I love the sound of Guy Lombardo and his Orchestra and Carmen singing. And I really think it´s "the Sweetest Music This Side Heaven".

Carmen Lombardo was one of the greatest band vocalists. Very underrated as a singer.

Mister Stereo: Thanks so much for sharing this with us. Younger generations who don't remember Guy and his wonderful band will now have the chance to enjoy the Sweetest Music This Side of Heaven. I'm so proud to say that Guy was also a fellow Long Islander and he brought so much joy to us with his magnificent summer productions at the Jones Beach Theater. I just picked up some vintage CDs of the band and I could not agree more with dewey44 that Carmen Lombardo was a terrific singer. No disrespect intended to Kenny Gardner, whom I remember from the live TV broadcasts when I was a youngster. That was a hugely talented group of musicians and vocalists. I still miss them after all these years.

Am going on 78 years of age. Back in the early 50's my father who was a friend of Fred (Derf) Higman the sax/clarinet player with the mustache, took me to the Waldorf Astoria when they were rehearsing. They were all really nice. Didn't me Guy as he wasn't there. A great era.

Was in radio in the 1970's into the 80's. Program spanned the decades of Entertainment from prior WW1-to the Fifties. Guy was a favorite of our audience. Had the chance to meet him in 1971, when our local theatre was closing. He and the Royal Canadians were on hand to give the Embassy in Waltham, Ma. it's final show. He was a most congenial, and never tired of the pictures and autographs. Never lost his common touch, and was a great man.

i like Carmens style. Talented but not flaunting it. Appears he does not want the lime light. Just discovering him and he is a great singer.

What a delightful clip! Thank you so much for posting it, Mister Stereo.
Is it from a television show or a motion picture? Where is the performance that the clip shows? I know that Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadians were resident at the Hotel Roosevelt in New York City until 1959.
