This is the very first video I found that shows how to roll the yarn onto the spools so that it doesn't unravel - thank you so much for that!!!

Hi sactowngold1, Originally kumihimo was an art practiced in Japan, and, you guess correctly, for parade, religion, ceremonies. These days kimihimo is practiced by people the world over, and, the braids uses are as diverse as the practitioners. Thanks for your comment and question!

Thanks for the question! I have added the clasps to the kumihimo page (link is in description above, I can't paste it here). I also added a link in the description to the clasps directly.

That looks like great fun! Great relaxation. I just wonder if one could get that built so that it might be easier on the back. What are those braids used for? Parade, religion, ceremonies?

Yes, yes...this is very interesting. Thank you so much for sharing...I used to do a lot of braiding. This reminds me of that..You know, bull whips. Right on, this is cool. I like it and I will be back for more.

This is wonderful. We are new to this technique. I wish that you would have shown a closeup of what the flat braid looks like. As well as perhaps a link to any pattern books that you may sell. Otherwise this was a great overview!

I have posted a link to the Kumihimo books we carry above in the description. Of those books, "Japanese Braiding - The Art of Kumihimo" is great for getting started. Sorry for the delay in responding - haven't monitored youtube comments enough. Thanks for the question!
