This gives plenty of space for different dog breeds to develop and there are certainly plenty.
Each breed was uniquely created to survive in the harsh Russian climate and they all serve various purposes. In this Video we have listed 10 Insane Russian Dog Breeds. We hope you enjoyed it 🙏

@Brandon Perry definitely not an anatolian, even if it were a kangal the muzzle is too long, the front paw is doctored and the "muscle tone" in the thigh wouldn't be visible through the heavy coat... sorry, I'm in Vet school and we just did breed recognition last term.... the pic is edited

Laika is still really popular in Russia. My grandparents live in the countryside next to the forest so it is natural to go hunting. Almost every household has a dog and most of them are laikas. Of course, there are some volkodavs and samoyeds, but mostly - laikas.

Laika is still used a lot for hunting in Latvia, they're very good according to my Latvian friend.
Where is Russian Wolfdog, that is mother Russia's most intense breed.look it up. Very hard to get.

@@rewind12354 Yes I’m considering on having one as my next baby! Lol My last was a Teacup Yorkie. She died of natural causes and was old but her death was extremely shocking and so sudden. She had breathing difficulties but i never would have expected that I would lose my baby that particular night. That’s what hurts the most cuz I couldn’t save her in time. This time, I don’t want such a tiny delicate dog. Hadley was so tiny like below 3lbs adult size. So now i want a big ol huge baby and the Ovcharka fits my bill! Fell in love with it the first day i saw one. 😊

It's a central asian shepherd
The polar bear looking one is called a Central Asian ovcharka ( there’s multiple “ breeds” under the umbrella but usually their grouped all under this term) the other on the right is most likely a russo- european laika or a Karelian Bear dog

Siberian Husky is a very good dog. Very protective of his family, smart yet hard headed. Sheds heavily, fast dog they can really move and never get tired. Mine liked to dig holes and I mean dig until you only saw his tail wagging..He is missed a true friend.

You forgot about Volkosob the Russian military wolf dog. The one that the military use to guard the borders and airport. I have seen the video here on CZcams its the fastest sniffing dog and have very great stamina and agility.

@Brandon Perry they belong to a group "Molosser" just like mastiffs, terriers, hounds etc. And Alabai is a natural breed selection rather than mixing other breeds. Its a pure original breed dating several thousand years back.😊

Not the bottom of the listed breeds in the video are not Russians, they are all stolen, impudently appropriated or renamed .. instead of being silent, you expanded the list and added the Georgian breed "nagazi" to which they impudently took out of Georgia changed the name and assigned like other breeds

You forgot the Volkasolb! Or Russian wolfdog! Serves as border patrol dogs. They are a cross between a Caspian wolf and the German Shepherd dog.

That's unusual. Usually Huskies are very bad guard dogs, as they are nomad dogs who don't protect territory and like all humans, while being too stubborn and independent to really care about guarding things.

Caucasians are arguably one of the greatest for sure !
The Alabai is from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the Caucasian Ovcharka is from Georgia.

It's very rare to see any Russian breeds outside of huskies. It's a shame really. Borzoi have been my favourite dog for years (I own 4 at the moment)and they really are like fluffy greyhounds. Eat, sleep, mad 10 minutes of energy. Repeat.

I have a Caucasian Shepherd so I'm particularly partial to the Watchdog.
I have one two but I prefer the Ovcharka size to the watchdog.
@@WOLFLEDGEN The Ovcharka version is a tad smaller overall but not much but we're you cautioned about them also? Everything I read and was told before I got mine was..... they're dangerous, they're too independent and aggressive, they get too big. Only the last part has been true, as he sits he's 178 pounds. Of course I got him as soon as he weaned and socialized him well. He has a great disposition and has never been a problem other than a huge appetite. By the way a feed him a Dinovite style diet and at 2 he's a healthy clumsy horse.

Esquire Caucasian shepherds by Stacey Kubyn sells them here in the states. I used to have a female (not from Stacey's kennel) she was the smartest dog I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. She was a big lovable teddy bear. She used to go down the road and tease my mother in laws vicious idiot dog from outside the electric fence. Loved that dog.

Historically it was developed in Caucasus, not only in Georgia, but in other states in Caucasus region, including regions in the south of Russia.. Breeding started in USSR in several Caucasus regions, and the the breed was recognized by FCI in 1980th..

I had 2 Laikas.
First one was a half Laika and half Chau Chau. Smart, fully beautifully black and faithful.
Never run away and would be near someone all the time.
God i miss that boi, he died 14 yr old from parasite.
Second one was a pure Laika.
He was also smart, cheeky and quite lovable. But from what i understood my garden, which has 8 big trees in it with quite a distance between them (dont remember the foot(cm) vise)),
was small for him.
He ran away 2 years ago in winter and sprinted without stopping even for a second for a while. After a couple kilometres i lost him and couldn't find him. I think someone just took him in.
I've heard of the Sulimov dog. I thought they were interesting! And Laikas are beautiful dogs! The Bolonka is super cuteeeee doh!! (ᗒᗩᗕ)

@@Heatherdani100 it is not Kangal, it is Alabai or Central asian sheperd dog. Kangal is not so heavy coated and rarely in white coat. Slightly different head too.
