      Hmm, this reminds me that one of Geoff Johns' early stories, in the Flash, saw Wally West take down the Top in one kick. You could pretty much say that was an early case of SJW-style tactics in motion, circa 2003. The whole tale was very dumb, with the Top getting a power to screw up people's eyesight so they'd vomit; it was all disgusting shock value steps. One more reason I will never read Geoff Johns' work ever again, and don't get me started on an issue of Avengers he wrote in 2003 set in Las Vegas where Whirlwind tried to assault Wasp in a way I'd rather not describe.

      Eh, I don't like to go assigning "left" and "right" to stuff, because it usually always makes people dig their heels with "us vs them" tribalism crap.
      Opportunist assholes will try to glob onto trends for personal gain. Ideologue zealots will try to radicalize and stamp out critical thinking of the same. This happens with every belief system and nobody should ever have their head so far up their own ass that they think it can't happen to "their side".
      Hell, I'm a progressive commie pinko who hates Trump, and even I can't stand this SJW nonsense. Think of it this way: if this was Christianity, SJWs would be The Catholic League or The Moral Majority.

    • @royrogers7349
      @royrogers7349 Před 6 lety +9

      Daniel Crecca Not only infuriating but also shocking. Having character height charts is one of the first things animators must learn and respect.
      Another thing that is also relevant is that Steven Universe will have a more broad audience if they got rid of all those Beach City episodes and went straight to the homeworld story ark.
      You can trust me on that, I recommended Steven Universe to a bunch of relatives that like that kind of Tv shows, they told me later that although the show concept was interesting, most of the early episodes were so random that they didn't hook them. Which is not surprising.
      Most of the people I know who like Steven Universe is because they are very interested in the mysteries surrounding the Gems homeworld and the War for planet earth.

    • @LuisGonzalez-ki6uz
      @LuisGonzalez-ki6uz Před 6 lety +6

      Exactly, and let's face it, the most defining moment of the show was "Stronger than you", that's when most people became fans because it had action, an actual threat was introduced, the story seemed to finally have a direction...and now it's all singing and crying, with boring filler episodes and they just keep pushing the actual plot to the background and it makes me feel like they're just gonna wrap things up in a quick and unsatisfying way.

    • @royrogers7349

      julio victor manuel schaeffer manrique Beach city and its citizens had outlived their usefulness. Aside for Lars and Greg they don't add anything interesting to the show.
      If I was the head writer of SU I would bring Yellow Diamond to earth and made her fight the crystal Gems with her troops wiping out Beach city on the process.
      Then put the citizens on a bus by sending them to Pink Diamond's human zoo for the rest of the series. Until the series finale.

    • @Wyllowisp

      The plot was began to be great when they started to focus on the Diamonds and the Gems plot, but then it goes back to slice of life with townies...?
      What? That really out me off.
      I honestly don’t care if the Creators are SJWs or not, the show doesn’t illustrate that one bit and the “lesbian” vibe isn’t thrown at your face, it’s subtle enough.
      I really enjoyed SU, so much that seeing Steven going back to see townies after leaving Lars alone stuck in a different planet was mind-boggling.
      And the size charts... I mean yeah, Peridot is the smallest thing ever now, but with the amount of screen time she gets, doesn’t really matter that much now.

But I don’t like when it’s a huge part of the show. We get it, gay people are a thing. But are they really that common? I know about four gay people, and one of them I didn’t know until it came up incidentally. I worked with Ross (not his real name) for a couple of years and had no idea he was gay. He’s just a guy, you know? I don’t care what he does in his free time. Who gives a crap? If he’s happy, eh, whatever.
      Ross earned my respect as a person, not as a gay person. That’s stupid.

    When I see the cover, I think that the chubby girl in the foreground is not drawn chubby just for diversity. I notice that on her pants it's written Taurus, so I think there was more thought put into her design than just 'diversity', I would design a Taurus character heavier, because you don't see a frail skinny bull in real life, they're like wrecking machines, like tanks, and this girl looks like she can wreck. And she even has horn shaped hairstyle. That's just my guess, I saw this comic for the first time on this video. Sorry for my English, I'm not a native speaker.

      Were it me, I'd have just had her be a character who works out a lot and is only slightly overweight (say 20lbs). Could make for some interesting moments too, where she's frustrated that she needs to lose "a measly twenty pounds" but can't seem to do it and she doesn't know for sure if it's the second helping she had at lunch or a curse due to her powers.

    I keep saying this to people, there is a reason why things are stereotypes in comics and stories because they work, they are iconic, and they connect people. Think about no matter how much the SJW lot that are currently infecting comics try to start off their stories with crap like 'YAS GIRL!' and 'Oh Hey there!' Those will never be as iconic as 'Previously on...' or 'Last time in..' or even to make it so much more simple 'Once Upon a Time.'

    Back in the day there were some shows that looked a lot like this. There was this trend of making a girl show for every boy show around. It all started with *She-Ra Princess of Power* which was paired alongside reruns of *He-Man and the Masters of the Universe* . Then came *Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders* which was paired alongside reruns of *King Arthur and the Knights of Justice* . Then *Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic* which is the one I think it looks the most like this and oddly enough it was the only stand alone project, and finally there were the *Sky Dancers* which were paired alongside *Dragon Flyz* reruns.

    I picked this series up couple years ago, it was in production during Steven Universes production so they don't draw inspiration from them. I also picked up a comic called Wolf (if you like unique colour contrast and art I definitely recommend it) and another called Rocket Girl which had those highly detailed backgrounds with that diversity flair. The last comic I picked up was a Justice League comic which I ended up cutting out the panels I liked and threw away. Pretty bland.

    Honestly, read My Hero Academia. Sure it has the stereotypical high school setting, but the author actually writes about the implications of having a school for future superheroes and being targeted by villains. Plus, the main character and top hero have one of the best passing of the torch story lines in writing. And, given time, many of the background characters become fleshed out. And it handle a daddy issues storyline amazingly as well.

    read the entire series and it's good. Hell the token lesbian couple doesn't shove it in everyone's faces. They treat it like.... any other relationship, something SJWs fail to do. And Kim/Taurus did something I wish more heroes do. Tell her boyfriend she's a superhero thereby giving him a heads-up involving monster attacks. Also Libra had to deal with the fact that she's replacing a beloved deceased member of the British team. And prove herself to them especially to Virgo.

    • @yamiblade
      @yamiblade Před 6 lety +1

      Let me rephrase. The issue with lesbian relationships in comics done by SJWS is...they make it 100% one or both ladies' character traits. They also have a tendency to act like only gay relationships are good and anyone who's straight must be some kind of bigot or is delusionally in the closet. Not here though. They introduce Lily fairly early and she and Savi start off as friends, only hooking up near the end of the first arc in a believable manner...well as believeable as demonic possession and then when broken by your soon to be girlfriend, you become a magical girl too. And in the second arc (which this comic is the climax of) their relationship is not the end all be all of their characters. Hell more focus is put on Lily trying to get use to her new role as Libra and proving she's a worthy successor to the previous Libra, who was a respected member of the UK team who died in the line of duty. On the straight side, Kim's relationship with her boyfriend Josh is Never treated as a negative thing. As I mentioned before she not only Told him she's Taurus, but the worse reaction we get is Molly gagging whenever they get too loveydovey. And hillarious Emma (the pink haired girl and leader of the team) dumped her soyboy boyfriend at the begining of the second arc....and hooked up with Jack/Leo, A FUCKING WHITE MALE TM! And a compadent at that! Is...that still allowed?

    Seeing this stuff makes me happy.
    I've been feeling insecure about my own comic over this issue. I fear it comes off SJW-esc because of the headstrong androgynous girl and the fact that the male character is considered useless. I didn't think about it until it drew in quite a few readers who market themselves as various 'other' genders and sexualities. The average joe probably won't touch it with a 10-foot-poll, lol.
    As soon as the masculine characters start showing up and the romances all turn out to be hetero, my Tumblr-type readers will jump ship. Ah well. :P We're free to draw what we want in our little nooks of the internet.
