Here's a video to show you what to do when you are finished shaving. Clean and dry off all of your shaving gear properly. Take care of your shaving equipment and it will take care of you!
Have A Great Shave, Have A Great Day!
Geo. - Jak na to + styl
When I was in the army in 68 at FT. Bragg, I got a severe facial infection. A special forces medic gave me antibiotic cream and said it was caused by not thoroughly cleaning my razor. Break it down, clean it and dry like Geo said and you will be surprised how the irritation will disappear. Amazing how much bacteria accumulates on a razor.
EXACTLY! Thanks Jack, I couldn't have said it better myself. Be well Sir!
I’ll be darned! 😮
very interesting I love "if you care of your shaving equipment, it will take care of you!" and "have a great shave, have a great day"
Very informative video. Back in the days I wouldn't have thought to take care of my razors..brushes and what not. These days being that I'm more of a wet shaving buff I've changed my ways. Thanks again Geo. Your the man.
Amazing Video as usual Geo! Thanks so much. I was unsure how to take care of my straight razor after I shave, but your video answered the question, as well as brush after care.
Thanks Sanguis!
Greatly appreciated.
Another enjoyable video Geo.
Thx for the vid man! Just started my wet shave journey lol
Geo, when you clean the scales on your straight razor, make sure the spine is facing your hand not the blade. Learned this the hard way when the razor closed on my fingers.
I watched your videos and learned a lot. Thanks.
Very good information. Since I buy vintage, I soak in anti bacterial dish soap before I shave and after I shave . I bought a razor years ago and it had dried gunk, old soap on the razor. I soaked it, squirted hydrogen peroxide on it and dried it and shaved. No problem after sanitizing it
Great vid Sir!!
I really dig your enthusiasm man. Like it's a genuine love for this stuff and that makes for better content! Thanks for the tips!
Great video and thanks for the links to the products used.
I let the razor (with the blade) sit in barbicide while i i do my aftershave routine (alumn block, rinse, aftershave, cleaning the brush and the lather bowl) then give it a rinse after running water and dry it with my blue stripe barbertowel. then i leave it disassembled for 24 hrs. i also let the shaving soap dry for 24 hrs before closing the lid (the ones that are in a tub)... might seem to be a bit nerdy, but it works for me ;-)
thank you for your great and informative videos, they are very appreciated. please keep up the good work.
Love it! A Man (or woman) with a plan! Thanks for the tips.
Good tips. I keep a microfibre cloth in the bedroom, so I rinse in the bathroom, then dump the blade in the bedroom before giving the razor a final brush (just using an old baby hairbrush) then use the microfibre cloth to dry the razor, pop the blade back and leave it ready - in the bedroom where it's dry.
Awesome explaination by mr. Geof.boy. i am indian. Ur way of advise is excellent.
Fantastic video, thank you for sharing its much appreciated
Geo I leave my razor apart or open (TTO) and let dry over night. I do wash and dry them but leave over night. Great video always walk away learning something. Keep up the videos.👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks John! Your method is great too. I'm glad you learned something from it.
Good advice Geo. *Thanks for the video.*
Thanks David!
You the man Geo!
Can I use the scrubbing brush to clean other grooming tools such as nail clippers, nose and ear hair scissors, tweezers etc. I'm asking for hygienic reasons?
Thanks again for the tips.
Can I use the same towel tha I dry my razor with to dry the brush, or should I use a separate towel?
Another awesome video. Thank you for sharing
Thanks Paul!
Could you please share where you got the cleaning brush?
Do I really need to do this every time ? I do not like taking the blade out . .
Nice bathroom set up geo..
STRONG!❤ Sei un grande
Awesome idear with the magnet Geo :) cant belive i never thought of that :D
Thanks Michael-The link to the magnet is under the video if anyone wants one.
i´d love to buy from you but shipping and import tax fram USA is simply murder, so i cant afford it... sorry...
Great video!!! Shaving puck?
Every time or like once a week?
I do this full clean of my DE razor once a week, After each shave I just loosen the DE razor so the blade is free and rinse it under hot running water an dry
Interesting. How often do you shave? I'm just taking up wet shaving and I normally only shave once every three days.
@@roanokejoe I shave every day during the week, but give it a miss on the weekends 👍
I have a mason jar half filled with rubbing alcohol. Rinse the blade under water, swirl it around the rubbing alcohol, and let it dry out on its own.
Over the top a bit but good idea into what to do.
Nice video Sir
Thanks Brandon!
All I’ve been doing with mine is wiping it all down dry with cotton cloth after each shave and my gear’s always maintained luster even after a decade of use.
what about shavettes? nice video. I saw one your vids about washing with shampoo how often should you do that?
When your brush loses its flexibility, becomes stiff-time to clean and condition it.
thanks
Why does it says "do not wipe" on blades?
Is it bad if I don't use a soft brush but a normal toothbrush that is not soft at all to clean my safety rasor?
Should be fine...
Fantastic thank you very much....
You are welcome!
@@geofatboy I think I'll be doing this once a week.... I have a merkur and a muhle razor... Which I use on different days... Thank you again... Much appreciated

Just started using shave soap and brush. Do you need to put on after shave or post shave on your face once done? Or is the soap hydrating enough?
Aftershave is preferred. I like a good balm: shavenation.com/collections/proraso
Covid made me put electric razor on hold and I've discovered a whole new area of relaxation. I choose them soaps like my GF her cosmetics and I love it.
Love the PINK shave nation bowl. I have a black and red one, need to add that PINK one to the collection, will you keep the Pink one on stock? and remember " clear the runways! "
Lol! They come in 7 different colors! A few are out of stock right now though... Still have the pinks though: goo.gl/TtpWBE
geofatboy I can stay pretty in pink!
Do you clean the safety razor with the scrubbing brushe after every shave? How often do you replace the scrubbing brush?
I don't get crazy with it, I clean my razor once a week when I remove the blade and replace it. But if you have sensitive skin or irritation, you should do it more often. When the bristles wear off the brush its time for a new one!
geofatboy Thanks. Can the scrubbing brush last for multiple years(like 5 for example)?
I need a small brush like that, where did you find it?
Cleaning/Nail Brush: bit.ly/CleaningBrushSN
Geo! What brush/razor stand is that? Looks like it accommodates the Chubby2 which most do not.
Yes- The Stand does hold the Chubby and most large brushes: goo.gl/gYL9ZY
geofatboy thanks Geo, just ordered it. Thanks for the link.
love it
Thanks Olito!
How do I prevent the drain from clogging? The soap is made of fats
Bathroom sink drain is 1-1/4" it won't be a problem...
Rinse, spray with alcohol, set out to dry...
Not to be overly picky, but double edge safety razor blades tend to rust if they are not dried completely. Unless you are going to blow dry your blade, I lay my rinsed blade flat on a clean dry towel in one hand, fold the towel over it, and press the two sides of the towel directly against it with both hands on either side. Direct up and down pressure, no lateral movement. I then put it on my magnet to air-dry. Try not to get any water on the surface of your magnet, putting a blade against it traps the water and it won't evaporate, ergo, rusted blade. Putting your blade back in the razor before BOTH are completely dry will lead to a rusted blade.
If you are wanting, or needing, to be really cheap on blades (like you're down to your last blade and need to shave, can't make it to the store, etc.) stropping the blade against a taut smooth cloth 5-6 strokes each of the four blade sides so you are brushing the microscopic metal fibers back TOWARDS the edge of the blade helps keep the blade sharp. (You're not pushing the edge of the blade into the cloth, you are going the other direction.) I find doing this can help squeeze another shave or two out of a dulling blade.
Thanks for the great tips Andre!
Andre Moreno I'm super cheap, I'll get all residue off my DEs, towel dry like you explained (let air dry while I clean razor), then hand strop! I can stretch my blades for 2+ weeks (3-4x per week shaves)!!!
Could l use machine oil instead of paraffin oil?
I use a very light machine oil no problems at all.
good thing to do - Id say most people dont do this
This is way more detailed than my tried and true method of running hot water over everything and throwing it in a drawer lol
Gotta take care of your tools!
@@geofatboy I agree, thanks for all the great videos you do!
Thanks Geo ! i wish shipping to europe wasn‘t as expensive haha
Paid 40$ for shipping but the shavenation gear is worth it! Bowl, brush, towel and shave stick :D
What, you have to clean them after using the gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could I dip it in rubbing Alcohol?
You could
@geofatboy - where did you get your magnet for your razor?
Alec Goenner the link is under the video !
I wish your safty razer,s where cheaper. Ppl on a Disntey chequered who don't get much can.t afford your safty razer l wish l could afford one but l can.t hello from ont Canada. Ken myke
i thought you will give skin care after shaving
Thanks for handling that Rocco!
That's in another video.
thank you man
I would say never slide your finger paraller to the blade like here. Wipe the oil away from the blade like you did on the other side. But all of this should be as obvious as doing the dishes..
Shaveing with a safety razors looks time consuming. Most people have to shave daily henc the name 5 o clock shadow.
How ironic, I had a beard care add on a beard shaving video
I scratch my head at that as well...
That is too much work to keep your razor clean and dry. I rinse with water then shake two remove any water. Then finally blow so that no residue is left on the razor
That works too, but you should give it a scrubbing once a week!
Woo!
What to do after you shave... ideally.
Exactly!
CONAIR 1875... A mans hair dryer.
And you better remember to clean every last whisker out of the sink, or your wife will beat your ass!
I blast mine with canned air to dry it off
Cool! That sounds like fun. Much easier than dragging my compressor hose into the bathroom :)
geofatboy haha, yeah that's no fun
Shit really? I just rinse everything off and let it air dry.
That's cool, whatever makes you happy and works!
I saw a video from 1950s on how to take care of a razor and it said to slightly unscrew the handle rinse and then store until next time
Over thinking it, just rinse everything off and good to go until next time.
You should do this to your razor at least once a week to prevent irritation and infection. When you change the blade is a good time to do it.
geofatboy ... Agree. And it depends on how expensive your equipment is and how long you want it to last. I loosen the head and run it under water. Shake it, squirt 3ml or so of isopropyl alcohol, shake it again and done.
Son of a bitch I never thought to clean my razor I'll start next time I shave
Prison Mike
Been told that a few times before... had to look him up!
Overkill. Just rinse your bowl, brush and all razor parts and let them dry on a towel until the next time.
Yep, kinda like what I did in the video...
geofatboy Don’t get me wrong it was a good video but showed cleaning with a brush, drying each part in itself, using hair dryer even, and putting it all together instead of not precisely doing that.
@@TurreTuntematon Got it!
Don’t mess with geofatboy!
Hair drier in the bathroom wtf? Only in the USA
Huh? Where do you keep yours? In the kitchen? Bedroom? Car?
Anybody that found this video useful needed the tip "make sure you don't touch the sharpen to the blade"....
What? "make sure you don't touch the sharpen to the blade?" And tell me why does CZcams list this as a highlighted comment?
I have no idea why CZcams listed it.... I was in a hurry..... Anybody that needed to watch this video to figure out how to clean a razor needs to be reminded not to touch the sharp part of the blade...... I've been a long time subscriber but kind of scraping the bottom of the content barrel with this video.....
