  • In this video I walk you through my newly purchased Kubota MX6000 tractor (The cab and features are the same as the MX5400). If you are curious about the tractor, you came to the right place! I added the following from the base machine:
    -Arm Rests
    - Radio
    -Bucket level indicator
    -Rear defroster
    -120A alternator
    -Two rear remotes
    -3rd function valve
    -Wheel weights (not installed in video)
    -Trailer Connector

    i have the same size tractor. you want rim guard or beet juice and also put a cutting edge on bucket huge difference. also add a hydraulic top link. look into pats easy hitch. just trying to save you time. you have a fine machine enjoy it.if you move logs look at fransgard 950 grapple made in denmark made with domax 420 not a36 like all the other log grapples. enjoy you machine rich

      I love all the suggestions except for the rim guard and easy hitch 😉(Rim guard reduces shock absorption and cannot be removed easily, and I don't like the massive amount of play in the quick hitch connection)
      I finally received my wheel weights and boy what a difference! I also recently got a claw grapple which works great since in addition to logs, I also move a ton of brush that grapple has been working out great! The top link would be nice, but will have to wait until I can add another hydraulic remote.
      That cutting edge is something I am considering making myself, probably won't bother until I destroy the buckets edge XD
      Thanks for watching!

    • @IllInformedHuman

      That is going to be a project coming up 😉
      Without any ballast I tip around the 800lb mark, so moving a water tank would be out of the question until I get some counter weight. Which that is the project I am currently working on.
      Stay tuned, I will definitely be messing with water this summer!

      I put a 7 foot mower on the back for a counter weight. You will love a grapple. I have no regrets with this tractor. Congratulations.

    How is the noise from the engine inside the cab? Do you need to use ear protection inside the cab?

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  Před rokem

      It is a little quieter inside. I have not felt the need to wear hearing protection under 2K rpm. I have not ran it higher since I have not needed the PTO yet. I have a feeling I will be using hearing protection when brush hogging.

    Would you be able to tell me the EXACT kit you got from Summit for the rear remotes? When I messaged them about 5 months ago, they told me that they didn’t know if it would work or not for the Cab models as they were designed for open station. Bought my mx5400 last September and dealership still hasn’t received all the pieces for the factory remote kit.(National backorder). They finally got the valve body in a couple months ago, but they still haven’t received the in cab controls. I’m tired of waiting as hay season is fast approaching. Every dealership I’ve talked to has said that I wouldn’t be happy with the aftermarket set up. And I probably won’t, but I’m running out of time and options! Thank you in advance!

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  Před rokem

      The Summit SKU is: EVK3-K5. I believe the dealership also had to buy some additional fittings and hoses to make it work.
      You will also have to plump into the loader power beyond and not get to use the flow directly from the pump in the rear (Biggest reason most people hate the after market)
      The reason I am not happy is due to how far back the couplers sit and how terrible the button box looks in the Cab. I am using some other hardware to pull those couplers farther out the rear of the tractor, and replacing the button box with an aluminum plate.

      They put it below the door on the L series. I have a feeling they are punishing the consumer for buying a "value" model 😅

    why the MX rather than A grand L?

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  Před rokem

      I needed something with 50HP out the PTO and the MX6000 was cheaper than a Grand L6060 by over 5K! The MX was also heavier (value add for me) and had a better wheel base in my opinion.

    • @haus05
      @haus05 Před rokem

      @@IllInformedHuman 50hp out the pto ? What you run that needs 50? Also the L6060 is 53HP @ the PTO

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  Před rokem +2

      @@haus05 53 out the PTO is what the MX has as well. I need it for an old baler, and eventually a seed drill.
      The MX and Grand L are comparable tractors. The Grand L just didn't feel like a rugged enough tractor for me when I was in the operator seat. Even if the L was the same price or a little cheaper, I would have went with the MX6000.

    • @haus05
      @haus05 Před rokem

      @@IllInformedHuman all in what ya want / need , personally I prefer the HST transmission and ease of operability of the Grand L that way if my wife wants to use it she can just hop on in and not worry about shifting and clutching

    • @IllInformedHuman
      @IllInformedHuman  Před rokem

      @@haus05 Very true, it comes down to preferences and needs for sure. The MX6000 can only be purchased with an HST, no shifting required! (MX5400 has a gear option) You can also lift a little over 500 more pounds with the MX. What the L6060 beat the MX in was rear lift, cab luxuries and PTO power (It has an extra 1.3HP at the PTO).
      Main thing I am envious of is the fuel fill near the door. I am pretty sure Kubota is punishing me for "cheeping out".
      The BX23S I bought years ago has been amazing. I just needed something bigger and with a cab to keep the dust off me in the summer and keep me warm in the winter ☺
