פּאַול, אַ זשורנאַליסט פֿון אַנטװערפּן דערקלערט פֿאַרװאָס און װי אַזױ ער איז געװאָרן פֿאַראינטערעסירט און האָט געלערנט ייִדיש. ער דערקלערט אױך װי אַזױ ער איז אױך געװאָרן אַ לערער פֿון דער ייִדישער שפּראַך.
The word is gekrogn. It's the past tense of the verb "krign" which means to "receive or obtain" but in this case is closer to get. It's one of those weird verbs where there's a vowel shift in the past tense.
Gewonnen also exists in Yiddish and is similar in meaning but is a different verb and is a lot less common than "krign"

Nah he says the past thense of gekrogen (sorry can't write yiddish) but my dialect swiss german bernese accent is very similar to yiddish
it was Yiddish culture cos of many circumstances this culture with land and people were disappeared
Why do jews don't speak yiddish nowadays? Yiddish always a mama loshn of all azkhenazi jews and, after, renegates yiddish such a bad language. In my opinion, Israel could be 3 official languages: hebrew, yiddish and ladino.
