AJ is 8 here. Her vocal fry, vibrato, phrasing, and emotional depth are what you would expect from an accomplished adult jazz singer. With this performance, she won NGT by a landslide. And a STAR is born.

I was in the control room with about 8 people and had this performance on a monitor we were discussing the mix we had just listened to then one of the producers asked me whats on the CZcams so I played it over the studio monitors, the room went dead quiet till the end then ever one wanted to know everything they could about her; I told one of the producers there that this is one singer that will never have to use auto tune.

She came from the planet "Talent" where everyone has some kind of super ability. She lived on the same street as Dimash and around the corner from Tiger Woods. She came in a rocket wrapped in a blanket which her family made into the outfit she wore on AGT, with the leftovers making the mask in the "The Show Must Go On" video. Her only "Kryptonite" is the Hollywood Music Machine.. So far, her family has done a great job shielding her. Hopefully she never gets caught up by it.

👌 So true, but actually by 6 she was already a full blown philanthropist. At the age of 3, she attended a charity exhibition by her grandma to raise money for cancer. She donated and sold 20 of her own drawings for the charity. Her grandma is an amazing compassionate and talented person and a wonderful mentor and supporter for Angelina.

For a long time I've amused myself imagining Billie Holliday's joy if she could jump into a protective family and be so nurtured and supported in her music as Angelina is. Then I had fun imagining Frank Sinatra having the same chance. Amy Winehouse lived longer than when Angelina was born, so that's out. But lately I imagine Angelina in the clouds studying in the heavenly jazz school and then saying "I'm ready to go!" with the same thumbs-up as before she sang Gloomy Sunday. Wherever she prepared, she surely came in prepared!

Soul, Have you ever seen another child singer that has such absolute mastery of her mind that she can perform at a level of ability that is decades beyond their chronological age? Angelina is, hands down, a musical genius. She shatters all conventional stereotypes of what is expected of child singers. Her vocal acuity, maturity and versatility is unmatched. It’s not a stretch to say that we are watching the most profoundly gifted and talented young singer in existence. None of the other talented child singers that are currently being viewed on youtube are Angelina’s equal.
When you look at the rehearsal for this performance, you see it's her arrangement. She gives the wishes how she wants to sing to her musicians. Thanks for your wonderful Reaction 🙏

She entered the competition at 7, but was 8 before the finals (this song). Not that it changes anything about how stunning her performance and talent is.
She belts in some songs, but not often. I guess she does from time to time, like a few parts of her songs in AGT, just to show that she CAN belt if she wants.
Btw, you should check out the Summertime rehersal videos (I think there are 2 of them), to see how handles the band, her instructions ("wishes").

She has perfected this song watch her performance at 11 yrs old and 14. Not too different stylistically but her baby voice is grown up now.
they were sea-green ankle boots and angelina said they were her favorite shoes...her grandfather died recently and angelina said he would be sorely missed by the townspeople ( less fortunate ) as he would help them find jobs and give them money. it runs in her family. wait till u find out about her writing skills...thanks

She spent a lot of time with a grandmother who played the old jazz & blues singers and probably Ella F. If you are talented as Angelina is, and you listen to the styles of the classic vocalists for years, you can pick up, intuitively, the techniques. Give grandmother a huge round of applause.

I live in Copenhagen and have never heard of Angelina Jordon even Oslo only is 700 km away. I discovered her a few weeks ago. I have been a Billie Holiday fan for at least 50 years, and there was a new version of her so close. Angelina has never been on TV here???? Why??? Only rock and pop is on TV. But I'm glad I found her👍

No past lives. Angelina's altruism is guided by her mother and bohemian grandmother but it also evolved from the deep attachment and love she has for her younger sister juliette. She has often said all she wants is to spread love

You mentioned the story of her giving away her shoes. Lost in the story is the person ( maybe Mom or Grandma) whom accompanied her when the deed was performed. This person was an enabler, allowing the deed to be actualized. Reading that her grandpa was also a benevolent person, i can't help but recall the saying "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree".
That is in the reason they are called "Grand" in their titles!!!
Another wonderful reaction to my favorite young singer. You articulated very well what a special gift she is to the world. Her altruism at such an age is as remarkable as her voice. There were no better performances of this song by an 8 year old in a live completion on her national TV, anywhere in the world. I can barely wait to you see her on stage in a packed stadium singing “What A Difference A Day Makes” at age 8.

Though I love Angie in her own renditions of so many songs, in her own rendition of I'd rather go blind is not up to par to what I am sure she will do in the future. so;

People always compare her to different artists.. I think its time to say that she has her own unic woice and can stand very well on her own feet as one of the best singe in the world today. Things will change when she comes out with her own record, singing her songs, written by her self. She has it all!!💖🌸
Some say reincarnation explains Angelina or they posit the “She is an old soul” idea. These explanations fail because there simply is no identifiable artist from the past (as great as many of them were) that can put the variety and number of stickpins on the vocal map that Angelina can and has already placed there.
What she is, for whatever His reasons, is a manifest miracle from God. He has gifted her with the most versatile, effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today. He has given her a compassion for others and a refreshing humility regarding herself. He has given her the ability to touch our emotions with nearly every song and sometimes with her first note.
We must stop the idea that this (or that) song is perfect for her voice. Such is a logical circular argument leading nowhere as such can be said about many if not most of her performances. It is like saying this or that stone is perfect for a sculptor. What she does is to respectfully occupy the song using whatever she needs from her immense vocal toolbox and then to deliver all the emotion and feeling it should have. Often some will say ‘is she 13 or 14 here’ as though one year would somehow explain or validate what we just heard her do musically. In fact, at whatever age, her artistry remains unique and often extraordinary.
Don’t mistake her apparently effortless performances as anything but the evidence of her hard work and diligence beforehand to master her craft, hone her gift, and prepare what she wants to communicate so that it sounds easy when it is anything but.
She has had a camera in her face from a very young age, first in the friendly hands of her grandmother and family and later more and more from the public and media. This progression has allowed her to develop a comfort with such exposure and an unflappable nature toward what will one day likely be a nearly constant presence.
Lastly, realize for a moment what she knows she carries (as expressed in her words from her own song -'Shield'): “When all my fears tearing right through my bones, Feeling so tired and alone”. What she experiences, the accolades and pressures that build up on her, what her goals and aspirations are, what she sees across the music landscape and her unique place in it, how few there are to actually talk to about some of this (how can there be, she is a once in a lifetime artist). All of this is quite a heavy thing to carry at any age much more in that of a young person. We must pray that God protects her as only he can. He has provided her a protective and supportive family to help guide her journey and growth. Let us all watch the miracle unfold.
