My folks use to go dancing to guy when he came up to NH every year, what a time they had,. Folks use to dress up , dad in a suite and tie, mom in a dress all spiffed up,. Those were the days,. I ve got a pic of Dad, Mom, and Guy together.
if this song were written today, it'd be about how sioux city sue sued guy lombardo for stealing a kiss without her permission. she became known as #metoo sioux city sue.
And the Nova Scotia connection is intriguing. Had to memorize the Forest Primeval. Bet you all did too. Actually I grooved on it. The sad, sad story of Evangeline. My best girl friend as a child had that name. Was called Vangie. Thanks, Lloyd
A great posting Lloyd. I love several Big Band songs. Liked this one very much. Stars and hugs with best wishes for a great weekend...Jan (and Susan) ♥
This has to be the version I listed to on my parents Admiral slide-out record player 55 years ago. I could have sworn it was more country with Eddie Howard singing, but with the Mandela Effect and the Comic Book world we seem to be living in, I must be mistaken. It said the original was 1945. I also thought it was 1938.
@MisterStereo Lloyd, the song you sent Our Little Ranch House is probably the one. It was so many years ago that I heard it. Thanks so much for going to so much trouble. Tony
MisterStereo, are there any complete Guy Lombardo Show videos, instead of just individual songs? I like the banter back and forth, and then the intro by Guy, and then Bill Flanagan or Kenny Gardner getting up to sing. Can you post, or do you know another source? Thanks a million--Enjoy your posts!
Lloyd can you see if you have "Little Red Cabin" I'm pretty sure that is the title. It is very good and I've been looking for ever...written by Carmen Thanks Tony
Beautiful music, beautiful era.
They don't make music like this today!
I never get tired of listening to this wonderful orchestra. They must have had a ball playing so well.

Dick Thomas and Ray Freedman wrote Sioux City Sue in 1945. Thomas recorded it and the song was then featured in the 1946 movie starring Gene Autry.
