- Arrowhead Mall is an enclosed shopping mall in Muskogee, Oklahoma. It was opened in 1987 and was owned by J. Herzog & Sons, Inc. from 2005 until November 2016 when the mall went into receivership and was put up for sale by Wells Fargo Bank. Wells Fargo bank sold the mall to an investor in 2018 and is currently managed by Property Managers LLC of Fort Worth, Texas.
J. Herzog updated the mall throughout 2014, removing the old play area and adding more seating in the food court, free Wi-Fi, and a Justice clothing store. Sears announced the closure of its Muskogee store in August 2014. Sears closed in November 2014. The United States Postal Service moved into part of the old Sears store location in 2019.
Dillard's closed May 2019 and Stage closed August 2020. On June 4, 2020, it was announced that JCPenney would close around October 2020 as part of a plan to close 154 stores nationwide. The JCPenney closure left the mall without any anchors.

my previous recorded visit to arrowhead mall can be found here: czcams.com/video/xCNd_gWnZIc/video.html
I used to work at night cleaning, i vacuumed every square Inch of carpet, swept the floors and cleaned the theater.. we used a leaf blower to blow all the trash and loose popcorn down to the bottom. Found money a lot in the seats and floor, unopened Candy boxes. Lot of good people worked there.
do you remember what year(s?) you worked there?
@@khuntington unfortunately not, it was for a temp company and my memory fails me often. If i had to guess, it would be between 06 and 09. I remember it was during the winter months, because i hated all the salt that got tracked in on the floors
Such a blast from the past. I lived in Muskogee for half of my life and went to Arrowhead with my mom often. Seeing even small things like the Subway, the theater, and the huge pole in the room with the tent ceiling. I live in Arizona now but last summer we took a trip up to visit family, and I got to see the mall from the outside again. Seeing it from the inside like this is a whole different story though, thank you.
You should head to Arizona’s Arrowhead Mall!
i used to love the justice in this mall as a kid it always had everything in stock and the employees were very nice
Good vid! Nice choices for music. More please!
I remember when that pet shop sold baby alligators. Surprised that somehow never turned into a problem.
I think the big shoot-out inside the mall drove the customers away.
Stage was one of the last stores to go and the lady that worked there told me that most of the stores including stage closed because the mall owner kept going up on each stores rent. So they would rather close their doors than pay high rent prices.
@neneb5232 I worked security there in '06 - '07 and high rent was one of the store managers main complaints
Would consider doing a Dead Mall Tour of Tulsa Promenade Video, the mall is pretty Dead as is and no one has done a video in a couple of years updating.
ive already shot that. i need to just finish editing and there's a couple more shots i want.
This mall is the reason I never go down Main Street when I’m in Muskogee. It’s sad to see such a huge part of my childhood in shambles
Remember Mike's Fish Plus and the green alligator slide? That was the era I was familiar with.
Yes!!!! My stepdad owned the fish plus for a few years right before the mall went downhill and everything closed....
The aligator slide was grimy and smelled like feet
A lot great memories at that mall.
Miss that mall.
Worked security there in 06 & 07 and i think those years were the last hoorah years for this place...and then the shooting happened and it went downhill
How many people would show up in those years
@heydani6678 quite a few people visited; always mall walkers in the mornings, weekends were busy especially the theater when Dan was in charge, and Malloween was always crazy
I remember that shooting. Things were never really the same after that happened 😢
The irony is, it looks exactly the same as 1:08 today.
too soon :(
Don’t forget Coach House Gifts.
I miss this mall I went there every weekend
Love this.
thanks. i was a mallrat here on the mid 90s my sister snd i would just hangout with friends all weekend here. sad to see things change. 😔
Man, I miss the mall. It used to be so much better I remember candy craze, the alligator in the middle of the mall, and the Cinema, It's so sad that It's dead like this, my mom said It's because they charged too much for rent.
Also where did you get that old footage? I'd love to look into it more
@@saccstrywillow6574 tape archives at work. that was all the footage we had.
i've also heard the rent was high. i remember when they put candy crazy in. it went in in the mid 90s at some point. 95? 96? but i remember always going and getting rock candy. it was the best.
About 15 years ago, my step dad had a pet store in the mall and he ended up having to close down because the rent got too high. I guess new owners took over around that time and raised everyone's rent. Ever since then, the stors have all closed one by one. So sad, it really could have been a great place if done right 😭
@@cyndihunter6022 WAIT I THINK I REMEBER ITTT
I'm from Gore, Oklahoma. My family would sometimes shop there. I love it. It's too bad it closed. It was nice. It was somewhere to go.🤎
i had some friends who lived in gore (we're talking 22 year ago, but yeah) so did the mall actually close then entirely?
@@khuntington I was in Muskogee, a couple of weeks ago. But, I was there to recycle some metal. Afterwards, I stopped at Muskogee's Casino. I don't know the status of the mall. I think 2001 was actually the last time I stepped foot in there.🤎
Hey Verlin!
I think lt could be turned into a craft and artist gallery and attract people from all over the state. wood artisans, painters, metal crafts, pottery, jewelry, tattoos. wood burnings, watercolors, oil painters, it's endless. the floor space rent would have to start out ridiculously low. until the crafters turn a good profit so it should be a percentage of the take, about 5 percent in fact the sales tax collected should be the payment for the first year. I'm sure the state would do that for the mall's survival. I could manage it all.
My grandparents lived in Muskogee. I remember downtown before they half-gutted it to make this mall.
5:23 nice legs. 🙂
oh what a shame guess it was built after we moved
The bath and body works just recently closed now, another one down.
Are you serious
@@jm10014 yes, they just moved near the walmart
NOOO
It's just sad. I spent my childhood at this mall, & now the only things there are the Army Recruiting office & they turned SEARS into an extension of the Muskogee post office. The owner/operator must be kicking themselves, because recently they've started trying to hold weekend flea markets in the food court & throughout the walkway areas; yet all the store's doors remain locked & unused. Just sad.
correct me if i'm wrong, but isnt that THE post office? i'm not in muskogee anymore, but i was under the impression the post office actually moved from off okmulgee to the mall.
@@khuntington you are incorrect. Google "Muskogee Oklahoma post office" & both locations will be in the results, because both locations are still in active use.
Location A: 505 N Main St, Muskogee, OK 74401 inside Arrowhead Mall.
Location B: 3414 W Okmulgee Ave, Muskogee, OK 74401 inside of Economy Pharmacy West Side.
Do you have an email? Because idk how to post a screenshot in CZcams replies if you need visual proof.
@@heatheralverson7822 nah, it's fine. thanks for the clarification!
Where did you find the news broadcast?
work. 🤫🤫🤫
Plagiarized 😂
😮😮😮
Man, what was the arcade there? Goldmine? Or Tilt?
neither. SilverBall.
Has the movie theater close down since 2021?
The only things in the mall now are the Army Recruiting Office & SEARS was converted into an extension of the Muskogee Post Office. If you want to catch a movie in Muskogee you'll have to go to Apex Cinema on W. Shawnee Street, or the Roxy still shows historical & cult classic movies sometimes, like 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' 'Hell on the Border," & 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' during the Halloween season.
Unbelievable. I loved in Muskogee until 2011. It wasn’t that bad at the time.
its on life support now. in 2 years it'll be an office complex for DHS or some such.
@@khuntington I have my thoughts for what it'll be but I dont wanna be a "conspiracy theorist". We all know how wrong those guys have been lately 😉
@4:35 Verlin Crigger
yeah i was telling my wife when we left that that guy looked very familiar, then it hit me that i remembered seeing him all the time in the 90s when i hung out at the mall, snd i was like good for him for still keeping it alive for all this time.
that shot really fell into my lap, and i was pretty stoked after the fact that i was able to include him in it. initially i was just going to have my wife walk accross the bridge and so i was setting the camera up and saw him coming so i was like "nevermind, this will be better" 😊😊
@@khuntington I remember the mall being the place to go and even 10 years ago it was still pretty busy, then it started to just die.
Are there still any chairs and tables in the food court? That’s where the old people used to congregate every morning
No
@@Dittollol RIP Arrowhead Mall. 😔
@@Dad_Brad it used to be so great until it died
There is I've been there in the past week
Yeah there’s about a dozen tables with 4 chairs each. I can over here from Tulsa to explore I didn’t know it was gonna be this dead
the big pole is going to fall i swear
been there for almost 40 years.
I have the same thought
dollar tree is gone now too and subway
holy cow. that's insane. so there's nothing left, right? except the post office and radio station?
the radio stationis closed too its something else now but the post office is still there i know someone who works there but yea its dead@@khuntington
@@khuntingtonthere’s a mom and pop bakery but yeah besides the radio station and the post office that’s it
@@akacj_ really? like real baked goods like breads and muffins and bagels and such? is this in the foodcourt area? or in one of the shops?
@@khuntingtonthere’s a spirit Halloween behind the mall I think.
Muskogee is so nasty.
That mall sucks. Full of trump supporters.
i mean... literally any building in oklahoma will have many trump supporters. only state in the union that carried trump in every single county.
@@khuntington same thing happened in ‘08 for John McCain
