    Any chance that what they were supposed to be putting aside was food, hence “store it up”? Especially since there was a famine they were helping with? it may make more sense with the idea of that avoiding the need to be “collecting” when Paul arrived too. The word “every” is supplied by translators I believe. But it seems that it could have just as well been “the first of the week/sabbath” (which could be a reference to the time of the gathering of the firstfruits?) Obviously, since they were addressing an isolated emergency, it was not something they needed to be doing perpetually though.
