That engine by itself, is art, i could look at it for hours, and still find something new to the eyes.
Thats the same experience, i get when i go to the museum, great build !!
Gotta love the sound of straight cut gears.
That car would not be complete were it not for the billet cup holders ....LOL
rcruz003
"ITS REALLY NOT THAT LOUD" he screams
Women will never understand why guys build these things.
Love this channel, you build amazing engines. Keep up the awesome work!
thats a work of art. amazing fabrication skills.
I kinda wonder what type of guy says " I'll just share your nachos with you " to another guy ! Hmmmm , my answer would be " get your own , you're not my girlfriend " thanks for sharing this video 👍😎🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Right....that was a little weird
Lol my mechanic's shop is on Oso. Bet he was one of the guys watching you drive by
Nice, keep up the wonderful work.
Thats just insane, cruisin the streets in a trophy truck. Awesome. You guys are probably the first to hit a drive through in a trophy truck also
Dual cup holders too...what more could you want?
Fantastic build and it works very well.

You Guys Rock! If you ever get a TV show dont ruin what you do with drama and drag it out! Keep it fun, to the point and raw, with pure power!
I remember when you put this out, still awesome, with your motor.. 😁
Impressive. The area is familiar. I did welding for a couple of companies in that area.
Insanity at its best...gotta love it
@ndawgtkd its coming from the transmission on this particular truck. The gears inside the transmission are straight cut for strength and positive engagement, instead of helical cut like on a regular passenger car or truck. Auto manufacturers use helical gears solely to reduce noise in forward gears. But reverse is usually a straight cut gear, that's why if you ever floor it in reverse in a standard transmission car it makes a whining noise. Hope that helped!
That thing is freakin serious! Man, a dream truck!
Sweet sound.
del taco is amazing. I thought I was the only one!
Jesus, that straight cut gear whine would drive me crazy! but i would love it too!
It looks like something you take to one of those BAJA type races. Looks good! And FAST!!!
crazy build guys
where is this truck located? you guys drove circles around my work off of Prairie St i wish i got to see it.
@fuelintheveins Thank you for that very informative reply, you learn something new everyday!
I love the cup holders!! Sounds great, but I'm not tellin you somethin' you don't know.
@TYLERTHEBEAST420
The suspension is designed that way.. You want it to be soft because these trucks need to flex and absorb the bumps because they are driven off road at high speeds. Though if you jumped this truck the suspension would open up and you would see the tires move towards the ground away from the body so when it comes back down it can absorb the impact.
is the frame strong enough for al that power? Nice car man!
Can't believe this was 9 years ago!
Need more video Tom
i've always wondered about that too, exspecialy how tough the Cali cops are on street racing. Hot Rod Mag's Crusher camaro was nearly crushed a few years ago when Hot Rod editor-in-cheif David freiburger got caught doing a burnout in a back alley for a photo shoot. he even said in the mag that he was very lucky.
I wish street legal trucks sounded like that factory lol
Sounds like shit with that bearing in the trans going bad.
Don Rutter Straight cut gears whine like that. Here is a long explanation why.
Straight cut gears are lighter, cheaper, stronger, produce no axial load, don't get as hot, don't fail as catastrophically, and can be changed out easier. But they're louder and wear faster due to incomplete meshing of the teeth. The catastrophic failure in a straight cut gearbox is the shafts either twisting and snapping that way, or the teeth breaking apart causing slip and the teeth to press the gears apart, breaking the shafts.
Helically cut gears are silent because the teeth mesh completely and for longer periods of time, dampening sound, though that increases friction and heats up the transmission faster. Due to the helical cut, they also put axial load on the shafts, meaning catastrophic failure is the shaft snapping in half under too high a load from the gears pushing themselves apart.
It's this the same mad max pro mod that Jeff lutz is driving this year for drag week?
Hey what did you do for the racing seats and how much do they way I want to do that for my Silverado
Australian Paul Wheel Racing radiators. good to see some parts from my home town.
much appreciated and thanks for the advice mate; I'll be in the market for a mid engine buggy soon so was wondering what company to go with so that helps, cheers..
the best looking truck i have ever seen
Would not be my choice of design, i love how smart that engine has been put in there. Optimal cooling too seems that way. Like any Nelson car, there just awesome.
is this a full on fun truck or is it a race specific unit?
fastest taco on the streets!! lol
hot damn check out the squat when he opens the throttle! lots of travel. lots of power. lots of fun.
I hear some folks low rating NRE but i say Nelson is a mad genius.
Scott Patterson thats because what ever they build blows up with in 1 month ..but people dont realize that 1700 hp isnt going to be reliable as a 100hp camery and 1700hp gets abused the way it should be and things will go bang eventually 😉all part of the sport
Does anyone know what the music is that starts around the 4 minute mark?
Now, thats what my talkin about!, that I had commented in the other vid. except in a 4 seater sand rail !! Awsome!..
JUST PURE AWESOMENESS. good i wish i had the money to buy from NRE.
respect on wearing helmets even on the street. Any car with a roll cage should never be driven without them
does anyone know where this truck is today?
holy shit im lovin how that thing just lifts in the front like that and that shifter is genius 5 stars
that thing is huge. i love it
That's some desert blaster.
sick truck its nice
I'm a ford guy myself, but this is one vicious looking rig
are you going to paint it? or are you going to ceep the steel colour?
Hey tommy can I ask you why your wearing your protective head gear ? Maybe it brings back old time's in your school years and taking the special bus . the Happy bus ..you know the bus that used to come later the one that you had to wear your protective head gear on .... Do you know what GORK is well that's what you look like driving around with your head gear on ..
Is this thing built for a Baja team or sand play?
It's actually running a Albins AGB 5 speed transaxle. Their 5 and 6 speed transmissions are very popular in the Finke, Baja and Dakar vehicles.
Damn! That's f'n crazy guys!
Tom looks like kazoo on the Flintstones cartoon when he’s got that helmet on.
Any more videos of this thing in action? off road? Insanity at its finest.
ong dude those turbos r just unreal
This video is priceless!
It is nothing like a tiptronic transmission. What you are thinking of is a factory car that lets you select the gear and still shifts with solenoids and a valve body like a regular automatic transmission. It just electronically bypasses the transmission control unit and lets you feel like you dictate the shift. This is a manual transmission with a dog style shift that lets you shift it without a clutch.
My only comment is: AWESOME!
My only quesiton is: clutchless trans so does it work when you have to stop as there's no clutch?
Outstanding !.the ultimate urban assault vehicle!.
Wait no spare tire locations?
finally, a cool truck!
What sport class in Baja does it fit in?
agree you guys have the brains and the power make it 4wd
Dear Santa .....I've been good all year ......NOW ASK ME WHAT I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS !
how much air do those intercoolers get in the back?
Only in 'Merica.... cup holders...lol
Tom Martin America.
Most spell it Murica.
Either way,it's stupid as fuck.
what music did you have when you where showing the truck
Why'd you edit out Larry's order? I was interested in what he had to order.
The camera man got in the right way lol
take it to baha. . and where can i get one of those seqential shift kits?
How many tickets do you have? Lol. Awesome cars!
Very nice! I hear that it has 4 seats, but I could only count 3:)
any idea what brand of transaxle is in it..?
Is that Sheepey built exhaust?
I surprised the local Constabulary haven't busted Nelson yet for the way he drives on the streets. He must have a good relationship with them, given what he posts.
