Im procrastinating watching this video
Haha, Vianney Pinto. Don't put off the inevitable.
There are get procrastination affirmations on Growing Forever and the other channel, Trigram Healing. Both are very helpful.

Me too!!!!
lol me too. It just gets cluttered up right after it's done - a never ending kill joy. One the dishes are done, they get dirted up again. It's never really 'finished', is it.
If my house feels clean my mind feels clean. I feel happier and feel more at peace. I’ve been decluttering for the past 2 days, and my MIND has begun to feel de cluttered.
Dena Palacios - Sounds great. Good luck - keep going.
Yes Dena - amazing how our space mirrors our mental space. DrPaul
You're absolutely right, but when faced with having to do it, I have to drag my heart around with me as I tackle it. My daughter said housework steals a little piece of my soul every time I do it.
I dont get happiness or joy either way. It actually makes me sad knowing it's going to get dirty right afterwards. So all the hard work I did was for nothing
Thank you. I didn't have chores when I was a kid. At age 30, I am still learning to be an adult. Thank you for this. I'm going to go clean my bathroom.
You rock BattyGhoul - never too late to learn stuff! DrPaul
That’s sad

my cat just died and then I realized how cluttered my house is and how much things are messed up. I love my cat and now I just want to throw everything away.
@@lisacurtis8162 aww Lisa I am so terribly sorry ❤
Losing a beloved pet is like losing a best friend and it is so hard to go through day to day life not having your literal sidekick. I hope you are doing well and just know that your fur baby had a good life with you and will absolutely see you again one day💕🌈🐾
Sometumes i watch hoarders and it motivates me because the "after" scene is so nice. When things are all in order and washed.
rainy day, it does feel good.
I watch 'How Clean Is Your House" for tips and to take refuge that there are worse housekeepers than I am out there.

@@anstriagreenwood3365 thank you so kindly
I lost my daughter 3 years ago and motivation left too. Thank you for helping me.
I can't even imagine what it would be like to lose a child. Please accept my sincerest condolences. I'm glad the video helped. Thanks for being at Live On Purpose TV, Mae Barr.
God bless you and send you peace 🙏🕊️...
Indeed to Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return.
We all belong to God. No matter what name we call Him.
I agree with what your saying except for one thing. I have a house full of people who come right behind me and unclean as I go.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention April that it doesn't STAY clean - not for those who carry the title "Mom" anyway.
April Phister it's depressing. I don't know if I can get motivated anymore. Tempted to just burn it down some days.
Me too! :(
I remember Dr. Phil saying "We teach people how to treat us." Set some rules as you are in charge. I always told my children they didn't make a mess at school and leave it, so I wasn't putting up with it at home.
My mum says this all the time.
I'm ignoring the Dirty Dishes, and imaging they are all clean, while watching this video. 🤣🤣🤣
I hope it worked.
Doing same thing, but it's the floors!
Doing same thing but it's piles of rubbish and trash and floors and clothes and dish's 😢
I can lay back and chill when I have a clean space , when my house is clutterd my mind is clutterd!
Shar-lana Davis, I hope the video is helpful.
I feel mentally at ease when my house is clean. Having a clean sink just makes you feel better!
That's The Fly Lady's whole point in starting with "Shine Your Sink". Thanks for being here Deidra! DrPaul
What a relief! Finally, some sense and clarity. I just finished watching another video, 45 mins on how to clean your house in 10 mins. Oh, the absurdity! 😱
Glad it helped!
I am currently deep cleaning while listening to this. Normally when I deep clean, I avoid hidden areas but this time I even cleaned out my cabinets. I plan to clean every place that intimidates me.
You rock! So much ahead for you, I'm excited you are open to tackling these places, such a metaphor.
I avoid pain when I don't clean up, because I have hypermobility syndrome. However, I still want a clean house, and it's me who's likely to get it that way, just limited in my capabilities. Someone gave a good piece of advice once, they said, "Change your 'to do' list to a 'get to do' list". That small shift in attitude can make a big difference.
For sure Teri - attitude and perspective are everything. DrPaul
I have found adapting flyladies 15 minute timer helps. I set the timer for 15 minutes and clean until it goes off. I set it for another 15 and rest, then repeat. It keeps me moving but not over doing it . It's a slower method but starting for me is the hardest part.
that´s my motivation, the pleasure of a tidy, fresh place to live. Not easy, I have 9 months since I stared de cluttering , still a long way to go. Thank you dr. love the video.
It probably took longer to get the house cluttered than 9 months so keep at it, Sebastian Ramirez Gonzalez.
My mother always said "It is easy to clean a clean house." She said a maid could clean a hotel, because she did it daily, so she never allowed things to get a mess. My mother didn't allow us to be slobs. We had a place for everything, and everything was put in it's place.
I love that saying, Jibbie49. It really works to start training very young. Habits stick.
Holy crap! I think this man’s on to something deep. I’m trying this.
Melody Making Melodies, let us know how it goes.
Update: I deep cleaned my entire apartment today, it was very rewarding and I feel like a big weight was lifted off of my shoulders.
That is awesome, it does feel good, so good.
Man, this guy gets it. Hes good at really understanding your perspective and thoughts, and then helping you shift your thoughts in a way that makes sense to you!
Thank you, Mary.
There is some simple yet kind of hidden subtle Jedi mind tricks here that I really admire

I get overwhelmed sometimes
msmuniz23, we all get overwhelmed, take it a little at a time.
I live with a semi-hoarder which undoes my cleaning 24/7. I am so exhausted after work as well. Asking them to help doesn't work, so I find myself thinking I give up! Still, I want to live in a clean and organized home. 😂
Thanks for sharing!! This is a different problem than in the video. Perhaps you can have a space to yourself that you can keep organized and doesn't get touched by anyone else. To get to the root of the problem the other person will need some professional help.
The way I see it , clean your house and pretend your getting paid just like at your job ! So you trick your mind your getting a reward , and when you stand back and look back after what you have done, your payment is there when you to stand back and look at your house and enjoy and be proud of what you've done !
Well said, it might work for some people.
Greeeeeat advice!!!
Thank you so much for this!!! This is EXACTLY what I needed to hear!!! I can apply these principles to so much more than just cleaning my house!!! I'm so thankful that GOD led me to this channel!!! It has really been a blessing to me!!! ❤️ 🙏 🙌 😇

I wanted a video that had hype music & the slim jim guy yelling at me, saying, "JUST DO IT!!!." Instead, I got the video i needed. 😂
Chuck Good, glad we could meet up today and the video is helpful.
This video is brilliant. It actually touched on behavior modification techniques (a science used in many mediums but most known fot its application in animal training). In order to create behavioral change, before anything else, you need to manage the subjects motivation. Positive motivation must be higher than negative motivation. This is a fact. And this video explores how to tip that balance
H K, I always prefer positivity.
This is really a GREAT motivation video! It really helped me. Thank you! 🙏🏼
You are welcome, H❤️ME WITH HOLLY. Glad to have you at the channel.
I love the monsters inc. Figurines in the background lol
victoria stanford, me too.
I kept pausing the video to jump up and tidy something, very helpful info! I wasn't allowed to work around the house as a kid because I didn't automatically know how. I would get home from school and the house was clean. I never saw the process. I didn't know how to do laundry when I was out on my own, thankfully laundromat washers have directions on them.
Glad I could help! I hope everyone reads your comment and realizes that kids need to be taught. It isn't something that we automatically KNOW at age 18.
Thank you Dr. Jenkins.... I'm gonna try to see things from a new perspective & get motivated!😄
I love that you are teachable and willing to try new things, M. B.! Thank you, I am honored to be on your team.

My biggest struggle is beginning. Usually once I get started I will clean to the bitter end (however long it takes and however great a sacrifice it requires until I get it done). Can you please shed light on why I have so much trouble getting STARTED?
Katie Cousineau, maybe because it is exhausting for you? Try to set a time limit, you will clean for an hour, set a timer and be o.k. quitting where you are, reward yourself with some team reading or whatever you like to do. Break it up into chunks.
@@LiveOnPurposeTV Thanks so much for the tip...I really appreciate it!!
Well for my case, the answer for the why was pretty simple. I didn't have a strong reason to clean it even though I like the idea of having a clean house.
Most things that I accomplished in my life didn't come from my own desire if I really think about it. So cleaning for the only purpose to satisfy my own sake ain't a good reason. Therefore the Last time I cleaned the floor was close to 6 months ago. I got used to it and I was okay with that. I know from past experiences that cleaning it wouldn't give me any satisfaction, because again, it's just for me...
I might be a particular case because I always managed to get away with not having people to come home.
My house isn't Messy, but it's dusty and dirty and I'm fine with that .
But today, I had confirmation that someone will have to come home tomorrow. And now I naturally feel the need to clean everything.
For me , that's the only way to make me keep up with the cleaning, it's having people around. But most activites are done outside for me so that's the dilemma I'm facing
Ps : I have ADHD, and even though I would like to blame it on that, I don't think it is the major reason, not even close. I like to think that I just have other priorities and I can stay like that as long I'm not harming anyone other than myself
Thanks for commenting, Rko Intheface.
@@laqwannafranklin-caines4273 Thank you so much. The longer I read about this book the more it makes sense to me, even though I was sceptical and I still am a little, but it is really interesting. Thank you again, I'm more than likely going to order it very shortly

Im trying to find motivation/energy to clean up. This has been an issue my adult life. I do not know what started it.
Greg, you might consider talking to a psychologist if you want to find the root of the problem.
@@LiveOnPurposeTV I'm concerned about the cost. And there's a ton of different treatments. Don't know which one is ideal. I did most of the throwing out today. Still gotta physically clean. And try to find a place for things. Plus, anxiety clearly. It's mostly a motivation issue. I don't really care about the stuff. I just need something to push me in that direction which I do not have. Living alone; and I have no one to keep me accountable. I've tried; the last time I cleaned. But, seems I gotta rely on myself. Which is probably the healthiest way. I needed to take a break. Cleaned for about 3-4 hours; Maybe. I don't remember. Any idea which is the fastest way that would take the least treatment time. To minimize cost. My anxiety usually stops me from calling people. And medically I never had much luck with normal western medicine. I have had some therapy in my 20s but nothing to tackle this exact issue. Be nice if my parents did something when I was a kid. Ug. With shitty insurance and making 2 much for assistance. I'm in that area where I make 2 much and 2 little.
I was going to leave this video until you said the word Slave then it completely resonated with me. Wow bang hit the nail on the head. Thanks

Sarah Ahmed, wonderful!
This is not just motivation for cleaning, thank you!!
Yes, identify the principle and then it can be applied to other situations.
Wow. There is way more to this psychologically than I would have ever guessed. Fascinating lesson. Thank you
April D, it really lights me up. Thanks.
The fact that I’m willing to watch this video instead of clean my house is evidence that I need motivation. Maybe if I cook popcorn...
flxmkr, I love popcorn.
Live On Purpose TV - speaking of which, “they” are now linking the development of Alzheimer’s to microwave popcorn. It’s not about consuming it as it is about inhaling the fumes. I think it is connected to the butter, if I recall. I can’t remember.
Very helpful thank you
Our pleasure.
Ok this video spoke to me both about house cleaning and also exercising bc same concept applies
SPA, yes, I try to find principles and then we apply them to different situations.
this is the best one I had so far, reasons to convince myself to declutter.
Also, would like to learn more about the hurdle part. (the delayed pain that is hard to grasp?)is there a follow-up content about that?
I have talked about that in a few other videos because I have a model that I have developed that shows this. I will try to remember, they were done a while ago. Look at the playlist and see if something stands out.
When a video about house cleaning, helps you . . . avoid housecleaning...
Sure 😊, hopefully that only lasts until the end of the video and then you are inspired.
@@LiveOnPurposeTV Yes, it did! I followed the advice about doing one little thing so I cleaned my bathroom sinks and they looked so great so I was inspired to do more. Thanks!

Mercia UmKay, thank you.
I suffer with diagnosed ptsd. I have depression and panic disorder. When my house gets messy, it depresses me even more. And my issue is, if I cant do it perfect and bring something to finish after starting it, I dont feel like putting the effort into doing it. It's a vicious cycle. And I dont have the energy a lot of the time because I cant sleep. Whenever I do fall asleep, its from complete exhaustion. And then if I wake after only a couple hours, I'm wide awake. I want to talk to someone for therapy, but with the virus I don't know what to do. Sorry for venting. Just needed to release some stress.
Audrey Mai, there is a lots of therapy and coaching going on via zoom. I see the majority of my clients this way. There is help available. www.drpauljenkins.com.breakthroughcall.
Great Advice
Thanks, Roxie Thomas. I appreciate you watching.
It's just finding the energy after work. Very hard. I usually do 15mins each day. It shifts most stuff.
So true! Give yourself a break, then set the timer.
My aunt just called to bitch me out about my house.. like yea.. that’ll magically get rid of my sickness and make me not exhausted all day.. yup.
Weekend Normad, let her know that isn't helpful and what would be helpful for you.
Is there anything I can do whenever I want to clean but I’m not in the mood to because I have ADHD autism and Asperbergers So I tend to procrastinate and put it off but I really want to get motivated more what should I do?
As a viewer suggested, set a timer and work until that goes off. Then if you want to keep going, keep going.
Thanks.

halimarin, sounds like you are a great candidate for the time goal. Set a time to work on a project and go for it. You might end up deciding to work longer. You got this.

I'm weirdly motivated to do something right now eventho it's 3am, everyone's asleep and I'm also already lying in bed. I should rewatch this video on a daily basis. Maybe then I'll become productive ...
Chantal Brandes, strike while the iron is hot, if you are motivated at 3am, there is no time like the present.
@@LiveOnPurposeTV I just realised that I had my real name as an account name. Can you please edit the comment and erase it? I don't want it for everyone to see in the internet and only realised it because of this comment.
I'm only motivated mostly is when I have people coming over the weekend 🙋
shivi p, that always gets us moving at our house.
Word play which helps you mentally encourage yourself to do better.
Kat stephens, great idea.
Get into minimalism!
Jennifer Snow, it has some appeal. Definitely.
I clean my house like pristine then it gets messy in a week! I don’t know why I am always going through this cycle.
I just want order ), but I clean forget where I’ve put stuff and then to find it I turn my house upside down again.
Mrlistenandlearn, I was always taught that when something was missing to clean. It really works. Don't upend things to find something, put things in order and then you won't have to clean it up later. Cleaning is cyclical, things will get dirty and so we have to find ways to motivate ourselves to clean for those that it doesn't come naturally for.
Have back surgery awhile back and bending even a little I hurt and have to take a break. Also, I am unbalanced now and fearful of following. So, I have to hire someone to vacuum and mop. I always had a clean house in previous homes. But my health is a problem.
Terry Davis, I am glad you can get help with these things.
Please see about getting some physical therapy for your balance issues. It can help greatly.
“Shine your sink” has nothing to do with eating an elephant. If you shine your sink, it makes the rest of the house look very messy. So then you have to clean the counters...then the appliances...then the dining room...and living room...and mow the lawn...and clean your neighbor’s lawn...and clean the next state...etc
flxmkr, there really are no borders in your home.
Live On Purpose TV that’s exactly what I was saying.
I can think of SO MANY areas of my life where this applies. Hmmm!!!!
I love that you are thinking in terms of principles. The application can change, but the principle will help to move you along in your goals.
@@LiveOnPurposeTV Thank you for the encouragement!
So the maintenance man or unexpected visitors don't see my messy house and see me as a slob. I'm exhausted from my job and do a lot of crashing on the couch when I get home. Hopefully, if I can just get started after a short rest, then it helps.
Pam Mercury45, I wish you the best.
Choose to versus have to... That's just semantics. I don't GET TO do cleaning because it causes me pain. I also don't have energy. I am on disability. I can't afford to pay somebody to clean the house. So then that means I am choosing to live in a messy house. That is depressing. When you don't have money or health, you don't get to make choices. There is no one to help. They say they will, but then when I ask they say they are too busy
I wish you well.

i really need help. im 24 have ADHD and just can not for the life of me keep my apartment clean, i live in filth and its making me miserable, for sum resun i have magor problems with taking out the trash, like a mental block. oh what if pp se me with trach in my hand, it sounds so stupid but i cant win over it!
Shores, take it out at night when there are less people around. Keep thinking of ways until something works for you.
Yes i have thought of this but then i think if people se me take out track at night thats even more wierd. But yes i will try it! I clean it really fast if im having a girl over or if my landlord need to fix sumthing. Then ita done in 2 days, boom i clean for hours. Only get stuff done when ita life or death kinda.
Inventually you need to get it done
Good luck!
I do feel like a slave when I clean and my son and husband go right behind me and dirty it up :( I repeat clean so many times a day that it is exhausting and everyday I have to start over from top to bottom.
We need to get the family together for a family counsel on how the FAMILY is going to deal with the house. Personal responsibility is taught at a young age and your husband needs to model for your son to be responsible for himself. Start with him and brainstorm on how you want to present to your son, then get together and come up with a family plan, bowenfarm1.
Get a backbone and get them to clean up and not be slobs. You aren't your husband's maid. You have power in the bedroom, so use it.
I have a teen son and husband. Same story. It never ends.
@@Jibbie49 terrible advice. And sinful!

i lived in a childrens home growing up. i have been at this since eight years old. i dont want to clean. i personally want to see the men do the housework.
And there are some men out there that do it. Maybe you decide in your household that having a cleaning service is something that you want to do.
Flybaby I meant
got it.
No pleasure, No pain, now what? I don't feel anything and that's no joke. Null and void
Set a small goal and then take a break, then set another, you can do this.

@@LiveOnPurposeTV I think he means "I have to, because my Mom said 'I'm NOT kidding!' (smart Mom.)
I hate cleaning house, because every one else messes it up again right after. Its a boring cycle.
It seems monotonous to do something over and over again, but that is a big part of life, Audrey Mai. As our children grow, they should be taking care of their things more and more. The general rule is children should do for themselves what they can do. This means we feed them when young, then they feed themselves. We clean up after them and then they clean their own room or put dishes in the dishwasher. I may add this one to the topic development list.
You realize that you contradict yourself, right? Fear of pain is what motivates the slave. That said, the slave, by that measure, would work harder if we respond more to pain than pleasure.
Brandi Harvey Music, not necessarily, there is a psychological component to the process.
Does he even clean 😂 Does he walk the talk?
