    Hey Doodle. I continue to watch you. My choice is the Cherahola Skyway. Many years ago I described it as the most dangerous road in the southeast. The awesome sweepers will draw you in to the exhilaration of cornering at speed while the awesome views draw your attention to the landscape. You can't do both, choose wisely.
    FYI, I was one of your instructors in slow tight turns at MSF Alpharetta. I am so happy to see you continuing your pursuit of motorcycling. You are one of my proudest memories. You got the box. Billy

      I just did the Million Dollar Highway this past Sunday. We started in Ouray and went south to Silverton. So we were riding on the cliff side. It is an uneasy feeling looking that far down while on a motorcycle lol.

    I'm surprised at some of the ones that didn't make the list. Colorado's Million Dollar Highway, Beartooth Pass, the Devils Triangle in Tennessee, the Mt. Washington Auto Road in New Hampshire, Pike's Peak. I'd replace the Cherohala Highway with US 276 between Maggie Valley and Travelers Rest, as well.

      Because this is just a CZcams content creator trying to make revenue by posting content with catchy titles. Actually leaving out many roads helps create comments. The more comments the better for CZcams revenue.

    Let's add the Chief Joseph Highway as well.... way better than some that were mentioned. Another one that should make the list is US 14 through the Bighorn Mountains. Several of my other favorites have already been mentioned.

    Hwy 4 in California from markleeville to Arnold has some of the best views and sharpest turns I have ever been on. This road goes from a 2 lane to basically a single track highway. And be very aware of the turns as you switch back up the mountain because there are no guardrails with 1000 foot drops if not more. Do this one both ways to really get the full adventure. Very easily done in a day.

    It's interesting that you included the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, although I think you may have gotten it confused with the nearby James River Drawbridge. It's the James River bridge that is 4 miles long, as you described, and you could opt to use nearby tunnels instead, as you described. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is actually more like a series of bridges and two underwater tunnels strung together that span about 18 miles total, and there is no other reasonable option that connects to the Eastern Shore of Virginia. In any case I agree that it is interesting to cross it, by car or bike. There is a toll to cross it, but if you start at the south end, cross the whole thing going north and then turn around at the "Chesapeake Bay Bridge Scenic Overview" then you can cross it back again going south without repaying the toll. I've done this a couple times over the years just to enjoy the scenery. Even if some of the details are off, it's still nice to see videos like this, to spur ideas on interesting places to ride.

    • @stlchance
      @stlchance Před měsícem

      It can be scary, especially if you've got fears of either open water or wide open spaces, or if the wind is up. And, due to the bridge segments, it's a real spine crusher on a bike - ka-thump, ka-thump, ka-thump!

    Skyline Drive is not scary except for the weekend crowds and strict enforcement of the 35 MPH speed limit. There is a gas station halfway at Big Meadows Wayside. Although the gas pumps can be unreliable due to power outages. Take a detour off the drive to ride US-211 which is one of the entrances to the park. Great curves on US-211.

    How about the million dollar hyway in Colorado?

  • @grumpyoldretiredcop8382

    Highway 50 isn't scary in the motorcycle technical sense. It's only scary if your bike isn't in good condition and/or if you forget to bring water in case you do break down. There aren't as much curves as there is straight line across the high desert. Highway 1 between Mill Valley and Bodega Bay comes closer to qualifying as "scary", especially on a summer weekend when flatlander tourists can't manage to stay on their side of the road.

    All 3 Dragon roads are great, third and newest is on Highway 160. I am just leaving Elkhart Ky and this small area has almost endless amounts of killer roads. Plenty of gas. Highways 80, 83. Perfect pavement, banked corners, quick left/rights. The switchbacks on 160 are a riot. 611 is a lane and a half of fresh tar cut trough a dense forest,. Endless corners and slower paced, very technical. Get off Google Maps and get a paper Delorme map, easily a weeks worth of driving. Not much traffic, no cell service unless your in a town. Put on new tires before you go...

    I don't like to drive the Tail of the Dragon. I just like to sit at the end and look at all the cars going through. I have a Miata and I've driven it twice, to many moron drivers/bikers on that road that don't understand that crossing yellow lines isn't cool. Also, one thing bikers (mainly rocket bike riders) don't seem to grasp is that while yes, their tires are on their side of the yellow line their HEAD is leaning two feet into MY lane.
    In my local area after many people got tired of being ran off the road by disrespectful drivers and bikers at the Devils Whip (Hwy 80 north), the locals stopped busting tires and crap out looking out for said types of people. Sport picture takers got ran off and if you come around a curve with your head (or car) in the wrong lane, be prepared to eat grill because people have stopped hitting the ditch for you.

    I'm not very impressed with this "dangerous" list. These roads make the list because they are popular and well traveled.
    There are Plenty of less traveled roads that are much more dangerous. And that's why they're less traveled, they're dangerous and mostly used by locals.

    • @stlchance
      @stlchance Před měsícem

      Well, it's titled "scariest", not "dangerous". "Scary" is a reputation thing, as opposed to a fact-based thing (like the number of accidents or deaths). There are lots of things that may be scary while, at the same time, being relatively safe.

    • @jonmulack4226
      @jonmulack4226 Před měsícem +1

      It was the scariest, not most dangerous. Driving freeways in big cities is the most dangerous imo. Higher concentration of poor drivers.
