  • The ability to run heavies at 3250fps or lightweights at 4400fps might just make this the most versatile 6mm on the planet. By the way, if you ask me about barrel life, I'm going to assume you think men can get pregnant.

Good to see more being done with the PRC case. 5yrs ago I designed and built a 358cal wildcat on the 300RCM case. The rifle it's chambered in, is a Mod70 featherweight, 26" SS barrel, pillar and glasses wood featherweight stock.

It was interesting what you said about the 40 degree shoulder causing less unburnt powder to leave the case early which lowers throat erosion. I hadn’t thought of that before but it makes sense. It seems like the Ackley shoulder is ideal but I guess bigger cartridge makers err on the side of reliability/feeding etc rather than efficiency and performance.

Some constructive opinion: Id call it the 6ppc, or 6 Primal Precision Cartridge... or if it’s a matter of folks understanding that this 6 was born from a PRC, then I’d refer to it as the 6mm PPRC or 2PRC, for Primal Precision Rifle Cart.

Greg, your new cartridge line sound efficient, accurate and functional. I have a couple of improved cartridges and have also heard that case stretch is less and the powder burn angle is kept inside of the case neck, just as you say here. How you designed the case, so that you can shoot the parent case without case stretch and without jamming bullets into the lands, is also smart and will increase case life. I also like the components you are using, including the TH scope. Your ideas/views about loading cartridges below max, is smart, safe and much better than shooting loads which are too hot. Cases don't last long and reliability can be questionable with too of of loads, especially when shooting in hot weather and they can be problematic when hunting. I have learned a lot from your videos and appreciate your insight and knowledge. Have you tried a badlands 100 gr bulldozer in your 6mm? They are quite effective, with a high BC and good killing ability, but are a bit more picky with seating depth/loading than a standard lead-core/jacketed bullet. Your choice of using the SAC dies/bushings are also smart as they are top top quality and will produce excellent results. I also like the inline dies as I often do load development at the range, using my portable arbor press and an electronic scale/battery pack. I assume you are using ADG or similar high quality type brass? Thanks for sharing your knowledge and equipment expertise.

This looks like a fantastic modification to the caliber. Hard to argue against it with one-hole groups across multiple groups like that. I know a few guys that run 40-degree shoulder cartridges and their brass and barrels definitely last longer than even 35-degree shoulder cartridges.
