I have an 08 Ford F150 FX4 crew cab and I have them straight piped like the one in the first one. I think it sounds best. It's very very deep especially on a cold start and still has just the right amount of wah bah to it. I put a Flowmaster on it start with a single in dual out 40 series and kept the cat on it cuz I don't want no check engine lights on and it sounded just a lil louder than the stock muffler I was not impressed to say the least. So I told the guy at the muffler shop who put it on for me that if he would hack it off and straight pipe it that I would give the Flowmaster to him in return If he would just str8 pipe it out the back. I don't drive anything--but Fords and all of the ones I've had have sounded good it all just depends on what you're willing to do to it and what motor it has.dont take it the wrong way I'm not trashing flowmaster or after market mufflers the best sounding one I've had was a 92 flareside wit a 302 and a 1 in 2 out flow 40 series exhaust with no catalytic on it. It wasnt quite as baseful as the str pipe 5.4 truck I have now but definetly had more wah bah to it. if you're willing to cut the catalytic converters off I would prefer Flowmasters they sound great single in dual out one Muffler sounds gr8, but if you want to leave the cat on and not worry about no check engine light codes or emissions then straight pipes the way to go.

If you did that you would have a great sound. Thing to remember is that a muffler system with two tailpipes and one muffler is a lil louder than the true duals you are talking about but the true duals have more base to them and are not as raspy with as much of the wah bah sound (backpressure pop when revved up high in lower gears and maden to slow its self back down by the the gearing. Also leaving the cats on or taking them off make alot of difference in whatever you put on there totally diff sound.

@CASharkHunter Absolutely not. The 3V was a horrible engine.

The 2 valve was basicly the crown Vic motor, indestructible block, in 04 they went to the 3 valve design which had alot of issues, a ticking time bomb honestlyn

No cats no mufflers duel with an x pipe is the loudest and least clapping sound you can get from a 3v

Yes I agree with that, but it's to obviously loud like that. You end up hearing g not but the loud notes all the time. A perfect exhaust is where you can hear half the sound from the motor and the other half from the muffler/ pipes. You slap the cats back onto it and run that same setup your talking bout then it's just bout as good as it can get but without the cats you mine as well not even have a radio In it bc your not gonna be able to hear the music anyways. Also you might want to keep some advils around to bc you gonna keep a headache.

@@j.r.ledbetter1416 the sound deading in those trucks are so good its not that loud in the cab and the x pipe quiets it down more than you would think my uncles truck has that exhaust on it and he drives it daily and is not bad in the cab but on the outside it sounds like a straight piped mustang

@@kingstyle7314 well I will be honest I've never heard the setup you are talking about on the 5.4. and I will agree with you about the cab in the way the sound doesn't travel through their Ford makes a great interior and can on those trucks it feels and sounds like you are in a Escalade or better yet a navigator. But I have heard alot of 90s and early 2000's trucks that are str8 pipe and not cats and they literally were so damm loud that you could hear them even after they drove out of sight and I think people just get loud and sounding good mixed up bc it's not the same. I would like to here what you are talking about tho bc where I am at I dont think I've ever heard a str8 pipe mustang either. everyone around here has flows on the stangs. Which I cant say nothing about that bc that's what I would have to if I had a h/o ford motor one flow muffler 2 in two out with no cats. The flowmasterwas made for the 5.0liter ford motors nothing g sounds better but a truck is a lil diff know what I mean

Also you are probably right I don't know anything about an x-pipe I didn't know that it was too quiet it down I've only ever run wipes and they don't do that so learned something new today

@@j.r.ledbetter1416 an x pipe basically helps with scavenging exhaust gas because your exhaust flows in pulses and the x pipe helps to accelerate the scavenging which is why big tips and big pipes make that clapping sound that's the exhaust not scavenging fast enough and "hitting" itself on the way out which makes it seem quieter he ran true duel straights on that truck for about a week before changing it because it was loud enough to make your ears nearly bleed you couldn't start the truck in a car port with the windows down or door open it was that bad its still loud but not as bad and has a nice mix of rasp and some burble

On the blue f150 where can I find a tip like that? I’m running a 2.5” inlet and a 5” outlet on an 06 single to a y-pipe, but switching to true duals. but I want the same tip as that truck... if you could help me find one and or where I can get it I’d gladly buy one. If you guys ship and it’s only from you I would love to get one!
