Superb Jon! You have a real knack for this! Thanks. Another question if I may? In another video I think I noticed your buddy (red canoe, IIRC?) had a cover over the bow of his canoe. I think you mentioned he also had more experience in higher class “rapids” than you? He may have even taken your canoe down a particularly intense section? Anyway, it would seem those covers would be huge “safety” item in steep rapids, and/or even getting caught in high wind/big open water crossings. In essence, you’ve turned most of the canoe into a kayak, and would keep a lot of water entering the canoe unexpectedly! Clearly, again, I missing something! 😎 🇺🇸🇨🇦👍

Honestly Johnny, I’ve been watching you for three years. Comfortably almost every video in that time. Dude, this is a masterpiece of you and your style of outdoors filmmaking. You are one of my favourites for the quality of cinematography. The framing, music, colour palette, brilliant editing, makes me hunger for your videos. Picture quality I feel you pay attention to and it’s fantastic. One of the elements I enjoy the most is the cerebral element to your film choices. I’m a big fan of Xander and Jim Baird. I also love your buddy adventures with Xander. I also see you like peanut M&Ms. My man. But honestly I am a huge fan of what you do. You have inspired me to get deep into backcountry canoeing and I am blessed to have my 15 year old daughter be down to go with me for the past several years. I really love what you do as an artist. As a wildlife conservationist. And as a cool dude who gets absolutely great artistic and tasteful shots. I’m sorry for the injury but I feel you have found strength and a new direction as a result. Only the best wishes of recovery and joy to you. Please keep doing what you are doing. Your videos have brought such hope and joy to me over the last few years, I feel I must actually thank you. My man. Thanks John.

I think there are many of us who share the same feelings and sentiment as you do. Watching Jon and Erin for the past 3 years has been such an inspiration and positive influence on me, it had been so rewarding to watch his journey from those first humble videos to a gifted videographer and artist. That journey of learning with humility and going from strength to strength is very inspirational l. I am grateful and so glad he’s back happy and healthy. It’s been a long worthwhile wait.

One more thing. Your portage strategy is on point. My advice; when you heal enough to portage again, don't even tell anyone ( and just keep it like it is. Going downstream is what canoes are made for, especially mine. Maybe put in at a lake and take out at the same place. I know I'm a little older and female, but down here it's pretty common for everyone to just go downstream in canoes. Of course we have more linear rivers than water everywhere like The Canadian Shield. Have fun.😊

It's amazing how similar that moss on the trees (13:00) looks to the Spanish Moss we have on trees near the coast, and that I saw hanging so thickly on the trees in Savannah, Georgia. It's like a southern moss vs. a northern moss, but they look similar. Congratulations on your channel blowing up (in the good way). Glad I found this video. I've watched so many canoe video's that are always the same old thing. They go from one lake to another, do crazy portages, just to do it all over again. I would rather see you go around the whole lake, multiple came sites. Do some bush crafting. Ya know?

Probably the best one you ever did. If there were awards for CZcams videos, this one would win. Glad you're recovering from your injury.

I definitely agree with you on choosing the camp site there at the end of the video. No permanent installations but pure nature for me!

This looks like a trip for me. Nice fish too. Watching some of those portages gives me the willys. Don’t have alot of those down here in Fla. But I sure like watching these videos. I’ll be up that way one day to paddle the backcountry. Cool show.

Hey Jon! I'm just getting caught up on video's and so glad to see you back after your injury. Everything was so serene and beautiful plus seeing the momma moose and her calf was just amazing. Thanks for taking us along, looking forward to seeing all the new adventures ahead. Take care...Big ((Hugs)) from Texas!

Blew out my right knee in my twenties, completely sympathetic with your situation. After a series of horrible storms down here in MS (5 + days of tornadic winds, tons of rain etc etc- never in my 60 + years seen anything like this) we’ve been without power for 5 days, and this popped up on my feed and is the perfect way to try to relax and get chill with you. Shared your vids with my eldest son who is an avid fisherman himself- we both love your vibe. Hope you heal completely and swiftly🥰❤️ Peace and good reads to you and Erin!

Havent watched yet; just wanted to come down here and give my thanks for yet another movie of your travels, Jon. Especially given the context regarding your knee (also very impressed that you're already out and about), I am extra grateful for this one.
Hope the knee is healing well! Take care

Glad you're back. Not having your winter camps to listen to as I fall asleep took some getting used to. But that isn't important. Glad to hear you've had the surgery and seem to be on the mend. Can't wait for more videos. Don't push to hard and enjoy your spring/summer in the great outdoors!

❤ Hi John, how nice to have you back, I missed the notification of your video and was thinking 🤔 where is that John from Last Lakes, and yes the video was even 4 days ago!
what beautiful images, I don't know if it's just me, but I think you use good quality cameras.
I love how you respect the life of animals, I see a lot of adventurers, really disgusting rough handling of animals I can't bear that and never look again!
thank you for the beautiful video, that was old-fashioned enjoyment I hope to see Erin again soon with you, always nice to see you together.❤
God bless from the netherlands ❤

Welcome back, Jon. We've been concerned about you and are so happy to see you back. We went into withdrawal while you were gone and it got so bad we were forced to watch Xander videos. It was awful! 😅 God bless you, Jon. Treasure every moment...
