I will say this is the soul of CZcams. A person sharing their own adventure, not some hack monetizing someone else’s life (or death) by reading wikipedia articles about obscure things and editing videos taken by others, thank you for sharing!
This channel should have a 100,000 subscribers! Remarkable journey and stunning storytelling. Can’t wait for part 2!!
Fantastic adventure video! The obstacles you face with a calm demeanor is impressive! I am looking forward to Part II.
Sunday morning coffee and an hour long video from mr shoalts. Awesome!
Gotta wonder, how many years, or decades, or ever, since a human navigated that small tributary....Adam, you're building memories to last a lifetime, someday you'll look back and say "Man, I did that!"
Awesome video, can’t wait for part 2. I am James Bay Cree from Kashechewan. Albany river and Kenogami river is our highway for moose hunting, fishing, and harvesting by a freighter canoe, with all the rivers and creeks along the way. I’ve also paddled from Kabinakami river to Kashechewan James bay. Looking to do it again this summer before fall.
Taking a moment to enjoy an unripened cloudberry is tops in my opinion. You are true grit, determined, inspiring, educational story teller. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge, journey and passion with us all.
This brought back memories of paddling the Albany starting at the Kabina and Kenogami Rivers back in 1977. We paddled all the way to Fort Albany on James Bay. Wonderful to see the Lowlands are still very wild. Looking forward to Part Ii!
I really love that you share your knowledge of the area and the natural resources that are available to eat or heal, a lot of us have lost that knowledge.
Enjoyed your 10 Maps book and gifted it to my son in law. Would be interesting to see your rations and meals along the way.
Nothing beats the feeling of freedom you get from exploring the great outdoors. This video transports me back to the sense of adventure I felt on my recent camping trip. Liked!!!
To do something like this takes incredible mental resolve. Hats off to you brother. AMAZING documentation of your expedition!
What a treat! Thank you for sharing another beautiful adventure! Always grateful. Thanks Adam!
This is fantastic!! Just brilliant!! You are an inspiration, thanks Dr. Shoalts.
Thank you!
You’re NUTS….I love it!
I've been intrigued by your adventures since I saw your interviews with KC Happy Camper and a few other videos here and there. This morning I saw this video and I was thrilled to learn you have your own channel. Can't wait to watch part 2!
Some beautiful sunsets and views! I've got most of your books! You should post more videos of your amazing journeys! Maybe even gear reviews and/or gear lists. I know you're a busy person, but I really hope your CZcams channel takes off. You deserve it!
I'm exhausted just watching you. I need to take a break
Great to see you in the wild after reading the book. Thanks Adam
1:03:45 - I'm really fascinated by the ease with which Adam talks while being bitten by mosquitoes
So enjoyed learning about woodland items/food sources you "enjoy"! I was secretly moaning while watching your long portage through the "Canadian quick sand"! So enjoy your stories! I very much enjoyed "Beyond the trees" and am half way through "Where the falcon flies!" Your adventure are amazing! Stay safe!
ME AND THE WIFE NEED PART TWO ! ! !
Wow Adam! A man of knowledge and determination (not to mention filming and editing). Hats off to you. This is my first encounter with you channel which kept popping up on my feed. You earned a sub.
Keep up the hard work, Adam. Thank you for sharing with us, your books and videos go a long way.
Thanks!
Thank you for this! Looking forward to part deux...
Adam what a journey ! that was amazing, looking forward part two. Thank you sharing this.
Love the adventure Adam, never stop exploring!
One time I thought a short cut through Cootes Paradise was a good idea, I fought hard to not sink to my death....seems like a cakewalk compared to your adventure. Your like a modern day voyageur. Love your adventures, keep it up.
Enjoyed your intervier with Jim Baird. Bought your book, "Alone against the North". Excellent read. Thanks for sharing your story in such a well written book. Cheers. Keep your paddle in the water.
Thank you!
Hey Adam. Another fantastic adventure & video! Thanks for sharing these beautiful, rarely seen landscapes along with the wildlife and your foraging tips. Truly entertaining! Congrats on this accomplishment and hoping your plans for 2024 are going well. Cheers from Fonthill👏🏼👏🏼👍🏻
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The beaver dams create little ponds, much easier for travel, imagine if it was just a creek.?
Hockey and Football players have nothing on you, no gun? Real survival of true adventure. Knee pads would seem obvious, luxury, no? Yet your educated instinct always kicked in and kept going like a man, I am proud that my Country that is in peril from humans and political (lack of) leadership is still alive and sort of well in the great North, we have all the wild beauty and resources in the world here, you Sir, exploited it in the Right way! Tipping my hat to you and thanking you for taking us along.
I wish you happy trails on many more solo adventures, since it is a true self-reliance adventure you have taken on that will forever enrich you has a man. Thanks for showing me places of my home that I never got to but only dreamed of, says a lot in this day and age. Merci Coureur des Bois! (your Historical French name).
Wow! I heard about you from Canoehound and he was right. Very impressive adventure!
Next level stuff, Adam. I love tripping solo but I can scarcely imagine the solitude of these places. I'd be interested to know what the staple meals of your food barrel are and how many calories you need in a day to be able to pull through that muskeg. Looking forward to part 2!
Really good - looking forward to part 2
Happy to see you have your own channel. Subscribed!
Such a wonderful adventure!!
I follow outdoor channels and I love them. I thought your video was excellent, you have a lot of knowledge and courage. I loved the tips on how to use resins to repair clothes. The tree sap to heal the wound was incredible. Greetings from Brazil.
Outstanding Adam, to gain knowledge of all the useable plants in the Forest…such good information. And the very obvious outcome, healing from balsom fir sap!
True persistence,very commendable
Great report, my hat down young man. I'm glad you came back to tell us about it, because you took a great risk doing this solo.
Epic trip so far man! 🙌🏻
Love the addition of wild edible plants!
That long portage looked killer ☠️
100% PURE LEGEND
Really enjoyed this
The start of it looks awesome. I can't wait to watch it later. Thanks for sharing another video.
Hope you enjoy it!
Hats off to you! What a REAL Adventure! Cant wait for part 2!
Great video! I thought the rapids were bad....then came the logjams....then came the portages....then came the marshland. With bugs the whole time.
Thanks for putting yourself through this so I can watch from my couch!
Great canoe adventure! Thanks for sharing your story and wisdom.
I can't begin to imagine that challenging portage. Wow!
Thrilled for your next book and part 2!
Can't believe you stayed upright with a partially-swamped boat and no air bags!!
Dude, your trips are friggin' hardcore!
Adam, as much as I like reading your books, I loved watching this so much.... This is no mean feat filming yourself...
That creek and the muskeg was like the Slough of Despond, much respect Adam. The floating bog made me think of the utility of wearing snow shoes across it lol. At well over 200 lbs I would probably have to make a pair for that crossing! Loon poop can be a freaky bottomless pit.
A place so inhospitable that not even Sasquatch can be found…. What an adventure though!
Dedicated and persistent, that was amazing to watch im excited for part two.
Wow-that takes grit and dedication. I’m tired just watching you. Best of luck and stay safe
Just finished reading, "Alone Against the North". I couldn't put it down! It is a novel used for ELA30
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. That was my first book, and it's about this very landscape, the Hudson Bay Lowlands.
Great video Adam. Looking forward to part 2 already!!
Well done, thanks so much for the inspiration
This looks like a BBC documentary my friend! Absolutely gorgeous!
Thanks! I'm not quite sure it's up to their standards, but I'm glad you think so!
Wow, I thoroughly enjoyed the journey so far. Hard core trippin’ for sure. I have fished much of that area but by fly-in fishing charters with Cochrane Air. Looking forward to part 2 😊
Thanks!
Love this! Absolutely hooked from start to finish!
I don't know how you do it? But I'm glad you do!
Fantastic video Adam. I love your work. Im always looking forward to your next inspiring adventure.
Thanks!
Greetings from Finland! I`m a big fan of yours, I have read two books from you and just started to read ”history of canada in ten maps”. Great to see some video footage also!
Awesome adventure! Can't wait for part 2.
I just started listening to your book alone against the North on audible. Heard about it from John Ontario of lost lakes. Didn't know you have a CZcams channel.
I tried those clams a few times as well and I’d have to have one foot in the grave to bother with them again haha
Really cool. Very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing. Maybe you could add a map of where your travel took you.
That's awesome! Can't wait till part 2!
Excited to see you on CZcams. Would love to see more of the wildlife analysis and notes, fauna and flora. And maybe better video quality? Thanks for the video! Love your books.
Thanks! The whole thing was filmed in full HD. If you select the settings in the lower corner, CZcams lets you switch the resolution to as high as you want.
Absolutely incredible! I'm in awe.
Incredible, love your books Adam!
Thank you!
When I'm doing youtube full time, one trip I want to take is to float the entire Peace River. It's unfortunate I won't be on days off when you're in Hudson's Hope.
I just finished your book, "A History of Canada in Ten Maps" so perfect timing for your voyage!!! Highly recommend everyone read it!!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the book!
@@adamshoalts loved it! I didn't know about many of these early explorers and didn't understand why Franklin was given two other voyages after his first.
My copy just showed up yesterday in the mail. Can't wait!
Fantastic video. Thank you for sharing. 👍151
Thank you for filming your trip! I have read three of your books and enjoyed them immensely - and I just ordered: "Where the Falcon Flies". Watching the video footage of a trip of yours was particularly fascinating. Thank you for making the extra effort to capture your experiences on film. New subscriber here!
Thank you!
Nice adventure solo journey enjoying with nature
Loved this! I can't wait for part 2!
your video is very good. great youtube❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very cool. Been in some hoary places in my past but with bugs like that? Nope. I'd have the screamin' meemies within a day.
Amazing! Can't wait to watch!
Awesome! Thanks for the ride✌
That was a fun video :) Subscribed for part 2
Great as always Adam!
Amazing journey. Admire your positive attitude, very inspiring! What camera equipment did you use?
Thanks! I have two cameras I pack: a GoPro and a Sony Handycam (mainly for wildlife filming).
Epic adventure!
Can't wait to watch!
Really enjoyed this Adam!
Adam Shoalts ASMR kino for going to sleep thank you sir
Fantastic, Dr. Shoalts! Your calm determination in overcoming the rigors of traveling through the bush is inspiring. When was this trip in sequence to the trips in your books?
This was in 2021, the year before I did my Lake Erie to the Arctic journey described in the book Where the Falcon Flies.
Absolutely amazing nice sound.thanks for sharing your journey.guys I recommended you visit the himalayan mountains k2 and Nangaparbat view point from one place moses peak.add this sound in your bucket list.
Beautiful
Might just be me, but if I have a spruce and a cedar side by side, I'm grabbing cedar for tea every single time.
Great video!
I just came across you're channel, great adventure new sub here.... Cheers👍😎👍
Wow, you really should have a cape on your back, what a super human effort, so awesome……….
Amaazing!
Sunset @ 1:10:54
Wow
Oh wow ...Adam has a CZcams channel! just watched part 1, very good1 I especially enjoy the educational bits about the plants, resins, etc! This looks to be based on the same journey as one of several of your books that I've read ...Alone Against The North" ?
Thanks! I haven't written anything about this particular trip, which was just a few years ago. Alone Against the North is also about the Hudson Bay Lowlands, though a different area, and those expeditions were earlier (between 2008 to 2013). I never intended to write a book or anything about this particular journey, as it was more just for personal interest that I did it...but I had this footage just sitting unused for the last few years, so I figured I'd upload it on here.
