Top Gear was the biggest TV show…………in the world
The beauty is, you don’t need to know a thing about cars to be thoroughly entertained by Top Gear
Yeah, it wasn't a car show with jokes it was a comedy show with cars.
Well Clarkson often suspected the huge viewing figures were because of businessmen in hotels who couldn't watch porn because it would show up on the bill...
I believe they are at their best with proper car items though, very funny if you have only take a little bit of interest in cars. Best of British Leyland, Grosser vs Corniche, the British Sportscar challenge, Skoda Yeti test and Spyker C8 test (including quite a bit of banter). They might not be fitting for a reaction video because of the length except for the last two, but that's no different with the specials and the races.
Jeremy meets the Neighbours was a great series too. He just went over to a European country with all of his offensive stereotypes, and made a nice documentary which could also be seen as offensive, but fun. Shame not much of that is left on YT.
When it's about jokes, best of Clarkson in QI might do.
Which, ironically, makes it worse for people who are actually into cars.
Yeah, it kinda ‘went south’ in 2002. Before that it was more of a proper car show.
The episode they filmed in the South is so hilarious when Clarkson graffiti Hammonds car with offensive language and he almost got his ass whooped by the people in the towns. You guys gotta watch that episode 😂😂😂
Yes they nearly got murdered in America wrote on each others cars, gay pride, nas car sucks and hillary Clinton for president I think lol 😂
@@jasonsuter9410 I think you're right 😂 It was hilarious I was genuinely concerned for their safety lol
@@jasonsuter9410 country and western is rubbish.
That was Fantastic.....
Hammond would have got shot if they carried on with the slogans on their cars
@@richieb7692 Definitely!
This show with these three was one of the biggest shows in TV history!! 300 million viewers worldwide! Clarkson May & Hammond are national treasures here in the UK 🇬🇧
Yeah...too bad the woke BBC did their utmost to destroy the show (along with Doctor Who).
650 million in the end by the time it was canceld with these three
@@cliffordtreend2797 the only reason it was destroyed is because of Jeremy Clarkson, he was warned multiple times by the BBC to stop misbehaving and he went and punched a producer, he had to go unfortunately
I loved the old top gear. Unfortunately, there won't be be show like this for the foreseeable future.
@@sami6911 He was going through a ghastly time- his mum was seriously unwell, he’d had a rough day, & the guy he hit tried to pull the race card because he was Irish. The BBC were morons. They let their biggest cash cow.
You have to watch the episode where they drive through Argentina. Annoy everyone by reminding them of the Falklands war and get ordered to leave the country!
That was brilliant. They literally had angry villagers pelt their cars with rocks and had to get evacuated.
Chased out of the country by a bloodthirsty mob, you mean.
Think that special was more "escaped the country..."
They were lucky to get out of Argentina. Lol. You would think Argentina were Still salty about the Falklands. 😂.
James confirmed that the plate was just a coincidence, but even if it wasn't, the mob attacked them because they're British, not for a stupid number plate.
You guys Should watch “top gear run out of Alabama” clip
One of the reasons it flourished in the UK is that it's a BBC show.
So there are no advertisers to worry about.
THE American version was swamped with product placement and the cast Had to be nice about really crap vehicles.
It's like running a race with your feet tied together.
You need to watch more Top Gear clips! It was the biggest TV show in the world in it's prime and Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May are probably the most iconic TV trio of all time! Their banter is absolutely unrivalled!
No it wasn't, don't be ridiculous
@@kurtsudheim825 cry about it
They need to watch little Oliver…
But don't watch it on prime 😂
Lads you will love top gear, the specials and challenges will have you in stitches
You need to calibrate your equipment. When you play the top gear audio I can't hear a thing. However your voices are loud.. and your necks are red.
Captain Slow and Stig too.
The Grand Tour is the same anarchic brilliance, with the same presenters, after Clarkson was sacked from the BBC for punching a producer.
He's also done a farming program, which is also very good.
Sorry bud, Jeremy was not sacked he's contract had run out and the BBC didnot renew it.
Clarksons farm on amazon prime, it's awesome, hilarious and somewhat offensive to some lol
@@8591Jack he was suspended and then asked to leave.
@@Itsme-wb8zt he took James Richard and Andy Willman with him too
The Grandtour is a shadow of Top Gear because the BBC production team were far superior
The chemistry between these three is unrivalled
Honestly there's so much more in top gear than its offensive moments. It's a goldmine, each presenter's iconic moments/cheating/sabotaging each other/rants/laughs/the TG challenges etc
"I thought it would be nice for them to arrive back in the country the way their ancestors left!" lol
Had me in stitches.
The brits never let off USAn that their ancestors was the "crazies" that run off from u.k huh?😂😂
@@nfspbarrister5681 those were the Top Gear Australia producers, the joke was that Australia used to be a prison colony, built and run by prisoners
Top gear was brilliant because it attracted all sorts of viewers. Those who love cars and those who love the comedy aspect of it😂
Oh and yes there is a top gear usa, but it's kinda rubbish
And me who loves cars and comedy
Many years ago, I took our two sons to the Motor Show in Birmingham (the UK one). The guys from Too Gear were there and I mainly remember them being rude about Norfolk. Jeremy Clarkson said he bought some petrol and handed over his credit card to pay for it. The man in the petrol station looked at it, turned it over, looked at it again and then just put it in the till. The other one he said was that when aeroplanes fly over villages in Norfolk, the locals just point up into the sky.
This was one of the best shows on TV in the late 2000s / early 2010s
There is American Top Gear, it's the drizzling shits. You guys should react to more Top Gear stuff, any of their trips to other countries or challenges to make cars into things are especially good. Love the amphibious cars and their trip to Botswana especially
The BBC is publicly funded by way of a TV license that everyone pays, which means they can say whatever they want, and routinely have, about whatever car or manufacturer they wish. They can badmouth and tear into whatever car they had on test that week without worry.
American Top Gear, on the other hand, was funded entirely by corporate sponsors, usually by way of auto manufacturers. So to bad mouth a car is to risk losing sponsor, nullifying a contract and possible litigation. Which is why, after the first season, they removed car reviews entirely, and just did silly, non-dangerous, non-legally-dubious, and often sponsored challenges.
These challenges had to be safe and presented with a "professional driver on closed course" warning to keep themselves or the network from getting sued when some idiot kills himself.
Tanner Faust is an excellent driver though
@@ajorngjdonaydbr True. I liked when they had him on a segment during the final season of Clarkson, Hammond, and May’s run on the BBC. And to be fair, the American trio on History Channel were getting better before they got the axe. Also, for those not aware, there have been two more renditions of an American Top Gear in recent years in addition to the History Channel version. From what I’ve seen, they’re not very good unfortunately.
Dude the American top gear absolutely repeatedly misses the mark every damn time they try a new presenter lineup.
I mean
In fairness, maybe the worldview of Americans being selfish douchnozzles may be why Top Gear USA seems convinced the world wants less actual banter. Just increase the horrid attempts to copy Clarkson and always remember:
Never, not once, EVER try to find presenters with any type of chemistry. Choose them at random and always commit 1000000% to the financing of the eventual shitshow without any reflecting about just how wildly awkward the USA top gear always ends up. Please just find some mechanics that hail from the Midwest, then southern states and 1 from the cleanest and rust free states.
Then let the friggin presenters maybe organically work out what the show will contain. At least a bit. Top Gear UK is legendary because the shit talking was absolute beautifully done and no one was above some UK sarcasm.
Man I hope the USA isnt deliberately knee capping USA top gear just to hope no one gets offended. It takes all entertainment right out of the entire show.
@@captainfunktastic2255 holy crap, thanks for this comment!
I have been really missing this obvious point. Yeah, makes perfect sense the dang companies would never allow the damn criticizing of the auto makers, no matter the severity of the recalls continially churned out.
I am sincere here, I really didn't grasp why US top gear wasn't even a parody of the UK show.
This righr here done lit the dim bulb of final comprehension. I dont know how I didnt put that all together myself, but hey.
I could chose good looking, mechanically inclined and smart. I chose sarcastic, mechanically gifted(communication deficient) and boy howdy I am one beautiful trainwreck of adhd and stress.
Turns out I failed my creation test, but as it was a Friday, the day I was summoned into this infernal plane of existence, Jesus and bossman God just said "he'll be fine, its Friday and the fish fry is Walleye with 4 dollar domestic pitchers of beer till 10:30pm. Add another inch if manhood and send him down the line."
Turns out you can be good lookin and hung, just sacrifice social cue comprehension and a general understanding of the female attraction cues. Even if i was gorgeous, id be having to ask for confirmation even if the lass was already wearing her freshly tightened up birthday suit.
Subtlety is not easy for me. The resulting absolute confusion when other people point out I missed the plot some lady was trying to lay down.
Oof
Like being a totally disengaged to reality version of a filter-less mouthed imbecile. The things I genuinely know I cant communicate without some ridiculous ping pong of topic swtiching. The stuff I dont know I realize it just as i complete that well, seems I DiD KNO.
The more i know the lessi know yet the more I know just how unending the void of unknown knowledge is. Until the next thing i know. Tis a vicious rhomboid, i beleive is the phrase generally applied, inninit?
If you want to watch a Documentary by Jeremy Clarkson, he did a two great ones that are up on CZcams, one about the "Victoria Cross", the other about the "Greatest Raid of All", both are worth watching, he tells stories so flawlessly when he's not messing about.
Top tier comment. The VC doc is immense
@@Swaydcfc24 just a shame that his respect for his late father-in-law didn't stop him cheating on his wife.
@@richardharrold9736 not wrong 😂
You guys should watch the episode of Top Gear when they drive through Alabama with slogans painted on their cars - dangerous but funny
Jeremy Clarkson is an International treasure.
Top Gear is an iconic British cultural export, its on par with Attenborough in significance. Definitely recommend because it’s hilarious (make sure to watch the old top gear produced between 2002-15 not the shitty new one)
The trip through the southern states of the US (Alabama etc) is the best. Genuinely scary.
They looked a lot more worried in Argentina...
Yes there was a USA version of Top Gear I think it lasted a few years but didn’t get the views that the UK one pulled in.
Check out the one where they try to improve camper vans. 🤣🤣
The Germans went over the top on their french holiday 😂😂😂😂😂
All I got to say is watch the episode when they go to alabama
May I recommend that you look into Top Gear"specials".
You Will laugh, and see some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world as three friends drive cars and take the piss out of each other.
I loved old top gear and it ran with these three for a ton of series. They are hilarious and these clips don't do justice to just how funny they can be. The chemistry they had is just natural and near impossible to replicate, as shown by what happened to the show when they left and they tried to copy the format. It's not just the humour, its some of the amazing trips they did, like driving to the north pole etc. A TV gem and at one point the biggest show in the world.
Jeremy is a very funny guy a lot of his humour is tongue in cheek and of course he likes to take the piss. what made the shows (Top Gear and Grand Tour) so good was the banter between the guys. And sometimes they actually reviewed cars and spoke their minds. He is a journalist and this has helped him to become A very successful humorous writer of many bestselling books His latest adventure is owning a farm in England and there is a series of very funny TV programmes about the relationship between him and his manager who Frequently has to tick Jeremy off for making a cock up or two or three
Honestly you take anyone of these presenters and put them in anything and it's great. Honestly Hammond does science stuff, Jeremy's farm, may is intelligent does stuff with machines e.t.c
James May in Japan is hilarious 🤣
5:57 You guys probably miss a little context there. There was a serial killer named "The Suffolk Strangler" who was a truck driver that murdered prostitutes. Clarkson was most likely referring to him.
The next one, the "slope" one, was so obscure that it almost completely passed by unnoticed in the UK at first.
wasn't it the yorkshire ripper?
@@jollyroger5147Ah forgot about Sutcliffe, I think the strangler was more in the news back then but it could have been the ripper as well.
It was the Yorkshire Ripper
Top Gear was a 350 millions views per episode kind of show. That chemistry cannot be repeated
Top gear is so awesome because of those 3 and their chemistry. My favorite segments are the challenges they did. Buying cheap italian cars, making their own campers, etc. There was a US top gear but nobody could reproduce the chemistry those 3 had.
Oh guys , perfect timing..i rewatched 'Stewart Lee and Top Gear' on yt yesterday...Smart English comedian who absolutely rips Top Gear to shreds..even if you can't react to it,it's worth a few minutes of your time honest.Jeremy Clarkson now presents the new 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' on UK TV as well as other stuff already mentioned here..keep up the good work
Agree, Stewart Lee is genius but I can imagine that being a tough reaction video.
@@wizardflaps True Arr...but the guys would have to see it all the way through and not bale out early..they'll see the whole point of the rant then..also might be a bit long
Jeremy got fired from the show because of an altercation with someone who worked in catering, the other 2 then quit because they stood by him because they are best friends.
They all then signed with Amazon and make a show called The Grand Tour just basically the same as Top Gear with a much bigger budget you should check it out you will love it. You should also do more reactions to the origional top gear their are loads of videos on youtube
They moved to Amazon they are now call the ( Grand Tour ) the same 3 guys that were the old top gear
You've never seen TG? It's the most downloaded/stolen TV show in the world. Well worth catching up on a few...these three did some amazing stuff.
"We ain't gunna make shit off this", he says as he discreetly lifts his Monster drink to the screen.... And this weeks sponsors are..... Brilliantly and subtly done lad. Class 👌😁
5:43 You're right the show was really the comedic interaction of the three. There was a rival show called fifth gear at one point, but it didn't last because that was a serious car show. After the three left top gear and created the grand tour top gear was never the same and really not as good.
Clarksons farm is ducking brilliant :-) and there is an American version of top gear but it isn't as good
I think absolute dog shit is more accurate than "not as good".
No one can recreate that magic.
Best show ever ... Top Gear
Back when Top Gear was nothing but pure gold. Damn I miss it.
Speaking of Top Gear, my late uncle was on one of the very early episodes.
At the time he was a driver for some very famous and important people and they did a bit on limo and defensive driving.
I always used to like watching the show.
Top gear USA special is an absolute must.
Top gear was the most watched show in the 🌎, have a look at their American road trip, great reaction as always gents 👏
Dear boys,- been enjoying your efforts since the first US/Europe basketball/football videos.....
Delving into Top Gear is going down a much lauded and at the same time infamous and immensely entertaining rabbit hole that runs VERY deep.
You´re gonna love it!
Enjoy the ride.
Just thought I’d mention, when Jeremy Clarkson was driving a lorry saying it was a hard job “change gear change gear change gear murder a Prostitute”
He was making a joke about one of Englands most brutal and notorious serial killers, who was a truck driver who murdered dozens of prostitutes in horrible ways and had the entire regional police force just completely confused
So yeah that one was rough🤣
The original Top Gear produced by the BBC was an absolute riot, my entire family and I watched that show for years, we had a lot of special family moments laughing our butts off together while learning lots of cool stuff about cool/some not so cool cars. The celebrity (mostly British) races were really funny too, it was always interesting seeing what kind of drivers they were lol. Simon Cowell was at the top of the leaderboards for a while lol, he was definitely a fast driver, not the guy I'd expect with how much of a prick the guy is🤣, I'd have expected him to be the type that only rides in limos lol.
The American version though, I don't know, it kinda lost its magic after that, I've never been able to get back into it, everything just feels too forced and scripted. It's too bad Jeremy Clarkson punched that BBC director in the face and got himself fired🤣, that's why the American version happened lol. James May and Richard Hammond quit with Jeremy, they wouldn't do the show without him and the director wouldn't budge so the show was canceled.
You should watch the top gear specials, you get to see some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet and have a laugh at the same time watching the three of them.
It aired on BBC America in the early 2000's watched every episode, amazing show.
Good stuff fellers, watch top gear alabama. You will fall off ya chairs👍🏴❤
Yall should just react to all the Top Gear (2002 - 2015) Specials followed by the The Grand Tour Specials.
There was an American version but it wasn't as good as the British Version and was cancelled. If you want to see more Top Gear you'd love the challenges especially Botswana (it does last about an hour) and the British Leyland (this is a shorter one).
In the UK they have the specials like Botswana on Netflix so you might have them on Netflix in the US too
Clarkson has also done some serious documentaries about war. Brilliant.
You guys gotta react to more Top Gear and Grand Tour clips, it's always hilarious
Top Gear was a great show, I miss the old one
If you want a Top Gear white knuckle ride then...watch the episode when Sabine Schmitt (sadly passed way to early, RIP) thrashed a van around Nuremburg ring in 10 mins....overtaking porches and high powered motorcycles!
The trio are also , after Top Gear, on Amazon Prime as 'Grand Tour'.
I like you guys, you seem like real sincere, down to earth and fun to hang around with.
The old Top Gear easily the best with Clarkson
Look on Amazon Prime, they have a new show called The Grand Tour as Jeremy got fired from Top Gear so the other 2 left in protest.
This was my FAVORITE show of all time! I've watched every episode, with these guys multiple times!
I love this, “you know we’re gonna get demonitized” lol too funny man
The fact that Jeremy is so unfiltered with what he said/says is what makes him funny and special to watch, cause who else is like him!?
I'll be honest and admit that a lot of the things he says I do too. I just keep them internal and not on international TV 😆
I think you would of loved top gear it was hilarious. The specials/roadtrips were always the best
React to all the top gear specials they’ve done in different countries. They’re long but no youtuber has reacted to them and they’re brilliant loads of people would watch
Best TV show of all time. No questions.
It is the only show I can play for my entire family, from grandparents to nieces that everyone sits, watches and laughs.
watching your vids your really diving into true English cult comedy, music and culture keep um coming 🤣👍
I love them.. they are brilliant! So funny :') i watched their Africa special last night :') would love you to react to some more Top Gear or their new but similar show Grand Tour videos! :D but make sure its them three you react too ( Richard Hammond, James May, Jeremy Clarkson) because there is another top gear but its new presenters... a really funny clip to watch is (The Grand tour the SAS mission) its basically the three of them doing a SAS training mission.. and obviously they are really bad at it.. :') would love to see you guys react to that! :D
Cars and "lads" humour. Winning combination. Would love to see your reaction to Clarkson's "The Greatest Raid" or better yet - The British Medal of Honour, the Victoria Cross" to see another side of his abilities. The Grand Tour was the Amazon funded successor to Top Gear (JC got fired, and the other two left with him - not watched Top Gear since,) and "Clarkson's Farm" was hilarious.
At 1 min 42 a pickup truck is mentioned. It’s from series 3 episode 5 and is one of my favourites. Available on Top Gear channel across several videos. Definitely worth checking out.

TopGear was Awesome until they sacked Clarkson and the other 2 left at the same time, all 3 of them are now on Amazon in a program called THE GRANDTOUR and that's also awesome. TopGear went downhill rapidly when they left and not a lot watch it now... I know its a Car Program but it was more about Hammond/May and Clarkson and the chemistry between them.
Top gear is a national treasure of ours.... dive down the rabbit hole
There have been versions of Top Gear across several countries. The German, Australian and the USA versions are the most well known of the non British versions
The guys in the prison van in that clip were the Top Gear Australia presenters and they did a hilarious episode where they “competed” with them in various challenges. BTW: yes, nowhere near PC enough for today’s world, especially the BBC - who sacked JC after he punched a programme employee. The other two resigned with him and they went on to make The Grand Tour. You’ll find Clarkson’s latest incarnation on Amazon with Clarkson’s Farm.
You guys should watch the inbetweeners
React to top gear USA special ,,, do the full episode
But the original BBC top gear not the Amazon the grand tour version
There has been many Versions of top gear including top gear USA hosted by Tanner foust, Rutledge wood and Adam Ferrara but yes the original is the uk version and has been around for years in the uk and now these three host the grand tour on Amazon
These two guys are brilliant!!! They agree with everything said about the Americans by us Brits. I’d like to fly to the States and buy these two a few beers. 🍺🍺
You should watch Top Gear in Alabama. It shows Alabama as a truly third world country
Ey...what did you say there yank? I'll have you know we in 3rd world got sense of humour, thankyou very much!
If only they would know, that you could make 100 of these compilations of offensive clips XD
No way you guys sat midgé too!! Definitely subbing now
Top gear crew are just great - word wide they are loved and enjoyed!
The “slope” comment was very controversial.
Even as someone who doesn’t care about cars, I could still watch top gear and enjoy every minute. Can’t watch it now they’ve been replaced though so I’m just catching up with the grand tour.
Grand tour was also an Amazon follow up with the 3 same guys off these golden year top gears... Not quite the same focuses more on fun and high powered cars and now thats it changed from a series to specials only focuses on the fun elements... Top gear has actual car reviews for all classes... And fun
Off on a tangent here but I just wanted to tell you guys.... having a bit of a bad day... looking through YT and saw another video of yours. I thought okay, I'll watch it. You two nearly always make me laugh :D Thanks mates from a lady in Oz.....
Well done guys for having half a sense of humour, just try and work on the other half before the dems have it lobotomized.
I live in Maine and Top Gear was one of my favorite shows. Those 3 were always hilarious, and this video doesn't even begin to cover it. I recommend watching from season 3-23. Those 3 left after that. They made a new show, The Grand Tour, for Amazon.
Clarkson, Hammond and May Top Gear is from Series 2 to 22.
Suggestions for Top Gear stuff to react to:
- all of their holiday programs
- all of their cheap car challenges
Best car show on the planet. Not even a debate. But it has to be with Clarkson, Hammond and May.
Any Top Gear you check out with these guys will be good.
It's all about their chemistry first, THEN the cars.
Definitely do more. It will not disappoint.
The specials are brilliant.
You have the entire back catalogue of Top Gear , you lucky sods. The new season is very good too , there was a few years where they struggled with Matt Le Blanc presenting.
Top gear specials are a must watch
Top Gear was broadcast all over the world but in most markets it was edited, the "full fat" version in the UK was possible because it was on the BBC and therefore no advertisers to be scared of. So they can come straight out and say "that's rubbish" or when Jeremy described the then newly launched Porsche Panamera as looking like "genital warts", could you ever imagine a US network broadcasting that, the lawyers would be in meltdown.
I was under the impression Top Gear is on TV in the USA, Clarkson, Hammond and May did the show for about 10/15 years, its been on TV with different presenters since the 1970s to the present day.
Its these 3 you want to search out, they take the piss out of anything, everything and especially each other.
Their Top Gear specials are worth a watch. Road trips to different parts of the world that regularly end up with the locals wanting to kill them.
I know sod all about cars other than my Ford Fiesta is awesome. But top gear was such a must watch bit if telly - just great
Top Gear with these 3 is a must watch. It was far more than a Car Show. They had some amazing adventures and took great delight in winding each other up, but they were proper friends. Dive in and enjoy the ride.
By the way, I have no interest in cars and loved the shows. I regularly watch reruns over in the UK (on every day). The star in a reasonably priced car had some epic moments. They had to do a lap of a track in boring standard car, but the stars had the best time. Watch the one with Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise or the one with Amber Heard and watch the interview before the lap. It's hilarious.
Top gear is on BBCAMERICA, however its the latest series with the new host lineup. The old hosts cam now be found on Prime presenting, "The Grand Tour"
You guys must watch any of the top gear specials they are brilliant , my fave is the polar special and also the us road trip special
I’m British, knows nothing about cars but these guys are sooo funny.
Watch the specials and the races, ferrari 612 from England to Verbier in Switzerland is amazing
They did a top gear special in Vietnam, usually it’s a broken down pieces of crap they have to make the journey in and often require a spare vehicle that gets taken along in case their main vehicle is unrepairable…..in Vietnam it was a white moped decked out in Stars and Stripes flags and decals while an audio system blared Brice Springsteen’s born in the USA…one of the funniest things I’ve seen on tv in years
You certainly need to watch the Series. Plus all three of them create awesome other programs.
Jeremy has a few Military documentarys
Which are great watched
