Cob loaf rules, few beers at a mates bbq and then his wife brings out the cob loaf, that’s living! Life doesn’t get much better than that.. you’ve gotta try it
The asparagus one is the go🇦🇺🇺🇸⚡
My mate Chop does an awesome Cobb loaf
Ian...did you say 'Servo'??? Nice!
Noice 😅
Yep!! Let’s adopt him
Ian pretty much has a master's degree in Australia by now man
Oh yes, he did. Said it so fluent, just rolled off the tongue 😂😂
I love how Ian says *Austraya* too. We've trained him well!
In South Australia our “Farmers Union Iced Coffee” outsells coke every year, it’s the most popular drink every year, I don’t drink coffee but love Farmers Union Iced Coffee ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Farmers Union is the best Iced coffee... also Coopers beer is the best beer. you south Aussies got some good shit, cheers from W.A 😊
@@ReinventingTheSteve don't forget some Violet Crumble. Shout out to other South Aussies in the house (i'm in Mt Gambier).
Farmers union iced coffee is the best
Only 2 places in world where some form of cola isn't the highest selling drink - South Australia with FUIC and Scotland with Irn Bru
FUICs and FruChocs ❤
I love how Ian is more interested in the houses than the kangaroo hopping down the street.
That kangaroo like "wtf this was farm land last year this new estates are taking over everrything"
11:39 I went into a restaurant in Brisbane a few years ago and I said "What's on the menu?" She said "Food" I said sounds good I will have some of that. I am from from North Queensland and from her accent she was a Kiwi. Good laugh.
She's a bloody trooper for taking lactate pills just to slam down a double espresso Dare... 🎉
one of if not the best flavour IMO
That's what I do haha
They have lactose free in dare.
So the US doesn't do cob loaf? That's a standard at a bring a plate lunch over here in rural Queensland.
The US in general don't eat a lot of artisan bread. Mostly just sliced sandwich bread.
americans dosnt even have real bread, how should they know that
Absolutely I'm hungry now lol
cob loaf is the bomb.
Just casually drops "Servo" - Love it!
Toowoomba is a long way from the coast so Toowoomba Salmon is a joke
That's what I thought but did a search and there are actually a number of salmon farms in the area. I agree with you though. Dad always told me never to eat seafood if you couldn't see the sea - not totally applicable these days.
Toowoomba Salmon ? Could that be carp ?😉🇦🇺
Perhaps from Drayton Harbour😅
@IWrocker, Tim Tams now come in Gluten Free as well as the normal Tim Tams. I sometimes use the dregs of the Barbeque Shapes on my chicken pieces.
Farmers Union Iced Coffee in South Australia is sooo addictive that I avoid it. I have had friends so dependent on Farmers Union Iced Coffee that they have been found lying in gutters semi-conscious, like beached whales, (Farmers Union Iced Coffee is full of sugar), that the road to recovery is a long and slow process. Treatment requires a lengthy regime of kale smoothies and carrot juice. Not a pretty sight.
Ian, as an Aussie who has been to the States a couple of times (and been to the Outback Steakhouse), I have to tell you about our "American Themed" restaurant called Lone Star Steakhouse. You guessed it, basically the same menu (without the bloomin onion) but it's Texan themed instead. Check it out!
Is there some still left? Terrible when I moved here from NZ. The NZ version was great au one wasnt
Oh yeah au version was reminlient of Dennys
I thought all the Aus ones closed they weren't great, seems like they have lots opening now after rebranding Lone star Rib house and brews @@avanap8096
@@avanap8096 it changed to much over time. when it first opened i lived near one. peanuts in a small bucket and throw the kernals on the floor and the staff would square dance, the chips where yummy and the steak delicous but over time they sorta just gave up and it just ended up a steak eatery without the charm it had before.
You mean the shells really don't you?@@gregorturner9421
Cob loaves are an old party/entertaining staple in Aus. There's endless filling options. If you ever feel like making. Heres just two ideas.
Mexican inspired cob
Toppings (optional)
Sour cream
Guacamole
Tasty cheese
Lime
Coriander
Corn chips
Cucumber and capsicum sticks
Salsa
2 large tomatoes
Bunch coriander
1 red onion
1 red capsicum
Filling
250g beef mince
1 brown onion finely diced
1tsp smoked paprika
1stp garlic powder
1 tin black beans
Step 1
To prepare your cob, start by slicing the lid off carefully. Once removed, pull out the filling of the cob so that there is plenty of room inside to add all of the meat and bean mixture. Set aside
Step 2
To make the salsa, dice the fresh ingredients and combine in a bowl with salt and lime juice to taste
Step 3
Heat 1tbs oil in a pan and add diced onion. Stir until translucent and then add the ground beef
Step 4
Once the beef has browned add the garlic powder, smoked paprika and the tin of drained and rinsed beans. Stir gently for 5-10 minutes or until all the meat is cooked through and the beans are warm
Step 5
Spoon the mince mixture into the cob and add grated cheese while the mince is still hot. Add the salsa and toppings to taste
Step 6
Optional: Lightly brush the discarded cob filling with butter and toast under grill until crisp!
Cheesy bacon cob.
1 cob loaf
4 bacon rashers, finely chopped
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp olive oil
1 brown onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
250g cream cheese, softened
300ml thickened cream
1 tsp Dijon mustard
2 spring onions, thinly sliced
1 1/2 cups (180g) coarsely grated tasty cheddar
Chopped flat-leaf parsley, to serve
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Step 2
Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add bacon and paprika and cook, stirring, for 5 mins until bacon is crisp and brown. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
Step 3
Heat oil in the pan over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring, for 3 mins or until onion softens. Stir in two-thirds of the bacon. Remove from heat.
Step 4
Place the cream cheese, cream and mustard in a large bowl and stir until almost smooth (there will be some lumps). Add the onion mixture, half the spring onion and 11/4 cups (150g) of the cheddar and fold until combined.
Step 5
Use a serrated knife to cut 4cm from the top of the loaf. Remove the bread from the centre of the loaf, leaving a 2cm-thick shell. Tear the bread centre and lid into 3cm pieces. Spoon the cream cheese mixture into the bread shell. Top with remaining cheddar. Place on the prepared tray and arrange the bread pieces around the loaf. Bake for 20 mins or until golden.
Step 6
Sprinkle with the reserved bacon, remaining spring onion and parsley to serve.
Coffee is one thing.. but us Australians.. and in particular in SA, we LOVE a good Iced Coffee. Farmers Union Iced coffee . The only reason she'd like Dare so much is if she never visited SA for a FUIC.
Yep!!
And the only reason anyone drink anything but NORCO FM is because they have not tried it 🇦🇺🇺🇸⚡
When I have to travel places where they don't have FUIC I take a bottle of Bickford's Coffee Essence with Chickory... which is syrup that Farmers' Union uses.
Dare coffee, is Cold coffee mix with milk, what we call iced coffee, and most of us LOVE it. We have like 10 different brands of them. A tradie's lunch could easily be a Sausage Roll and a Dare Iced Coffee. Most common dumped by the side of the road is a Dare Iced Coffee bottle, or a coca cola bottle.
I am Aussie but had a kangaroo burger for the first time not long ago and it was really tasty! Even cooking just in a non-stick pan it got a nice char-grill flavour to it. I had it with salad and beetroot, of course, and a bit of horseradish cream. **drool**
skippy .... noooooooooooo!
I recommend trying kangaroo on an alternating shish kebab and kangaroo that has been cooked in a hot smoker. Mouth wateringly good.
Dare Double Espresso is bluddi triffic, even though it's pre-packed.I have one twice a week from expeditions to Aldi. 750ml $3-99. Frozen Coke & most frozen drinks are great on a stinking hot (38° & up)day. Maccas isn't as good as Hungrys (Jacks!).
Apparently here in SA iced coffee outsells coke. That roo must be an American, he was on the wrong side of the road
We got farmers union iced coffee in WA for a while, but it's disappeared from the shelves, it was the best. My grandparents lived in Salisbury but I don't think they did karate
AI -> @@davidburnett93
I mean I would definitely buy an iced coffee over coke any day of the week!! Dare Espresso 🤤
@@davidburnett93I think no one else uses real sugar, my main peeve with other brands is the damn artificial flavour... I’m drinking coffee if I want sugar free give me no sweetener
Toowoomba Salmon!! Toowoomba is a Queensland city that is located many miles from the coast, virtually on top of the Great Dividing Range and is seen as the gateway to the inland area of the Darling Downs. The last Salmon to grew up in the Toowoomba area had probably died around the time that Australia split off from Antarctica and the rest of Pangea, then started moving North.
One would have a better chance of getting real Tahoe Lobster from the menu as ordering real Toowoomba Salmon.
8:29 Cob loaf is really good. You can't stop eating once you start. Get the recipe and try it.
Hi Ian you should ask Danni to make you and the kids the cobb loaf it's so good quick and easy I'm sure it will be in one of her Aussie recipe books it's just a cobb loaf or large bread , cream cheese , grated cheddar cheese, cream , powdered french onion soup mix ,spring onions , bacon pairs well with VB or XXXX 😊 .
I use sour cream instead of cream cheese and cream, I also don't use the French onion soup mix but always lots of bacon and garlic though I've had a few with your recipe and they were delicious too.
An even more Aussie version I've tried from the local Aboriginal centre was a wattle seed damper cob loaf, so good after a mouthful of oily, fishy mutton bird lol.
I use sour cream in place of cream. I do mine in the airfryer.
To *Die for!*
The roo was going down to the pub to pick up a six pack for the BBQ later.
"That Kangaroo is hopping right down the street." Well, yeah. He had his licence taken off him.
The independent Cafe or truck stop/ servo burgers are way better than any food chain burger.
Wagyu is just fatty meat.
Shrimp and prawns are different
that little lizzard was just a blue tongue skink, they are harmeless and they make pretty good pets
There is nothing better than a drippy homemade burger, yum!
he forgot the beetroot .... remember, nothin beets a root 😁
@13:09 Even the tapeworms are big in OZ!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We have Outback Steakhouse in Australia just so you're aware. Only in QLD and NSW though.
nah we got some in west Aus too mate
sorry i just checked... we have "outback jacks"
Hi Ian, I was in the US back in 2004 with some friends. We went to an Outback Steakhouse to check it out, and were flabbergasted at what they thought Australia was like. I asked if they had Aussie beers and they said “Yes”, so I asked for a VB, they no idea what it was. “Oh, we just have Fosters”, well, we laughed and told them Aussies don’t drink that, we just export it.
You're pretty much an Aussie now . Hello to the family too please.the lizard was a Blue tongue . Short fat sausage roll pretty much . 😅
Every now and then my daughter and I will convince the boss lady to make that spinach cheese and bacon Cob Loaf and we will smash it for lunch. Not health but man is it gooooood
The last one (Pepper Lunch) is the one where you get served a really hot skillet in the shape of a plate and the meat/steak is still cooking when it is being served. You do need to try it.
Tomato sauce on ice cream And watermelon on pizza are definitely the favourite food of…
Drop bears. 🐨🐨🐨
That bread food reminds me of a fondue. It surely looks delicious. And it looks easy to cook.
When I studied in Canberra (2005), roo steaks, mince, sausages, roasts are all available Wollies. But surprisingly, most Aussies I met had never tried it. So sure, they're available, but surprisingly not common in Aussie households. I loved em'.
But yea, roo's hopping around the residential area was normal in Canberra. They usually hangout & move as a pack.
@JayKughan I love my 'roo burgers and steaks.
@@warrenbridges1891 Heck yea, buddy! :D
Avocado, Cheese & Vegemite on toast is the best thing ever YUMMY 😊
Gordons burger had way too much butter used whilst cooking , that's why it was dripping so much
It literally has a soft cooked egg
No mate, the dripping was egg yolk and its delicious.
Edit- try a breakfast muffin with runny egg, mate.
He's a Pom , say no more 😝@@dylanzrim3635
My brother was somewhat obsessed with Cobb loaf in his late twenties, every BBQ or get together with mutual friends he would rock up with a new recipe. Man knows his way around a cobb.
"at a Servo" - omg listen to the Wrocker - luv ya work - onya lol
7:12 Zhang Liang is a chain based in China, they got into a spot of bother a little while ago for selling cheap meats masquerading as prime meats, such as their lamb contained no lamb at all, but the international franchisees are probably fine.
9:15 Wagyu burger does not make sense: the whole point of wagyu beef is the fat pattern incorporated into the meat fibres, but if you mince the meat, the marbling structure is destroyed.
Might not make sense, but tastes WAY better than just ground beef.
Wagyu mince is a big deal. It’s known for its umami flavours and soft moist texture. If you google Cross Creek Ranch Premium Meats - Why Wagyu ground beef is better- they explain all the reasons very well!
The Aussie damper bread roll... very versatile and can be utilised with so many various foods/dips etc
Do people not do baked cob loaf dips in the US? They are great for parties and spreading Covid to your mates.
I’m in Oz and have never had a cob dip
Outback Steakhouse has gone bankrupt.....
its the MSG that makes Shapes taste special
Gluten free Tim Tams and even Mint Slices are now available. Good times.
What ‘s the kangaroo doing ? About 25mph .
Just found your channel and love it, you are so understated but very entertaining, born and bred Aussie and love it
The biggest difference I have seen in our neighbourhood is we have fences. The old saying, good fences make for good neighbours
Freaky that I see Kangaroo steaks in your video when I had just bought some.
Would be an absolute blast if you went to Australia and tried it for yourself. Hope you continue to grow the channel so you can make it.
Great vid as usual. Cheers. 🍻🥰
Im shocked you guys havnt got the cob loaf. Sooo goood. You are right the asian cuisine in Australia is elite. One of my favourite to go lunch meals is called a banh mi. 👍
Maccas sells frozen coke etc, cause our summers are HOT. Make it at home, Take a plastic bottle of coke, open it and have some to make a space, put the lid back on. Put it in the freezer, my sister used to put 3 litre bottles in so her 3 kids, and 2 were boys, Hollow legs and all that, could pig out on it after school, they loved it. Other flavours work too. Do some testing?
Does the aussie cookbook you have, show you a potato bake? Sliced thin potatoes, garlic powder, small bacon batons. Cheddar cheese grated and cream. What's not to love in there. Layer it up, deep lasagne pan, pour in the cream to fill any gaps, let it sit 20 mins, or cover in fridge and cook it next day, air bubbles can be a problem, bake slow 1 hour. Put a fork in to make sure it's cooked through. Cover with foil to stop browning if it gets too dark. Serve with a very large spoon. Have it with meat, and salad, either roast, fried or bbq. If cream is not your thing, use 1 can thick canned white soup, add milk to thin it.
For lamingtons, You can use a plain cake mix, gluten free if you need that. Try freezing straight away, after making, they do get quite hard quickly, without gluten. Bake in a flat pan and make chocolate icing thin, cut squares, use 2 forks to coat in icing then dessicated cocoanut. A relative needs gluten free food, his wife puts frozen ones in his lunch.
There are gluten-free Tim Tams now. Damn it now I gotta go eat again.
You haven’t lived until you grind up a packet of Arnott shapes ( cheddar is amazing but any flavour works) and use it to crumb/bread any type of meat like beef schnitzel, sausages or lamb chops instead of using breadcrumbs.
…. Spectacular
I've had a blooming onion at outback steakhouse in Sydney Australia, they are awesome 👌🏼
Talk about kangaroos, I was very fortunate growing up, my father would have the caravan packed and ready to go every school holiday, get home from school, change and we were off on a fabulous adventure. We only stayed a National parks, when you step outside in the morning you were surrounded by kangaroos, when we went to the Wilpena Pound South Australia, I saw a HUGE big red kangaroo fighting with a dingo, the kangaroo held the Dingo it its small front paws sat back on its tail and ripped the guts out of the Dingo with it’s back feet, very confronting for a 13 year old, but most of out adventures were fabulous.
12:12 Looks a bit like what I do. You fry fish fingers then you just get a can of diced tomatoes in a bowl. Sit the fish fingers in the bowl like they are sitting around a pool. It is a top party snack.
Macca's isn't a patch on Hungry Jack's but now there's Carl's Jr who kick both off the scene.
I was playing lawn bowls today and our game was interrupted twice by kangaroos.
That kangaroo hoping down the street is from a new estate with all new houses built on new lots. That roo would of come from near bush land where it has been cleared for development. Id most likely say this video could of been taken from a western Sydney outer suburb that new.
Gordons burger.... ummm you may as well melt a pint of butter and chug it, lol
FYI _Shrimp and prawns have plenty of similarities, but they are not the same animal. Shrimps come from the northern hemisphere and prawns come from the southern hemisphere. Dolphin bodies are leaner, and porpoises’ are portly, Dolphins come from the northern hemisphere and porpoises come from the southern hemisphere.
3:18 I got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2018. I control it with diet. When you reduce carbohydrate intake you reduce you vitamin B complex vitamins. Vegemite has the vitamin B complex vitamins and has no sugar or carbohydrate. Just use different grains like rye bread or rye cruskits and you are set. Don't forget the cheese or butter , fat is flavour and life is flavour. I told the Doctor and she said I think you are onto it. I also said I was having liver bacon and onions for breakfast. She frowned , maybe she doesn't like liver. Done right it is great.
There is an outback steakhouse northside of Brisbane, haven't been yet but it used to be a Lone Star - very 'texan' themed, from what I remember
That the one in North Lakes?

I was craving a Dare Iced Coffee when I was in the US, so my friend took me to the local WAWA. Ice coffee really isn't a thing there, I found about 4 or 5 different brands, poked in together way up to the top of the fridge, away from line-of-sight, and NONE of them tasted remotely like the iced coffee we get here. Mostly, they were wishy-washy, and/or in tiny, tiny cans, not the rich, luxuriously smooth stuff we get here. To be fair, there was plenty of other, awesome foodstuffs we don't have here as well. LOVED Bob Evans breakfast steak and (white) sausage gravy! Yum. I found Vegemite and custard powder at Wegners in the International aisle, Australian section.
Honestly, the best burgers in Australia are the ones made by local shops and not franchises because everything is fresh, not massed produced out of a jar or can.
The shapes dust collecting... going to start doing that now
Frozen coke is basically just a Slurpee or Slushie
As an an Aussie, this is all new to me.
lemon Juice and pepper on top of the avo, not extra oil. lemon juice to cut through the creamyness of the avo.
If you have Caribbean jerk spice, use that instead of black pepper.
we have two coffee cultures in oz..hot coffee and the ice coffee ,people ,,farmers union ice coffee s.a is the best by far `
I am pretty much addicted to the no sugar Brownes Coffee Chill here in W.A..😅
I could eat a whole cob loaf to myself. Dude you need to try making a cob loaf.
Bloomin onions are on the Menu in Brisbane steak house. I had eaten them a few times at the Aspley store.
11:58 Australian Outback Steakhouse has Bloomin' Onion. I've never had it, but it's on the menu.
Had amazing blooming onions at Barbarinos in Melbourne.. Sadly, the company shut its doors a few decades back
I went to an outback steakhouse in Brisvegas a few years back. It wasn't bad, food was okay, service was impeccable, but it really wasn't anything to write home about.
We call the cheesy cob loaf Cheesy Borax in Australia… it’s awesome!
Cob loaf dip is number 1. So many recipes for it tho my fave has spinach added..yum. And I have had the blooming onion back in the 90s here in Oz. Still can get it sent places. Loved hearing you say servo lol. Bloody awesome weaome Ian
Now that you've acquired a taste for beetroot Ian you should try it on a sanga with Vegemite. Guarantee you've never tasted anything like it!
Really good with a nice cheddar too
A few years ago I had a Kangaroo roast I purchased at the Grocery store, It was put in a freezer bag for the trip home then straight into the fridge, later that day it was put tin the oven. That afternoon for 3 hours I thought I was dying. Sitting on the Loo and a bucket under my face. A trip in the ambulance to the hospital showed I had food poisoning. The Kangaroo meat was to blame. Now cant even look at that meat.
Best part about it is that Gordon Ramsay got to try our meat and veggies and as you could see on his face it's delicious, I know the US tends to have processed parts in nearly everything they make so if you ever visit you'll get the chance to taste 100% real meats and veges lmao
Cob loafs are sensational. There are literally dozens of different fillings. You should get Danni to google some, then do a video of her making one for you. The bacon and cheese is probably the most popular
Everyone loves a Cob Loaf! Also, we have Outback Steakhouse in Australia and they do serve Bloomin Onions.
I think the nuggets at Maccas here can be hit or miss. If they’ve been sitting out for a while it’s cold and tough, but if they are hot and fresh they are literally the BEST thing ever! 🤤
Mate if you ever go to Australia your going to need a long long list of what to have
There is an "Outback Steakhouse" in North Strathfield, Sydney, Australia. I have never tried it.
You need to remember that many of the ethnic food groups came straight from the post WW II migration. Chinese is very, very different than the home style cooking we get here. LESS oily & greasy than the USA Style & I used to feel sick after eating the USA version. Of course regional cooking styles in other countries will reflect on taste & texture.
There are gluten-free Tim Tam's so she did miss out.
The Cobb dip is awesome. You keep tearing away the bread from the Cobb and dip and eat. It's the bomb. And no clean up because you eat the bowl.
Oow, those waterfalls are where I live! Though, the one the chick was sliding down is called Josephine Falls and locals don't usually swim there without a spotter. It's super dangerous because you can't see the water that's coming from further up on the mountains. It floods very quickly and people have been trapped or even died there.
Man cob loaf is the best invention ever, that’s the stuffed bread thing…You have to try it
No, just leave the shapes intact for the boys sports match snack! The cheapo coffee at 7/11 is pretty good! Yeah always Vegemite! TimTams can be easily obsessed and eat too many! Fresh Lamingtons, yes please! Maccas Angus and bacon burger! Avocado toast is very popular for breakfast right now! Wagu burger? Fried onion meal? Biggest skies and epic sunsets, yes! More down under! 🤗👍
I hope she's made some friends here because they now make Gluten Free Tim Tams!!
We kinda do have a bloomin’ onion here, but it’s fish batter and deep fry
You should try a ned kelly pie. basically a single serve pie shell with mince to taste & a raw egg in the middle. cover with tastey cheese then bake. tastes great.
I sometimes saw a kangaroo hopping down suburban streets when I lived on the north east outskirts of Perth. There was the occasional emu walking about too.
Now I live in Wollongong and we have one of the handful of Outback Steakhouses here. It’s at a place known locally as “cholesterol corner” because of the number of fast food places located there. Apart from Outback Steakhouse there’s Maccas, Red Rooster, Hungry Jacks and Subway all five in a row, sharing a carpark and KFC is on the next corner.
Cob loaf has been a popular ‘take a plate’ dish since the 1970s, what you would call a pot luck dish I think. There are several recipes, all cheesy, creamy, savoury and delicious.
As an Australian, from what I can gather: Prawns and shrimp are two different species of crustaceans. I also don't know which one is correct for what we have here.
Have you ever done a 'tim tam slammer' though?? @IWrocker...bite a little chunk off each end of the Tim tam then suck your hot coffee through it, then put the entire biscuit in your mouth, you haven't lived until you've done this!!
5:52 The problem here at the moment is the "Beetroot shortage" very little on the shelves. Might have to grow my own. Along with the eggs and expensive pineapples that are as small as hand grenades. It is all good.
Tim Tams now come gluten free.
So I'm going 👍 I thought I saw that this Arvo.
We definitely have the Blooming Onion here. It’s the best
Oh, that poor girl from the first video! IGA stocks Leda brand gluten free Tim Tam-like biscuits that are far better than the real thing. They’re dairy and egg free too.
McDonalds also have frozen Fanta & frozen Sprite 😋
