I am thinking of getting a marudai and the photos in the books just confused me. This is very clear. Also as an elementary school teacher I applaud your emphasis on physically doing things over and over to really get the feel for it.

Thank you, Michael. Such a beautiful, almost meditative, technique.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughtful and positive comments. I'm thrilled that the video is proving to be helpful! I do plan to make more, but I don't know when I will have the time....but stayed tuned!

Thank you so much for showing the correct way to handle the tama. I will have to review my own method and correct any mistakes. Looking forward to more videos.

Michael, thank you so much for doing this. It will be an invaluable aid to those making the transition from Mobdai (disc) to Marudai (stand). Those with Jacqui Carey's Japanese Braiding - TheArt of Kumihimo can follow your movements using her 8 tama square and then later the 8 tama round - looking forward to more

Thank you! I'll have to watch myself next time since I learned from pictures and watching other videos, but none of those made the technique that clear. Looking forward to your upcoming videos!

    Bonjour Michael,

I am very new to kumihimo and the murudai. I very much appreciate Michael's demonstration as my first, and proper, way to handle the threads. Invaluable, and to be watched a few times before I actually have my murudai. Thank you.

Your videos have been so helpful and inspiring! Do you think you could eventually make one where you could share sets of movements for a more complex pattern than the typical simple 8-16 cord patterns found online? I can't seem to find any traditional ones like that

Would you have any suggestion from whom I should buy a Marudai? From what I have found there seems to be only one company, on EBay, that has the market. Are these mostly made from one company or are there several companies I can look at? The company says these are made in the U.S. I live in the U.S., in Georgia. If you feel you can offer me some help on buying one, but prefer not to show it on CZcams, just send me a message where I can send you my email address. I would so very much appreciate your help.
