The whole "getting your rear end light before grabbing a bunch of brake" is such a great tip, well done guys.
Thanks Doug! Glad it was helpful!!
Same for me! Thanks
@@aeros_yt I couldn't understand can you rewrite in simple words?
Please!
@@akshit9774 Turn handlebars first, then front brake second. NOT front brake first.
@@markmccall6273 😭thank
You so much, hope it helps.
I actually loved that you went ahead and posted this even without April getting the full skill. It was encouraging to see how many tries it can take to make good progress. It motivates me to want to go out and keep sessioning things that I think I just haven't given enough attempts to master. I hope you film April doing a part 2 so we can cheer with her when she gets the handlebars turned all the way and gets that 180. :)
S Wrigley thank you! We are glad that it helped motivate you 😊
Wrigley is spot on. For these skills that don’t come naturally it’s important to see that it takes alot of practice. I’d venture to guess that most bikers are average riders at best (not taking away from April’s level) like guys like me. While only a select few who become pros like Kyle may have grasped these types of moves quicker.
Kyle...you have such patience with April 👍🙏
Well said Wigley. April is a real trooper working new riding skills in front of the camera.
Applied some of your lessons on today's ride. Carving turns with body position, jumping / hitting bumps with preload to prevent nose diving on short kickers.
Keep up the good work!
April worked so hard on this one! It was so cool to see her determination and it made me really proud of her. It was really fun trying to break it down for you guys, Let us know if you have any questions or comments below! :)
The preload in body rotation is also used in skateboarding.
This looks harder because of the fork preload needed as well.
April is hardcore ,you are a great team.
Great teaching video, broke it down nicely. I've always wanted to learn this trick, will be really useful on downhill switchbacks. I always have put to much emphasis on the front brake (just like with stoppies). Got those after watching that video. Am confident I'll have more success now, just takes knowledge and practice. You've provided the knowledge. Thanks. And April - way to get after it girl!👊
Kind of nice to see April not totally nail everything on her first day trying (despite expert instructions). She is mortal after all.
Intelligently Stoopid if you want to spin the other way Kyle suggests switching foot stance. I tried to spin the other way without switching stance and it was way harder!
I'm thinking that the coach is very good🙄
I heard April say feeling defeated. I hope you realize at the start of the video you said your goal was 90, and you way exceeded that. So feel hyped! Good job. There's always more for next time.
Yes! Thank you :). I cant wait to try again!
I'm jealous. April manages to somehow stay graceful even when she's crashing.
And... I had it wrong all these years! I always initiated with the brake and didn't push with my hind leg. No wonder I never got past 90 deg.
Yeah, my first tries I did everything wrong haha -April
That was a good bail she did.
I first rode a mtn bike in 1985 and have had plenty of hospital visits which help me to understand my skills are not [yet] developed to the required level. Sometimes fitness can fill in the gaps but now I have the time to work along with you to increase my skill level. Please keep making your videos. Kyle, your patience and skill breakdown is helping ALL of us. April, you are the voice of all of us. Say what's on your mind (we are all thinking it anyways...). Many of us are putting away our road bikes for the year in favour of mtn and fatbikes so we have a real current need of your help. Teach on! We will watch, practice, & learn (& avoid hospital visits). Tomorrow, I try the endo turn! [...well, in a grassy field first, any more hospital visits and I'll be issued a frequent flyer card].
Thanks for the kind comments to both of us Jeffrey and good luck practicing!
April was sooooooooo determined to conquer this new skill. I think this deserves a follow-up video after she gets more practice. Love hearing Kyle's descriptions of things to do and April's input on the things that are helping her progress. Always interesting!
And this is coming from a 72 year old hack that went from on-road to off-road racing back in the early eighties; but, still having nowhere near the skills that April has learned and displayed over the past few months. But, I never had a mentor like Kyle. Keep it up you two!
Thanks Bill! It helps a ton having Kyle coach me through everything. I don’t like giving up, so hopefully we can post a video of me getting it one day!
@@AprilRideMTB And I have total faith that you will...
i really like how you show the "number of attempts" on these videos; it really helps put things in perspective
Yeah, it is usually a long day of trying to learn skills like this with as much progress as possible (in one day) and usually a day of recovery after!
I never even thought about pushing the bike with my back foot, I always thought it was just momentum from the initial swing/pop. Thanks for illustrating it for us April! 👍🏻
Glad you learned something 😊
Bro you are king of explanation. You make videos little bit long but it's worth it. Keep making these videos
Thank you so much 😀
I love how Kyle is like “I’m gonna do one to show you”
He executes it flawlessly and is like “soo..” in the most humble way
Now I understand why I can make it just clockwise, THE VIDEO I was waiting for!
Glad we could help!!
April is a very determined person. Another great job! Kyle you are a patient and supportive teacher.
Thank you so much Paul!!
One of my favourite things about these tutorials is the real emotion that you don’t edit out, you can see and hear the mental battle April goes through, we see far to many video “tutorials” that are all finished product. Thank you April for your persistence and Kyle for being patient. You guys are helping me progress 🫡
Glad to hear, thank you!
Thanks for showing crashes. Keep it real!
Yeah of course! We try to include any of them that happen :)
This guy is my kind of rock star. Wow his work paid off.
Glad you like the video!
All of these videos are great stuff and very welcome. Watching someone struggle to learn a skill helps us who also have to struggle. Thankyou for your wonderful analysis of each skill. You are a great teacher.
Glad you like them! Thanks Tom!
Oh my guys here.O watched the stoppies and endos like 10 times
You guys are so awesome working it together. Great job!!
Thank you so much G!
April's progress is so inspiring! I love watching her challenge herself and grow and succeed! I'd love to know how she's doing now with her endo turns, almost a year later. I also had to smile when Kyle said "it makes me feel sad inside" at the end. I also feel sad inside when I see my husband crash :)
I wish I could give you an update, but I haven't put in another day of endo turns. I have been focusing mainly on wheelies and am more determined with that.
@@AprilRideMTB Nice job! Can't wait to see your progress on those :)
I found this channel through the @b1ker podcast recently. I watched this video this morning and was able to digest this information and make this happen in my front yard. I don’t have it dialed by any means, but the fact that I was able put these pieces together in just a few tries tells me I’m on the right track. Thanks!
Thats so cool! We love the B1ker channel! Glad the video was helpful!
I love you guys!! Former BMXer here trying to geet back on the trails after several years!
That's awesome, welcome back to the trails!
This is fantastic! Thanks for making these, & special thanks to April for being a trooper.
Thank you Dale!
I come to these videos to see April smile! Such a great chemistry between you two! Great content! Keep it up!
One of the best instructional videos for an endo turn. Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Even "defeated" April is all smiles. I appreciate the positivity from you both and all the great videos! You two rock! Hope you heal up soon, Kyle 😀
It's never about perfection.
It's ALL about progression!
April met her goal which made this a perfect video. And it's finally come to light why your tutorials are so effectual - you reveal errors that can be learned from... can hardly say that for other how-to MtB videos. Thank you for another grand delivery!
I've always wanted to do this trick. Alot of good info in the vid, can't wait to try it again. It all makes sense the way you demonstrated it. Great job guys.
@@frankruff4445 Hey Frank. Great comment! Kyle and April may not see it though since it's embedded in my message so you might want to repost in the main comment thread. Happy trails!
Thank you so much Nhung :) We are so glad these videos are able to help people
Why weren't you guys ( and CZcams) around 40 years ago. I'm 60 now and I just cannot learn these tricks anymore although I do try, April's determination is contagious. Fantastic video as always,
Haha thanks Fausto :)
OMG!!! After I watched your wheelie video, I have been waiting for an endo turn video. Thx so much!
Hope you like it! Thanks for watching :)
Another great video guys. Its nice to see somebody learn these things from scratch. Aprils sitting on the floor look of 'I've had enough now', is one we've all suffered. My remedy is usually beer + icecream.
That is a great remedy!
This yt channel it's way tooooo under-rated
Haha thank you :)
April is fearless!!!! Great instruction
Thank you Debbie! 😊
Just started mountain biking and these videos are so informative and great thanks for all you guys do
The OTB style was on point. Good video guys. 135 degrees is better than me lol.
Haha thanks Patrick!! Can’t wait to eventually film with you!
I’m so bad at these! Just what I needed
Hope it helps you out!! Let us know what you think!
I like the way you broke it down. If it was easy everyone would be doing it, these skills are what separate riders from great riders. April you have so much patience and can see your determination. Makes us want to get out on our bikes and practice till we get it right.
Thanks
Thanks David!
I did that for the first time a week ago following a really smooth rider, kind of an accident, we hopped the front wheel over a small log and needed to turn, he did it perfect and the little bump from the log and seeing him do it gave me just enough lift and confidence to make it as well. I was stoked, lol, can't wait for it to stop raining and try again!
Haha that's awesome, hopefully you can pull it off again!
Definitely seeing all the falling was great. Once you can fall off with no fear there is nothing you can't learn. Transfers across many sports. Your body learns a lot from an easy fall.
Yeah she is a trooper haha :)
This is sooo good. April was determined to get through the defeat and finishing with an Endo-135 is great!
I used to be able to do these to get around tight rocky downhill turns so I'll get out this weekend and try some again. It's been a moment since. 👍😎
Thanks :) Have fun this weekend!!
@@AprilRideMTB I will on my new Specialized Levo SL. Already have over 1,000 miles on it over this summer; but, not thinking that I can do half the bike skills that April has mastered over pretty much the same period.
They both have patience in teaching a skill and in learning a skill
great👍video
Thank you Joe!
Great job! This helped me a lot, not just the theory but the difficulty it takes to get this down.. thanks
Glad it helped! 😊
You a really good at the technical instructions and being supportive and positive. Stoked on the videos keep em coming
Thank you Cary!
This series is really great
Love you guys !
April , you are handling well ! Keep on moving !
Thank you! 😊
Congrats on another great how-to video Kyle & April. I learned a lot from you guys. Love the way you breakdown each skill and inform us of the common mistakes others do. Looking forward to more videos from you guys.
Just when I thought I was quite ok on mtb.... I had to discover your channel! Soooo much more to learn!!!
Thanks Kyle and April 👌
Awesome video guys. Takes me back 30 years to the first time I pulled this off on a switchback. Practice, practice, practice. 👌💪
Thanks! Yeah it takes so much practice!
April! You'll get it! Bravo for modeling a growth mindset! Y'all are the best!
Thank you so much Ward!
Great tutorial again guys !!
Love these videos. Thank you both!
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching :)
Great instructions. Now I know where I was going wrong when would try this move.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Another nice trick! I love the way you explain who to make this tricks, thank you very much!
really love the tutorials, really goes into depth, and gives good advice! I have been stuck on like 95 for a while so I can't wait to practice and get to 180!
best endo pivot tutorial out there !!!
These are the best MTBing instructional videos I've found, Kyle explains things so thoroughly. The derailleur maintenance video is spot on. April is a doll (with nerves of steel) they're MTBing's version of chip and Joanna Gaines. Keep it up, give us more!
Thank you so much for the kind comments! 😊
Love it how you keep it real thank you!
You are so welcome!
These are really awesome tutorials!!
April is my hero!
Thank you so much!
your channel is great dude! Always positive in many ways! Thanks!
I appreciate that!
I recently did a session learning to wheelie, it's actually really helpful just sessioning skills on your bike. Tomorrow is learning to endo 180, cheers for the tips in your video 👍
Good luck with the end 180! Wear knee pads for sure when you practice!!!
I love these videos! Excellent instruction and enthusiasm!
Thank you so much Rick!
Sending lots of Love from India ❤️ You guys look soo sweet together 🤗🌻
Thank you so much Chinmay!
April is such a good sport. Learning new tricks is hard but she really stuck with it despite a couple tumbles. She's going to be a better rider than me in no time and I've been riding 20 years!
Thanks Paul! 😊
Best endo instruction video so far, specially when someone (like me), starts from the beginnend with this move
Thanks Richard!
You’re a great teacher, thank you
You're very welcome!
You're very cool guys :-) I've been on my bike for many years but always lacked the proper tecnique for the eno turns and the bunny-hops. Since the snow has finally melted away here I startet today with my first "training session" based on your videos. I got still a long way to go but I already see some (still minor) improvements. Thanks a lot for all your cool and easy to understand videos. Just amazing!! Greetings from Switzerland :-)
That's awesome, glad you are doing some training sessions 😊
Great video! Your instructions are so detailed and easy to digest.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks. You have been extremely clear. 👍
Great to hear!
Great effort April!!!
Thank you!!
Thanks Kyle.
You and April gave me inspiration in practice.
That's so great to hear! 😊
Your videos helped me a lot than the others
Great presentation!!! I will try now.
Have fun!
Always nice to watch your videos, youre a got great skills when it comes to mtb pedagogic! Really!
Glad you think so Kenneth!
Really great and helpful video!! Keep it up and thxxxx.
Thank you! 😊
All these videos are so super useful and so well explained. Thankyou.
Glad you think so!
Best Tutorial I have ever seen
Thx soo much
Glad you liked it!
This is exactly what I’ve been trying to learn, thanks for the tips!
Happy to help!
Ive not been on a bike in 20 years and just getting back into riding. a 29er is a big change for me, these videos are really helping me feel a bit more comfortable on a big bike. Thank you - nothing wrong with building on solid basics ( these big bikes handle soo much differently than i remember my old 26 incher )
Thanks Scott, glad we can be here to help you get the hang of it again!
Thanks for the hint with the push-leg to the back thing. Something I will definitely consider when I try to learn this skill in spring. Nice Vid, helped me a lot to understand how it works. Greets from Germany.
Make sure you wear knee pads! My knee was pretty bruised from all of my attempts haha -April
Another fun / extremely informative video. The number of tips showed I had no idea how to don one. As previously mentioned it was good that you posted even though April didn’t quite achieve what she wanted at this stage. Brilliant and thanks again.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks David
Go April! You rock! And inspire me to try all of these skills!
Thank you!
You do a fantastic job of breaking it down and clearly explaining. Thank you! Great video!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!!
That tutorial rocked! Thanks you guys I’m definitely going to get better at endo 180ing after that!
Awesome!! Hope it helps!!
Found this video educational and fun. Thanks for the tips, time to get out and ride.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great job April! I don't think I could manage if someone was filming me practicing, even less so if I knew it was going out on youtube... So, mad props to April for having the courage to be a newb on camera!
Thank you! Yeah it’s nerve wracking but totally worth it!
Massive Respect for your patience and dedication. You both are a great team👍
Thank you so much Pavan :)
Really great video with many tips! I'm having trouble with endos as well, looking forward to applying some of these techniques. Thanks!
Hopefully it helps you!
You made me shout at 2:50am April😂🤣 but your doing it really well.👍👍👍
Haha thanks!!! :)
Affirm saying "I didn't really accomplish it" is heart breaking! ESPECIALLY because she did accomplish her goal - 90 degrees!
And that left arm - the thing happening is a survival reaction. She's unconsciously locking her left arm and turning the wheel back into the safe direction.
(which I learned in this video, and have not practiced myself yet!)
That unconscious reaction will always get us! Lol
You guys rock! Thanks April for trying so hard! Inspirational!
Thank you for the kind comment! It is hard to go against your subconscious to want to keep you going your original direction. Maybe I will get it with more practice 😊
@@AprilRideMTB You were getting it! you guys rock! ENJOY your videos! Would love to chat with you guys about overcoming the subconscious and flow as well! (not flow trails, flow states and how they help with training and performance)
I attempted the “looking back” thing, which I never considered and it really noticeably improved my endo turns!
Thats awesome!
You are a great coach, thank you and appreciate very much for the effort that you are putting to teach others to have fun with their MTBs...
I appreciate that! Thank you so much!!
Im going to learn this. This is so cool man, keep up ur good work and stay safe🙂
Thanks Ryan!
I have been doing that backwards for so long, and that helped me so much.
Thats awesome to hear! Thanks for watching!
Loved your Determination April, I feel that your drive to succeed has possibly been the most important part of this video. That is the one skill that many Beginners look for in these coaching videos and seldom see. You guys rock!
Thanks so much Denzil!
Well done and impressive bail April!
Thanks!
Excellent coaching, Kyle! I like how you notice & tell specific points where April could do differently and how you ask her to reflect what helped her most make progress. Also I find it useful how you break these tricks in to parts, in more detailed way than most CZcams how to videos. I believe this video helps me with my endo turn. April’s positive attitude, commitment and desire to learn is very inspiring! Keep these videos coming!
Thanks Ville!
Just learned to do this a few weeks ago, awesome to see how you do it so I can make changes to improve, thanks!
Sweet! Yeah let us know what you think!!
The looking where you came from, carve and preload aspects of your process are where I was failing, can't wait to try again!
Hope it helps! Good Luck Jason!
This is an amazing tutorial, I've been practicing for months and never thought to carve into it. thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
