Hey Karg. I remember you from you days as a Buccaneer on Bloodsail. I rolled on Lava Lash NA for the RP vibe and thought the movement would end up here for SoD. There was an attempt at sf hc on our horde side. But we ended up permanently locked. Now the Lash has a single live guild, a few dozen, experiencing dystopian hardcore for the first time. A sweet ride to finish the season among a handful of folks you see and game with every day. I wouldn't change the fun experience of doing more with less. 10 week dry spell in SoD... The Defiant have been there every day, making lemonade out of lemons. A great crew forged in the shadows of our realms exodus to Wild Growth. When you've done the funnest part of wow(1-60) to death, over and over. Sometimes unexpectedly, Blizz throws you a brand new experience in classic. Been a great SoD season. As far as players and guild mates are included. Blizz kind of did the Blizz experience and dropped the football, a few times... again.
Druids using Polearms is a SoD thing. The redone endgame blues and epics have been upgraded. There's a wicked Polearm for feral droods under BRD. Ferals only AP bonus and a proc of a use. Wait til classic servers start receiving runed toons with upgraded gear. The gamers on your realms will need upgrading to have access to the new gear and changes. I got to play a melee hunter for the first time in almost 20 years. The experience of something new was worth it's wait in gold. They say rune toons retire to a fun place. I expected retail. But more and more in sounds like they are prepping your realms for the rune lords lol. The back end of SoD and classic are the same.
I dedicated a year for SoD. Every day. 8-12 hours. On a dead SoD world with about a couple dozen just like me and another couple casual gamers through the week. They could retire SoD today and I would be here gaming for years off the content. SoD/Classic+ will be the prefect hybrid of og and modern. Every morning of your podcast started with the GMA battle cry. I feel like that every morning here on deadworld. When you discover the wow niche, SoD, dystopian hc, sf hc, Mythic,era, etc, that was meant for you, and fits like a glove. The game rush is real.
I think I would play on vanilla, TBC, and Wrath servers all at the same time if all 3 servers were up. They are all different flavors but they are all fun and I think I’m not alone in that
I started WoW in 2020 during covid lockdown. My first character was leveling a female troll warrior on classic herod. It look me 2.5 months to get to lvl 54 where I ventured into BRD. The 5 hours that I spent inside of BRD was the greatest video game experience of my life. I am thankful for the group that had the patience to lead me through and I honor them by offering the same patience and guidance to any BRD group that I have lead since then regardless of how long it takes.

I am always the last toon to cap each phase in SoD. While most on old Lava Lash would cap in the first few days. In SoD the sweaty were gated three times to force them to enjoy the journey. Those of us on Deadworld, the Lash. Enjoy the journey by choice now. The sweatiest of RPers I've ever seen, having fled to CS and WG with free xfer. And all our horde unbalanced CS in the process fucking that realm over now.
I couldn't agree more! I was hoping the dungeons after that were gunna be just as good cause in classic the dungeons got better and better unfortunately it peaked at brd. But the first 3 expansions are amazing. I played them all. Then I played cata classic and it's nowhere near as fun. It felt like a chore to play in comparison.
BRD is by far the most exciting dungeon, you just feel like in LOTR Moria :D, so many bosses, and at the end you have the king! chance for elite loot. Aaaaah
@@lasgoamnesia7934 did brd last night on era with a few noobs and a coulple of veterans. Only good vibes! Did all of it in about 2.5 hours. And it was so fun. I love taking new people through all the classic dungeons. Did full Mara and ST the other day too. And out of all dungeons in the game my top 3 are Mara, ST and then on the top. BRD! The design of them is pure magic
The petition being put around on SoD is for the unlocking of SoD's only RP server. And allowing all PvP realms free xfer back here to the Lash. Not sure which petition, or both, is nothing then Aces n Eights.
WE DON'T WANT BALANCING/QUALITY OF LIFE CHANGES - the lack of balancing is what makes classic perfect. Not having an interrupt for a pally aside from HoJ is part of the journey
The more they balance it, the more it becomes retail (WHICH blizzard already are working on with SOD).. One of the things that makes classic special, is because not all classes can heal and interrupt and ress, but only some can and therefore all classes are special in their own way.

Warmane wow onyxia server. Uses wotlk client and models but currently releasing phase 6 of vanilla naxx and then in 3 months will go to tbc and be in tbc for like a year or so then go to wotlk. X3 rates so you would be able to get to 60 before tbc releases

"Classic+" by modern blizzard is really going to be yet another fake "Retail Minus" with vanilla skins - just like SOD. It's either Vanilla 1x no-changes or bust. (I signed the petition)
Yep I agree 100%, no way I'm playing cata or mists hahaha. TBC and Wrath also werent as fun as I remembered - looking forward to classic+ assuming they dont totally botch it (I think they did a decent job with SoD but that might be a hot take here).
I agree 100%. The dark portal pass level 58 boost before tbc classic ruined it for me. seeing level 58s running around knowing how hard i had to work to earn 2 geared lvl 60s. the devs ruined it with pay to win.
not pay to win and didnt ruin anything. there were people who didnt want to play classic but wanted to play tbc. dark portal pass gave you a lvl 58 in dog shit gear to get started on.
if the dark portal pass gave you a lvl 60 in full nax gear with bags 2k gold and full consumes maybe id call it pay to win. instead you got a rat lvl 58 that could hardly do the quests for your level.
@jmanlangford4681 Definitely was paid to win because you were granted. A character who was 75% done with leveling up already. I leveled up as protection paladin because it was fun tanked ever 5 man and 10 man in vallina. Then TBC came around I log in and see a 100+ pally tanks running around my guild has 3 pally tanks and no room for more. Simply because you can buy a boost and level in a week.

Realm transfers should stay around. and even auto join for BG's. everything else 100% no. the point of wow is to start at level 1 with nothing building your name and reputation on the server and ultimately becoming elite. first step to growing up is growing. not getting results handed to you. people dont feel like playing games that dont matter. people want to feel achievement and rewards for their efforts. thats why battle royale games are taking over rn. the constant adrenaline/ serotonin / cortisol gives players constant rushes. wow will never captivate a large audience again because it makes people feel like they are wasting time. the stakes arent there. there is no competition. just greed. thats why wow is nearly dead. the only people who play retail wow are either streamers or mentally ill.

Classic isn’t “nostalgia bait”, unless you’re willing to tell me basketball is only a good game because I’m nostalgic for playing it in high school. It’s a great game, period. Leave it as is.

I paid to clone my toon and it got deleted somewhere along the way. I logged in a couple times during TBC and then one day during WOTLK I went to login, and it was gone. I'll never not be upset over this

It is their game. They literally legally own it. You are a customer. If you no longer like the service, stop paying for it. It's certainly okay to complain about the service/product you are being offered. But to say it's not their game is wild. The truth is it isn't your game.

The customers paid for a service and were told "nothing would change" as of a particular date. We were lied to and feel ripped off, even if it is just a few thousand of us. How much does it cost to run a server of a game that was released 20 years ago? It's literally a grain of sand on the beach. They're just being greedy. The devs "care" because they are allowed to care. Their entire budget is likely what blizzard spends on snacks at their offices (hyperbole here). Blizzard's biggest issue is how big they are. You can care like hell about the game you are making, but the guy that cuts the check ultimately makes the decisions. People need to understand that relaunching era servers just doesn't hit the profit numbers blizzard needs to see. There aren't enough people playing for this to make sense.

Always appreciate how you try to look out for the Vanilla/Era/Classic experience. I'm someone who still likes Era, plays SoD and looks forward to Classic+ BUT it's vitally important to me that Era remains the untouched time capsule it's supposed to be.
Unsubbed months ago and started playing osrs instead, best change i've ever made. And it feels great to play a live-service game where the devs and company actually care. As a side note i do miss vanilla and tbc classic allot, but frankly i don't trust blizz to do any more good than bad with the direction they've been going.
osrs is very well made but a lot of the classic wow fans want no change while osrs does have a lot of changes .its mostly good content updates that players could vote but some game play changes have been made too. but the classic wow fans said they want absolutely no changes at all osrs was like that for the first year but people started getting bored .
Weird cause osrs is full of changes and not a "0 change" like these people are bitching about. guess you should unsub from osrs cause they made changes from the OG game.
Era should be this sacred holy ground where no one is allowed to walk, because the founders / creators have moved on and their original vision and sentiment went with them. Any seasonal / updated server should be where modern blizzard is allowed to do whatever they want. I firmly believe that any changes made to the era servers is in bad faith / bad for the health of the game because every single tiny microscopic change erodes the original sentiment / vision that the devs in the late 90's - 2000's had. This game is a massive, sprawling, dynamic ecosystem that thrives on top of this incredibly unique and special foundation that you can't find or get in any other game. Any action taken towards that foundation will have drastic consequences.
I don’t understand who these changes are for. How hard is it just keep your hands off the recipe? They have their own mechanism for trying small or radical changes why touch the museum game? It’s absolutely baffling.
Because they're intention wasn't to change ERA, but ERA and SOD share the same exact client. SOD has hundreds and hundreds of thousands of players and Era has maybe 10 thousand. They update the entire client, which they both use, and making 300,000 people happy > 3,000 people triggers is worth it. Not saying it should have been their approach, just sayin
You keep bringing how people had to pay $15 to do this or that, no you didn’t have to pay that. The character in your video is a character you didn’t pay for lol. “We don’t want any changes to era” but for years played on pservers that slightly tweaked things but I guess that’s alright ? “It’s not their game to change” pretty sure this is self explanatory on why that’s an invalid statement. The core gameplay is untouched and the same era you have always loved. Right now people are just complaining just to complain. No the devs in era didn’t think about the world buff balancing things out hell they’ve even admitted to not finishing horde leveling zones because they didn’t have time so it’s fair to say they slapped a world buff in there to make themselves feel better. The world buff change is making it more appealing for other people to play your game and I think that’s the issue a lot of people are missing. Core mechanics of the game are the same but the r14 cancer gameplay and the world buff meta cringe turns away people and yes you can be an elitist and say “well we don’t want them then” but they are trying to grow the appeal of the game. I know me personally I’ve hated the world buff system the way it was the chronoboom and the alliance buff have made it a lot less toxic . Just step back and breathe the game is still the same game u love all the complaining is just extra stress you are putting on yourself .
Classic plus needs to literally be vanilla with more put in between lvl 1 and the end of phase 3. Quests, dungeons, and a raid. Don’t change the classes, ui, graphics….just more of what we love.
I got the itch to play again several weeks ago and found some your recent content. I signed the petition and would love to have classic fresh. I am playing through Warcraft, Warcraft 2, and Warcraft 3. I will probably be on Deviate Delight in like a month or so. I look forward to it!
Even though I like the Alliance buff and PvP system changes, Kargoz is right-who knows with all these changes happening to era if we will even have a semblance of the original Classic WoW in a few years to come… For that reason alone I signed the petition.
Appreciate the work yall put into deviate delight. Joined a couple weeks ago and the vibes on the server are immaculate. im blindly hopeful blizzard will get their head out of their ass and provide us a legit relaunch with no changes, and while these accidental changes from SOD bleeding over to era permanently are unfortunate, im still definitely enjoying this community server for the time being!
Personally I think Blizzard blocking transfers to the community fresh server is a good sign and maybe that will lead to official fresh servers. Love this push for keeping a few classic servers classic and every fews years restarting a few fresh classic servers that will roll through TBC and WotLK. Truly hope the community can come together on this and push Blizzard in this direction.
I don't see why they don't just have one server for Classic, one for BC, and one for Wrath that is never touched. That's why the private servers were so popular. Free to play would be great to but that will never happen without a battle pass or some BS like that.
There should 100% be rolling Vanilla -> TBC -> Wrath. It's a no brainer. It's all I want to play. Set it on 18 months or whatever. That said, if they want to try Classic+ AS WELL as the rolling trilogy, I'm fine with that. I know it spreads the community thin but it might be the best option.

If we build it, they will come. The reason classic continued on was private party non profit. Asking a multi million dollar company who leeches off their player base to do the right thing is a loose-loose. Everything from moderation to bots continues to ruin classic. All we need to do is make an era server and tell them to pound sand. You have the ability to begin the walk off!
I wish Blizzard would be more transparent with their plans. For example, I don't know what will happen with my character in sod so why shall I put my time now if I don't know if it will be wasted in the end? I want to know where I am going. I want era servers for the original trilogy but I want to know that it will go from era to wrath in 3-4 years and I don't have to worry what will be next. I want to know that I will be able to stay forever in the trilogy era.

The day I fell in love with my wife she was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, that doesn't mean she needs to wear that every day all the time or I wont love her. Classic wow is still classic wow even if druids can use polearms or if alliance has a world buff. these changes don't ruin the core of the game itself. Crying over small shit is weird to me, in fact I think small changes that could attract a real player base are good changes. Wildstar had somewhere between 2-3k players when it was shut down and that wasn't enough to keep it afloat yet classic era is sitting around the same count. breathing some life into a dying game is not a bad thing. For those players who truly are that butthurt over minor changes, go play on a private server to get your fix.
I played season of discovery, was fun until it basically felt exactly like retail then I quit. The way they headed with it I cant imagine they don't make classic plus basically retail.
I don’t mean this as a gotcha, but do you regret pushing for changes to mobs/mechanics/quests to prevent griefing in hardcore as well? Defias Traitor was already over the line in my eyes
never pushed for changes like that with traitor..we did push for anti griefing stuff like MC cap flagging and fixing broken leashes on mobs but dont regret those

I’m 100% behind you. Classic era, no changes, every 2 years. That’s not asking alot and they can still collect $15 a month with no development costs… sounds like a no brainer.
I completely agree that there should be a version of each expansion with no changes, if only for historical purposes. I just wonder if the Classic population can sustain a SoM server, an Era server and rotating Fresh.
I would agree with the original trilogy getting fresh servers on a cycle with the options to graduate your characters into the next expansion AND respective era servers. I'm not enjoying sod, cata, or retail atm. My biggest desire would currently be a classic or tbc fresh experience, even if it's not 2019 levels of popularity.
Played WoW by accident back in 05 because some kids were selling magazine subscriptions to pay for a class trip. Despite being pretty broke I got one to help them out. First one came with a disc inside for the free 20 level intro version. I wasnt even a gamer. Put it in my computer....and the rest was history. For the next five years I was addicted. The changes slowly eroded my passion for the game and by Cata I finally started waking up and not logging in. That turned into not logging in for days, then weeks, and I did what I thought was my final log out prior to Mists. Did jump back in for a year when classic re-released and loved getting to revisit the game. Hardcore was a big part of it, but eventually the repetition and not having as much free time made me walk away again. Classic + will bring me back for a second time. Amazing that a game I've barely played the last 15 years still has me checking in on it routinely.

I’m with ya brother. This is my favorite version of WoW and, at this point, my favorite MMO ever. I want to play this game at times throughout the rest of my life, but I do not want the changes that blizzard are haphazardly throwing into my favorite game.
I wouldn’t worry about Classic Cataclysm or even MoP interfering with Classic Era. The changes that have thus far effected Era came from SoD. SoD has always been the boon to Classic Era and it is my main game. I will say this, not ever design decision was made purposefully. Kevin Jordan even admitted that he did not intend for world buffs to be dispelled. A lot of things in the original game that seem like flaws are so because the game was rushed and unfinished. That being said, if people want to play this primitive, unpolished version of WoW, they should be able to. Vanilla WoW should be an archived museum attraction similar to other forms of art or media.
The problem with consistent fresh is eventually people will stop doing it. I personally absolutely love classic era, but I hate the idea of constantly losing my character which is what seasonal does. It sounds like id be in a constant grind phase and only streamers or people with no job can do it. Leave some classic era always open but add era for TBC, wrath, and classic + for sure.
I really believe they won't leave Era alone, because it repeatedly is pulling people back, when their seasonal Classic + servers keep failing. It's simply pride and spite. It bothers the people working on Classic now (who are not the same people that built the original game), that people would prefer a 20 year old game over anything they can make today. The people working at Blizzard now are, by-and-large, riding the coattails of the old team that was so talented. The new people are parasites. So we can count on them to ruin Era, simply because they hate the bros playing it. They're a bunch of envious bitter liberals.
We have to push for them to license the vanilla content to private servers so we can have classic and classic plus and our turtle wows and not rely on blizzards dev team
How quickly we went from wanting classic +, to hoping they wont do it. The incompetence of the new age dev team is clear. The old pvp ranking system was far superior to the new one. Many friends and enemies were made. You had to work with others to progress. Now it's solo q and afk in av, how sad is that. These days everyone in Stormwind is a Grand Marshal.
Not saying the old system was perfect - it wasn't. It has some major flaws, particularly: 1 - Honor (arguably reputation too) rewards in Alterac Valley was overscaled. It outperformed other battlegrounds by such a large margin, that IF av pops, then ONLY av pops. That became the case for many servers, and as why av is widely regarded as a cancer amongst vanilla purists. 2 - Bracket sizes were too unforgiving (particularly bracket 1 and 2). Forcing players to collude and poolboost with hundreds to thousands of dummy characters, to get enough bracket room for all their teammates. The development team could have adresses these issues easily, whilst still remaining true to the vanilla spirit. Downscale av rep, and increase the bracket sizes in proportion with pool size. Everyone wins. Instead they way over shot the ball, and completely decimated the system, and any social element present in it. Many OG vanilla pvpers quit due to this. I have no faith in handing 2024 Blizzard the torch for tweaking and tempering with Vanilla WoW. If they keep going down this path, we will see a resurgence in private servers.
Giving Alliance the Chiftan buff is the result of over balancing buffs because SOD also give the Horde paladin buff. It aims at the evening the playground for SOD parsers so that no faction felt they are left behind. It is a product after all the SOD "balancing change" and should not have been implemented in era server at all. It didn't consider any lore inconsistency which is crucial for the world building. It also hurts the flavor of classes and difference between two factions. The SOD philosophy is everybody always have what everybody else have and that's NOT people who play era for. it also make no sense if none of the paly buffs and totems are available for both sides. Those changes are toward pleasing certain group of parsers in SOD and basically they enforced it and forced era players to think and play like those people. I won't be mad for some QOL changes that helps grouping/sorting communication but changing the content of the game is certainly uncalled for.
I agree with the no changes. But I do believe we should have fair changes for classic plus. Not on the level of SoD at all. But it should be like 20-30% of sod to a certain degree. Class wise that is.
As if the current Blizzard leadship EVER did anything in regards to Classic out of love, it was always just for cash. With the AI on the horizon and overall the changes that are incoming at a fast pace we are very close to games being tailored for gamers again, and Classic will be packed once again very soon.
I started to know about wow in 2020 when it was last days of tbc so nothing nostalgic for me zero percent... and im still playing only classic wow and i cant leave it now ... its THE game for me forever....
6:36 to be fair, that is one of the major issues why Classic reboot servers were so imbalanced. If you really want Classic to succeed, some changes should be okay, but in reality the best option really is Classic+ servers and a separate Classic "era" server as a baseline "this is the roots of WoW with all it's rough edges" experience. And I'm talking like 2-4 servers of era max. PVP, RP, RPPVP, and PVE with a singular rolling fresh PVP server.
Exactly this. There isn;t enough money in it for blizzard to accommodate this miniscule percentage of their playerbase. I love Kargoz, but he doesn't understand the business end of Blizzard in any way if he thinks a petition is saving this. Or... maybe he is just pandering to his audience.

Hey Karg. I remember you from you days as a Buccaneer on Bloodsail. I rolled on Lava Lash NA for the RP vibe and thought the movement would end up here for SoD. There was an attempt at sf hc on our horde side. But we ended up permanently locked.
Now the Lash has a single live guild, a few dozen, experiencing dystopian hardcore for the first time. A sweet ride to finish the season among a handful of folks you see and game with every day. I wouldn't change the fun experience of doing more with less.

The Defiant have been there every day, making lemonade out of lemons. A great crew forged in the shadows of our realms exodus to Wild Growth.
When you've done the funnest part of wow(1-60) to death, over and over. Sometimes unexpectedly, Blizz throws you a brand new experience in classic. Been a great SoD season. As far as players and guild mates are included. Blizz kind of did the Blizz experience and dropped the football, a few times... again.
Druids using Polearms is a SoD thing. The redone endgame blues and epics have been upgraded. There's a wicked Polearm for feral droods under BRD. Ferals only AP bonus and a proc of a use.
Wait til classic servers start receiving runed toons with upgraded gear. The gamers on your realms will need upgrading to have access to the new gear and changes.
I got to play a melee hunter for the first time in almost 20 years. The experience of something new was worth it's wait in gold.
They say rune toons retire to a fun place. I expected retail. But more and more in sounds like they are prepping your realms for the rune lords lol. The back end of SoD and classic are the same.
I dedicated a year for SoD. Every day. 8-12 hours. On a dead SoD world with about a couple dozen just like me and another couple casual gamers through the week. They could retire SoD today and I would be here gaming for years off the content.
SoD/Classic+ will be the prefect hybrid of og and modern.
Every morning of your podcast started with the GMA battle cry. I feel like that every morning here on deadworld. When you discover the wow niche, SoD, dystopian hc, sf hc, Mythic,era, etc, that was meant for you, and fits like a glove. The game rush is real.
I didn’t play WoW until Legion. So playing Classic isn’t nostalgia. I play Classic because it’s flat out a better game.

I started WoW in 2020 during covid lockdown. My first character was leveling a female troll warrior on classic herod. It look me 2.5 months to get to lvl 54 where I ventured into BRD. The 5 hours that I spent inside of BRD was the greatest video game experience of my life. I am thankful for the group that had the patience to lead me through and I honor them by offering the same patience and guidance to any BRD group that I have lead since then regardless of how long it takes.

I am always the last toon to cap each phase in SoD. While most on old Lava Lash would cap in the first few days.
In SoD the sweaty were gated three times to force them to enjoy the journey. Those of us on Deadworld, the Lash. Enjoy the journey by choice now. The sweatiest of RPers I've ever seen, having fled to CS and WG with free xfer. And all our horde unbalanced CS in the process fucking that realm over now.
I couldn't agree more! I was hoping the dungeons after that were gunna be just as good cause in classic the dungeons got better and better unfortunately it peaked at brd. But the first 3 expansions are amazing. I played them all. Then I played cata classic and it's nowhere near as fun. It felt like a chore to play in comparison.
BRD is by far the most exciting dungeon, you just feel like in LOTR Moria :D, so many bosses, and at the end you have the king! chance for elite loot. Aaaaah
@@lasgoamnesia7934 did brd last night on era with a few noobs and a coulple of veterans. Only good vibes! Did all of it in about 2.5 hours. And it was so fun. I love taking new people through all the classic dungeons. Did full Mara and ST the other day too. And out of all dungeons in the game my top 3 are Mara, ST and then on the top. BRD! The design of them is pure magic

The petition being put around on SoD is for the unlocking of SoD's only RP server. And allowing all PvP realms free xfer back here to the Lash.

The more they balance it, the more it becomes retail (WHICH blizzard already are working on with SOD).. One of the things that makes classic special, is because not all classes can heal and interrupt and ress, but only some can and therefore all classes are special in their own way.

Warmane wow onyxia server. Uses wotlk client and models but currently releasing phase 6 of vanilla naxx and then in 3 months will go to tbc and be in tbc for like a year or so then go to wotlk.

I agree 100%. The dark portal pass level 58 boost before tbc classic ruined it for me. seeing level 58s running around knowing how hard i had to work to earn 2 geared lvl 60s. the devs ruined it with pay to win.
not pay to win and didnt ruin anything. there were people who didnt want to play classic but wanted to play tbc. dark portal pass gave you a lvl 58 in dog shit gear to get started on.
if the dark portal pass gave you a lvl 60 in full nax gear with bags 2k gold and full consumes maybe id call it pay to win. instead you got a rat lvl 58 that could hardly do the quests for your level.

I leveled up as protection paladin because it was fun tanked ever 5 man and 10 man in vallina. Then TBC came around I log in and see a 100+ pally tanks running around my guild has 3 pally tanks and no room for more. Simply because you can buy a boost and level in a week.

Realm transfers should stay around. and even auto join for BG's. everything else 100% no. the point of wow is to start at level 1 with nothing building your name and reputation on the server and ultimately becoming elite. first step to growing up is growing. not getting results handed to you. people dont feel like playing games that dont matter. people want to feel achievement and rewards for their efforts. thats why battle royale games are taking over rn. the constant adrenaline/ serotonin / cortisol gives players constant rushes. wow will never captivate a large audience again because it makes people feel like they are wasting time. the stakes arent there. there is no competition. just greed. thats why wow is nearly dead. the only people who play retail wow are either streamers or mentally ill.

Classic isn’t “nostalgia bait”, unless you’re willing to tell me basketball is only a good game because I’m nostalgic for playing it in high school. It’s a great game, period. Leave it as is.

I paid to clone my toon and it got deleted somewhere along the way. I logged in a couple times during TBC and then one day during WOTLK I went to login, and it was gone. I'll never not be upset over this

just started turtle wow. couldn't be happier. the community is great and the Devs actually care/love the game.
The devs "care" because they are allowed to care. Their entire budget is likely what blizzard spends on snacks at their offices (hyperbole here). Blizzard's biggest issue is how big they are. You can care like hell about the game you are making, but the guy that cuts the check ultimately makes the decisions. People need to understand that relaunching era servers just doesn't hit the profit numbers blizzard needs to see. There aren't enough people playing for this to make sense.

Always appreciate how you try to look out for the Vanilla/Era/Classic experience. I'm someone who still likes Era, plays SoD and looks forward to Classic+ BUT it's vitally important to me that Era remains the untouched time capsule it's supposed to be.
Unsubbed months ago and started playing osrs instead, best change i've ever made. And it feels great to play a live-service game where the devs and company actually care.
As a side note i do miss vanilla and tbc classic allot, but frankly i don't trust blizz to do any more good than bad with the direction they've been going.
osrs is very well made but a lot of the classic wow fans want no change while osrs does have a lot of changes .its mostly good content updates that players could vote but some game play changes have been made too. but the classic wow fans said they want absolutely no changes at all osrs was like that for the first year but people started getting bored .
Weird cause osrs is full of changes and not a "0 change" like these people are bitching about. guess you should unsub from osrs cause they made changes from the OG game.
Era should be this sacred holy ground where no one is allowed to walk, because the founders / creators have moved on and their original vision and sentiment went with them. Any seasonal / updated server should be where modern blizzard is allowed to do whatever they want. I firmly believe that any changes made to the era servers is in bad faith / bad for the health of the game because every single tiny microscopic change erodes the original sentiment / vision that the devs in the late 90's - 2000's had. This game is a massive, sprawling, dynamic ecosystem that thrives on top of this incredibly unique and special foundation that you can't find or get in any other game. Any action taken towards that foundation will have drastic consequences.
I feel you man. The allure of classic has stuck with us, and will continue to be the one we always gravitate towards.
I don’t understand who these changes are for. How hard is it just keep your hands off the recipe? They have their own mechanism for trying small or radical changes why touch the museum game? It’s absolutely baffling.
Because they're intention wasn't to change ERA, but ERA and SOD share the same exact client. SOD has hundreds and hundreds of thousands of players and Era has maybe 10 thousand. They update the entire client, which they both use, and making 300,000 people happy > 3,000 people triggers is worth it. Not saying it should have been their approach, just sayin

The core gameplay is untouched and the same era you have always loved. Right now people are just complaining just to complain. No the devs in era didn’t think about the world buff balancing things out hell they’ve even admitted to not finishing horde leveling zones because they didn’t have time so it’s fair to say they slapped a world buff in there to make themselves feel better. The world buff change is making it more appealing for other people to play your game and I think that’s the issue a lot of people are missing. Core mechanics of the game are the same but the r14 cancer gameplay and the world buff meta cringe turns away people and yes you can be an elitist and say “well we don’t want them then” but they are trying to grow the appeal of the game. I know me personally I’ve hated the world buff system the way it was the chronoboom and the alliance buff have made it a lot less toxic .
Just step back and breathe the game is still the same game u love all the complaining is just extra stress you are putting on yourself .

God I love this game. I estimated over 15000 hours in classic and tbc. If you count vanilla and classic versions. Still can’t stop playing
Classic plus needs to literally be vanilla with more put in between lvl 1 and the end of phase 3. Quests, dungeons, and a raid. Don’t change the classes, ui, graphics….just more of what we love.
I don't like the changes either (probably a change for SoD that accidentally carried over) but they are way smaller impacts than chronoboon.
I got the itch to play again several weeks ago and found some your recent content. I signed the petition and would love to have classic fresh. I am playing through Warcraft, Warcraft 2, and Warcraft 3. I will probably be on Deviate Delight in like a month or so. I look forward to it!

Even though I like the Alliance buff and PvP system changes, Kargoz is right-who knows with all these changes happening to era if we will even have a semblance of the original Classic WoW in a few years to come… For that reason alone I signed the petition.

Appreciate the work yall put into deviate delight. Joined a couple weeks ago and the vibes on the server are immaculate. im blindly hopeful blizzard will get their head out of their ass and provide us a legit relaunch with no changes, and while these accidental changes from SOD bleeding over to era permanently are unfortunate, im still definitely enjoying this community server for the time being!
Personally I think Blizzard blocking transfers to the community fresh server is a good sign and maybe that will lead to official fresh servers. Love this push for keeping a few classic servers classic and every fews years restarting a few fresh classic servers that will roll through TBC and WotLK. Truly hope the community can come together on this and push Blizzard in this direction.
I don't see why they don't just have one server for Classic, one for BC, and one for Wrath that is never touched. That's why the private servers were so popular. Free to play would be great to but that will never happen without a battle pass or some BS like that.
There should 100% be rolling Vanilla -> TBC -> Wrath. It's a no brainer. It's all I want to play. Set it on 18 months or whatever. That said, if they want to try Classic+ AS WELL as the rolling trilogy, I'm fine with that. I know it spreads the community thin but it might be the best option.

If we build it, they will come. The reason classic continued on was private party non profit. Asking a multi million dollar company who leeches off their player base to do the right thing is a loose-loose. Everything from moderation to bots continues to ruin classic. All we need to do is make an era server and tell them to pound sand. You have the ability to begin the walk off!
Blizzard devs now have no idea what we want anymore. Even if there was a classic+ it's not going to be what we want. See you on turtle WoW.

I wish Blizzard would be more transparent with their plans. For example, I don't know what will happen with my character in sod so why shall I put my time now if I don't know if it will be wasted in the end? I want to know where I am going. I want era servers for the original trilogy but I want to know that it will go from era to wrath in 3-4 years and I don't have to worry what will be next. I want to know that I will be able to stay forever in the trilogy era.

The day I fell in love with my wife she was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, that doesn't mean she needs to wear that every day all the time or I wont love her. Classic wow is still classic wow even if druids can use polearms or if alliance has a world buff. these changes don't ruin the core of the game itself. Crying over small shit is weird to me, in fact I think small changes that could attract a real player base are good changes. Wildstar had somewhere between 2-3k players when it was shut down and that wasn't enough to keep it afloat yet classic era is sitting around the same count. breathing some life into a dying game is not a bad thing. For those players who truly are that butthurt over minor changes, go play on a private server to get your fix.
I played season of discovery, was fun until it basically felt exactly like retail then I quit. The way they headed with it I cant imagine they don't make classic plus basically retail.

never pushed for changes like that with traitor..we did push for anti griefing stuff like MC cap flagging and fixing broken leashes on mobs but dont regret those

I completely agree that there should be a version of each expansion with no changes, if only for historical purposes.

I would agree with the original trilogy getting fresh servers on a cycle with the options to graduate your characters into the next expansion AND respective era servers. I'm not enjoying sod, cata, or retail atm. My biggest desire would currently be a classic or tbc fresh experience, even if it's not 2019 levels of popularity.

Played WoW by accident back in 05 because some kids were selling magazine subscriptions to pay for a class trip. Despite being pretty broke I got one to help them out. First one came with a disc inside for the free 20 level intro version. I wasnt even a gamer. Put it in my computer....and the rest was history. For the next five years I was addicted. The changes slowly eroded my passion for the game and by Cata I finally started waking up and not logging in. That turned into not logging in for days, then weeks, and I did what I thought was my final log out prior to Mists. Did jump back in for a year when classic re-released and loved getting to revisit the game. Hardcore was a big part of it, but eventually the repetition and not having as much free time made me walk away again. Classic + will bring me back for a second time. Amazing that a game I've barely played the last 15 years still has me checking in on it routinely.
Why can't they just make Vanilla, TBC and Wrath severs that have progression and reset every couple of years...
Because the money investment required to make that happen isn't worth it, otherwise they already would have.

I’m with ya brother. This is my favorite version of WoW and, at this point, my favorite MMO ever. I want to play this game at times throughout the rest of my life, but I do not want the changes that blizzard are haphazardly throwing into my favorite game.
I wouldn’t worry about Classic Cataclysm or even MoP interfering with Classic Era. The changes that have thus far effected Era came from SoD. SoD has always been the boon to Classic Era and it is my main game.
I will say this, not ever design decision was made purposefully. Kevin Jordan even admitted that he did not intend for world buffs to be dispelled. A lot of things in the original game that seem like flaws are so because the game was rushed and unfinished.
That being said, if people want to play this primitive, unpolished version of WoW, they should be able to. Vanilla WoW should be an archived museum attraction similar to other forms of art or media.
The problem with consistent fresh is eventually people will stop doing it. I personally absolutely love classic era, but I hate the idea of constantly losing my character which is what seasonal does. It sounds like id be in a constant grind phase and only streamers or people with no job can do it. Leave some classic era always open but add era for TBC, wrath, and classic + for sure.

I really believe they won't leave Era alone, because it repeatedly is pulling people back, when their seasonal Classic + servers keep failing. It's simply pride and spite. It bothers the people working on Classic now (who are not the same people that built the original game), that people would prefer a 20 year old game over anything they can make today. The people working at Blizzard now are, by-and-large, riding the coattails of the old team that was so talented. The new people are parasites. So we can count on them to ruin Era, simply because they hate the bros playing it. They're a bunch of envious bitter liberals.
We have to push for them to license the vanilla content to private servers so we can have classic and classic plus and our turtle wows and not rely on blizzards dev team

How quickly we went from wanting classic +, to hoping they wont do it.
The incompetence of the new age dev team is clear.
The old pvp ranking system was far superior to the new one. Many friends and enemies were made. You had to work with others to progress.
Now it's solo q and afk in av, how sad is that. These days everyone in Stormwind is a Grand Marshal.
Not saying the old system was perfect - it wasn't.
It has some major flaws, particularly:
1 - Honor (arguably reputation too) rewards in Alterac Valley was overscaled. It outperformed other battlegrounds by such a large margin, that IF av pops, then ONLY av pops. That became the case for many servers, and as why av is widely regarded as a cancer amongst vanilla purists.
2 - Bracket sizes were too unforgiving (particularly bracket 1 and 2). Forcing players to collude and poolboost with hundreds to thousands of dummy characters, to get enough bracket room for all their teammates.
The development team could have adresses these issues easily, whilst still remaining true to the vanilla spirit. Downscale av rep, and increase the bracket sizes in proportion with pool size. Everyone wins.
Instead they way over shot the ball, and completely decimated the system, and any social element present in it. Many OG vanilla pvpers quit due to this.
I have no faith in handing 2024 Blizzard the torch for tweaking and tempering with Vanilla WoW. If they keep going down this path, we will see a resurgence in private servers.

Giving Alliance the Chiftan buff is the result of over balancing buffs because SOD also give the Horde paladin buff. It aims at the evening the playground for SOD parsers so that no faction felt they are left behind. It is a product after all the SOD "balancing change" and should not have been implemented in era server at all. It didn't consider any lore inconsistency which is crucial for the world building. It also hurts the flavor of classes and difference between two factions. The SOD philosophy is everybody always have what everybody else have and that's NOT people who play era for. it also make no sense if none of the paly buffs and totems are available for both sides. Those changes are toward pleasing certain group of parsers in SOD and basically they enforced it and forced era players to think and play like those people. I won't be mad for some QOL changes that helps grouping/sorting communication but changing the content of the game is certainly uncalled for.

I agree with the no changes. But I do believe we should have fair changes for classic plus. Not on the level of SoD at all. But it should be like 20-30% of sod to a certain degree. Class wise that is.

As if the current Blizzard leadship EVER did anything in regards to Classic out of love, it was always just for cash. With the AI on the horizon and overall the changes that are incoming at a fast pace we are very close to games being tailored for gamers again, and Classic will be packed once again very soon.
I started to know about wow in 2020 when it was last days of tbc so nothing nostalgic for me zero percent... and im still playing only classic wow and i cant leave it now ... its THE game for me forever....

Blizzard needs to put together a People's Council that has some veterans and front runners for each version to be a voice and tip the scales a little.
6:36 to be fair, that is one of the major issues why Classic reboot servers were so imbalanced. If you really want Classic to succeed, some changes should be okay, but in reality the best option really is Classic+ servers and a separate Classic "era" server as a baseline "this is the roots of WoW with all it's rough edges" experience. And I'm talking like 2-4 servers of era max. PVP, RP, RPPVP, and PVE with a singular rolling fresh PVP server.
I love classic wow. The problem is that everyone quits after 12-18 months when Naxx is on farm and cries for another fresh server.
Exactly this. There isn;t enough money in it for blizzard to accommodate this miniscule percentage of their playerbase. I love Kargoz, but he doesn't understand the business end of Blizzard in any way if he thinks a petition is saving this. Or... maybe he is just pandering to his audience.
