The Miller story was made in 1953. Tex was not hated by helen Miller. He was only removed from the leadership because he was trying to modernize the band instead of playing the same old tunes. 240p and 1080p are the resolutions, but youtube sets higher audio quality when played in HD, you should say about modern music recorded in lossless, high audio quality, anyways this music should be listened to on analog, but sadly we aren't gonna listen to it like that anymore :( now imagine that in 50 years from now people will listen to 009soundsystems and say it was awesome (just kidding)
i do mah best! My goal is to bring jazz back to the spotlight, cuz the current ''pop'' music needs to go. Jazz and anything big band is the best for a mood boost or to relax you, and more people need to realize that..
They look a little stiff, probably the 8th take and the director was probably making them nervous, but what a fantastic sound. What a great orchestra. Is it Glenn Miller? And what a great voice. Tex was awesome. Is that Marion Hutton singing with the quartet. Perfect harmony. One reason there was an explosion of great music in America from the 1920s to the 50s was that every high school back then had a music department which taught voice, instruments, orchestra and lots of music theory. Many high schools today dont teach as intensly or have dropped music altogether. Look at all the crappy "music" today, or should I say, "autotune".
Sadly by this time Glenn was long gone. His plane was lost over the English Channel on Dec. 15th 1944. For decades it was thought the plane carrying him and another officer had been hit by jettisoned RAF bombs. Later research using modern forensic methods showed that was impossible: the plane was positively ID'ed by coast spotters at a time and position that put it at the wrong place and wrong time to have been anywhere near the bombers. What the new investigation found is even sadder, because it turns out that the crash was totally avoidable IF people had followed standard safety rules: > The plane was known to have a defective fuel de-icer, but was patched and sent out rather than being properly repaired. > Neither Maj. Miller nor the other officer got clearance for the flight. If they had asked they would have almost certainly been ordered to stand down, due to the bad weather that day. > The pilot agreed to make the trip despite not being trained for bad-weather flying. So take your pick: mechanical failure, pilot error, or maybe both.
@jabsco23 true FACT lol...we sounded good, and I got a thumbs up from this lady who handles jazz music at her recording studio, but I'm only 16, so I still have a LONG way to go. And of course there's never anything as good as the original
No. They'd gone out on their own when Miller went into the AAF in 1942. This group is the Crew Chiefs who were carried over from the AAF Orchestra. The Modernaires didn't rejoin Tex until the 1950s, after he'd split with the Miller Estate.
@@hobbygamer6220 Uh, google is your friend. Miller was lost in a plane crash over the English Channel on Dec. 15th, 1944. The most recent investigation put blame on a poorly-maintained aircraft combined with a pilot who agreed to the trip despite bad weather. The sad, frustrating part is that if ANYONE - the repair crew, the pilot, or even Miller himself who signed on for a risky trip - had followed standard safety protocols he'd have been with us for years to come.

Great musicians, wonderful music, great films, classier folks, better style of dress, and it seemed like people just had more fun!
A good 2/3 of the musicians in the early Beneke band were alumni of one or more of Miller's orchestras. They "knew the book".
Wow...thank you for this. I just happened to run across this today, the day my father passed away 3 years ago. This was one of his favorite songs.
