      Tharoor is a brilliant mind. Thapar? Not so much. Just watch a bunch of his interviews. He is so rude, unprofessional and behaves more like a tabloid writer than a mainstream journalist.

    My wife is Konkani and I am Bengali. And we made sure that we spoke to our daughter only in our native tongue. She picked up both the languages and spoke in Hindi with her building friends and English at school. Now she is fluent in 4 and picking up Marathi

    Shashi Tharoor is such a knowledgeable and experienced person. People should get over his accent and vocabulary and really listen to what he has to say. India would be a far better place if people concentrated on his views and ideas. Maybe he should even get his books translated to Hindi for the North Indian people.

      And Shashi Tharoor will not go against Sonia Gandhi because she was the one who did rallies for shashi tharoor after he lost his seat to CPM candidate. Sonia Gandhi made him win that seat.
      If you look at his slogans that his supporters says "Sonia Gandhi jindabaad ,Shashi Tharoor jindabaad , UDF jindabaad" this is his slogan since 2004. Even their is a song with this slogan you can search for "shashi tharoor election song" you will find Soniaji's name first. Just check it out.
      His supporters vote for Congress not for shashi tharoorji . Yes shashiji is good but just search "Kerala General election" you will see congress won 11 out of 13 seats so Kerala votes for congress not for shashiji.
      As far as soniaji is concerned I think north indians don't have a reason to hate her they only hate her due to politicians.
      She is very good politician as compared to rahulji. She won her raibareli seat without any help of big politicians. I think you should also read about her istead of listening to Arnab who said Antonia maino instead of Sonia due to fear of defamation case.

    After hearing and going over from Shashi's words , he's just like any other person having lived on the lap of western luxury wanted to return back to the roots enjoy the Indian life which is why 2nd marriage with western lady didn't workout, and both Karan and Shashi seemed to enjoy each other's company and watching them is delightful

    I feel for my MP and the ways of life he has travelleled from the village of Tharoor at Palakkad in Kerala to criss crossing India and the world , then coming back to represent the Capital of Kerala in parliment .As a person who has interacted on numerous occassions on peoples issues from his office at Trivandrum I consider Mr Tharoor as a Genuine human being , at ease with the lowest as well as the high heeled ..he also exhibits an exceptional empathy towards ordinary people ( may be due to his long years with refugees issues at UN) ..He never come across as a man in a hurry to see you off , patient enough to show you why something wont work out in the circumstances existing and Try his best to be positive always..His personal life failings are no barometer to measure him any way ..I firmly believe Dr Sashi Tharoor has a long innings before him as a representative of People as well as an outstanding ambassador of India ..

    Karan's questions about Mr. Tharoor's accent was a good one. I've been curious about that myself, how come he acquired a British accent rather than an American one.
    Although, In some old interview I saw Mr. Tharoor did speak pretty darn amazing french. I thought it may be his inherent ability to pickup language and accent.

      @@tut7345 Because when Dr.Shashi Tharoor himself writes his autobiography he will himself reveal about his marriages and theirs success or failures ,it certainly inappropriate of a gentleman like Mr Thapar, that he is sleeping with women, he has married, yet it is Dr.Tharoor prerogative to write about his own marriages, whether he found happiness in it or was quite mesirable, also he belongs to a political party so political mud slinging is more.

    Every time when I use to listen to Shashi Tharoor, I always use to learn something whether it's vocabulary, morality and ethics, logic, manners, his experiences and pieces of knowledge, and many more. He is a bel esprit and charismatic figure having a great appeal to the public because of his outspoken and honest nature including his logic and wit, way of thinking, articulation, and eloquence. India and Indians are great to have this soul.

    A delightful interview. Respectful, eloquent, a bit naughty and humourous to the gills.
    Karan, not only do the young folk see Shashi as an aspirational figure but so also do we see in Shashi the kind of politician that maybe one day all politicians could be. That's a pipe dream no doubt but nonetheless.

      Well, after a very long time I have actually seen Karan being so reluctant to interrupt, barring few exceptions to bring Shashi back on track and Shashi being so assertive in making his points.
      Usually Shashi let's go if he is interrupted by interviewer. This was a rare exception of role reversal when it comes to both of them compared to their usual selves: Karan being interrupter and Shashi's responses limited to questions.
