    Your issue with the pipe sizes was due to going to 2.75 adapter. If you got a connecter specifically for 2.5 outside dimension pipe (which the existing exhaust pipe and outlet on muffler is) it would have snugged right up.

    Ran my 05 straight piped like that for a year or two wasn’t really that bad honestly. It’s much louder now with long tube headers, no cats and a “muffler” which is straight through flow. Your problem with the 2.5 inch adapter would be you didn’t get 2.5 inch ID (inside diameter) which is meant to fit over 2.5 inch OD (outside diameter). Your truck sounds good I’m glad you’re happy with it. This is what started my exhaust mods on my truck😂

    • @sendit2873
      @sendit2873 Před 4 lety

      only if it is for 2 1/2 inside diameter there are two different types if it is 2 1/2 in outside diameter it is the exact same size if it says outside diameter it slides over the pipe if you are not a good mechanic you should not work on cars a parts changer is not a mechanic you need to know what things are why and what it affects not just cut the pipe put a cold air intake and because it sounds good you have more horsepower learn before you tear up a good car or truck

  • @lvlndco
    @lvlndco Před 5 lety +15

    You will need to get some more pipe to get it routed out the side but need to do that ASAP. The exhaust blowing on the tire will likely either cause a blowout or other damage as that is a lot of heat. The new muffler sounds good. I think the pipe fittings they sold you are for welded connections but those cuts look like a good work around so you didn't have to go searching for more parts.

    • @AndrewDoesLife
      @AndrewDoesLife  Před 5 lety +1

      Thank you Jeff, don’t worry, the flexible exhaust pipe is on its way it just hasn’t arrived yet. Once I get it the exhaust tip will stick out to the side still but will not be anywhere near the tire, the set up I have is just a place holder for now. I am in love with the way this muffler sounds. It’s so crazy that there’s little sound at all in the cabin but with the windows rolled down it sounds low and mean hah

I searched it on americantrucks.com and in there they said it would fit and is universal; but again, it is listed as 3" pipe. I truly appreciate your insight!!

      Well, I believe technically the pipe starts out at a 3 inch pipe and then goes down to the 2.5 when you get to the tip. If you’re going for a muffler replacement like I did or something along those lines a 4 inch pipe would be my suggestion just to be on the safe side

    There are many different connectors out there, you got the wrong one. That is why you had trouble. You shouldn't have to modify the connector with those slots, if you got the right one it would have slipped on. I just had to replace one of my clamps I went to the AutoZone to get the pipe clamp. You definitely need a 2.5 " clamp. They should be labeled with the diameter and an id or od after it. I prefer the flat connectors that have the clamp built-in like the one you showed at the beginning. They conform to the contours and get a better seal. It's also better because you get on either side of the joint, on both pipes. Walker makes a good one, it's called the mega clamp and it is slightly tapered so that tighter fit around the smaller pipe. They are made specifically made for an outside to inside diameter joint so they really work well in my opinion, definitely prefer them over u-bolt style. When I did mine I opted for a cat back system so I replaced the muffler as part of that. Very happy with the results and it's been very durable too.

    Flowmaster super 40 is the best aggresive muffler for a truck. Has a deeper sound, and the super 40 has a thicker casing than the original 40 or super 44 which allows it to handle a higher flow for higher horsepower engines.

      @@AndrewDoesLife Thank you. I put one on my 2005 single cab Daytona edition Ram 1500 and it sounds great. Still the factory y-pipe, but no cats. I got the single 3 inch in with dual 2.5 inch out super 40. Installed a custom tune as well and it really made a difference. Doesn't shift out of 3rd into 4th until 140mph, and still has all of 4th and 5th to go from there. Fastest I have ran it is about 150mph. Love having the speed limiter turned off.
