HI everyone! Thank you so much for tuning in with me on this build! Before we jump in the details, please consider voting for this Instructable in the contest at the very bottom of the page. Support is highly appreciated!
It has been a few years since I started building various portable Bluetooth speakers and boomboxes and even though it is truly satisfying to design and build your own portable speaker - one thing that I noticed for sure is that it does take quite a lot of time, usually a few weekends to build a decent speaker. Therefore I thought I would rather use an already built commercial speaker and attach a "rechargeable amplifier" to it! Not only is it much less time consuming but also a lot cheaper since you can get great quality second-hand speakers really cheap!
This idea of giving old items a brand new life has been with me for quite a while. Therefore I thought to give this old speaker built in the 80's a new life by converting it into a portable Bluetooth + WiFi boombox using the amazing Up2stream Pro audio receiver which can connect to your streaming device via WiFi or Bluetooth 5.0 and with its own app it is a breeze to use. I hope you will give this build a try yourself!
Thank you so much for watching!

This is the type of video you like before you even watch. Good Job!
Haha, thanks!
Hey man awesome work! I am currently also doing a project with an old boombox from the 80's making it into a bluetooth ghettoblaster.
Im wondering how long approx. the battery lasts?
This is really so awesome video, super like 👍😍
Thank you so much!
Good job! ☺
Thanks!
Another sweet build! I'm ready to build your INSANELY Loud 150W DIY Bluetooth Speaker and have everything but wiring. I went over everything over and over and cant catch what gauge wire I need. I only see 24 awg going into the buck converter but what other sizes did you use and where?
Hi! Thank you so much! 14 gauge wire should be good but you will do just fine with 16 gauge.
Awesome restoration build man!
Would've loved if you fixed the aesthetics a little bit)) But alright
And play some "Magnus Deus" music from Spotify next time!
Thank you a lot! It was kind of a test at first to see if this would work or not so I kept the speaker as it is. I do agree that it is not at its best condition so I will be reviving it in the near future.
Top cara muito legal faça vídeos como esse cara e muito top caixas antigas desmonta aí um mini system antigo
чувак, я пошел искать в переводчике то, что ты сказал, и я не понял, что это ничего
It could have been s-90, but s-50b is awesome as well 😀
Thanks! S-90 restoration coming soon!
Good job
Thank you!
это фиаско....
Kapton is high temperature tape for those who might be wondering as I was
Also simply used for insulation.
Hello Is it possible to use an up2stream Amp connected to only one speaker without losing one of the stereo tracks?
Hi! Not sure about that, you might want to reach out to them directly.
I have got grundig box 1600 b or a from 80's
Good video. Why didn't you replace the speakers?
Thanks! Even though they are not in top shape they are still usable!
@@DonnyTerek I could see that. Well, if they still work it's ok
Cool
Thank you!
try a bigger baterry pack
NiCe bro
Thanks bro!
I am sure most of your speaker designs sound fine for what you are making them for, but you should totally try WiniSD and VituixCAD to make your own crossover networks and design your own boxes for flat responses to get the most out of the speakers you purchase
not worth it, those speakers has high thd, will not sound as it should either way
Amp 2x120 watt?
I am using a mono 50W amp.
How long battery life does it get?
Around 4-6 hours on half volume.
@@DonnyTerek Nice!

Amateur question. How do I know my old 15" speaker will work with this build/amp?
As I have written in my build log in the description, the best speaker to choose would be a 3-way speaker with an impedance of 4 Ohms and rated for up to 50W Rms. But pretty much any speaker will work with this powerful amp.
@@DonnyTerek very kind. much appreciated :)
My speaker: 8ohms, RIP: 40w. Good to go?
Sorry for a late reply! This is pretty much a perfect speaker for this build.
Donny Terek all good man. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.
The Good old S50
True!
I think that subwoofer was missing its centre cap?
It really is! I just received a new dust cap for the woofer and I will be restoring the whole speaker to a better shape soon!
@@DonnyTerek you've already done an awesome job, keep it up!
I'll try my best, thanks!
It's a common problem on these tweeter, crackling
this does not affect the sound quality. it's just a case
@@user-pz4wh4eo7m Yeah, i know that, i have same problem and fix that problem exact same as you, i think, is the best way to fix that.
Wrong tip and dry joint at 5:51
Donny terek ar gaminate garsiakalbiam korpusus pagal uzsakyma?
Sveiki, kol kas ne :)
In America you make speaker.
In Soviet Russia speaker make you.
