Facebook reporting sucks. I tried reporting the scams but I only get a dropdown of reasons why. There’s no place for me to explain why they are scams. Frustrating.
If only those ads had a blue check mark…😂
FB doesn't give a crap that you're getting ripped off. They know exactly what's going on with these scams. They will not address it as long as the $$ is flowing in.
Oh, believe me, I understand your frustrations with Facebook. I've been home sick since Thursday evening, and when I'm not sleeping, I'm fighting spam in the groups I moderate... Ugh.
Facebook makes way too much money from those scam ads to do something about it.
@@davidsee3553 regretfully, that's probably got a lot to do with it.
You could use the fan to cool off the branding iron so you don’t burn the table cloth 😂
😂
😂
Use the fan to bliw sawdust off of big surfaces when you don't wanna grab the air nozzle. ;P
🤣
You're demonstration of the corner clamps was even more hilarious then watching the commercial where they were using other clamps... OMG... I have never laughed so hard.
I like how your 'censoring' beeps are so far out of sync! Thanks for falling for these scams, so we don't have to! :D
Dave is a master video creator. These days I can't skip a single video as soon as I see an upload because I know it's going to be awesome in some way.
Really epic censoring beeps, specially the 2nd one like 4s afterwards.
I really appreciate the delayed beeps too! CZcams is so insane with how quickly they'll demonetize a video for someone saying "fuck," which is literally harmless, yet they're totally fine keeping actually dangerous or radicalizing content on the platform making money.
@@evanbarnes9984 agree, such a ludicrously distorted yardstick for censoring content... But do the off-set bleeps manage to bypass the 'surveillance' anyway?
So fuckin beep.
I go to Hong Kong all the time. I have a friend there that studies martial arts. One time she showed me how to fight with a fan. Now you'll be able to defend yourself with your fan.
The worst part about this, is that Facebook doesn't even care, you don't even have a proper way to report scams like this. Absolutely infuriating!
Easy solution: Don't do ANY commerce on FB.
Ultimate solution: eradicate all traces of FB from your life and start the healing.
My solution was, never to join The meth-a-book or wtf ever suckerburg calls it today.
I've ordered from Gearhart a couple times. Solid product. Best of all, they actually respond to customer service questions quickly, and the proof is a nice touch. Long ago when I ordered my first Iron they actually sent a burned proof on a piece of veneer.
Yes! Gearhart is awesome. Nice people too.
I think you should create a very nice sign for a Domino Festool with a place to mount that fan, then hang it on your wall as a reminder to all us "fans" to watch out for Facebook scams! Haha
I bought a table top ice maker once from Facebook ad. 12 weeks later I got a pair of Dollar Tree sunglasses.
I looked into the ueez thing a couple months back. My final red flag was when I realized most of the reviews on the site were posted before the domain was registered... but the fact that I was checking domain reg dates probably should have been the first red flag.
The bleep long after the curse is genius 😂 Also, i know you've been waiting for an excuse to buy that toolbox. You were talking about it on the podcast!
Make this a series! I know it's a waste of money sometime but it does help. Thanks for doing this!
Those censor beeps being so out of sync had me laughing so hard on the train into work. 🤣 Thanks for taking one for the team and getting scammed.
Have you thought about doing a chargeback through your credit card on the "mortising tool"? While I completely understand that $50 is just the cost of video production would still be nice to see it pulled out of the pockets of the scammers. Too many chargebacks and VIsa / Mastercard will cut them off as well as a bonus.
If/when you get it back maybe throw it at some cause that is meaningful to you just as a talking point if you do another of these videos.
I actually ordered two of these mortising tools and received them. They looked like the one featured in the ad but were cheap knockoffs of the original product that is available from Canada at a much higher price (which is still reasonable). They were a long time coming and when I inquired about the delay, they responded that they would refund my money if I desired, and it was because of supply chain issues. They were indeed cheap and required assembly with very poor instructions.
I have the branding iron, takes 5 minutes to heat up with propane, its heavy and my art work on it was very well done. Wish Id gotten the electric one. I have one of your books, well worth the money. I'm real skeptical of things advertised on Facebook. Glad you exposed the scams!
The delayed beeps are hilarious and the fact that the delay gets further and further away makes it better
I freaking love Carson clamps they have come in handy more times than I can count
You should definitely check those Ted's Woodworking PDFs to see if any of your plans are in there.
This video was worth the longer format! Thanks for wasting your money so I didn’t have to! 😂 I hope by purchasing all of this stuff, you continue to get more ads to fuel another video of similar format. Cheers!
Great video! I always wonder what those plans are like - I write for a few woodworking magazines and now I'm wondering if some of my articles are in there!
Glad you bought the crap so we didn't have to!
Dude, the Gearheart electric branding irons are totally worth the extra spend.
I bought one and loved it so much that I bought a second one.
I thought about ordering from Make Something but wasn’t sure if it was a scam. (Lol) I just bought 2 books I hope I get more than a lovely fan.
i got a 4 pack of those clamps at the thrift store for like $3 and i'm happy with them at that price
Toyo's marketing always looked impeccable to me, now I really want one for Christmas!
The only way Ted's woodworking will go away is a class action lawsuit against clickbank
When I decided to start woodworking I set up my facebook page for it before ever mentioning what I was doing. Not an hour later I got bombarded with Ted's plans but thankfully never bought it. The fan should be in front of teds & the woodpecker rip-offs for the simple fact you can actually use & trust the fan.
That's exactly what I thought... the mortise tool is DEFINITELY better than the knock off crap, and stolen plans.
It's a fine fan but not much use making a mortise.
Should at least be an electric fan for the money spent.
It's a special day when you can be with someone discovering Toyo for the first time. Before you know it you'll be moving on to Koken and then Nepros. Enjoy these days they grow up so quick!
We have the Gearheart branding iron. I usually put it on the stove for 10 minutes.
Man just when I thought my respect for your impeccable taste has plateaued I find out you share my opinion about Drew being simply the best! Amazing work. Please do more of these (if you enjoy making them of course).
You struggled more with those spring corner clamps than without that was better than the add and I had my fingers crossed on the mortise jig I new it was a scam but I was hoping it wasn’t it looks like a great jig. As always thanks for a great laugh one of my favourite channels.
"If you know me, you know I like a nice box." True words my man. True words.
Thanks for donating your hard earned $$ to help save me from paying more stupid tax! I nearly bought those Carson clamps thinking they would make clamping my projects faster, they obviously didn’t stand a chance against the spring clamps and plastic squares.
I love your channel, and the Making It podcast. And I just wanted to say, that This motion pictures very help’ll me.
haha! Thank you!
“They ain’t got no clamps” 😂 My new favorite channel
😂😂 thanks for doing this one, love the disappointment in the scams, even though you knew it was one. 🤣🤣
I would however take that torch to your “ mortising jig” 😂😂
Thanks for sharing the "news" with us. I agree with Eddie Espinosa, use the fan to cool the branding iron spare the table cloth. Maybe Festool can incorporate the "fan" into their next Domino, you never know.
"If you know me, you know I like a nice box". Don't we all.
I recognize that Toyo brand. I think you mentioned them as an inspiration for your toolbox build a few months back. Anyway, thanks for taking the heat so we don't have to. Protect ya neck!
I got a set of those corner clamps as a Christmas gift one year and ended up spending more time and energy trying to use them than it was worth lol. Felt the same way you did
Every time you said "mortising tool" while holding up the fan, that was a definite LOL on my end.
I love that the beep happens longer and longer after the 'bad word'.
I actually fell for teds woodworking a few years ago. Man if I needed to build a computer desk that would fit a huge monitor or a tv console from the 80’s I’d be golden… I think some of the plans were typed out on a typewriter lol. I’ll buy your plans any day. Thanks for the video. PS love your books. When does the next one come out.
Thanks! I'm hoping to start the next book in 2023!
Dude, I love these real CZcamsy videos that you and John Malecki are doing!
If anybody has any more videos kind of like this from other creators, I'd love to see them.
I just ran into John a few weeks ago in LA at a conference!
@@MakeSomething neat! Collab when?
Gerald Undone (normally a photography/videography oriented channel) has done a really fun series of reviews on common CZcams Sponsor products (Magic Spoon cereal, Dr Squatch soaps, etc). They’re hilarious and super helpful because they’re almost universally bad products!
@@jakevance27 yeah that sounds exactly like something I'd like!
Toyo and Trusco both make some nice small Japanese tool boxes.
Two things. The late beeps for language are the best! I also bought something from a sketch website in the far east, and within one month, my bank flagged my card as being on the dark web. I did, however, receive the items I bought. 😁
Yikes!!!
I love those corner clamps. I have several of them. Work great for box building.
Those corner clamps are really helpful for framing, but it was entertaining to watch you trying to figure it out lol
They do work but not easy to work with. Not really suitable for picture frames unless the frames are quite narrow.
@@dwightl5863 I frame my wood art with 1x2s and while not the most ideal, they helped me as a beginner until I was more confident to do it myself. The springs do ease up after a while and they don’t snap back on you as easily. I’ve moved beyond them for sure though.
By far the best parts of this video are the well timed bleeps. LOL
I block so many ads on Facebook. Usually I just select irrelevant for the reason. But when a Pizza Hut ad came up I selected too personal 😂
You had me cracking up!
Tell your Grandad Hi. Hope he is doing well. Pray for him daily. He is surely leaving a lasting legacy. My grandkids are learning recipes their great great great grandmother taught me.
Love the beeps. So well-placed.
I get the temptation to open a Facebook shop just for you!
Excellent video!! So funny. Love the beeps. You're videos are so much fun, the new direction with your attitude and throwing stuff around is so entertaining
The "censorship" errors were TERRIFIC!!!
Thanks for "falling" for those scams. You read into that crap like I do... been close to falling for b.s. a few times before.
Thanks for your time
Not sure where this will fall in your own personal view of your catalogue of vids- but man, somehow this was way up there for me 🤣. Golden my dude.
That fan reminded of last summer when I ordered a tool from a website and got a silk scarf.
I got scammed a couple of years ago buying a 6 in 1 drill from a Facebook/Instagram ad. I paid 40 bucks and received an oriental cloth hankie that had a $5 tag like you'd use at a yard sale. 😂
I have a few of those aluminum corner clamps from banggood, all are perfectly square. They work quite well for people who refuse to pay woodpecker prices, or can't swing it.
Come August that fan might be a lot more useful.
I’ve got a gearhart brand. Love it. Made a cradle to hold it and heat it with my propane torch. I lay it on a scrap tile to cool.
Hilarious that the bleeps got farther away. This was awesome, good stuff!
I do use clamps like those, and they're not bad. They do a good job. But you have to get used to them. It's always weird a bit at first, as you saw for yourself. They seem complicated & yes the center moves "but it's suppose to be a bit stiff, a bit hard to move" in case you have a corner that is NOT 45 degrees. But when you get used to em & the way they work best. They're pretty cool little clamps. They work especially well if you work on boxes, shelves, drawers etc. Small stuff. You just need to get the hang of em.
Great video, loved the idea, laughed at the late beeps, learned something new. Keep up the great work!
The bleeps are amazing 😂😂😂 my type of humour, funniest video I've seen for a long time. I know that's not the point of the video, but it has really got me 😂😂 thank you!
Great video, Dave~! I've seen these same ads and have slightly wondered, so I'm happy to see that you've exposed them for the frauds that they are...other than the tool box and the possibly useful clamps at #2. I especially like how your sensor beeper seems to be a little laggy. Love it~!! :-D
I actually just saw an ad for one of those Carson clamps while watching your video lol
Those clamps are usable as a quick third hand so you can pin nail a box together. Not usable as a clamp but as a helper since they can be used with one hand. A pain to use on thick material. 12mm sheet is fine. Mine are made by Wolfcraft.
Love the mis timed bleep 😂😂
Correction…. Bleeps 😂
The late beeps are awesome!
the slide on the corner clamp is ''in theorie'' used for dissimilar thickness usage. For the few times it actually happens, I really wished it wouldn't be doing that!
My wife bought a pair of Nike’s off a website once and when they showed up they were some dollar store cheap flip flops 😂
I have the electric branding iron from Gearhart. Great quality. Been using it for years. I recommend it. Better than having an open flame in your shop.
Big fan of gear heart. We have their electric brand. Takes a while to heat up, but gets super hot.
This is different from your normal videos but it was very entertaining! I would love to see more vids like this
Thank you! I loved this! I laughed so hard my glasses got blurry from the tears! Great video!
Nice!
Patent pending means you’ve sent in the paperwork…..doesn’t guarantee approval(which must be why the woodpeckers still just have pat.pending)…..and ONLY covers US territories……but a common way to TRY and scare other competitors away……😅
BTW, Toyo has a market cap of 258 billion😎
Well not only did i find a great channel, you have also made me need one of the Japanese tool boxes. Absolutely love the look, reminds me of one of the first tool boxes i owned many years ago
Thank you!
I was looking to buy a welder and out of curiosity I looked on Facebook marketplace and was extremely surprised when I saw not only a welder that will laser weld, laser rust remover, mig and tig weld and was a plasma cutter for £59 if you add two zeros you could get a laser welder or a laser rust remover. When you look at the Facebook Page it said that they accepted PayPal but if you went to the payment page there is no mention of PayPal they just want your credit or debit card details. It’s very obviously is a scam if anyone gives their card details to them must have more money than sense. Or they just like to help someone empty their bank account. I think that Facebook should take responsibly for these adds and protect their users from these scumbags.
Bandsaw and kitchen tools books are amazing. A must have. You forgot to mention the cutting board book.
Pinterest is also full of these adds. Including the woodpecker branded tools, which then take you to a non woodpecker store. Banggood also do some of these things, like the corner squares and clamps. good value too.
I love that you bleeped "ridiculous" and not the F bomb HAHAHA
I have two Gearheart irons, drill press electric models in aluminum. They’re amazing. Everyone who sees them thinks they were done with a laser. The aluminum heats faster and the drill press mount has a spring system sp it gimbles for perfectly flat branding.
I ordered a bosch dual bevel miter saw off a site I knew was a scam, but they took Paypal so I know I'd be able to dispute it. After about 3 months and reversed Paypal charges, I got the sweetest pair of Ray Ban knockoffs
Oh man. Wow.
Happy Birthday Mike!
Bob talked about liking those TOYO tool boxed on your "Making It" podcast a few months ago.
Your well ill-timed "bleeps" had me rolling!
You and I had the same opinion of the Carson corner clamps. I bought a set and after the first attempt at using them tossed them in the junk tool box. They are so hard to compress and don't go over about 3/4". I don't recommend them at all. As for the sliding piece, I assume that it is supposed to be self-centering but I don't think so. Thanks for backing up my thoughts.
On the Woodpeckers ripoff corner clamps, I actually have that exact set that I bought on Amazon for a fair bit less than you ended up paying. I knew what size they were because the Amazon listing seemed much more accurate and less of a scam. Mine are perfectly square on the outside edge so they work well for holding together small boxes if I'm going to pin nail them. They pale in quality to the Woodpeckers ones, but I think I only paid like $8 for four of them, so I was satisfied with them.
I think "Ted's Woodworking" is purchased best while intoxicated! 🤣🤣
bleeping well after you swear had gotta be your new thing! Had me in stitches lol. And Ted's Woodworking can suck a fat one - I get ads for that crap all the time 😂
I have two of those corner clamps, different brand but same style. They are a pain in the ass to use. The sliding thing, check, the flimsiness and the fact that they're just useless if you're trying to hold two pieces of wood at 90 degrees.
I purchased Ted's Woodworking Plans. The only thing I ever made out of the plans was a Japanese Folding Fan. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
David, I do have a Gearheart branding iron (the electric one). I did not find it from Facebook but through internet search. The file I sent them for my design came back very good and identical to my Atwood Creations logo.
I have some version of the Carson clamp, they are pretty handy. Those things are white-labeled and marketed as THE MUST HAVE TOOL, but such easy scambait.
I love how you bleeped out the word ridiculous instead of f@%$ing!
I have a 4 piece set of the knockoff woodpecker corner clamps, and they work great. For $23 vs $217 it's a no brainer. Mine are square.... They are much smaller than woodpeckers, but I didn't know if they had different sizes to pick from when I ordered.
Thanks for doing the work on this.
I really enjoyed this video and it was a good lesson for all of us. It reminded me of Steve Goodman's song "Veg O Magic".
Functionally, the Carson clamps are more comparable to WOODPECKERS BC4-M2 BOX CLAMP. They have the same sliding inner wedge. They are useful but expensive. For a lot less money, I like Rockler's Clamp-it Clips.
Gearheart industry is a great company to work with
Have a set of the corner clamps like those. Use then for small picture frames and they work great, anything bigger there are better options. Also didn't even pay that much for mine from amazon.
This is such a cool idea. You're onto something here. Mahalo for sharing! : )
