The joke about the leafs was good lol
As a B’s fan I loved it 😂😂😂
Get wrecked, favorite team
Lol it was cold blooded
Matthews is counting/making sure that “G” category is updated. Shout out coach chippy
Sight of the moon shining through the smokey haze with the trees, tent, sky was phenomenal vid capture.
That is currently my desktop background.
I don't think there's a thermocline. Once the lake turns over, it disappears until the lake warms up and develops a new layer in the spring.
I agree!🙏
"Should have known it would collapse under pressure" - That was an absolute laugh out loud moment!
Your thanks to the pike for giving itself to you is greatly appreciated. Not enough people honor the animal they take in this way. It's a sign of humility to do so and I thank you for showing the proper respect. Take care and until next time...be well.
It’s pretty meaningless when the animal has zero way to receive the message. It’s just a way for people to live a bit more guilt-free
It's not really about thanks or guilt as much as it is about respect...same reason I dispatch fish immediately. They're going to die but to do it swiftly with a club is about respect for the fish and limiting its suffering. I never enjoy killing them and I always feel guilt and sadness...for some reason it comes out as gratitude
Totally disagree with you. What's wrong with showing respect for an animal's spirit? You may not agree with it but it's a principle of many Native American groups. To each their own but don't naysay something just because you don't agree with it.@@Ravenz4
How do you know the pike doesn't thank every baitfish before it swallows and digests them alive?
Thank you for all the hard work in setting up and camping, chopping wood, feeding the fire all night, filming all the beauty, for the beautiful production, and of course, for sharing it with us.
Oh perfect - I was just settling down for dinner and wondering what to watch and you've just dropped a new video! Well that's my evening taken care of!
Another absolute banger. Top tier on-location video and audio production, no corners cut, practically inconceivable how just one person could venture into the wilderness and film such an immaculately made video on their own. This is the ultra-high-effort long form content that still makes youtube worth watching at all in 2024 in a sea of increasingly low-effort, lowest-denominator clickbait hogswallop 😌
Truly appreciate that!

"It has a Leafs logo on it, I should have known it was going to collapse under pressure". I laughed way too hard at that haha. Great video as always!
I'm bitter lol. Thank you!
I’m a silent observer normally from California. I have been dreaming about exploring the beautiful north for years. My children are still to small but hopefully we get some snow soon so we can play it. Thank you for the great content and giving me ideas for the future.
I'm from WI and can hear how cold it is based on the sound of your footsteps on the snow!!! Thank you for the video!!! 😊
Joh at 11:50 into your video , the photography was so beautiful. The moon and smoke, what can I say, National Geographic. Outstanding work.
Those night stills, with the haunting moonlight, just incredible John.
A true leafs fan lol…. Honestly you have become the best Canadian camping content out there in my opinion!!!! Your videos are amazing and I so look forward to them!!!! Thank you sir
Thank you!!
The images around the 12:00-12:30 minute mark are insanely beautiful.
Oh boy. Im giddy with excitement for these art pieces.
Such a great camp! You are so lucky to live where you are and the crown land to really enjoy and respect. I just love your adventures, cant wait for the next bell to go off!
We sure are :) Thanks BC!
I've been watching other camping videos from different channels to satisfy my need for such content, but this is by far my favourite channel! Maybe I'm just a sucker for a fellow Canadian lol but your cinematography, storytelling and such beautiful scenery is second to none. You and Erin are the best!
Thank you so much :)
Whenever my girlfriend says I’m crazy for hunting when it’s cold (I live in central IL) I’m going to send her this video and show her that at least im not insane! Love the content!!
Camping in that snow looks really fun and kind of insane. 👍
I love watching your videos. Often, it's a form of meditation for me. Thank you for all the effort you put in to take us all on such fabulous trips.
Another entertaining show Jon, thanks. My grandad used to swear by pike baits that had a smell, like a frog, or a mouse. I even saw guys using frozen shrimp once. Love the underwater shots.
I liked your camping.🏕️
I enjoy camping in Japan, too.🇯🇵
I have not camped on a snowy day.☃️
You have high technique and knowledge.✨
I learned most from you.😊
Your video gave me a hint!
I appreciate splendid camping.☺️
Thanks Jon! I can tell how cold it was 1st time out by the sound of the crunching on the snow with your boots! I caught the Leafs comment 😉 Hope to see you both out there soon! Cheers, B sorry about the lynx!
Gotta love it :)
Nice to see some cold, as this is by far the warmest, rainiest, crappiest Winter I've ever seen here in Canada, El Nino or not (lets be honest we've had many el nino events and never a lack of true winter like this). And it's freaking me out. Usually by the end of February I cannot wait for Spring. Instead I'm still waiting for winter to really begin. It's a bizarre experience as a Canadian.
Yeah just wait for the next video...not normal
It went from relaxing to exciting! Beautiful work. Fingers crossed for a lynx.
This guy is doing experiments, infrared app and hardware for phones... getting lots more knowledge than I expected!
Great effort and planning on this video. Music is great too!!
Nice little home away from home in the woods you've got there!
Last week I included the most wonderful clip (the start of day 8) from your 11-day solo trek through Wabakimi in a quiz for my co-workers. They were genuinely gobsmacked by so much Canadian beauty, so I guess you might have some new fans!
Hahah thanks for sharing Bernard!
(11:59) I love the way you captured the smoke going up through the tree's against the night sky. Just artistic & beautiful ❤
Love watching your winter camp-outs
I'll be interested to see your next igloo attempt. I never really "got" sintering until I moved out to Alberta where the snow is (usually) very dry and very cold. I brush it off of my van and just the impact of hitting the ground packs it into a surprisingly solid mass. So far I've been assuming that your snow was *not cold enough* to sinter. Thanks to your tireless efforts, I guess we'll find out. :)
Interesting video. 👍 Think about placing your trailcam at about 6ft level or as high as you can reach. Better perspective, wider field of view, harder for animals, especially bears from damaging it, and harder to steal. Have been switching over to solar trailcams to save wasting batteries too.
If you, push your hot coals to one side of the stove and then push a piece of wood up against them,~ then add your other wood. The fire will slowly work its way across the stove making it last longer, it more than likely will not be as hot however you might get 3 hours out of instead of the 2 hours you stated. The fuel burns slower compared to putting all your fuel on top of all the coals causing it to be consumed all at once. I do this with my woodstove at home for the night and it works well, took me a few years to learn that trick.
This looks like such a great way to spend some alone time with yourself in the woods and not have to stress too much. I could use something like this in my life tbh. Feeling stuck in the mundane lately. Thanks for allowing me 30 ish minutes not being here right now. ❤
Good stuff. That must be so nice to leave the tent setup with wood and supplies and have the confidence it'll be there when you return. Loved the still, evening shots, especially with the smoke billowing out into the sky. Thanks for taking us along, Jon! Cheers
Great video. Really enjoy them. Really like the couples videos. It’s helps me convince the wife to go with me and the kids about twice a year. And I would like to say you do a really good job editing.
Thank you!
Thank you as always for your work, Jon!
7:42 you’ll always make the best dinners while camping. Ravioli, stews you make and I’ve seen you cook steak before. Man my mouths watering now lol
I waited , patiently all day to watch the video tonight. And it was so worth it! Thank you for another great adventure Jon👍🏼
Love your videos. Great to see you back on form.i hope your knee issues are all sorted now 🙏👍😎
It was so frustrating watching the fish not take the bait. I'm yelling at the monitor "EAT THE BAIT ALREADY!!!" - cold camping videos are the best, pls continue to chef it up too.
So beautiful at night with all the stars! Especially seeing the tent glowing in the dark. Knowing you have a warm cozy nest to go back to!
Cracking pictures in the moonlight!
WOW Jon you never disappoint us Epic shots of the night sky with the moon & smoke up in the trees, epic drone footage as always , and perfect set up in my opinion. Nice pike you caught for supper . Love your videos winter camping in the wildness at its best.
So beautiful!
Freezing water is amazing. I have seen it split engine blocks. Mostly on boats for myself. It is the prolonged exposure that really gets them. Thank you for that "Seinfeld" episode of "nothing". I appreciated it. hehe. ;)
You answered a question - min 12:39. Was curious.
As I lay in my warm bed enjoying your video - LOL.
Also your videos have got me interested in starting to winter camp myself!
Get a woodstove heat driven fan to distribute the heat
Yay!! So happy to have another installment on the camp. Stay warm, stay dry and have lots of fun!
A pleasure as always!! Great trip!!

Always happy when your source of heat is is operational!!! Love the wood heater I can just smell the the campfire smell.

I'm watching it again John you are so calming.
Thanks Jon. I really like your videos. God bless you and Erin.
Each time i feel i am on an adventure with your video. i was on the edge of my seat and even caught myself saying YES when you caught the fish. Thanks for sharing.

Great video buddy nice time out at camp everything looked awesome
'Collapse under pressure', LOL, I feel for you buddy, it's tough to be a Leafs guy! Good one! Your time will come... Eventually! #GoBruins 😂
Also. That shot of the smoke coming up on the trees under a sky of stars... So darn pretty.

I LOVE the winter campings, snow is such a rarity where i live. Happy thing that keeps me up is trout season starts next week. Much love to you 🥰
Love the concept of the continuous site. This is just what I needed today.
The footage starting around 30:00 is incredible.
Another great video. Very much enjoyed
Awesome video. Really cool underwater footage as well.
I was on the edge of my seat during the fishing scene, what an amazing catch on camera! Incredible man

Thank you for sharing the video ,was nice waching you fishing 🎣 take care .
Beautiful day
always enjoyable. I seem to sleep better after watching you rough it at -29
Well done!
Love the vid mate. Always entertaining. Keep it up!
Hey Jon, great to see another vid, having our camp set up for permanent use is a game changer for us, with our schedule and the store hours ,being able to toss things in the truck and go is perfect. It’s been such a poor winter weather wise, we head in on Thursday this week, they’re talking rain , hope not, makes the walking in a little soggy, would rather have cold and snow. Good luck finding a bigger pike, that one was awesome on the camera, just like watching one come in when in a shack. All the best, thanks for sharing, Bob n Lou 😊🏕️
Sure is easier than hauling in/out and making/breaking camp every time!
😊fun and yummy, thank you for sharing.
Hello Jon your videos are so thoroughly entertaining you are one of my favorite you never disappoint thank you for bringing us so long and another wonderful video 😊👍🐠🐟🔥
Jon, I enjoy every minute of your beautiful off-grid camping videos. No one is better with all the technology than you. The underwater video here is incredible. Have a good winter and spring. Looking forward to your next adventure. Best regards. Greg / CT USA.
literally have watched all your content , so excited each time i see another upload !
Thank you!!
Awesome episode Brotha, thanks for bringing us along 🫡
Hopefully you can get the footage… that would be Super Dope 👊🏼😎🤙🏼
Another great video, scenery beautiful as usual, you remind me of inspector gadget lol with all your stuff, stay warm!
Comforting and soothing after a chaotic/drama Family Day dinner. Thank you 😊
Ah family...
I am still watching videos from years before. It is nice to see the new episodes.
Cool watching fish react
Watching your video now! Always so awesome and I'm so glad to be apart of this community! Have you and Erin actually thought of off grid building at all? It sure seems like it would suit both of you!
Really appreciate you joining! We hope to buy a house with a bit of land soon so that would be cool someday
