FYI, singed has always been considered an ornn counter, as he prevents ornn from using R2, thanks to his W. But few actually played it on pro scene because they simply never even remember that singed exists.
Which is why I thought it was ridiculous using that game as an example, because despite it being a pick that did fine into Ornn at the time, Bwipo was getting absolutely omegafisted and completely made a fun of by 369 in lane and only won because of jgl/bot gap.
Levi nocturne pick to hit lv6 at 5 minutes in 2017 against FNC was so off-meta it still gave EU content creator PTSD 7 years later, making them unable to include it into 2 14 minutes videos on off-meta picks lmao 😂😂😂

I remember Soaz playing Maokai and being level 1 with 0 cs at like 6 minutes into the game
It's a very old off-meta pick, but in the past, of seasons 1-2, where only viable supports were the healers (and somewhat Janna with shields), showed up a new pick, that surprised everyone. That pick was Gangplank Support by Dignitas.
Also, the player who started playing AD Kennen in a professional setting was the Spanish player Jimbz from the GIANTS team. It was his actual main back then.
Old school M5/Gambit days were so good.
That Singed pick was even more amazing than you explain. TES picked a comp based on pocking on the distance with huge range damage and movility. FNC showed a really outrangeable composition but for the last picks, when they decided to show the Singed + Galio. Pairing those 2 champs is amazing as it neutralizes completely TES gameplan. Adding also Rakan for more engage, Kindred for protection on the backlane with the ultimate and Senna giving support with it's own ultimate they won on champ select. Amazing draft from FNC!

The Mordekaiser graphic for the most one also reminded me of the Morde ADC meta a while back. Maybe we can get another video with the craziest meta picks that were used consistently for a short period of time before getting patched? As opposed to this which are champions actively countering the meta.
AFAIK Singed is also considered soft counter to Ornn because W stops Ornn R2 cast

Poppy was a blast to play before rework, sorry I can't lret you say she was boring. Completely broken for sure, an abomination to the health of the game, but I've never had more fun than on that champion before her rework.
In the past we were known for Off-Meta Picks and cool strategies, now we are only known for getting shitstomped by G2 every split. Hurts to be a fnatic fan

Iirc Garen + Yuumi was created as a way to deal with the terribly done revamped of adc items system, which forced people to play vlad, swain, and even old Aatrox to deal damage. Then this strat got countered when T1 brought Kayle bot for Teddy and this duo couldn't do anything about it

My favorite part of the faker olaf mid game was that irelia was faker's pocket azir counter at the time, and G4 disrespected him by blind picking it into him to prevent an azir game. Thus faker had to pick an off-meta counter to his own off-meta counter
