Soul this is your first time listening to an emotional song by Angelina. Her timing, rhythm as always are spot on but it's the way she emotes every single word with that beautiful soulful tone that connects with the listener. While soul singers touch your soul, Angelina's voice envelops your soul in a warm, loving embrace.
And, the maturity she brings to these songs and she's only 12 here, I think!!
This is one of my favorites. How does a twelve year old pack that emotional punch into a song with a very adult theme and lyrics? But we’ve seen her do it many times, and it’s beautiful. Her interpretation of lyrics fits perfectly with her magical voice, and we feel the melancholy the twentieth or fiftieth time we hear this song. To quibble slightly with your reaction-I don’t think it’s a matter of Angelina “pulling it off” with this minimalist musical setup. On the contrary, I think it’s Angelina at her best. Her voice is the center of it all. It’s so pure and sincere that in songs like this, it’s best without anything but that guitar to fill in the quiet spaces.

@@nyima04011 I couldn't agree with you more. Have you listened to her new song? I've listed to it probably more than 20 times today and cried each time. Every reaction I see of it also reduces me to tears.
This performance is one her most gut wrenching, soulful performances. It is amazing for the masterful reach for deep notes.
Personally, I find her version has more feeling than Adele's.

Totally agree with you regarding Angelina's lower register. It's so rounded, so rich! The thing is many people are used to "admire" the belting singers which is a shame because that's not truly the measure of a great singer. Angelina's wide vocal range is ;)
She's only 12, could not possibly have experienced the emotions of this song. But yet she conveys the raw emotions of someone 40 years old. She is truly a master, it's like she becomes the song and we listening to it feel every nuance. Thanks for the review, great job.

All Angelina needs is a good guitarist and Ivan Mendez, who she performs with in the US, and Egil Clausen who she has performed with for years in Norway, do that job beautifully.

You picked a good one here! But really, they are all good ones when it comes to Angelina ;) To really understand how incredible this cover is, you have to listen to Adele's version too. Here is a 12 year old in her room creating something that stands up to one of the best selling singers of our times. It just boggles the mind. I have to add... BIG NEWS from Angelina today!!! For a long time we were all impressed with AJ's monumental vocal prowess. While true and very much still present, what we didn't realize was that she was actually perfecting a new language of emotion which she inhabits so well in this song (and in her latest "Million Miles). Nice job, Soul!

In this song, IMO, comparing the two versions (original by Adele and the cover of Angelina), she, at 12 years old, is decidedly more emotional and profound, with tones in a wider range than that of Adele and more, she is reading while singing 😍 😍
Angelina makes difficult things seem easy and she offers them in such a spontaneous way and without any apparent effort that she makes us taste them sweetly, just like a colorful dessert that melts in your mouth releasing sweet musical aromas, she is absolutely fascinating.

Incredibly as it is, she is able to bring so much emotion to a song, where she actually at times obviously looks at the lyrics!

About your "she's comfortable in lower tones" - what do you think she achieves? Do you think she has more tools at her disposal - er - control? Like the soft rasp growl (almost like someone rolling their R's) during opening or closing tones on some lines of lyrics? Do you think she ponders "how many tools/tones do I have at THIS octave rather than another?" One thing - if she starts low and then explodes up - it is a powerful effect. The reverse effect, however, can also draw an audience into an even more intimate listening mode. Well... it's always fun to wonder what she considered. Wouldn't you love to hear more of these early trials?

The guitarist is Ivan Mendez who is Angelina's accompanist in the U.S., while Egil Claussen is Angelina's guitarist in Norway since she was about 6. Ivan, in addition to being a great guitarist, is also a singer as well. Check out his CZcams. Once again, Angelina covers Adele like no other artist, as this one is a huge fan favorite and one of her most recommended for reaction. The music is all inside of her, so whenever and whatever live music she is accompanied by, she is always busy to make sure they are abel to follow HER. We are told she is boss at any rehearsel and consert she attends to. This is also why, as I sence it, she sometime is struggling a bit more, as she use backtracks for her videos. SHE then has to adjust to the music, insted of the other way around. We for sure know that her musical mind always contains the superior way for her, to perform almost any song she choose to take on.
One GREAT example of that I think, is her version of "Wicked Game". I can`t wait for you to react to that one, as she is not only performing the song, as she even handle the piano her self, as well. So please please, don`t wait too long to do your reaction. It is for sure a great treat.

That was probably the first take, he just learned the song right before they started and if you look carefully, she was reading some of the lyrics. Yet it sounded way better than songs that were worked on for months in a studio. She's at a whole other level than anyone else.
