ALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!!
There is one problem with Bender not being a criminal until he met Fry. In the pilot, when Bender and Fry are in the suicide booth, Bender pays using a quarter on a string.
Is that a problem, or is it support? Bender's attempting suicide because he can't cope with the moral hell that the girders he bends are used to construct suicide booths. Setting aside the hypocrisy that he's using one himself in that scene, one can declare that Bender is staunchly anti-suicide at that time. Naturally, he would not desire to lend any profit to the enterprise of suicide booths, and so he's committing what is technically a crime for an ostensibly noble reason of moral protest.
I'm gonna watch Futurama on Hulu now
2:18, calling that Krusty the Klown is a pretty hard stretch. That's just a generic clown.
I thought the not ageing thing was because they had cured everything and could fix any injury etc. That's why suicide booths are so common, it's the only actual way to die lol.
Futurama expands the mind!🤯
The theory of the criminal-person post reboot as they were around the hall of thieves gives me pause.
We all saw Bender have penguinmode.exe occur around 🐧 on the ice planet.
The end of that episode was funniest and darkest:
1. Orca whale waiting near iceberg and swallows 99% of 🐧as they slider right into his mouth. Ha! And also sad.
2. Two remaining 🐧 innocently pick up rifles. Ha. Then...then...each realizing they had a point pointed at them you see determination, anger, and just hear cocking as the screen goes to black. Oh my.
People live into their early 200s in Futurama. Their medical enhancements are likely why they age slowly.
Man, so many of these were...ALL GLORY BE TO THE HYPNOTOAD!
Keep on with futurama content we love it!!!!
I like when a story is a dream especially if done in a really good way. There's not really enough stories about dreams. Dreams are highly underrated
omg what’s the song playing in the background?!? i know it from somewhere but idk whereee
Futurama was and still my favourite show
3:16, what's cool is that after the light socket changes Bender's personality, it nicely returns to having an intact bulb

Bart released a bullfrog in Australia, not a toad.
I think scruffy is a clone or immortal because I've seen him die lots of times even when he got his head cut clean off later you see him cleaning the street still with his head hanging from his neck
He's actually a zombie. I think they revealed it in "Law and Oracle."
I've heard a lot of him being a clone
We need more of Futurama! What will we do if there's no more Futurama? Somebody help us!!
Over "a" thousand years. The Simpsons happen between the late 80s and present day. That's not enough time for anything to evolve much.
Does anybody know how you get tv show clips to edit into a video like this one?
05:02 - You used the words "well equipped" to describe Zapp Brannigan. He would be pleased.
Hermes is a double agent? Of course he is. He's the bureaucrat assigned to Planet Express. He reports back to the Central Bureaucracy. If his reports are meant for other eyes, it takes the bureaucracy a very long time to get them to where they are supposed to go.
Best show ever
YES you guys from MISS a HUGE one, Matt Gs new show Disenchantment take place during the time when Fry is frozen, and the castles pop up, you can also see the futurama cast in the future hour glass in disenchantment, great job on every thing elce
A little something from the episode, when Fry is send to a robot nuthouse.
The nurse catches him with a straightjacket, something pretty useless against most, if not all, robots. So the theory is, a lot of people disappear in the robot nuthouse, to be ended by the help they get, intended for a machine, not a human and the robots, unable to recognize a human among them, just correct the error by getting rid of the organic waste and go on.
Bart took a bullfrog to Australia, not a toad. Hypnotoad isn't Bart's bullfrog.
Sorry, but the bit about Zapp originally scheduled to be voiced by Phil Hartman isn’t true.
Billy West has confirmed this, he was always going to do Zapp. Given his involvement with The Simpsons Hartman may have been involved with the early pre-production of the show, but never to the point of being cast as Brannigan.
The bit about naming Fry after him I think is true..
If there was a mole it would more likely to be Scruffy. He just pops in every now and then and everybody says “Who are you?” And he replies “scruffy, the janitor”. What if he wasn’t really a janitor? Being very badly dressed is a perfect disguise. Why would someone dress badly for work?
Ive allways belived Kiff and Zapp were, well atleast good friends outside of work...
Fred Krazé I have a theory that Zapp saved Kiffs life before he was a doof
I got a little fun fact !
The original Leela and team died
Expect for Fry, Bender, and the Professor
A fact often overlooked because it was technically corrected with a paradox.
The Professor built a forward time machine.
They went so far all life ended and started again,
But they never found the backwards machine
The non aging or slow aging theory discussed around 6:45 could work, if you think about it the professor and wormstrom are both well over 150 years old. They also say things like “I was inventing so&so before you all were even 100” insinuating that 100 isnt that old
Oh man that Futurama show has a lot to answer for after all this controversy in each episode and season on the show
Kiff wasn’t a high ranking officer. He was an officer, but low ranking. That would mean he didn’t have much say or choice in where he was put.
RIP Phil Heartmen
The worms inspiring Fry to turn his life around really isn't a theory... it's just exactly what is shown to happen. The episode ends with Fry trying to learn the Holophonor (depicted as an extremely difficult instrument). This comes back in a later episode, so it's not a one-off in any way at all.
Couldn't all of Futurama just be Fry dreaming in his cryotube?
No
the worms also featured in dark souls. they are the primordial serpents
