I dig the ‘61 style over the batwing, especially in this color.
I have the Epiphone version of this guitar and it plays and sounds great. A good alternative if you can't afford the Gibson.
If you can't afford a Custom SG you might afford a used Standard, which are not very different (same pick-ups to begin with) and easy to find.
1:43 I’m curious what a Body Bound Sg with the contours would look like, I’d imagine the transition between the contoured and the squared off area, particularly around the lower bout near the control area, would look very strange, but it never hurts to experiment!!
My 2012 Wes Montgomery L5 has that same custom shop case. I think the crushed velvet is much nicer than fake fur.
That SG is very stylish .
Now that is class.
A lot people use the tape weights that are used for car tires usually. They're flat and you can selectively add or remove them while the tape/glue is sticky enough to hold but you can still remove them pretty easily. If your cavity is deep enough you can even put them standing up around the lowest part of the cavity to try to really pull that center of mass back.
Maybe barrow grannie's 5lb. Dumbbells and beef up.
The Sg sounds great and looks fantastic. I have the cherry 61 reissue and put in Tony Iommi Gibson pickups. It kicks.
The wider strap works wonders. 😎👍🏽

Very nice SG Custom!
It is in fairly decent shape and would be essentially like brand new with a good thorough polishing.
It has some exceptionally colorful mother-of-pearl inlays that are a nice touch.
The neck dive issue could be resolved with some counter weight, or a specialized strap with a grip pad such as the strap I use for my Godin electric twelve string guitar, which has an extremely heavy head stock.

Yeah, SG Customs are sweet looking axes. The problem I always have with them is, I just don't see how they're a sufficient upgrade over a Standard to justify the price without being a 3 pup model. I dig SG's big time, got 2 (92 Standard & 61R) but I've always seen 'em as more of a workhorse guitar than a looker, like say a LP.
I really love this SG custom. I wish I had one myself. As for the neck dive, I have noticed that a couple of my guitar's that have weird headstocks like my Dean v actually balance better when i adjust the strap so the bottom half of the guitar is just above the waistline.
I guess the 3-pickup version could be an attempt to limit the problem…
I like SGs over Les Paul's and own a few, 94 cherry Standard, 2020/21 Special , Gary Clark Jr. with 90s etc. I like this one but to me the white 3 pickup SG Custom is the best looking one IMHO but that's just me. This is still a great looking guitar and sounds Great! Nice score Trogly! 👍 Always love an SG episode! 🤗

I have a 2021 model exactly like this one and ye this guitar is the finest guitar | have owned not only the playability and exceptional array of sounds, but the fact that this guitar just screams gorgeous in ebony black and gold hardware had me sold. Definately the best guitar that i almost nearly didn't buy. So glad i did.

My 1993 Special is one of my “never sell” guitars. (It may be the “cheap” model, but it’s got an Ebony board, all the other SGs from 1993 had rosewood. 🤷♂️ 😊

My first electric guitar was a red SG copy like Angus's. So I have a soft spot for SGs.
I have a 2017 2 pickup white SG custom w richlite board. It’s very nice, if not one of the best guitars I’ve played.
A bit of neck dive but does it fall of your lap backwards like a les paul?
the neck dive is why I always go for the sgs with a tremolo.
You could always swap out those big ol' heavy grovers for some lightweight klusons,saves about 120 grams, made all the difference to mine

Love SGs. But what's the story with that issue with the lack of sustain on the 11th and 12th fret on the G string? All my SGs have had it.
I just put a pearl white pick guard on my cherry SG standard.

I’m confused by the commentary claiming that Custom Shop Les Paul SG customs only brought back ebony fretboards in 2016. I own a 2006 CS SG Custom which has an ebony board.
The two pickup version is my favorit.

Can't bind an SG and keep the bevels? I wish you'd told me that in 1987 when I built my neck-thru SG with multi layer bound body. I did include the bevels. It wasn't hard. If I could do it 35 years ago, I'm sure Gibson can do it.

Their so lite, mini buckers clean up and still bite, cause the mahogany is extremely resonant .firebird pu.s fit the p90 guard using the surround. Best sounding sg ever ....nobody does this trickery !
I realized I've posed this question before, but I don't mind repeating it. Got to learn the response if I get one. Isn't the SG Custom (or one like the Cpt. Kirk Douglas) with all three pickups more body heavy and less prone to neck dive? Doesn't the third pickup (and occasionally the Maestro Vibrola) add weight?
Don't forget they have to route out another pickup caviry

@@ericbgordon1575 well the body would lose weight due to the third pickup cavity. Not sure which weighs more, a humbucker, or that volume of mahogany.
With my lack of knowledge on the subject, @Forest Fifer , I might have thought that the metal involved with assembling the pickup would have weighed more than the wood. People talk about applying gold counterweights to the SG body. Is gold heavier than whatever metal is used in the pickups?

Crunchy! I dig it! I own a ‘05 standard and the “Buckethead” SG, and both have the neck dive as well. You learn to deal with it as best you can. In any case, that version sounds excellent.

Had a exclusive standard that was almost identical. After mom died and my job was taking care of her I had to sell it during the transition to being alone. I miss her and that guitar every day. I watch you every night and sometimes I just hate you 😂

Dust in the Wind!? I had Flashbacks, dude! I just recently bought this axe by Epiphone. Is there much of a difference?
Or you can just live with the neck dive and be aware it is going to happen when you strap the guitar on. I no longer have my '68. I got rid of it (had to from a financial perspective) to get a Custom Shop Les Paul (1996). The '68 simply would not stay in tune, the Les Paul is not as stable as my PRS but world's better than the SG.
That is the best looking SG I've seen in a long time...WOW.
