No they don't use penguins to make Guinness. ,everyone knows we use them to make biscuits 👍😄
P..p...p....p.....pick up a penguin.
They like being picked up.
Great joke tellers to.
@You're The Party Man funny but toucan play that game

"If you create a country out of thin fucking air, you've won" Love it
is that what he said? Is that what he said?
@@bigtwit799 yes when he was talking about belgium at 5:35
I love living in thin fucking air.
He just said that as I read you saying it Sarah 😂😂
His stage persona is a pub landlord, and the 'beer' he seems to be permanently drinking is actually alcohol free. Al is actually a very clever man who studied History at Oxford University. You have to understand British humour; the people we like the best we seem to insult - but we love them really.
But not the French
@@Galahadfairlight The French are the perfect country for that fun. UK had a huge empire, so did France. A lot of countries speak English, a lot of countries speak French. France has between 67-68 million people, so does the UK. UK has the 6th largest GDP, France has the 7th largest GDP. Neither side is punching down, so it's always a fair fight, but one that we constantly win :P
Though I think it's the horse thing, we had a national scandal when there was horse meat found in some frozen food, France have specialist butchers called 'boucherie chevaline' all over the country which only sell horse.
@Galahadfairlight they aren't people tbf
Allo Allo was great it took the piss out of everyone it's still popular in the UK France and Germany 😂
@@TheBT constantly win might be a bit of a stretch🤣
Fun fact: Spend an amount of time is an English pub in any small, provincial town for long enough and you’ll meet actual characters like The Pub Landlord. Least you do where I grew up outside Portsmouth.
And within Pompey too!
Dead right mate we're right here in waterlooville and there's at least one in every pub. They generally don't quite have his knowledge though, all the best
Fun fact: you wont
Lee-On-Solent but Porchester would work too
And in Southampton 😅 lets leave our differences out of this comment section 😅
1812 is agreed to be a british victory everywhere in the world except the states where they teach the outcome as a draw 😅😅
What makes it even funnier is we seen that war as an inconvenience and as a distraction from our war with France which was going on at the same time.
A victory in a sense as the British forces were string thin across the globe and let's not forget America did not defeat Britain both countries sued for peace called the treaty of Ghent(Netherlands) it made economic sense to have a treaty so the Royal navy could concentrate on France and Spain that were in Alliance at the time with the colony that is America,so never ever one a war on their own with a very very brief history😂👍
We was fighting 7 other countries at the time and only sent a fraction of our military force to fight them our leaders refused to send support after France blocked our supply route
@@martindunstan8043 no it is well know that Britain won that fight.
@@martindunstan8043 Britain never started the war, so they were quite happy for peace in the first place. US lost the war.
He's a history graduate from Oxford University, which is I think the oldest University in the English speaking world.
Second oldest continuously operating university in the world behind Bologna.
to put it into perspective, Oxford University was founded 500 years prior to the US being discovered
I did not know that.
I think I just thought he researched for his jokes
I thought Cambridge was older than oxford ??
@@ianelley Outrageous. Cambridge was founded by a group of renegade oxford professors. The result is that some of the oxford colleges have as part of their graduation ceremony, an oath not to teach at the oldest college in cambridge university.
The question of age between the two is individual colleges as not all of oxford is as old as some of cambridge but oxford as the institution, is oldest.
I went to an Al Murray gig a few years back. This woman in the audience came back from the bar with a pint of lager. Al confiscated the beer from her, took his wallet out and pulled £20 from it and sent her bloke to the bar to buy her a white wine spritzer, and Al sat there and drank her pint! 😂😂😂
if Britain hadn't of sent the B team to deal with the Traitors in the Americas and didnt have 80% of its forces fighting the french, American history would have been very different
The big problem with sprawling empires is too many fronts.
American history is very different because it's bullshit in comparison to actual history 😂
"Japan. We got the Yanks to do it for us. Job done!"
Love a bit of The Landlord.
to be fair, the brits, indians and ANZAC's helped plenty
I saw him do this routine a really long time ago in a scout hut in South London. Can't remember where exactly but it was a small venue. Someone shouted "Iceland" and within a nano-second he replied "The Cod War 1976". I realised in that second this man is a genius.
That's one they lost.😉
True, but Iceland used to be called Bejam.
@@tomhaskett5161 🤣🤣🤣True. That was part of the peace settlement. I guess.
"is that true??"
American educational system at work there..
I’m sure these guys were just joking when they said it was educational watching Al Murray. Or were they? 🧐
This comment is pretentious and obnoxious .
@@Labgorilla If talking about your comment, then yes. :)
@@Labgorilla Doesn't stop it from being true
@@Labgorilla that's Britain for you, pretentious and obnoxious, but we are always right
He is a scarily educated man - I had a relatively good English education, but my history teacher was the dullest man on Earth. I wish I'd had Al Murray as my teacher!
I really appreciate that you guys can take the cheekiness and irony of all this. Ultimately Al is making fun of us, not anyone else; that is his genius. I am glad that you don't automatically get angry and annoyed at a joke on the USA. We should all be able to laugh at ourselves
That's English humour in a nutshell isnt it ?
The amount of history that Americans don’t know is unreal. You could do a reaction video to each topic that he touches on. Not a long one, just a 10 minute summary about each root would be great to see you react to. Keep it up boys.
Try the extra credit channel for short history vids
It's more like Americans are more arrogant and overlyproud to acknowledge the right history, and instead use it to think they have always been at the top
He was a History teacher before becoming a comic.
I don't think he did. What he did do was take a degree in Modern History at Oxford University and has specialised in military history.
@@fraserbailey Pretty sure he was a teacher, I'm sure I've heard him say so in an interview.
He was never a teacher, in lots of interviews he has thanked teachers and presented at the British teaching awards. That is why people are confused.
I've just watched about a dozen of these 'Americans react to Al Murray' and I swear, the reactions are just as funny as the Pub Landlord.
Great to see our friends across the pond appreciate our humour.
Try Al Murray "How bacon proves the existance of god!"
Oh yes, that's a funny one
Definitely,that is hilarious 👍
“Bacon proves existence of god” is one of his best for sure.
I read this and straight away I fancied a bacon butty.
It's a sermon worthy of any evangelist.
Brit here. Saw him live a couple of weeks ago and it was great. The tickets were for a couple of years ago but the show got pushed back forever due to lockdowns. Must have had a dozen pints throughout the show and had a big bottle of hand sanitizer that he kept liberally squirting into his beer. The perfect character to poke fun at all the dumb shit that's been happening during the pandemic.
Al is great, one of the only people that can educate, entertain and roast you all at the same time
His podcast is called ‘we have ways of making you talk’ and is a serious history one about WW2 and you will see how incredible his history knowledge is and it’s actually really good
Hello fellow afflicted. 😁
And it’s a affliction I happily confess to
Love your reaction it's just humour some people take it to heart, love and respect from England 👍🏴🇬🇧🇺🇸
"Laugh and learn shit" is the basis of the BBC children's show Horrible Histories. Plenty of good stuff.
Plenty of bbc propaganda too
Horrible histories isn’t history - it’s mostly made up
@@eliminator74 Only to the extent that all history is made up compared to what physically happened at the time if you could live then and watch.
Al Murray is a very much loved genius in Britain , comedy and history genius . So good to see Americans appreciate him as we in Britain are led to believe Americans don’t have our humour, clearly not the case. Love your channel guys 👍🇬🇧🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇸
It has to be nations of the world next guys. Big Al roasts the whole world
The old fashioned pub landlord, a bit like a taxi driver they know everything and if they don't they will make it up.
@@jonnyenglish2701 except this one has a master's degree from Oxford, in history
Should watch "Why Bacon Proves The Existence Of God" by Al Murray.
Al Murray is a history graduate from Oxford. So he is practically giving a free history lesson.
I love watching you guys trying to work Al Murray out. He is a genius! Love to our American cousins 🙂
Al Murray - nations of the world is another good one to watch.
One of his best scenes in my opinion
Accents is another good show.
Have a look at the side of the Guinness factory, you'll see a massive pile of yellow beaks for landfill. We don't mind you yanks banging on about independence, we brits just look at it like a child of ours has grown up, left home and done well for himself.
Amen
Lol
Debatable about the doing well part
Done well is a bit of an overstatement, they don't even have decent healthcare for their citizens yet
No wonder they ended up bad with parents like that.
Respect from England to all Patriotic Americans, it's all tongue in cheek British piss take humour. We Englishman love and respect America, Skol!
Um...I'm English and I haven't "respected" America for many years and pretty much everyone I know feels the same way. You do NOT speak for all of us...
@@andy6576 Things are bad everywhere, said the man who heard wailing in hell.
@@slainesaxon3809 So what is it you respect so much about the US? Its racial divisions? Its many miscarriages of justice? Soaring gun crime? Social imbalance on an insane scale? (Although the UK is certainly heading for the latter).
Believe me, I have many issues with the Tory-obsessed UK too...
@@andy6576 Your motivation reads political. Anger does us more harm than the things about which we're angary, we forever eat our own hearts when we give in to anger and the consequences of our anger might harm others but we also harm ourselves. Please be kinder to yourself.
Nations of the world is a great one! It's about 20 min long but it flies by.
Al Murray is actually an academic scholar. He's a very smart man. Very funny, but very clever. Always liked him.
In the Falkland's whalers did used to boil/burn penguins for fat to make whale oil, so maybe it was a reference to that
I think you'll find they used whale blubber to make whale oil, hence the name? Penguins were used for meat occasionally.
@@darson100 I should of specified, the penguins 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 to make whale oil.
I believe they use to burn the penguins to make a fire and then boil whale blubber over the fire to make the whale oil
Love you 2, always humble and good natured.
Not a glass of beer,A PINT OF LAGER!LOL
Seen Al Murray numerous times live , brilliantly quick , so funny & with a knowledge that must b 2nd 2 none. He used 2 tour with his house band "The Charlie Farley Sunday 4 " who were a brilliant warm up band.
Al Murry - How Global Finance Works - is hilarious and probably more accurate than you'd imagine 👍
One of my favorite sketches.
Love that you can laugh even when it comes close to the wire - ie the War of 1812, I was waiting to see how an American would react - "Whuu, wait a minute!!!" - but you could still laugh along to a British perspective. You guys are class acts! :)
You need to do Al Murray "Secretaries "
AL Murray has his own CZcams channel. On it he is hosting every episode of 'Time Gentlemen Please', a sitcom centred around The Pub, the landlord and his misfit crew of 'unquenchables' a.k.a the regulars. It's worth checking out.
You get a history lesson whilst laughing your arse off! Brilliant!
Good video. Glad you feel educated.
The Great Pub Landlord 🤣.
Just wanted to say, love the channel you guys are ace.
Al Murray - secretary - is a great one, and the one on national anthems is good too
The falklands was just us flexing our muscle really. Thatcher didn’t take any shit and what little was left of our empire wasn’t gunna slip out of her hands. May just be a shitty little island but so is pretty much every part of the empire as it stands lol
m.czcams.com/video/hXSImqV5Ios/video.html
Lol it wasn't muscle flexing mate the inhabitants are all british...if she'd have just let the Argies invade she would've been letting our own people be conquered. Watch the video...everyone born on the Falklands is a British citizen
@@whitedwarf4986 fair point actually. I just meant it isn’t a hugely significant territory economically. Obviously it would be worth fighting for British citizens. Sorry if I offended you talking about the war in jest as I did.
@@whitedwarf4986 I don't think they were British Citizens at the time.

The British might not have to defend the Islands from the Argentine.

@@eddhardy1054 the special edition badger draft in 2014 wasn’t half bad though

Al's pub landlord is the antithesis of a 'Craft beer' Hipster. he would probably throw a hipster through the door.
Al’s the type of pub landlord where if you were to walk into his pub and ask what his selection is he’d say “beer or wine”
It is also a fact that the AMERICANS tried to set fire to the Parliament buildings in Canada, before the British set fire to WH - so it was revenge, not unwarrented vandalism/arson
He’s done some good WW2 documentaries, as himself, as opposed to his pub landlord character.
Has he? Cheers mate I’ll be watching them👍🏻
@@RyanKeane9 the road to Berlin. Absolutely brilliant series

Please give Dave Allen Teaching to Tell the Time a reaction to, pure comic genius!
It's alright chaps, it's just a bit of banter. 😁😉👍
Americans can't take it like the Brits
He has a Masters degree in History; and a brilliant sense of humour too!
It was Oxford: they give you the Masters a year after you complete the Bachelors - gratis.
You 2 bonce of each other so well.. and your very understanding and patient of our British comedy with out taking too much personal offence. It is all ment as fun in the end..
If you guys like learning and laughing, the 'oversimplified channel' is very entertaining. It's all history, but would probably make for good content! Either way, loving the channel guys, keep it up :)
His character is basically based on someone you find in every single English pub. Not always the landlord but you can guarantee every pub has one!!! 🤣
Al is amazing. Definitely find more of his videos 👍
You guys are good boys, keep it up👊. Love and peace from Bath, Somerset, England, UK👍
All his jokes about America are tongue in cheek, he has a PHD in history from Oxford University that’s why he knows everything lol
If you want to learn about British history in a fun way, I can recommend Horrible Histories. It was a BBC show based on books by Terry Deary, Peter Hepplewhite and Neil Tonge. It was sort of for kids but most adults love it too. Its funny, a bit gruesome but very educational. Most on here will start singing one of their songs in their head when you say Horrible Histories.
With the war with Argentina he meant the Farlklands war throwing in the poor penguins was just for fun,but a real war happened in’82
Britain is the largest supplier of Independence Days in the world, 65 or so and counting.
You cant beat a bit of Al Murray
Al Murray (the comedian who plays ‘Al Murray the Pub Landlord’) has a degree in History from the University of Oxford & is still a very keen historian. He’s narrated several of James Holland’s audiobooks about the Second World War. I’d recommend his book about the Battle Of Britain.
I love you guys. I'm from the north of England, Manchester born, and I sometimes have a few problems with some London accents if strong. But mostly you can get the gist of it. North and South of England pronouce some vowels differently as a rule.

Al Murray is an Oxford history professor, and also an aristocrat... A descendant of the novelist William Makepeace Thackeray, his grandfather was the former British ambassador Sir Ralph Murray, who was from Scottish aristocracy and married into the Kuenberg family, Imperial Counts of the Holy Roman Empire.

I like the one where he says that the Americans have been working for us ever since!!! 😁😆😂
Glad you guys take it well when he's slagging the Yanks, I watched another reaction from another content creator and when their country came up they took offence! Its all a joke, I'm Scottish and he slags us all the time, but its a laugh, it's comedy, people need to learn to laugh when they are made fun of instead of getting all butt hurt about it.
