I think the most elite special forces are the ones no one knows exists
JTF2 kinda enter in this category, except for the part that we all know the name of their group, we know close to no shit about their feats and accomplishment.
I’m sure most nations have those, there’s probably a team you learn about once you get into SF if you excel

Special Air Service (22), the Special Reconnaissance Regiment and the Special Boat Squadron; with support by the Special Forces Support Group (SFSG); the major element of which s 1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (1 PARA), reinforced with a company of Royal Marines and specialists from the RAF Regiment. (SFSG provide the extra firepower from land or air to ensure fulfillment of any SF mission.)
Would win any ground and sea war they went up against
Cream of the crop.
All tier one units practice with live ammo, including room clearance with live personnel acting as hostages. It's to build trust with one another and to demonstrate that they can kill all the bad guys and none of the good guys. It's extreme, and is only done after repeated demonstration of their competence, but is necessary. I would want to be with guys that can do the mission under that pressure as well, in practice before going after hostiles. It probably also helps weeds out the guys who can't make their headshots before the live people are in the room due to the pressure of knowing the requirements in the end. I'm simply recounting what I've read (Rob O'Neil, Pete Blaber, Tom Satterly and many, many other first hand accounts).
In that case you'd need inside info on every single tier one group in the world, which you don't.
The best special force in the world is ME, sneaking from the bedroom to the living room where the Playstation is, after putting my wife to sleep and successfully play an hour and coming back to bed. She didn’t realise this for months. If I fail, remember me I died for a purpose, brothers.

"a seal, a ranger and delta operator walk into a bar.
the delta orders a shot of whisky, the ranger a beer, and the seal writes a book about it."
And the guy serving at the bar was SAS, had been there for over a week and already collected all the necessary intel.
Then the Pakistan black storks raided the bar and killed everyone

Being a Canadian, I can tell you truthfully that the public knows virtually nothing about JTF2. They don't publicize anything they do. Occasionally something shows up in the news, as is inevitable, but the US Navy SEALS get written about in the media _a lot_ more than JTF2. It is known where their base is in Ontario, or rather where some of them work out of, but virtually nothing else is known here in Canada. I have read that the American special forces like working with them because they know what they are doing, and with that you have basically exhausted my knowledge of them. And I think JTF2 likes to keep it that way.
What about JFT2?

At the very end of the GIGN selection and training, the recruits have to pass the « Trust shot » (« Tir de confiance » in French). Their instructors basically stand in front of the recruit at 25 meters with a reinforced body armor and a target on the center of it, the recruit has to hit the target with a revolver. It basically shows the instructor saying « We’re at the end of training, to me I trained you right. I now trust you. Prove me I’m right. ». Every single GIGN operators passed this « Trust shot ». It can seem a little odd, but that’s how they do the thing and it proved its efficiency for decades now.

Gordon Ramsay was a special forces chef.
In 1992 a group of terrorists took over the USS Missouri intent on stealing the ship's nuclear arsenal. They failed, however, to account for the intervention of the ship's chef.
Perfeito. No Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, tem o BOPE. Todo dia eles entram numa guerra particular nos morros da cidade.
No matter what country, these special forces are all absolutely badass beyond what most of us can even begin to comprehend
That scene where GROM operators stand between the targets isnt their training. The GROM tradition is that every new guy has to stand between the targets. It shows the trust that you have to your friends and that you are ready to give your life to accomplish the mission.
Margaret Thatcher and some of her colleagues went through the same thing in the SAS killing house. I don't know if they still do it as part of the VIP protection training. It again comes back to trust. Reputedly she didn't bat an eyelid, because she had complete faith in them doing their job properly, hitting the simulated hostiles, and not the VIPs standing between them.
Re: standing between targets that are being shot at: great way of showing how trust is on both sides of this practice is great... or not!
What I want to know is where do the bodies go when the shooter sneezes or gets a cramps at that exact moment?
The night before would be a great time to ensure your Will's are up to date😉
@@JD-7792 if operator sneezes or get a cramp during such moment, it means there was mistake during recruitment of such person. Those soldiers are meant to be perfect in such situations. Thats their craft.
@@marcinb7390 no body is perfect 100% of the time.
@@Si74l0rd that claim was first made by Andy McNabb (or whoever really wrote the book) in Bravo Two Zero. Given that the SAS admit they are human and that their branch suffers from equipment failure like the rest of the British Armed Forces, what is the practical purpose of putting a person, much less the leader of the Nation, next to targets in a live-fire exercise ? Answer: There is no practical purpose. The benefits supposedly gained by training this way do not justify the risk of the PM or H.R.H. taking a bullet between the eyes. Margaret Thatcher may have visited the "Killing House" and observed training, but that's as close as she got to the hot end of a SAS rifle.
"In 1972, a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them....maybe you can hire The A-Team."

GSG9 belongs to the German police force, not the military. The military's special forces are KSK
Yeah many People dont get this, i guess. SEK and GSG 9 are Police Forces and the KSK is the Special Unit that belong to the Bundeswehr.

About the GIGN revolver: this is MR73 model. The gun was designed for them, it has been test proofed to 300 000 shot of .357 Magnum, and each gun is factory tested for accuracy. It has been in use for a long time but today it’s more a weapon for tradition. You won’t see it in operation anymore. Today you can see the MR73 like a M1 Garand or M14 for some parade units.
GIGN being a police force doesn’t operate only against terrorist. GIGN speciality is to arrest people who snapped a wire, and maybe took their family hostage without killing them. They manage to arrest a lot of these guy with a single shot of .357 in the shoulder or things like that.
So a lot of emphasise is put in the group on accuracy shooting.
So the firing with MR73 is called “tir de confiance” or “trust shot”.
This isn’t a regular training but more a ritual with a traditional weapon when they end the long training and are accepted in the group.
The "trust shot" shows that they can completely rely on their operators. During an assault, you have completely confidence in the man behind you.
Both correct, a GIGN operator explained it like that in a "interview". Also the revolver is their "symbol". It's not a weapon they prefer in a firefight, they just carry it.
Copy and paste?
I just saw gun Jesus do a video of that MR73 a while back. It is a top shelf revolver. France had rather have a unique French made weapons over a proven weapon platform and they have ended up with some goofy shit because of it. This isn’t one of those but it is different. There used to be a saying in the auto industry that “the French copy no one and no one copies the French.”
SAS are the best 100%
Delta was created by the SAS.
They all do the same stuff. The biggest difference is the funding that goes into these units. The GIGN operator shooting his buddy with a revolver is called “le tir de confiance” (French for “trust shot”). It closes the training course and is meant to seal the trust that GIGN operators have in each other. The Canadian and American forces are quite familiar with each other. 26 Canadians have been awarded Bronze Stars in Afghanistan for instance.

Knew a special forces unit commander in the States when I lived there. He had nothing but good things to say about the SAS/SBS having been trained by them. He thought USSF training was hard until he came to Britain.

French GIGN use revolvers as a side arm, typically MR73. With hollow points, DEVGRU6, used to but I'm unsure if they still do. There's high power loads, so when they need to neutralise, 100% certain, it's not a bad choice, even though it doesn't have the ammo of your Glocks 17 19 etcThe French marksman course is as tough as it gets, groundbreaking. With being a colonial power once, it has potential hostage scenarios, pan-global. The cons of using a revolver for the GIGN was the double action but Manhurin resolved that by offering a single action which allowed rapid fire while still achieving match precision. Hence why it was selected as main handgun of the GIGN. It was in the 70s and remained through the age as it proved its efficiency in some emblematic interventions of the GIGN.
The part where the GIGN shoots a clay disk on their comerades chest is to build trust and is symbolic within the GIGN
7:00 confidence shot is not for television. U know what is like being shot at, and to shot somebody. And u do this with ur bro.
Similar to the Malaysian (I think) SF snipers that test with their spotter taking turns holding balloons by their head or body and the other has to snipe the balloon.
A test of nerve and trust for them both
@@DawgBreff Nope. You guys don't understand. That's exactly how they'd operate when door kicking and shooting inside a room with a hostage inside. The hostage rescue team with be shooting at lines that are inches from their teammates.
No such thing as the best unless you have a criteria. They're all badass.
I will say the UK SAS are at least one of the best. There's a video of a single SAS soldier in jeans on holiday taking over a hostage scene in Africa, he's running into a building by himself to take out the terrorists - they're pretty fearless.
He wasn't on holidays. He was a private operator located locally.

Dick Marcinko was issuing Colt Pythons in the early days of Seal Team 6. As for putting friendlies down range, the Brits have used dignitaries (Margret Thatcher, Prince Charles) in the kill houses when assaulting targets.
Regarding shooting the guy in the armor. I'm a rock climber and I take lead falls on purpose sometimes to build confidence in my protection. Yes, I have extra gear backing up the test placement when I do that but I wonder if this could be the same kind of thing?
1:40 I like how she says JTF2 and then says “JFT2” 😂
might actually be a super super secret force
According to the lady the most special of special forces are measured by who takes the most push-ups and run fastest. 😂
that's why everyone thinks the SEALS are the best when in reality they are extremely elite but not the most elite
@@nickfinns8162 Its an impossible thing to compare because it depends on so many factors. As a normal conscripted soldiers in Norway we beat the British SAS at snowy winter operation in the mountains. Dont think we would have done it in the dessert or in the jungle or in the summertime. So being most elite is a bit childish concept and shows lack or real knowledge of the military.
@@korsveien the concept of being the best has been around for millennia, and the facts are that there are military forces that are overall better trained in overall combat making them more elite than others. A common military comparison in America is the Marine Corps to the Army Rangers. They are extremely similar but in the end, the Rangers are more elite due to higher physical standards and more training. The reason I said the Seals are not the most elite is that while they operate on land, air, and sea their training has more emphasis on the sea. So why is it so wrong to suggest that a certain group of people are better than others at special operations?
I like u.k special forces set up. Sas and sbs with special signallers (communicators) plus the srr (intelligence) which work with mi5 national and mi6 international. Also the special forces support are the royal commandos, paratroopers, RAF and pathfinders. I dunno it's more simple then America. There's like 6 teir 1s 10 tier 2 in america. Also in america do they have like a base equivalent to uksf or is it all over the place.

6:40 The moment the guy is shooting his friend is called the “trust shot”, every man get trough this in the initial training. The idea is to strengthen the trust you have with your teammates by giving them the responsibility to shoot you at the right spot and then it’s your turn to shoot the guy in return. I don’t think it’s “dumb” like you said.
This revolver is also very symbolic for the GIGN, it’s the one they used on the field when the unit was created but they surely don’t use it anymore today.
Idk man sounds pretty sus, especially for “initial” training. Doesn’t seem smart to shoot near you buddy when you don’t have much experience
@@jbg7163 No, most recruits that are chosen for GIGN have years of experience. It's not just something you "sign up" for. You're required to be active duty Gendarme and pass through very strict selections. Also, they are not military. They're a police group.
Parallex oh thanks for the info. I don’t know much about GIGN

@@ereder1476 Sure they're under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Interior but they're still primarily a police force though. They're technically a military group but France's police force is far different than most countries as it's National Police is primarily civilian operated unlike the National Gendarmerie. Which is operated by the military and GIGN is a child agency of that. Yes, technically a military organization but they work closely with the National Police. National Gendarmerie tends to operate in rural areas more so than the other police force
Operação Traíra, in Brazil. That's some nice subject to talk about.
The Spetznaz Alpha training may not make much sense to some, but it instills a high level of trust between operators.
"The best special forces are the ones no-one has heard of until its too late" this is true
In fact, for the GIGN, they shoot on theyre instructor for proving him their aim ability, and the instructor do it for prove his entire faith in his recrutes.

Force Recon #1. They not only are the most elite of Marines. They go through Navy Seal training in San Diego, California, & earn their silver scuba bubbles, then go to Ft. Benning Georgia to Army Ranger training to earn their gold wings. Going through Army Rangers & Navy Seals training & being Marines going through their own training. Force Recon
There are only two units that are paramount. The Israeli Sayeret and the SAS. It's not because of the tech or support. It's the individual capacity. The Sayeret can deploy deep enemy countries singly or as a unit. An example of the SAS is the incident in Kenya with that one SAS trooper on the scene. Think of those two units as the needle. The rest are just big f daggers.
PJ’s, because even Delta and the SEALS sometimes call 911 😂

Agreed, I think the reason PJs and SF didn’t make the list is because this is more of a direct action unit top 10 list, otherwise PJs have to be number 1.

The GIGN is actually known for having members carrying revolvers, one of the only units using it I believe. And they shoot each others as part of a trust test apparently.
@Duke Of Wellington What a stupid reply, they have to trust that their comrades won't shit themselves if they have to take a close shot. In the Gulf war, 25% of American casualties were friendly fire.

Au 1er et au 13 t'as des mecs de 18 ans.
Et à Lorient tu as même des mousses en filière fusco qui doivent attendre 18 ans pour faire leur première mission ops.
