SoD took the class design and turned it into WOTLK/retail-lite. I think TWoW handles a classic+ best. All top specs remain unchanged and all meme specs were buffed and given a utility.
Also, they added 1000 new quests and new zones that are amazing like the high elf starting zone.
Look man, I'm not asking for SL arcane mage or DF affliction madness.
In the first place raiding is and shouldn't be the end all be all for a vanilla iteration of the game.
But I WILL NOT go back to spamming ONE SINGULAR BUTTON THE WHOLE BOSS FIGHT for whatever comes after SoD, pressing frostbolt all fight or judgment every 10 seconds is worse brainrot than tiktok ffs, I don't believe that the classic fanbase is THAT decrepit to find that part good about vanilla.

I like how era has been around for years now and was dead majority of the time besides the few months hardcore was popping and now but people would have you thinking era been super populated for all these years lol

The Runes were originally a great idea, but it became something that just doesnt really have much meaningful choice.
Even you have 3-5 runes to choose from actually there is only 1 viable option most of the time. That is atleast true to the classes I play, shaman, pala, warrior
I’m having an absolute blast in classic cata. There isn’t much to do outside raids. But that’s all I need
Im having a blast and I rarely do multi player content. Just farm for wow tokens.
i just keep playing my same characters on classic era realm off and on . its great. but i would love a new fresh classic server.
Classic fresh should happen a couple months after War Within maybe. But I don't think it shares the same player base. Lots of people I've met on SoD specifically don't like retail at all.
My guild in sod doest care for cata nor retail. We all enjoy classic era, but have felt it's gotten boring. I tried leveling an alt on classic era, and i couldn't really bring myself to care. It might be because i stsrted the character soon affer leveling my main to 60.
sod at least has differences while also being in classic era zones.
Mark my words, when these new expansions are done blizz is gonna relaunch wow. They have to, and why wouldnt they read the room. Make wow the way it was supposed to be, make vanilla new and plus it up from there. Boom just solved all your problems blizz.

I didn't even know cata-classic was out! I thought it was still in beta...
I played EQ in 2002...that was my first experience in the mmorpg genre. I loved it and got addicted, but i was also playing Warcraft 3 later on, and although i loved the original game, my favorite game was footies, which was a fanmade map mod within Warcraft 3. I played that until my fingers bled. I was playing all those games, and i was an EQ andy, so i resisted playing WoW when it came out, but a friend of mine from EQ got me to sub. Ever since that time, I have been addicted to WoW. When they came out with WoW classic in what was it? 2019? I was excited all over again....I literally forgot why i was just now, explaining my past....anyway, those were good times.
SOD's population just went back up, layers are back and the AH listings have more than doubled.

You dont have to push other game modes down to prop your preferred version up. Vanilla is my favorite version too but I do get tired of the lack of mystery, lack of viable specs/classes, and lack of new content. Im playing SoD for that reason. Devs went way too far with changes to classes imo. Only minor adjustments were needed to classes to be viable. All other dev time should have been spent on new content like quests, zones, and dungeons/raids. Pvp events were a waste of time. Class balancing due to too many runes was wasted time. Level caps with level up raids was a waste of time.
I agree. That goes for all things life. I've known people where the only way they could give someone a compliment was through putting someone else down... In some ways though, like games, you only really learn to appreciate what you like in one version when you lose it from playing another version
yeah Staysafe is just like any content creator reaction andy where they are so caught up with their own biases and ego that they feel compelled to talk down other versions. Now I understand there's data that shows rising and declining but the whole "this server is a flop" is too much of an exaggeration because you can go to places like Page in Cata Classic and there's a lot of people playing and doing endgame.
The thing about the various flavors of WoW is that there are dedicated audiences for each one and the population would always be in flux depending on patch releases and content drought. I think whats most important here is that people still are playing WoW, no matter what version they're sticking into.
They're just trying to push engagement and content. To hype up the new hot thing and drive a viewer count. Play what you want, don't fall for the constant hustle

Problem with gauging interest in fresh by these rerolls is a lot of people just wont play em. Me and my friends want fresh but wont play this stuff, we will just play other stuff until a real fresh comes

I just came back to wow after 10 years. I thought blizzard was doing some peak Activision shit and charging $15/month/version so if you were playing retail, classic, and hardcore you were paying $45/month. I'm glad that wasn't the case but it was a real thought
SOD: season of disappointment
Well, maybe everyone is thinking about this way too hard.
Cata was a very hated expac, so now it drops, and people are leaving it again.
Just made my troll mage last night on DD. Excited for a nice fresh run.
I would say p4 has a good 6 weeks of life in it. The amount of content in p4 at 60 is way bigger than any other phase obviously.
4 weeks of "guaranteed fun" is a bit of a stretch.
I cleared ST each lockour for 3 weeks, spammed dungeons and events but quit during week 3.
Sounds fun to start fresh but I've got an active guild with lots of friends in. I'd only do it if they all did it too and that won't happen unless it's a forced fresh by blizzard blizzard :(
Cata's felt great, the only issue i have is that all i do is raid log and then play hc

I said that before cata classic, just end it at wrath and start over for all on the 20th anniversary.
I would absolutely play Hardcore Fresh. It's been almost a year and it was one of my most fun experiences in WoW.
Maybe they could make Hardcore Fresh TBC servers.

SoD turned me off immediately with the changes, unsubbed and never looked back. Now a classic fresh gets me rock hard and ready to resubb for the 100th time in 20 years
