  • Imagine you are cheerfully walking home one day with your newly bought dog. Imagine you meet a passerby, and he points out that you just got an illegal dog breed. Now you are all regrets inside, wishing you had gone to a prestigious shop rather than going to that rundown pet store that has seen better days. So for your future reference, here’s a list of top 20 banned dog breeds in the world.
    1. PitBull Terrier
Originating in England, the PitBull Terrier weighs about 20 to 30 kilograms and has a medium height. This dog has a beast-like appearance, with a muscular body and sharp rows of teeth. The Pitbull Terrier was used in blood sports like bull and bear baiting where packs of dogs were set against larger animals in a pit. Many of these sports were made illegal back in 1835. In 1991, the UK government banned both the breeding and ownership of this dog. This was due to the fact that from 1981 until 1991 there were reports of numerous attacks, often unprovoked, on humans by Pitbull Terriers. Pitbulll is banned in many countries like Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden and some parts of usa and Canada.
    2. Akita Inu
Akita Inu, as the name suggests, was originally bred in Japan to guard royals and hunt bears. Akita Inus are large and powerful dogs that are known to possess “uncertain” temperaments. They love to go on walks and are affectionate and well behaved, if trained well. However, without the proper training, an Akita Inu can cause immense harm. That is why, it is banned in several regions and countries. Akita Inu is banned in Bermuda Islands and Singapore and have restrictions in Spain, Ireland, USA and Ukraine.
    3. Boerboels
Now this is a dog that can definitely bite! Bred in South Africa, the Boerboels is a large mastiff type of dog breed. The breed was originally bred for the purpose of guarding the homestead and working the farm. The Boerboel weighs a staggering 65 to 90 kg and has an average height of 70 cm. Boerboels have latent fighting instincts which makes it very easy to convert them into fighting dogs. Unfortunately, there have been numerous reports of cases where this dog attacked its owner and other animals. It is best to handle and train the Boerboel with caution. Dog breeds has a banned in France, Qatar, Malaysia, Switzerland and Mauritius. Restriction in Tunisia, Denmark, Singapore, Romania And Faroe islands
    4. Wolfdog
Ever wanted to own a wolf as a pet? Well, you can’t! But that’s not to say it’s impossible to own a hybrid. The wolfdog is a canine that is produced by the mating of a domestic dog and a wolf. The wolfdog appears similar to a wolf and possesses evolutionary traits similar to a dog. Wolfdogs are more docile but not as aggressive or as dangerous as pure wolves. Wolfdogs need to be trained and handled with caution at all times. Wolfdog is banned in Finland and Norway. It is also restricted in many cities in USA.
    18. Neopolitan Mastiff
The Neapolitan Mastiff or Mastino Napoletano is an Italian breed of large dogs. The Neopolitan Mastiff is a descendant of traditional guard dogs of Central Italy. Weighing at a freighting 60 to 80 kg with a height of 60 to 83 cm, this dog can truly seem like a giant. Although many people do not consider Neapolitan Mastiffs to be dangerous creatures, they are illegal in Singapore. In Romania, your Neopolitan Mastif needs to undergo a psychological evaluation before you can keep it as a pet. Neopolitan Mastiff is banned in Bermuda island, malaysia, qatar and singapore.
    20. German Shepherd
And last but certainly not least, the German shepherd. German shepherd is a breed of medium to large sized working dogs that originated in Germany. It weighs about 30 to 40 kg and has a height of 60 to 65 cm. On paper these dogs seem amazingly docile; however, German Shepherds are considered a dangerous dog breed. Ukrainian laws forbid owning German shepherds due to their large size and aggressive nature. Similarly, they are banned in Belarus. So that next time you think of buying a German shepherd, make sure you run all the checks. This dangerous dog is banned in Ukraine, Bermuda, Belarus and the Maldives and also restricted in Ireland, UAE, Romania, Malaysia, Singapore, Iceland.
Which is the most dangerous dog? Do you know a dog that needs to be banned in other countries? Let us know in the comments.

The only dog that needs to be band from anywhere in the world, isn't the dog itself, but the owner. No dogs will cause you harm if they have a good owner. I've had 3 out of the dogs you mentioned and all 3 were friendly giants. Now I have 2 wolves and they are so friendly and well tamed.

No doubt you are a good dog-owner.... but it's tempting to point a finger at the owners and blame them for all aggrression in dogs.
The fact is that certain breeds dogs are NOT stuffed animals, they are NOT robots that you control.... they are UNPREDICTABLE animals with a mind of their own. They are mostly gentle and docile, they can defend you from aggressors..... but they can also attack you for no reason you can think of. (The same can also be said of humans who suddenly turn rampant and stab or gun down other humans)
If these dogs are banned in so many countries, it's for a good reason.
A good friend of mine was badly bitten in the cheek by a "friendly, docile" poodle - a fluffly little POODLE !!! - even though my friend was a dog-lover and knew how to approach dogs.
Unfortunately for her, the poodle just wasn't in the mood for petting and friendliness: she bit my friend so viciously that she had to go to hospital and have surgery.
So the myth about "no dogs will cause you harm if they have a good owner" just isn't true... there have been too many deaths round the world due to the unpredictable nature of dogs.
Reminds of certains kids who misbehave terribly at school but are apparently "angels" at home.

I've had 3 German Shepards and two boerboels ( a pair of each at the same time, purebred ), both breeds were awesome guard dogs and sociable with people and children that were visiting over a few days in our company, never encountered any negative behavior from either breed. They are extremely protective and loyal to their owners (but that's my personal opinion from my experience ).

I guess that's that was the wolf pack mentality showing. When I was a kid I attended a new years eve party with my mother in this big house where there were lots of people and a wolf dog running around. A friend near my age and I were play wrestling in the evening and that dog was nearby. My friend had wrestled me to the ground and when the wolf dog saw that he started acting aggressively towards me as if he wanted to "join in the hunt" or something. Thankfully the owner was around and calmed the situation down and nothing happened, but it's kind of a weird memory.

I adopted a Wolfdog years back. He was all black, 110 lbs. Very tall and long. He was the best animal I've ever owned. Being a True Wolfdog he was the most friendly, sweetest, Wolfdog you'd ever want to meet. I had him Embark. Yes he was a true Wolfdog. He also had Czekaslavakian Vicak in him. Ancient DNA and mixed with a few more such as Black German Shepherd Dog. Never ever had he become vicious. We brought another rescue in that was a Full blooded German Shepherd Dog. They got along perfectly. Neither one ever became aggressive ,ever. Sadly I lost my Wolfdog at 9 years old June 17,2023. He had just turned 9 on May 17,2023. We shared the same birthdays. His name was Max. I'm in tears just talking about him. He is missed by everyone who was blessed to have met him. His sister Shiloh hasn't been the same since. She sticks to me like glue. I own an American Staffordshire Terrier. He’s the sweetest most gentle dog I’ve ever had. He loves children and people. He’s also saved my life twice. Staffordshire Terriers are not aggressive, in responsible owners that abuse their dogs make them that way.
My Staffie is 11 yrs old. Yes, all dogs should be properly trained and socialized as well.
Remember that inbreeding can also cause problematic dogs.
There are also many other factors involved as to why some breeds are more aggressive than others.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion depending on their own personal experience.

Also, the info on Shepherds is incorrect for at least the Netherlands: They are not banned/illegal or restricted there as the video states. Yes, they are popular as protection/attack/military dogs but that is in large part due to their trainability - any dogs can be taught to bite and be mean, but a GSD is quite unique in how loyal and intelligent they are.

He has been around adults, teens, kids, and many other animals and feels his main duty is to make sure everyone is safe, okay, and where they’re supposed to be. He is more curious than anything and studies small animals instead of trying to kill them.

❤ large dogs! I had 2 German shepherds. One was said to be mixed with a wolf. First one was docile and the other one very protective of me, especially with unknown guys. He slept with me and put his head on my shoulder and licked my tears. He was my best friend. I got married and my husband was very afraid. That was in 1969 and I still cry and miss him. Not sure if I made the right choice.. my loving dog or my husband! Should have chose the dog. I was moving to Michigan after getting married and couldn't take him. My daughter had an American bulldog and she was loving too. My brother had dobies that never bit. Yes you have to train them but they weren't aggressive. It's the small breeds that bit me because they have a Napoleonic complex. Love and miss them all. Now I am going to 😭

My husband was threatened the other day by a guy with a knife, my German shepherd was off leash as he was in his own yard, my husband then gave the "attack word" and my German shepherd attacked the guy. Who had ended up in hospital and we had then phoned the police, we were in the right as we had board's up on our gates which is law if you have a dog that has done protection work. so no it's not cruel!! but yes there are people that don't train there dogs properly, so please take the time to know the difference between protection training and cruel.

The answer to that is "very badly". What you see in the video is animal cruelty and, for large parts, illegal. Most of the dogs mentioned in the video are not naturally all that aggressive, they just aren't pets for lazy or cruel owners. If you treat them right and train them well from a young age, you have nothing to fear. If you train a living being to attack, it's going to attack, whether it's a dog or a human.

For most dog breeds, it comes down to how you raise the puppy as to how it will behave as a grown dog. I'm sure there's a Vet book on breeds with dangerous psychological genetic traits that just couldn't be bred out. That's why it's better to know the breeder and history of a dog's genetic line if your target for a pet is specific. Otherwise, a Heinz 57 dog or junkyard dog make for wonderful all around pets.

Any dog can be aggressive if provoked and as someone who has had dogs in the family and seen many dogs of many breeds up close and personal I would have to say that the breed of the dog simply does not matter a damn, it is how you raise and train a dog that matters. Honestly I have seen far more overt aggression from many of the smaller breeds than the larger ones. Chihuahua's for example IMO tend to be extremely hostile and aggressive towards basically anything and everything that isn't their owner or close family member.

I have rescued 5 german shepherds over the years all of them were great to train and are highly intelligent they will if you show your leadership in a good way by training them to be sociable, gentle with soft toys,do all your commands ,praise is essential, take them to areas where they learn how vhildren play including screams from them,to viuntry walks past farming animals, all the places where they learn to live with the world by how you react in this training its the key to their confidence , they definately take their lead from you ,so if your a responsible owner who gives time patience kindness lots of love you will have a great dog in your hands and a joy for others to get to know, they will guard you if they sense your upset afraid etc,but if your calm your energy passes to them in the face of anything that may seem threatening ,in all a great breed ,a family dog ,and great companion, great with children as all pet dogs in the the hands of a responsible loving owner of the german shepherd dog or in truth any dog

CZcams must maintain some level of responsibility for this kind of material. This is an appalling display of animal cruelty. Note that none of these animals have been desexed, so breeding is obviously rampant. No doubt much of the filming is old now, and some of it definitely illegal, even at the time. One can only pity the lives and reputations of the darker skinned humans appearing in the more confronting clips - yeah, show people from these countries with impunity because you can get away with it. Cunning use of pretty white gals for the rest also does not hide the fact that human underprivilege comes in all shapes and sizes. As for the chirpy commentator - I hope you are ashamed. I am by no means an animal hugger, but there are limits, and it is sickening to realise that many people will get some kind of a thrill out of this sort of thing. Viva democracy and freedom of expression, hand down the pants on the end of a choke chain to you all.

Unfortunately, here where I live, a pit bull (and similar dogs) is seen as a prestigious acquisition. Some young men (mostly) see it as a status symbol. Our law enforcement and animal welfare have a constant struggle trying to close down dog fighting rings and back yard breeding. These dogs have all been specifically bred for a certain look or temperament. The violent methods used on some of these dogs are appalling. The vicious side to them is inculcated at a very young age so they become aggressive through fear. Fear is passed down to the next generation. I can see why some are banned in certain countries. I wish for peace and a loving home for all animals.

The only breed that was muzzled automatically when visiting the animal hospital I worked at was the Chow. The hospital was the county's place to put animals that were on rabies watch. The lab owner was a junk man and he used him as a guard dog to keep people away. Well one day the Tosa got out ... it didn't take much he just leaned on the fence and it went down. The Lab and the Tosa got into it and he destroyed the Lab. Since our backyards were connected I never went out only to reinforce the fence. Although they kept the dogs chained they were still an issue... I was glad when they finally moved.
