I get reinterpreting but they clearly wanted to make their own story so they can get more profits..if they followed the manag story while cliche to do so and kinda lame honestly akira would get a lot of the so called profits off this film so they wrote around that and why should we watch the actual series just in live action?..we wanted something new but this yeah not this...
The sad thing is, Ben Ramsey's original script, most of which they THREW OUT, had more to do with the actual Dragon Ball than this did. He never saw the final movie, he just knows everyone hates it. But if they went with his ACTUAL script instead of rewriting it... people might have hated this, but they would have disliked it LESS.

Yep. I watch Chris Stuckmann's channel too. He had this as the worst movie ever to him since it came out, for a long time now 10 years. He just saw Cats, he said it replaced Dragon Ball Evolution as worst movie ever. I feel your pain though Eric.

I personally thought death note was a decent telling where light was being tempted to being a villain by those around him, and ryuk was the real villain who kept pushing everyone down the path. For it becoming a short american telling, it was good with all the characters losing at the end for entertainment.
I kinda want to see them have to deal with something like Birdemic...but that might fall into "cruel and unusual punishment"

gokus character always confident happy go lucky a little cocky at times but gets his come upings for it when its a comedic scene or he goes overboard but always sees the glass half full..hes an alien after all....little self doubt..more just doubt with his impossible situation...writer: lets make goku every other whiny self doubting loser kid..thats relateable right?..me: no his character is summed up by a filler movie moment ...me: in the metal cooler film dub goku literally laughs about the odds vs an army of cooler's when they struggled to beat even one saying well guess we got no choice but to try and says its been nice knowing you vegeta jokingly...thats goku's character

Eric is the face of us as an entire fandom when we think about this film.
as a teen I hated the film but a few years ago I started to respect it now as a hardcore og dragonball adult that watched the show in dub six times subbed twice watched z gt super dubbed and subbed and read the manga...its not that bad if you take away a few parts forget its dragonball and just watch it as a film..its a b movie and its enjoyable in parts..theres some really bad parts sadly but its not a 0/10 film..more like a 3/10..its watchable mostly...its just a bad dragonball film...its not horrible though..its a little boring and hard to follow story wise...I get it we all hate when they take a title we know and make us mad ruin it and we have to watch it because of the connection to something we enjoy but like just try to forget that and think about it on its own merit...its still meh but hey I don't hate it...it doesn't ruin the actual series and in some ways it made super exist cause it was such a bad taste in everyone's mouths...I think dragonball z fans expected it to be less og dragonball cause ya'll didn't watch anything but z growing up...lets be real..og and gt and even super for many of you is like no thanks just z...its a nostalgia thing...

@@joejames1794 i agree...i'm just playing devils advocate coming at it from an unbiased adult new perspective is all...like its bad from a dragonball fans pov but just try to ignore that and watch the parts that work like roshi piccolo bulma and yamcha ...I get it the script and actors can be horrible but sometimes if you forget its dragonball and just imagine its not related to the source material it can be enjoyable in a campy b movie type way...its fun in the middle to the end of the 2nd half...the first third outside of a little bit with roshi and bulma is awful i agree like unwatchable bad so like 30% is terrible but the rest of the film is not that bad ..its not good really maybe like 10% of the film is even slightly above average and works but its not a pos like some pretend...I don't get why they made their own story up either like it clearly was their downfall cause like how hard would it be to copy the arcs or you know the training/tournament like a mortal combat type film and set up a trilogy that way...the story is already written just copy it and people will watch enjoy and support it..the hermit training/tien stuff can be put into one film and tell a great story on its own..we don't need to go to piccolo or set it up ...just have a little intro og goku narrating that hes looking for roshi then he finds him meets kururin trains goes to the tournament and we see tien there a rival school student and bam movie is mostly written for you like a classic martial arts film and you can have the master vs goku fight as well put into the tournament before the kururin goku or tien goku fights..pretty simple

King Piccolo actually DID have an airship in the original Dragon Ball. Or rather, Emperor Pilaf had an airship, and King Piccolo took it off of him. And he DID make minions in the original show too, like Tambourine, just not in the way they showed here with a weird blood-draining machine lol. (And you don't need a special container for the Mafuba I don't think, Roshi used a fuckin rice-cooker)

The actor who plays Yamcha, Park Joon-hyung, is really well known as a singer/rapper in Korea. He is Korean-American and he really speaks like that in real life. He is a very animated and charismatic guy in some variety shows he appears on in South Korea. I think he has a CZcams channel called wassupman. That being said, this has to be one of my favorite reactions; not for the movie, but just to see Eric seething with rage at the bastardization of a beloved franchise and the looks of confusion from Rick, Calvin and Aaron.
Yeah he has perfect English and went to hs in cali. Such an awesome and funny dude.

The saddest thing about this movie was that that was a PERFECT modern Grandpa Gohan. Like, as bad as the rest of the movie was, Grandpa Gohan was that good.
Not gonna lie, I really liked roshi in this too. I felt like he was a fairly decent update without leaning too much on the perv aspect of roshi.

How the marriage happened was Ox King and Chi Chi asked him if he wanted to marry her (when they were kids). He says sure and he doesn't see her for years. They meet again at a tournament and she's mad he's ignored her. She confronts him and asks if he still intended to marry her. He's says "sure". When he's getting ready his friends are shocked and find out he thought marriage was some kind of food. He still goes through with the wedding.

Edit: While the blood thing wasn't a thing in Dragon Ball Namekians can reproduce by spitting eggs from their mouth. Demon King Piccolo (Piccolo Daimao) did this on Pilaf's airship for his "demons" (Tambourine, Cymbal, Piano and Drum) and later for his son/reincarnation Piccolo Jr. So technically Piccolo having a airship and making minions is "accurate".
