This video covers the basics of marijuana withdrawal. This video does not discuss depersonalization or dissociation withdrawal symptoms. These will be addressed in a separate video about weed/ THC withdrawal.
Marijuana withdrawal can include appetite changes, mood changes, sleep changes, weight changes, and other physical THC withdrawal symptoms.
Cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is another type of condition some people may be experiencing while withdrawing from marijuana. CHS or cannabinoid hyperemeis syndrome often involves periods of vomiting, weight loss, nausea, and muscle pain. Cannabinoid Hyperemesis syndrome is a serious condition and should not be taken lightly.

Currently on Day 4, smoked 8-10 times daily (multiple bowls per session) for over 2 years. The scariest part before quitting is the feeling that you will never be able to enjoy life again. I quit nicotine a few months ago and was putting off quitting weed. I appreciate all of the people who’s stories encouraged me to keep going and that it would get better. Still struggling with sleep, slight headaches, and some cravings, but nothing like it was on days 2-3. To those who are feeling like death right now in the first few days. Keep going! It will get better and it will get better quickly after symptoms peak. We can do this. We are all in this together.

After 8 years of everyday smoking I am now on day 3. My symptoms are pretty much awful, I feel like I have the flu. I started in 2014 after my son overdosed on fentanyl and heroin mix. I was so suicidal my husband didn’t want me to get addicted to anti depressants so I found a source to get it and that began this long journey. I was under the impression at the time that you couldn’t get addicted to it, but now I know better. I am looking forward to a sober mind and living out what’s left of my “golden years.” I am 71 years old and this addiction is not limited to just young people it’s everywhere and could be anybody. I appreciate all your helpful advice and am encouraged to keep moving forward. Thank you.
Hope you’re doing well.

I like to consider myself pretty healthy, I am active, I am a healthy weight, I workout. But recently I’ve stopped smoking because I feel like It doesn’t match the lifestyle I wanna live. After quitting I feel really unhealthy and going to contract a illness and die and not live a fulfilled life. I know this is just my anxiety getting to me but It’s been hard trying to keep my mind off things. I figured I would share my feelings and experiences while quitting incase somebody else is feeling the same way I am currently and needs some relief and someone to relate to. It’s hard for me at nights because I start to think and get trapped in scary thoughts.
I start to think about if I need to be put on anxiety meds but I’ve never dealt with anxiety before on this scale. I’m praying to god that this shall pass and I will get back to my “normal” self.
He is exactly right when he talks about how many believe that it helps with anxiety, which it does for some, but it is often overlooked that it can drastically make the anxiety worse
Yeah makes my anxiety worse about a year in I hated smokin with friends because whenever I was baked it gave me bad anxiety always thinking people are looking at me and that I look stupid and shit but I still kept doing it to the point of panic attacks which led to health anxiety
So true 👍🏿
My quick story for those who may find this helpful. I was a very heavy smoker for 15 years, during the week I would typically smoke in the morning and then several joints every night. I also used concentrates. On weekends I was literally chain smoking joints. It was all fun for most of the time, but in my mid 30s weed started giving me really bad anxiety, so much so that the anxiety is what made me want to quit, something that I never thought I would even consider doing on my own. I never dealt with anxiety before. It was really bad, heart pounding in my chest, all of the worst possible outcomes to everything in my life seemed unavoidable. Anyway, I quit. What I experienced was a month of insomnia and just like Doc here said I started having anxiety just normally throughout the day, not as bad as the anxiety weed caused but still pretty bad and worse than I ever dealt with prior when I was not high. When I would sleep I would have such vivid dreams that I would wake up at 4 am and not be able to go back to sleep. My diet was also thrown off, was not as prominent as the insomnia and anxiety but it was noticeable. I too craved simple foods, like turkey sandwiches and water. Long story short even after 15 years of daily use these symptoms tapered off as the month passed. Eventually the anxiety went away and sleep, again like Doc said, became better that it ever had been for me. Without weed, and after the withdrawal period, I felt like the mental acuity that got me into my profession slowly came back to me (I am a pathologist). Work was more fun and manageable than it ever was on weed. Because I wasn't stoned all the time I was more confident making plans with friends and became a lot more social. In fact all of my relationships, in every capacity, improved dramatically over the next few months. I developed new hobbies and although I had always exercised, I was able to be more regular and intense with it. I feel like my will power improved, may have been a confidence booster knowing I could kick something I lived with for so long. One thing I always worried about was not being able to enjoy certain things that I was very used to doing high, like gaming with friends, fishing etc. But what I actually found was that eventually (towards the end of the first month) that I enjoyed those things more sober actually. No bs, I really mean that. If you had told me that 5 years ago I wouldn't have listened. Anyway, my point is literally everything gets better. Keep it up and don't give up or replace pot with another vice. You absolutely have this, trust me!!
Wow… thank you so much for such a detailed breakdown of your experience 🎉
This comment has put me abit more at ease, I smoked weed from the age of 18 till 29 yrs old I have been on anti depressants for like 2 years but still smoked weed everyday, I finally manged to quit like 5 week ago but since then my anxiety and depression is getting worse I don't find anything interesting I'm not eating proper sleeping proper I drag myself to go on a walk everyday but that's it I'm so tired after it. I guess I just gonna keep going ?

I’m in the same boat. I’m dealing with the withdrawal symptoms right now, it’s been a week since I’ve stopped. Weed started giving me the same anxiety and heart palpitations symptoms. The last straw was when I hit a vape and then the anxiety started. I was driving. I normally would but this was different. It was an uncomfortable drive home with elevated heart beat convincing myself I’m ok. It’s no longer enjoyable so I am done. Thanks for sharing
Quitting was a great decision, I'm closer to my children. And I work out now to replace the reward system for my brain. I'm 37 and I've been smoking since 13. I'm 11 days clean and still going.
I started smoking weed when I was 16. By 18, it was an everyday thing, starting with a wake n bake and then smoking another bowl about every two hours or so until bedtime. I'm 36 now and finally decided to take back control of my life. I've tried to quit a few times, but between the insomnia, irritability, lack of appetite, and the most horrible nightmares imaginable, I always relapsed. I'm now two weeks sober (the longest I've ever been clean) and only still having the nightmares. The cravings are insane. Everyday is a battle, but I'm committed to winning the war!
Do CBD it proven to heal addictions
the nightmares are horrible, night terrors even.

Chamomile tea works wonders for insomnia and for me it also stopped the dreaded night sweats as well. Best of luck to you, the nightmares will pass soon enough.
15 days sober. Going on 16. I'm gonna miss getting baked with my friends but I'm getting through all the withdrawal symptoms. And I'm still gonna commit to staying sober. Not for anyone else, but for me.
Same here brother. Keep going 🙏
I think im on day 25, the first two to three weeks were absolutely horrendous.
The stomach pains for me were absolutely unfathomable, then the anxiety attacks and intrusive thoughts.
But dude I can honestly tell you i'd never want to go back, im so glad that im detoxing and you'll be glad too.
You have to push through, you dont need weed, you've convinced yourself you do.
Very well said “you convinced yourself you do” that addictive voice is a very powerful thing.
@@AddictionMindset Its pretty wild to be on the outskirts of it, looking back and realizing how substances especially fostered by environments where youre alone can take advantage of self talk to keep addictions going.
update : I'm on day 60, stomache pains go away within the first month, brain fog is at 30%, I will point out being depressed, intrusive thoughts will occur if you smoked for a long time, I had been smoking from 18 to 32.
Most of the mental health aspect is clearing any psychological guilt or remorse for being high, investing alot of years into being high.
It will suck but be content knowing that it is a symptom of a root problem from addiction, and not some never ending situation.
it can feel like it, but the re-wiring you go through cutting weed off is unlike anything i've experienced.
Its like I shed off my old self, also cutting social media, news, uneccessary youtubing besides self help, gardening, auto mechanic, self study videos is acceptable. No screen time before bed, always gradually get off before 8, 9 pm to release melatonin naturally which is postponed by white light stimulation
Any exercise, pull ups, sit ups, basic 30 minute cardio, grounding which involves wearing no shoes and walking on the ground, grass, it sounds weird but the rubber in your shoes prevents electromagnetic energy to balance between your body and the earth.
Getting good sleep, reading, meditating, being present, merely observing nature, animals, your backyard.
The key is learning contentment with no substance, within the pure reality of everyday life.
Dieting, turmeric honey vinegar shots, buy a blender and pure vegetables, such as Kale, beets, ginger, superfood, antioxidants, chia, flax, almond milk, make basically pure vegetable and or normal fruit smoothies, i wouldnt say as much pineapple as I would beet/kale.
Getting as much greens daily, with pro-biotics that help cleanse the gut bacteria can affect mental health as most of the human body is regulated via the gut bacteria.

Thank you for the inspiration with your videos and the comments others make. It’s put me on a good path. ❤
Same here let's find a nicer more fulfilled lifestyle. good luck
Yes, I know we’ll get there. Best of everything to you.
It’s crazy how perfectly you described the withdrawels. I’ve attempted quitting multiple times before with no sucess. This video inspires confidence and makes me feel way better going into my next attempt!
Keep it up. Don't get discouraged. Give Grace and mercy on yourself... You'll get through it. Call out sick if you're working. That's what sick days are for. No job is worth your health. Because of your health is gone. You can't work. Peace be with you

I’ve smoked just about everyday for the past three years and quit nine days ago. You just gotta have the right mindset. When you’re feening for it, think of it as the addiction leaving your body. You’re not gonna be able to sleep and eat as well for a week or so but it’s soooo worth it. I’ve never felt better in my life.

Smoking resin in place of the real thing is what makes me feel like crap when quitting for a while, just quit for a while never turn to smoking gunk.
This is so hard. The anger I have and the lashing out at my kids and wife. I feel so much regret. I watch these videos every night to help keep going and read all your comments for inspiration. I’m really trying but this is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.
From a random dude whose on day 2 of trying to stop., with severe chs where I’ve been sick all day and miserable is a light word for the way I feel. Stick with it not only for you but your family. This shits hard, but I believe in you, WE got this!
Keep at it bro and don’t give up on yourself and your fam. Additionally, don’t be to hard on yourself. At least you are trying to improve yourself, and you are self - aware of your irritability. But is not like you are doing on purpose or ignoring the facts. At least you are trying man, actually you are not trying, you are actually doing it.
just take is easy on the fam bro they're your people only saying this because I do the same and the regret is bad.. so bad it makes u wanna smoke and apologize but that's the worse habit most of us long term users have... it sucks but little by little things get easier and better
Same here , thank you for being honest! I am on day 6 and I feel as if I have been the worst mom and fiancé ever 😩 My tolerance level for anything is at 0 . have to embrace you
Me rn, Whenever im out or taking a t break, couple hours pass by and boom i get very very nauseous and its hard to do anything even look at food due to me gettin the feelin to just throw up
Gotta work out and try to eat. Start with food you know you love. Working out will help you. I had the same problems. Day 17 weed free after smoking at least twice a day for 4 years straight
Day 2 and vomiting. Hard to keep even water down. Have some anti nausea tablets. But nothing in my gut to help them not cause more trouble maybe. Doing pretty good. Feel funky. Tired. Bit on edge but also just wanna sleep. Emotional. Little bouts of sadness as I give myself a hard time for being in this position again. Also thoughts of not being able to do life straight or numbed. Tend to have craved fruit in the past when quit. Sometimes I can't even touch water though. So showering is hard... Drinking it feels great. I almost wanna skull it. But the nasuea brings it back up if I don't sip it. Feelings of sadness are uncomfortable. Quite sick of it. All the over feeling is uncomfortable. All the stimulation feels too much. Just wanna sleep it all off...
Oh, and thank you for this... Though I been telling myself I'll be fine in a few days. Not a few weeks or months. Think it depends on how long and how much you've smoked to know your timeline... I hear the sweats and burn ups is the body actually burning up the toxic residue of it left over. And adjusting from functioning with pot to now functioning without it. Like a re collaboration of sorts... Very clever bodies. And very loyal by changing things up to accept living with such substances. But the changing back seems alot more of a ride. And your right. We're just a little ill as such for a while. So we need to take care of whatever ails us, however we need it. Oranges are fantastic. Oh god. Right now I could use some of that yummy slightly pulpy organic orange juice you can find in some places. Man that would be a treat right now... 😊 🙏 🌈

Man, weed really helped screw up my life. In my 20s and early 30s I had it all. Had an awesome job, multiple income streams, worked out regularly. Started smoking later in life, and it really screwed me up. Got so lazy and lost almost everything. I can't 100% blame it on weed, but it was a huge factor. I still don't think it should be illegal, but people really need to recognize that it's not a harmless substance, at least for your mental health.
100% blame it on weed? C'mon now dude, you abused it and you're blaming _100%_ on the substance? It's so simple yet many don't just don't get it. Don't want negative side effects, withdrawal, or it turning your lazy? Don't smoke every day and don't smoke large amounts. You were dependant it sounds.
It can't make someone lazy if they aren't dependant on it for X reason in the first place. Instead of quitting I cut back, big difference. Tolerance isn't even a problem anymore. Only take a few hits every few times a week.
Also just don't smoke for no reason, those fee times a week is when I workout at the gym. So I'm only high doing something productive, and it's easy being productive on this plant when it doesn't have you by the balls. It's simple.

I will write my story in a couple of days just because my headaches are killing me and the nausea.
I am now 5 days sober and today i am feeling better but damn these withdrawals are killing me. Anxiety and stress , depression and night sweats plus nausea are hitting me hard. I am a new dad of a 3 months now and I feel like shit to be like this with an addiction. I cry everyday in the shower and all because I feel like I’m the worst dad.
I cannot believe what I did to my body by smoking a simple herb and taking 50 mg THC capsules.
I know I will get through this eventually but it feels like an eternity.
For those out there, I feel you and we can do this.
I started smoking 2 years ago and it is only at nights so I can relax and sleep. Started only the weekends and it built up.
I decided to change my life and be a better version of myself.
I send love to everyone struggling and staying clean.

Thank you. My addiction is totally secret and I’m so thrilled to be free. I’m finishing day 4 and it’s only bad for me at night. My symptoms are mostl bitchiness.
I’ve been less hungry for sure. This video is great. I’ve subscribed.I feel almost guilty because my symptoms aren’t as bad as what I’m reading. I’ve smoked weed daily for over20 years! This better be anonymous!!!
I’ve had a nightmare time with my ears which is what finally made me do this.
I have epilepsy and am a bit nervous I’ll have a seizure but I’m too ashamed to tell my neurologist. So far so good.
This channel’s media is exceptional. Excellent.
Day 19 sober, really struggling, this gave me a ton of hope!

@Sk8KMD I feel good bro stay strong!! Trust the process! I’m a man of faith so I did it with God. All glory to God for giving me the strength. Keep busy reading/studying. Watching positive content and staying away from negativity. You got this bro! Rise above the distractions. I feel amazing. In a humble way
@Sk8KMD it’s worth it. Your future self will thank you. You can accomplish so much more without that. Forget who says you can still smoke and be productive. I’m way more productive without it and I’m sure a lot will agree
I’m on day 3 too!!
Needed this...I feel like my head has this vice that is tightening but just listening to this has decreased my anxiety...THANK YOU 😊
It's been over a month now. I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be a long distance runner again. I've dropped 10 lbs and I have abs again that I haven't really seen in at least a decade. My boss is thrilled with my productivity. My relationship with my family has vastly improved. I can hold conversations without getting lost, I can focus clearly without distraction again. I feel like a totally different person living a totally different life. Thank you Jesus for this opportunity. May God bless anyone reading this. Don't give up, you can have your life back too!
