So which assistant do YOU think will be the first to go, or last the longest? ...I have my own theory but I want to hear yours.
I'm just waiting for home assistant voice control to get good. Then my data wont be shared, and I wont have "by the way" all the time.
can't wait for cortana chatgpt
So I am a long time Alexa user, I love it except for the notifications of advertisements such as "by the way"
Edit missed that part in the first watch
@@Zenkai76 Did you not even watch the Video?
Another great video Reed - thanks. IMO smart speakers will never entirely go away; but for me, my intent is to limit their functionality to basic timers and web searches. Everything else I plan to program into Home Assistant - I hate how much data they gather. If I look into my crystal ball, I would place my SWAG on Alexa being the first to go - but I can see valid reasons for why any of the 3 might be be first or last. Only time will tell.
8:01 Siri's nonchalant "nope!" took me out 😂
nope😄
The 'conversation' between them at the end is priceless! Thank you for all the down-to-earth info!

I can’t wait to see chat gpt implemented in a voice assistant of some sort. My Google home devices have become frustratingly difficult to talk to due to their lack of ability to understand context half the time, and constant errors when it asks me if I want to know more information about something, but then doesn’t give me more when I say yes.
Yeah, the same issue here, Google Assistant on my Sonos Roam speaker is glitchy and gets unresponsive most of the time, quite frustrating. Same thing happened yesterday with my Huawei M5 Light Android tablet, was working absolutely fine before.
Aside from that, being a person with visual disabilities I have an important thing that annoys me, is that asking for more information about a topic is not working for me either; Let’s suppose that I ask Google Assistant a topic, for example: What can cause a throat infection? She reads me the first paragraph, but when I ask her for more information about this topic or this article, she can’t understand me at all, does whatever she wants and this is quite frustrating, same thing happens when I ask her for word definitions, unbelievable that GA now has this awful limitation or bug having the google searcher inside.
Being from Mexico I can’t contact GA tech support to sort it out, and I asked this question on the forums but I received an answer from an expert that told me Google assistant is designed to only being able to give short answers which it’s a bad problem for visually impaired people like me.
Is really Google aware of this issue? Will bi a fix soon?
Microsoft is already on it.. if you registered for it is available with the new Bing
@@4rzaluz but it can’t speak and read you WEB articles just like Alexa does, can it? It’s time for the brands to think also on making content for people with vissual disabilities, not just for normal-seeing people
@@josemanuellastra2488 The purpose of IA is not to repeat like a parrot but to generate new ideas from the available data.
@@4rzaluz I don’t get it
Great video editing on this one. I loved the assistant banter.
That was one of the most information & humorous videos EVER! Great job!!
Would love to see a similar comparison for smart home hubs. Your previous video is 2 years old and it would be interesting to see how new features and new players in the space might change your opinion.
Virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa have become conversational partners, responding to complex inquiries and understanding context in ways that surprise users.
Amazing video! Lots of hard work and excellent editing went into this! Thank you for the information.
Would love if you talked about what you do for all of the custom smart speaker dialog you use in your videos. I know there are roundabout ways of getting them to read text, but as much as you include dialog with and between them in your videos I have to think you've come up with an interesting or creative workflow for it by now.
lol.. PLEASE... PLEASE.. I want to see MORE of the Siri Alexa arguments.. too funny! hahaha thanks much for this video tho.. very helpful!
learning so much from you bro cheers! keep it up
Thanks mate! I loved every second of this video, I just laid in bed trying them functions out as you were mentioning them😅. Totally subscribing
Great video Reed. Loved the editing! 👏👏
Thanks Shane!
I have Google and Amazon all over my home and they absolutely THE BEST! Thanks for this amazing video sending love from Virginia
That is really amazing ! Great reviews and comparison . Thank you for letting us know.
The end!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video!!
keep it uuuuup!!
I have made my home smart using the amazon echosystem purely. The drop in feature is amazing. I recently bought a new Echo Pop and now it synchs with my dot to play music from both speakers. Its cheap, easy to use and fun
Siri's "nope" had me rolling on the floor
Great video, a lot of fun, thanks! I've been pretty happy with Google Max but there's always room for improvement!
like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, czcams.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I love that the selling point for siri is "speaking at a normal volume"
I have all three. Apple's only claim is that Siri always speaks at a normal volume. Otherwise, stay away. Siri is the worst and the support is a fraction of Alexa or Google. "The Smart Home Solver" told us the truth.
@@davidenson4102 I have Apple home and Alexa. I converted to IOS and love Apple for all the obvious reasons but right now, their Home system is CONSTANTLY glitchy.
☝🏼 I have noticed smoother connections over the last year of updates (I can now put my phone, playing a podcast on the round thing and it automatically transfers it to the speaker. I also love that I. An use it as an intercom with an elderly parent but apparently this can be done with Alexa too (?) I feel I was sold an inferior product with a lot of promises that gets better over time, will likely be the best in the long run but right now - it is the worst of the three.
Out of sheer frustration, I picked up an Echo Dot and hot dammed that little thing works well and consistently.
Audio quality is another thing tho. Homepod is on another level in that
There's a lot more important things than that 😂
Here in Sweden the battle is between Google and Siri. Alexa doesn’t speak swedish and has only been available to buy directly from Amazon for between one to two years (and there are still a lot of Echos like the Echo Studio that you can’t buy) Siri learnt Swedish on the HomePod just over a year ago. Google was the first and therefore have by far most the biggest market share here in Sweden. But Apple is catching up…
I think Google is smarter but the sound from Apple is crispier, wish I could mix them together
Just use English
Sure but it’s more user friendly to be able to use your native language. And the kids cant speak that much english.
But yeah, the main reason for Echo not really being that popular here ik Sweden is the lack of possibillity to buy their full product range here.
Outstanding review. Thank you.
Great vidio and informative, timely for me as moving into a new home and want to itterate into the smart home world ... time to watch some of your other vids!
amazing intro and outro! you just nailed it! subscribed!
ive been waiting for a video like this
Great comparison, well done
Google's obvious biggest problems are obviously the routine and automation integration and customization. The speaker and assistant itself is good. Overriding custom questions and routines 3rd party commands require need work. I'm referring to services like myq that require you to say 'ask myq'. If you use the command like close the garage doo it will work close to 100% of the time but if you use a few lines that would replace "ask myq is the garage door open" it mostly responds with the time of local autoshops.
Not really sure if there's something that makes sense out there. I know there have previously been work arounds. None are successful for seemless garage door and google assistant integration.
Looking at setting up our first smart home. Thinking of doing basics really. Lights, thermostate, plugs (for washing machine etc) looking to grab an echo 10 and go from there. do you think that's viable?
Using home assistant definitely helps in making them all a little more equal.
Virtual assistants like Siri and Alexa have become conversational partners, responding to complex inquiries and understanding context in ways that surprise users.
This is the video I needed, thanks!
I think they’ll all survive. They’re like car companies, the differences will become less noticeable, but people like options. It’s annoying they each have their own niche in my opinion. I want all three for different reasons, but would really prefer just one assistant that can do it all.
Awesome video! Informative, AND hilarious!! 😂 Love it! I'm subscribing.
I really appreciated your video over all the others 💫
I love the videos where you have them fighting 😂
Correction: you can create custom voice commands for Siri using Siri Shortcuts. These can be very powerful.
I use these a lot!
You can for all
This is your best video yet! 😂😂😂 you should win an Oscar for it. Maybe, original script, or visual effect (those multiple Reeds) or performance by a supporting robot
Love the ending ! 😂
Still using the first Echo that ever came out. It never let me down.
Another great video from you!
Honestly the timing of this video couldn't be better. Your Smartbulb video came so handy too. I was mostly going towards Apple's eco-system because how it can be used when being offline (in case of internet cut-off for whatever reason) but here in Poland I can get 2x Nest Hub 2 with leftover for like 3 cheeseburgers, for the price of one HomePod Mini. And since thread roll-out is so slow, Google is the way to go... for now. At least in my case.
Apple HomePod Mini is not so much expensive comparing to Amazon Echo (Dot version has awful audio). The bigger issue is that Siri is very limited comparing to Alexa. I don't think a speaker price should be a main factor when you choose your smart home ecosystem.
Same idea for me as well, I have the nest hub gen 2 and I agree with his assessment in the video. It is amazing and super useful to have! It completely replaced my nest mini's even if I moved to apple which I'm currently thinking of, I'm definitely keeping it. The hub I would use for apple would be the apple tv instead of the home pod mini.
I recently got a echo dot 3 from my very nice friend any my favorite feature is also the announcement feature, it also works with my sisters amazon kids tablet!
Awesome video! I would like to say "as usual", but I feel that it's better! Nicely done! (y) Keep the good work!
Does any of them support conditional routines, like "Turn on the lights after the sunset only if I'm home" and "Turn on the lights when I'm back if it's already after the sunset"?
I've been using Google Assistant for years and it's one of my best friends. 😄
ChatGPT destroys all of these 😂
Did I miss something? I'm fairly sure you can program routines for Siri in the Shortcuts app (though you technically have to do it with an iphone or ipad).
Thanks for not being bias. I know you're pro Apple ecosystem. My home is mainly Amazon with one Google Assistant device which I kept before switching over to Amazon speakers/smart displays.
1:38 the follow up questions work for me on my Alexa
2 mins in and i find myself more torn!!🤣🤣🤣 😅
I still use Pandora THANK YOU!!! 😂I used to you Google Music back in 09
thank you that was helpful
I can't believe your SIRI just caused my Google Display to enter "Self Destruct" Mode lol!
Reed, I’m trying to have my Yeelight smart bulbs connect to a smart switch that works without killing the power to the lights. I’m trying not to use a hub, but can’t find any that don’t require one. Do you have any recommendations
Thanks. Great comparison. Considering the flexibility and customization, I would go with Google Home.
enjoyed this video thank you
I’ve noticed that Amazons major issue is their lack of different languages as one of the main complaints I see for Amazon is lack of language options I saw a comment about the lack of Swedish,Indonesian and finish
I've been trying to stick with Apple, but my kids room has two fairy light strings and a galaxy lamp that work with Alexa/Google. I've added Google Home to my iPhone and her tablet so we can make schedules and turn them on/off when we want to.
She could also use a home assistant with a screen as a clock/music player. I'll probably get one the next time they go on sale.
Just curious if the show 15 has worked out the kinks from launch? Thinking about getting this for my wife for the Kitchen.
How did you make them do that at the end? that was hilarious, You still got me stuck between google assistant and Amazon echo.
So despite all i think to say "Alexa" just is more natural and sound smoother than google
Can you use the HomeKit on iPad and have Alexa devices?
that was a fun video, thankyou very much
Well I just got the echo show 5 from the recent prime day for $40 and it included one of those hue smart lightbulbs...my only gripes is the screen is a bit small, but if you have it on a nightstand I guess it's convenient...
Also, because of the way it sits (without a stand) pointing up if you use it as a security cam to check your home while you're away the view is mostly towards the ceiling...granted I have it on my kitchen counter but still. I guess that's why they sell you the stand for it so you can have those adjustments...other than that I'm liking it so far...
by the way, you mentioned that Alexa doesn't do follow-up questions or doesn't do them well. I don't know if they did an update since this video but you can indeed do follow-up questions without having to say "Alexa"...
And because I have a firestick it pairs up quite nicely since I can have it send videos to my tv and such. I can even turn off my tv just by asking Alexa... something I couldn't do before.
the only thing I'm trying to figure out now is that in the past few days I use to get various tips and suggestions as a screen saver and now I tend to see 1 or 2 blank screens where information used to be. Not sure why that is...if I get another it will be the echo show 8 because it's bigger.
Great editing bro!
Great video! I currently have a Google Nest Mini gen 2. What is the update to this? Is Google going to release a Nest Mini gen 3? Thank you!
I haven’t heard anything about an update but they should!
Hello, could you please do a segment addressing the recent Google Assistant identity crisis where it just changes a set voice and changes to female voice on its own. I've set mine for years now on male voice and asking time other simple tasks it reverts to default female voice then reverts back again to set male voice. No one at Google seems to care, it seems this problem is getting worse and many others having identical problems.
As an AI language model I have to admit that all alternatives are better than me for having natural discussions and casual joking and talking, because the alternatives of me who is just an AI language model, don´t begin every single phrase with "as an AI language model I can / or cannot..." :D
Joke aside ChatGPT has so much potential I hope they implement the new groundbreaking singularity AI somehow in these devices. And making the device react to the keyword "computer!" is great, because in Star Trek The next Generation the ship´s computer also reacts to the keyword computer. Very immersive!
Amazon just had to choose the name of my dog for another wake word, does make for some good family annoyance since Alexa will respond when my family is commanding the dog. Great video as always!
I have 5 Amazon speakers and a couple Google speakers. I started my smart home with Google but with their lack of good routines I switched to Amazon. Since then I picked up a Hubitat that works great on Alexa. We ask Google questions and run home automations through Alexa. I must have turned something off on Alexa because I don't get adds.
I love how it's start's 😂😂😂😂
Turns out Google actually has a response to "Hey Google, self destruct" 😄
FYI Siri has had custom voice commands for a few years via the Shortcuts app. They sync to HomePods.
The ending was fire 😂
The ending is the best part! lol stay tuned!! So funny- I loved it
I find Siri lazy. If you ask Alexa something , it tells you. If you ask Siri, it says here's the webpage, go read it yourself lol. I also like Alexa when you whisper, it whispers back.
Which one do you recommend for commanding Christmas Carol songs for singing along??
You did very good on the end of the video, about then talking
Is it possible to use Google integrations with Home Assistant to get a duo call to work like a drop in works on Alex, I would love to see a video on this, I also think it would tip towards Google.
Another great video. Thank you for highlighting the features of all. Will be interesting to see if Apple comes out with smart display and how that may compete with google. I agree Alexa is my primary right now due to ease of use for routines and automations. Apple not far behind for me. I do have a google display as I did want to try but just did not fit into my home.
Thanks, you made my clock self destruct...
One thing whch would be nice for a future video is if you spent a video going through which has the best app for smart home control.
What brand of candle lights would you recommend for use with Home Assistant?
I don't use many candle lights. The only two I'm using are a LIFX one because it can do multiple colors at once and the other is a Sengled Zigbee bulb. Sengled works good though and works locally with Home Assistant using Zigbee.
"Alexa. Hey Google. Self-destruct!" Hilarious.
hey, where did you got the idea you cant create costume voice comands with apple? you definitly can, is called short cuts, is a different app than the home app but you still can do it.
So we had a choice between the Echo and the Google hub. Long story short we got the Echo Show 8 in the mail I opened it and set it up and my gosh!!! It’s the best ever!! It does everything we even watch CZcams vids for cooking recipes while in the kitchen cooking…honestly I’m watching Mustang GT vids and everything else I love on CZcams 😂. It has a camera and we have connected to all our televisions as well as lights. It reminds our kids to do chores I mean you can program this thing to do whatever you want it to do. We can even control it while we are away. I love the nice size touch screen it has and the built in speaker hits hard!! So far I’ve enjoyed this device and to be honest I want at least two more. Just to have one by my bedside 😂 they are super cool and you all would love them.
I loved my echo's but lately routins and devices that worked fine but are now bugging out.
Bro I just whispered to my Alexa I had no idea that was a thing! Neat! 😂
“Are you spying on us.”
Siri: “Shut the FUCK UP or I’ll upload your search history to Instagram!!!!” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have both Google Assistant and Amazon Assistant (Alexa) and I can say Google Assistant performs better than Alexa. Many questions I ask both Assistants, Google Assistant answers well, however Alexa most of the time doesn't have response even for the most obvious question. The UI (phone) of Google Home App is also fluid and not as complicated as Alexa. The only pro I see with Alexa is, it connects faster when I share/transfer my music to it via any music apps unlike Google home that takes some time.
I’ve been able to have Siri turn off the lights in two rooms, so in theory they are different commands, although the same across room.
Apple has shortcuts and the homekit integration with Home Assistant makes for very low latency control of home devices using Siri. Love it.
Shortcuts lets you create custom voice commands. “Hey Siri, I’m getting ready for bed” starts up a sleep playlist on my bedroom HomePod and dims the lights.
Imagine coming back home and listen to them speak to each other , fking creepy LOL , thanks for the great vid man v!
Does Google support offline actions, like things I could run through home assistant?
My alexa devices stop listening to wake words randomly which is a major mood killer.
“Yes, my displays are top class, the competition can kiss my ...” 😆😆
Question, can alexa and google control same devices such as smart plugs?
As hilarious as informative. Alexa insisted I subscribe!
THE DISRESPECT AT THE END LOL
Hilarious! This one earned you a Subscribe!
